Monitoring ZUMO in Basic Tier

I happily use endpoint monitoring on my Azure Websites at a slightly greater price point, yet monitoring for Azure Mobile Services is only enabled for the Standard Tier, which is well beyond the requirements for our needs. We are using the Basic Tier, not
Free. There is a $115/mo difference in these tiers. That means we would need to spend about $1400/year for a simple monitoring function.
That seems rather silly, considering monitoring is available for Websites at well below those tiers. I would humbly request that monitoring be opened up at the lower tiers, perhaps with lesser granularity if it needs to be differentiated.

Thanks for the feedback. Could you please create an item on our Feedback site (http://feedback.azure.com/forums/216254-mobile-services) so that others can vote?

  • Is there a way to create basic tier Azurvm using new-azureVMconfig?

Currently with azure powershell version 0.8.0 I am able to provision new Azure virtual machines using a combination of New-AzureVMconfig | Add-AzureProvisioningConfig | New-AzureVM cmdlets.  This gets me standard tier virtual machines with parameters
for -instanceSize { ExtraSmall, Medium, Large, etc).
Is there a way for me to specify that I want a Basic Tier ExtraSmall vs a Standard Tier ExtraSmall ?
    thank you

    Hi,
As far as I know, we don't specify the Basic Tier or Standard Tier VM in request using Powershell. And the documents didn't show this property. We only change it on azure portal. About this issue, You can submit a feature suggestion on

  • Problem in Azure SQL Database Basic Tier

I have a WinForms Application was using Azure SQL Database (Web)
It was working fine with web version (for last 2.5 years).
After Microsfot's new offerings of New Tiers of Azure SQL Database,
    I tried Basic Tier.
Observation for last 24 hours according to Azure Portal when Database in
    BASIC state :::
    Successful Connections : 2 (Max), 1.5(Avg), 3(Total)
    Failed Connections : 0 (Max), 0 (Avg), 0 (Total)
    Throttled Connections : 0 (Max), 0 (Avg), 0 (Total)
    Deadlocks : 0 (Max), 0 (Avg), 0 (Total)
    Storage : 23.38MB (Min), 23.75MB (Max), 23.47MB (Avg)
    CPU Percentage : 0 (Min), 3.34 (Max), 1.14 (Avg)
Log Writes Percentage : 0 (Min), 0.05 (Max), 0.02 (Avg)
Physical Data Reads Percentage : 0 (Min), 0.01 (Max), 0 (Avg)
The WinForm Application working fine but there is some problem:
When a Report is generated (local .rdlc), the connection gives "Timeout Expired"
This problem occurs only in 25% cases (in 75% cases works fine)with same data.
If I upgrade database to Standard (S1) it works fine.
    QUESTION IS :
Resource Stats show it is using very low resources.
like CPU percentage 3.34 (Max), Log Writes Percentage 0.05 (Max)
and Physical Data Reads Percentage 0.01 (Max)
Why the report not works in 25% cases in BASIC state but works in STANDARD S1 state ?
The price of Standard S1 is 8 timeshigher then BASIC
    Thanks

    Hello Fanny,
    Thanks for reply.
I know it and that's why I mentioned different resource stats.
My database (BASIC) using only :
    CPU Percentage :  3.34
    (Max)
    Log Writes Percentage :
    0.05 (Max)
    Physical Data Reads Percentage :
    0.01 (Max)
While Microsoft says if any parameter goes beyond 80% usage then you need to upgrade tier

  • Displaying hostname in Basic Service Monitor alerts

    Hi all,
I've created a new Unit Monitor (specifically, a Basic Service Monitor) to alert when a particular service I stopped on any server in a group that I've defined. When I stop the service to test the alert, I don't see the affected server's hostname anywhere in
the alert. I see the source is set to the name of the group. This isn't all that useful, as I have to check every server until I find the one that the alert was generated for.
I've tried changing values in the Alert Description on the monitor, but haven't had any success here. It seems to me like the answer should be pretty obvious, but I'm stumped.
    Thanks!

First - monitors or rules targeting groups is a
    bad practice.
    http://blog.scomskills.com/best-practices-targeting-intro/
Also, getting hostname in the alert is a
    discovery issue.

  • Can you use a VGA monitor on the Mac Pro model?

