Monitoring tool suggestion

Hello,
Could someone please suggest a tool for monitoring our cloud based destinations from remote offices. We are using SolarWinds from HQ but through that we can only monitor routes to our remote offices. What we are looking for is a tool that can also help monitor certain destination from remote office using their public IP as source not HQ. If possible the tool should also generate an alert in case if the ICMP packets are degraded. The IP SLA option did not worked. We are using SolarWinds (Orion Core 2012.2.2, SAM 5.5.0, IPAM 3.0, NPM 10.4.2,). Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Can you share the ip sla configuration that is not working for you?
If you follow something like this example (used for route tracking there) you should at the very least get a syslog message when the threshold is not met. You would then send your syslogs to your Orion NPM server and define an Alert in the syslog viewer there to notify you when the ip sla operation reports a threshold violation.
See the Orion NPM Administrator Guide section titled "Configuring Syslog Viewer Filters and Alerts".

  • Monitoring tool suggestions please

We had a HA secondary farm go down last week (Cannot connect to configuration database), which has since been rectified. However, we need a way to monitor every farm to ensure that it is accessible. I'm thinking that we'd create a service account that would
try to reach a small testconfirm.txt file in a document library within one of the sites. If testconfirm.txt was not accessible, we'd get an alert via email.
Any recommendations? Infrastructure uses Solarwinds, though I don't think they're using it for this kind of monitoring. SCOM? Citrix Monitoring?
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
How do you check if the file is accessible?
You can use PowerShell to build a set of checks, send emails etc and run it as a windows task scheduler every hour or so on all servers.

  • Please suggest DB monitoring tool

Our DB have some performance issues, I need your suggestions to buy a DB monitoring tool to help us to resolve these problems.
If you can share your experiences on the tool, it will be the best.

    Hi,
We don't have enough knowledge on DB.In that case, beware of tools that make recommendations that you cannot understand . . .
Some advanced monitoring tools can be cryptic for beginners.
Is OEM or Statspack suitable to a beginner? Beware, the OEM diagnostic pack and the OEM performance pack are really expensive, over $6,000 per seat:
    http://www.dba-oracle.com/news_tuning_packs_price.htm
Plus, consider 3rd party tuining tools.
Historically, Oracle tools have had a bad reputation, and Oracle's Oracle Expert tool was widely criticized for making ridiculous tuning recommendations . .
Everybody has a monitoring tool to plug, I even have a few that I wrote myself.
There are a zilllion of them, but they all offer test drives, but try to find:
    - A monitoring tool that makes recommendations in plain English
    - A tool that is reasonably priced
    - A tool from a well-know vendor with a good track record
Lastly, if you are not familiar with Oracle tuning, it may be better and cheaper to buy an Oracle health check.
A guru can find tuning problems in just a few hours, faster and more efficient that using a tuning tool.
    Hope this helps . . .

  • Oracle EPM 11.1.2.1 Monitoring tools

    Gurus,
could you please let me know what are the available system monitoring or performance monitoring tools for oracle EPM 11.1.2.1 or in case licenses are involved what are the best key areas for manual procedures to monitor the system?
    Many thanks !

    Hello,
Monitoring is a broad term. There are many 3rd party tools available that can provide monitoring, it all depends on what exactly you're looking for.
Oracle has a document on setting up Oracle Enterprise Manager to monitor Hyperion Applications: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/sys9-oem-integration-1-129287.pdf. For performance monitoring, you can also look at this: https://blogs.oracle.com/pa/entry/epm_11_1_2_how3. This will basically connect to the JRockit JVM and look at the performance for the web application.
If you want to do more monitoring (services, servers, processor, CPU), you can look into Hyperic HQ: http://www.hyperic.com/. They have both an open source version and an enterprise version. I've used the open source version myself and it is pretty good and plays well with Windows. You can see many metrics, graphics and information via the web based application. You can also setup email alerts on certain activities (service stop, service start) and also monitor website availability. For being an open source software, I think it offers alot and it is very reliable.
Again, these are just a few suggestions. There are many tools out there that can accomplish what you're looking for.
    Regards,
    Luis

  • Recommendation for MDM monitoring tool

    Dear all
We are using MDM 5.5 Sp06 on HP Unix. What should we use as an monitoring tool?
CCMS and SMD is not supported for the above combination.
    Please suggest. Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Ravi

    Thanks Markus for the reply.
SMD is not supported for MDM 5.5 sp06 on HP UNIX platform. We got this confirmed in one of the SAP OSS message also.
since MDM 5.5 SP06 P4 we are supporting CCMS heartbeat again. The documentation is almost finished and waits for last rework - will be provided soon
We are not using P4, but if you can share the documentation or provide the link, it will help a lot.
Just to re-confirm CCMS heartbeat is supported for SP06 P4 on HP Unix. Can you please confirm this?
    Thanks in Advance-