I'm considering getting a new Mac Pro to replace my beloved PowerMac G4 MDD. I have a ViewSonic Graphics Series 19" CRT monitor (VGA) that I use as a palette monitor, with a 19" SyncMaster LED as my main monitor (DVI). My PowerMac's video card has both DVI and VGA ports.
Will I be able to use my VGA monitor with the basic Mac Pro (MB871LL/A)? Will a DVI/VGA video port adapter work, and if so, will it work well? Thanks.

I had two 19" Viewsonic WS monitors hooked up to my X1900XT on my MacPro and it worked just fine with the VGA/DVI adapters (I got the small 2" white adapters that don't have any "cord" in the middle. I swapped them out for two 22" WS Acer monitors and now use the DVI inputs and I am still happy.

  • IMac Dual Monitor, Mini-DP to DVI, Screen Blinking

2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo, 4 GB Ram. ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro graphics.
Been using Snow Leopard here at work, running dual monitors via Mini-DP to DVI cable. Never a problem previously.
Upgraded to Mavericks. Enjoying it. Until the 2nd monitor (Acer v223w) started intermittently blinking. Discovered I can trigger the blinking via the mail program on the second window - hiding and/or showing the info/mail activity left-side panel will cause the screen to blink.
    Kinda befuddled. Any help?

I am having the excact same problem. With nearly if not an identicle system.

    Display 2: ACER 23" Wide Screen AL2223W Display (1680 x 1050)
Since I updated to the latest version of mavericks the other night I have had frequent flickering and blacking out of my screen. It happens mostly when I mouse on or mouse off my dock menu, and open programs on the second monitor. There is also little yellow and organge flickers throughout the screen from time to time almost like an interference patter, generally 1px high and 20px wide with varying degress of static.
I have tried the following with no success:
    - Reset my PRAM / NVRAM
    - Reset my SMC
    - Deleted com.apple display related files
    - Used screenResX to try and find a different Display 2 options
    - Lowered resolution of Display 2
This is extremely frustrating because I am a web designer and programmer, and having my 2nd monitor not functioning basically renders my work station useless for me.

  • Compatibility of monitor & Apple g4

    Hi every one
Some one recommended to post my issue in this forum discussion. I hope I am in the right place & be able to get a more concrete solution.
    1. My old Ultra scan 1 600 HS series Dell Trinitron Monitor (Model D1 626HT D1 626 HT & the serial # is 55347B2 19 M69) is connected to my Apple computer via the Apple DVI-to-VGA adapter (101). When I turn on the computer and try to see the picture on the monitor screen What I see
is merely the blue apple screen, and no picture at all, not even the icons. If this is the wrong connection what kind of cables do I need for connection in order for me to be able to see picture?
    2. Assuming I can see picture on monitor screen, would this monitor allow accurate basic color calibration options such as hue and contrast?
    3. If for some unfortunate reason I cannot use the donated monitor from my son, what is the best way to preview my sequences on an external device?
    4. I was thinking to buy a HD Plasma Television (Model TH-42PZ700U Panasonic) to be able to watch the sequences with the best color. However, I am uncertain to buy it for the two reasons:
    (a) it is too expensive (b) even if I buy it it require calibration which. (c) Is it easy to calibrate and if so How? Do I have any software?
Any suggestions recommendations and solution to my issue of compatibility would be greatly appreciated. I sincerely thank you for your very kind help. golab

When you see that blue screen, that sounds like it may be extended desktop mode. This means the screen is active, but you haven't noticed because there is no dock, menubar or icons on it. But you should be able to move the cursor off the notebook screen and see that it moves onto the other screen which proves it is active.
When the monitor is hooked to the notebook, if you go into Displays preferences, you should see an Arrangement tab. Click on it and you should see a small facsimilie of the two screens, namely the built-in screen and the external screen. Notice that one of them has a little white bar across the top. This is meant to represent the menu bar. You can drag the little white bar from one display to the other and the real menu bar will then move from the internal display to the external display, making it the primary display. See if that works for you.

  • No playback to external monitor Premiere CC

    Hello all ~
Mid-job (and of course now that I need to color correct), PP CC has stopped exporting video to my external monitor.  I have tried trashing prefs (holding Shift+Opt at start-up) and it doesn't do the trick.  In looking around, I've noticed people having this problem when using some BlackMagic cards, but my monitor is plugged directly into the Thunderbolt connector of my MacBook Pro. I've enclosed my Playback settings.
Oddly enough, when I fire up my old copy of PP CS6 it plays back to my external monitor just fine.
I've had had enough late-night edits that I may have inadvertently initiated some keystroke that changed a setting, but I can't think of what that would be or why a Preference Trash wouldn't reset it.   Any help greatly appreciated.  Thanks much.

Well, after much poking and prodding I found out what happened and how to fix it.  If you look at the picture below, you can see that there is a row of razor-thin pixels pushing into my external monitor.  So basically what happened was that I resized the window and thought that I had dragged it completely onto my main monitor, but my Program Monitor and Timeline were still ever-so-slightly overlapping onto my external monitor.  When I moved them fully onto my main monitor, the video on my external monitor reappeared.
HOWEVER ( ! ), this does beg the question of why this problem remained as I did reset my editing workspace, I did trash preferences and I did do a complete uninstall/reinstall of PP CC... and still had the same problem.  Shouldn't  any one of those processes have put things back to where they were supposed to be? Where are these residual settings being stored, and how can you get rid of them if even a complete reinstall won't do the trick?
Would have saved a lot of time if they had worked as advertised.  Happy to be up and running (and color correcting) though and hope this can help others who might be having the same problem.

  • Flashing monitor in CS5

    Hello,
I need some help. I am using photoshop CS5 design premium. My OS is 10.6.4.  These are the specs for my mac pro.
      Model Identifier: MacPro3,1
      Processor Name: Quad-Core Intel Xeon
      Processor Speed: 3.2 GHz
      Number Of Processors: 2
      Total Number Of Cores: 8
L2 Cache (per processor): 12 MB
      Memory: 16 GB
      Bus Speed: 1.6 GHz
      Boot ROM Version: MP31.006C.B05
      SMC Version (system): 1.25f4
      Hardware UUID: 0613ACB3-FECF-5AE8-9CBA-353B667E52A0
The video card is NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
The monitor is a 30 inch cinema display.
I am having a strange issue in photoshop. After a few hours of using photoshop CS5 the monitor starts flashing a greyscale pattern over the entire monitor. The pattern is a banded pattern that starts at light grey at the top of the monitor and goes toward black at the bottom. It is semi-transparent and I can see through it to the file and desktop beneath the pattern. The pattern pulsates very fast and is kind of hypnotic. The pattern does not go away and I  quickly get the dreaded spinning beach ball and there is no way to escape from it without manually shutting down the computer as I can't  force quit photoshop or move out of photoshop.  Other times when I double click on a psd file to open in photoshop, the file appears scrambled and I can see the palettes inside of it all jumbled up, but this doesn't happen too frequently and more often I get the flashing gradient pattern that goes from black to white that I described earlier. The problem occurs on different files and is not confined to one user. It can start from asking photoshop to do the simplest thing like duplicate a file or create a new document.
These are the steps I have taken so far:
I have had Apple replace the video card but the problem still reoccurs. I have uninstalled and reinstalled CS5 and that did not solve the issue. I have run an extended hardware test which my computer passed. I have installed the update to photoshop which came out last week.
I think it is called 12.0.1.
The technician who replaced the video card mentioned that Adobe still uses an older technology that scrambles the files all over the computer. I am wondering if this is causing the problem.
What can I do? I am desperate. Adobe does not acknowledge the problem when I call or blames it on a faulty video card. The problem only occurs when I run Adobe CS5. It did not occur in CS3 which I owned before upgrading.
    Please help. Thanks.

I actually have no idea as I have little knowledge of cards and little technological prowess. I did an archive and reinstall which Apple tech support suggested. If that doesn't work then I can see that  a clean install of the OS is next. So far since the archive and install  I am not having problems, but that was done a few hours ago and I am just waiting for the issue to reoccur as it usually takes a while to begin and then increases in frequency.
If that doesn't work I will probably try reverting back to OS 10.6.3 as Chris Cox, the Adobe employee, suggested before I go out and spend money on a video card which for me is a last resort measure. Someone on Retouchpro suggested replacing the card with some others. Here is a link to the discussion.http://http://www.retouchpro.com/forums/hardware/30353-flashing-monitor-cs5.html Apple tier 2 technical support also told me that something is perhaps wrong with my motherboard, but they seem not very informed or aware of this issue. So far Apple tier 2 technical support does not believe the issue is being caused by my card.