  • Custome build PI monitoring tool

    Hello Experts,
We are in the process of considering PI 7.1 as the next generation of EAI solution.
We have come across a requirement to build a custom web based application to show PI monitoring data.
The current EAI tool comes with such a user friendly web based application  where bussiness users can see historic data about messages related to their bussiness units. We thought of having users to login to Run time work bench and see the message data, however, the RWB is too complex for the non technical users and it also have few components (performance monitoring, componenet monitoring) which end will not be concerned about.
Have anybody come across this kind of requirement?? Have anybody tried building a custome monitoring tool over PI in their PI implemetation??
Suggestion and comments will be greatly appreciated.
    - Rajan

    Thanks for the reply Prateek.
I apology for the late reply. The link you have mentioned talks about fetching the data out of integration engine tables.
I have following two concerns here about this approch if you would like to add your views on -
    1. What if the message fails while it is being picked by the adapter? Will this message state be recorded in the IS tables? My understanding is that this message state will only be stored in the adapter frame work tables which are at java stack.
    2. How much volume of data can be transported over the web service? What if I have thousands messages flowing throw the PI on per day basis? And using this web service,  I may search for all the message details for the messages passed through the PI system in last one day or one week??

  • RAC (10.2) Private interconnect monitoring tools.

Hello, I'm trying to find any monitoring tool that can monitor the Interconnect for my enterprise RAC environment, I suspect that we have some issue going on there but it would be great if i am able to get the historical data over a period of time.
I have tested Quest central for RAC (Spotlight) but it is way too costly. I have also enabled OS watcher but i am not very sure how to interpret the OSW private network output.
Any input would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,

Okay, please tell me if I use another node and use as shared storage then how to connect these raw disk to RAC nodes. Please give the procedure. This shared storage node only PC; not NAS or other expensive storage.
    Hi there,
Well, if you are using only two physical machines, chances to get the things done are small actually. The only option that I think you have is to configure NFS(which I believed I had suggested already) . Other than this, you need to find one more machine, may be of less computing power but should have sufficient storage and use the Openfiler software to use its storage as a shared storage.

  • Monitoring-Tools

    Hi,
are there any monitoring tools for web services. How can I observe my web service and tryck the accesses for it. Any suggestions?
    Regards,

I have written a free Java performance monitoring tool called JAMon that you might be interested in. It couldn't be easier to use and provides a wealth of information including performance and scalability statistics and more. Other features include the ability to monitor production code, and to disable monitoring at runtime.
To see the type of information that JAMon generates look at the following sample
    JAMon report:

To learn about performance monitoring, how to use JAMon, and how to
    download JAMon go to:

    Hi guys.
My company will be needed for a monitoring tool that will help assist the dbas in their daily activities. Yeah one can think of 10g grid, but can any one suggest for a more sophisticated tool that will help us record downtime details, capactity planning and all the rest? (even those that arent free).

Veritas I3 is a very good product (used to be called Precise for Oracle).
It will monitor everything from your storage server, to your databases (sqealserver and Oracle) to your web servers to your middleware servers and a few other things you probably never heard of.
Not blinking lights or pulsing data flow diagrams like quest. And is freakishly expensive and has incredible hardware requirements so there is a large TCO involved. The data is good, has SLA tracking, as much detailed history as you want. We kept the history at 6 months, so it was about 55 gig of storage for that.
But we liked it. We dropped it because it lost its bang for the buck and the hardware requirements was beginning to become more than the databases and applications it monitored.

  • Wi-Fi Network Monitoring Tool for Palm OS 5.x

    Hi there..
I'm trying to develop a 802.11b/g monitor tool for a Palm device (Tungsten C) using J2ME and it turns out to be pretty difficult or maybe even impossible.. meaning, I'm stuck. Since the J2ME VM is optimized for CLDC/MIDP enabled devices, it can't execute parts of the bytecode I used from jpcap. Same while trying to use libpcap with Java (using wrapper classes), it needs some of the J2SE classes which are not or partly supported by J2ME. So I was wondering whether you guys might have some suggestions to solve my problem (using Java)?
Thanx & Greets from Switzerland, Mike.

Any particular bytecode? Like maybe to do with doubles/floats? Or is java classes required by libpcap that are missing? I'm guessing you need deeper access to the 802.11 libraries to do monitoring. All you'll have in MIDP is the 'http' connector protocol.