  • Need new monitor advice

I've had a 24" consumer Samsung monitor for the past few years, and for the most part I'm happy with it, but since getting a Canon DSLR and Lightroom, I've been thinking about getting another that will show me the full color gamut of the camera. I was almost decided on the Asus PB278Q, which is supposed to show the full sRGB gamut but only 78% AdobeRGB. I don't know much about gamuts, but I had read a while ago that it was better to set the camera to Adobe RGB since it provides a larger color gamut and gives better prints, so I started doing that.
So I'm thinking that if I'm going to spend so much money on a professional monitor, I'd rather step it up a little and get one that allows me to see the full Adobe RGB gamut, for which this Asus model wouldn't work. One that does have AdobeRGB is the ASUS PA246Q, but the review on Anandtech says the black levels are not that great, so I'm looking at other monitors that provide AdobeRGB and good black levels. So I read about the NEC PA271W, but besides being very expensive I also read that its anti-glare coating makes highlights look grainy, so I wouldn't get that.
While I'm not a professional photographer yet, I'm advancing in that area and some day soon I would like to become one, so I would like to invest in a decent monitor that will show me the full color gamut. However I would like to ask from more experienced photographers, is the difference between sRGB and AdobeRGB that big a deal? I mean, if I put my camera on a tripod and take the same exact picture, one in sRGB and the other in AdobeRGB, with a monitor that displays 100% AdobeRGB, would I be able to tell the difference? I know I can't tell the difference in my current monitor, but it's a low end consumer monitor, even though the photos look beautiful. I'm just wondering if I buy the Asus PB278Q, which is full sRGB and only 78% of AdobeRGB, will I really tell the difference with a 100% AdobeRGB monitor.
So basically I would like to know, for professional photographers, how important it is to have a 100% AdobeRGB monitor?

Thanks for your reply. I'm 41 and I don't have cataracts, so that's not an issue. Here's what I'm trying to get at. I'm a wedding videographer, and I constantly see photographers carrying around Canon 5D Mark IIs and IIIs with lens sets that are  more expensive than the camera itself all together. I saw the same thing recently when I went to a local outdoor tourist attraction and it was 70 degrees and perfectly sunny, so there were about 20 different portrait photographers, each with their clients going around this place trying to find the best location for their shoot. All of them also had 5D Mark IIs and IIIs with very expensive lenses and so on.
I have a Canon 60D with the 18-200mm kit lens, as well as two other lenses, a 28mm and a 50mm, with a circular polarizer for those two, and a Speedlite 430EXII flash. Recently I spent a few hours with a friend and her family doing their portraits, and many of them turning out amazing, and even better once I tweaked them in Lightroom. This is not only on my 24" monitor, but also when displayed on a 46" TV set at full screen.
What I gather from this is that you don't need the most expensive equipment to achieve something great if you know how to use your equipment well, as long as your equipment meets the standards of what you're trying to do. I know that my photos wouldn't have turned out so great with a P&S, even if I would have shot them exactly from the same position.
Now, what I'm trying to ask is, does this reasoning apply to the monitor as well? I'm almost decided on the Asus PB278Q, even though the PA246Q has full Adobe RGB coverage, but it's 24" and I can really use all that extra space the 27" provides.

  • Broadcast monitor vs XRite i1?

After NAB I had finally settled on getting a "budget minded" Flanders Scientific monitor for our basic workflow of color correction and grading, etc. Then today I saw a webinar on the XRite i1 Display Pro. Apparently it can now calibrate to Rec 709. Can a $249.00 product do justice? We would, of course, loose the scopes from the Flanders, but I don't really need them since we have scopes in Premiere and are doing web delievery. The appeal is that we are beginning to do some mobile editing (MacBook Pro) along with tradational post in our online suite. Thoughts?

Well essentially the differences that your looking at when including a Colorimeter is color range. What you may want to do is look at the Asus 24 inch PA246Q IPS screen with that Colorimeter since it should have the same color ranges or close color ranges to Broadcast monitors.

  • Suggestions Please for a 27in monitor that shows photshop well for editing

thanks, I don't want to spend an Apple Monitor type price. But under would be fine.  Appreciate it.

Hey ear41, sorry for the delay - life! There are many variables involved
when comparing 24" to 27" monitors but the basics are pixilation spread. On
my Hp2711x I see no pixilation difference but I have on others. My old 24"
was beautiful, it was also 1920X1080 resolution, it's been repurposed as a
17" laptop dock monitor. The only difference I see is SIZE and I like it.
I'm really into CS3 animation and the larger screen really helps me define
detail, and it's all in the detail. I recommend you fine a store in your
area that displays these 2 sizes side-by-side and see for yourself before
deciding to spend the monies. All I can tell you is I love my 27 and would
recommend it to anyone/everyone. Hope this helps you! Oh, and I'm jealous
too - this photobucket shot http://img.photobucket.com/*
albums/v339/Inuyasha32/WP_**000072.jpg * is awesome. I've got to look into
this for my own setup. That's way too cool!

  • Can Premiere Pro display multiclip angles via transmit to an external monitor?

    Hello Forum,
Is it possible to have the angle view of multicamera viewable via transmit to an external monitor?  (via Blackmagic Intensity Pro)
Currently, it only displays the active angle.
    Thanks all!
    - Ryan

I've seen informational programs on working in an editing/grading suite with clients, even to doing so with say a client and the editor on one continent, and the colorist on another continent, with screen-sharing programs. Setting up to do that they had one monitor for their basic controls, a program monitor, and a larger (and spendy) b-cast quality monitor for the person running the station, and another monitor set to the side that could be switched to either show the b-cast monitor signal or program monitor OR the basic controls, depending on what they needed to show to the client. And this one was typically a calibrated but nowhere near as expensive monitor as the "working" monitors.

  • Separate Distribution Monitor Export and Import Processes on Multiple Machines

    Hi,
Would you kindly let me know whether it is possible (means officially supported way) to run Distribution Monitor Export and Import processes on different machines?
As per SAP note 0001595840 "Using DISTMON and MIGMON on source and target systems", it says as below.
    > 1. DISTMON expects the export and import to be carried out on the same server
I think it means that export and import processes for the same tables must be run on the same machine, is it correct? If yes, Export on the machine A, and then Import those exported data on the other machine B is not the officially supported way... (However, I know it is technically possible.)
    Kind regards,
    Yutaka

    Hi Yutaka,
Point no. 2 & 3 clarify the confusion. However let me explain it briefly:
Distribution Monitor is used basically in case of migration of large SAP systems (database). It provides the feature to increase parallelism of export and import, distributing the process across available systems.
You have to prepare the system for using DistMon. A common directory needs to be created as"commDir" and in case you use multiple systems for executing more number of processes of export and import then that "commDir" should be shared across all those systems.  And this is what the Point no.1 in KBA 1595840 mentions about. Distribution Monitor will run both the export and import process from the machine which is prepared for using DistMon and DistMon itself will control the other processes i.e. MigMon. No need to start separate MigMon.
For example: You are performing a migration of SAP system based on OS:AIX and DB:DB2 to  OS: HP-UX and DB: Oracle. You need to perform the export using DistMon and you are having 4 Windows servers which can be used for parallel export/import. Once you have prepared the system for DistMon which hosts the "commDir" you'll have to provide the information of involved host machines in the "distribution_monitor_cmd.properties" file. Now when DistMon is executed it will distribute the export and import process across the systems which were defined in "distribution_monitor_cmd.properties" file automatically.

  • Handling Locking for transaction in Middle Tier versus Database backend

    Hi,
If we implement middle tier with C# as the programming language and backend as SQL Server database, if we now wanted to implement locking where we take the classic case of money withdrawal from a bank account, we could implement this as a single atomic transaction
using locks / monitor in the middle tier or we could do this in a stored procedure and handle it using a begin tran commit tran in SQL Server.
What would be the recommended way? middle tier or sql server database backend?
    Thanks

    > the two different servers having the same middle tier executing the same code at the same time will be handled by the backend by putting one on hold while the other is being serviced.
Yes.  A SQL Server database provides a single coherent state repository for the whole application.  And you can use the database transactions to control which business transactions run concurrently, and which do not.
