Monitors will only clone not extend on HP 500-070

Hp Pav. 500-070 8.1 os hooked up another monitor but it will only clone and will not extend so I can use the other monitor the way I need to. Any help.
Both monitors run to a gigware splitter into a dvi femaile plug.

monitor showing only sleep mode and I have turned off and I have tryed to restart but no scrren but sleep mode.

Could be different things: Cable, video-socket in computer, or the monitor itself.
do you have the option of trying another cable or another monitor?
Perhaps go to a friend and see if they can help you.
In order to determine what's the issue, you'll need to do these tests.

Photoshop cs5 only reinstalls not extended

Hi All,
I have Photoshop cs5 extended. It has been on my computer before I reformatted my hard drive. Now when I load photoshop back, all I get is the standard version. What I'm I doing wrong? Is it because I didn't install the 32B with the 64B version?

I didn't realize that 32B version was the extended software and the 64B version is not.

SD Card only Autoplay not working - HP Pavilion 500 F6K54EA#ABU Win 8.1 64bit

Computer is a HP Pavilion 500 F6K54EA#ABU Win 8.1 64bit
When plugging any SD card into the reader on the front, autoplay doesn't appear, although the card is readable when opened manually with Windows Explorer etc.
The same cards work fine when using a USB adapter into the sockets beside the card reader.

I would suggest you to follow the below steps and enable autoplay and check
1: plug a sd card in the front port
2: Open autoplay by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type autoplay, and then click AutoPlay.
3: To turn autoplay on, select the Use AutoPlay for all media and devices check box.
4: Scroll to the end of the list and verify if you SD card is check properly too.
5: ClickSave.

Extend Wireless Network using a Telstra technicolor Gateway wireless Router to Airpot extreme but Airport will only except "join a wireless network (which it does) not "extend a wireless network" (Led turns yellow and I can not get a network working on the Airpor Extreme ethernet ports but can ping Airport extreme from Technicolor Router.
Airport gets it address DHCP.

Funny how I can ping the Extreme but the Hard Ethernet ports dont seem to work correctly.
When the AirPort Extreme is configured to "Join" a wireless network, the Ethernet ports are not enabled.
Oddly, the AirPort Express has a special feature that will allow it to to "Join" virtually any wireless network.....and the Ethernet port can be enabled. So, an Express would work for your purpose to provide an Ethernet connection to the media player. This assumes that the Express is located where it can receive a strong wireless signal from your main router.
Note that the Express will not provide any additional wireless coverage when it "Joins".

External Monitor will not display full view MS apps.

I have a HDMI monitor that was previously working fine. The other day I went to use Word and Excel and the applications would only appear in the lower toolbar. When I would select them they would not enlarge. They remained in a thumbnail view. My email and Internet work as expected. Any ideas what's causing this?

I have read your post on how your external monitor will not display full view Microsoft applications on your system, and that certain functions will not work on your desktop. How long ago did your applications work properly? I would be happy to help you, but first I would encourage you to post your product number for your computer. Below is a is an HP Support document that will demonstrate how to find your computer's product number. In addition, it will also help if you indicate which operating system you are using; and whether your operating system is 32 or 64 bit. The more information you can provide, the better!

Is the Windows Version on My Computer 32-bit or 64-bit?

What is the best compressor setting to use ... when exporting a 720p timeline from FCP for a project that will only be played back in a standard def monitor?

What is the best compressor setting to use for DVD StudioPro ... when exporting a 720p 30 timeline from FCP for a project that will only be viewed in a standard def monitor?

Update: The iBook can play any 480p video and higher if I encode them with DivX and in AVI format. But of course this is not compatible with my iPhone 4. At least I can shrink my library now and get away from the full MPEG-2s. I don't get why I can't use Apple's h264 though. There has to be a setting I am missing. The sample Apple h264 videos from the days of Tiger worked flawlessly on my iBook when it was new so the CPU must be capable of decoding it. I really can't understand this.
Also, since I made my videos in English for my family, I had to create soft subtitles for my wife's Chinese family, and I can't get players like QT with perian or MPlayerX to sync them properly to an AVI encoded with DivX, they only sync well with the iPhone 4 m4v/mp4 formatted files I made. This is a real pickle.
So now I may need three or four copies of each video, LOL. I need to hardcode the subtitles if I want to use AVI to playback on older machines, and keep the mp4 file for the iDevices too, while keeping higher quality h264 videos for my American relatives...
If h264 is compatible with my iBook, what is the proper encoding settings? Must I dramatically lower the settings or frame rate? I can settle on 2 copies of each video that way. One iBook/G4/eMac compatible video that syncs correctly with my srt soft subs, and another version that works well with my iPhone 4 and iPad.
All in all, I will end up with more than 3 or 4 version of each video. On my late G5 dual core I have the full 720-1080p uncompressed master files. On my i5 iMac I have the h264 compressed versions for distribution, and lower versions for my iDevices. Now I need to keep either full MPEG-2 files for the iBook to play, or convert to older formats like DivX AVI for our family's legacy machines. I am running out of hard disk space quick now, LOL.
Is there an easier way?

Hp s2031 monitor will not receive premium channels from cable tv, due to hdcp. what to do?

I am moving to a building with only cable tv reception. I plan on ditching an old, huge (not flat screen) tv and will use my hp s2031 monitor with a tv tuner that will receive from a cable connection. I will gladly pay for premium channels like hbo, starz, etc., but my hp s2031 monitor has HDCP, which apparently will block premium channels. Am I incorrect? Surely hp has a fix for people who are willing to pay for content. I cannot afford a new monitor, and I do not want to lug my current giant to the new location. The screen on my laptop is much smaller.

You are incorrect. HDCP (high definition content protect) prevents HD content from being sent over analog signaling. Since your HP s2031 monitor has both VGA (analog) and DVI-D (digital) inputs, you will need to use the DVI-D input to watch HD content. Your cable box will most likely have a HDMI output. To use this with your monitor will require a HDMI-to-DVI cable.

Thinkpad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video - extended monitor shows only mouse icon

I have been using my Thinkpad USB Port Replicator with Digital Video for quite a long time with my previous employer laptop. I recently switched job and got a new laptop (Dell XPS 3, Win 8.1). While installing/paring this laptop with the port replicator, I had some issues e.g. extended monitor not getting identified etc. I updated the drivers and now I am able to identify the extended monitor. But the extended monitor shows only the mouse icon and nothing else. I have upto date Intel HD graphics drivers installed in the laptop. Intel's Graphics control panel doesn't show the extend option for the USB monitor, but able to still move the mouce icon to the extended monitor.
Any help/pointers to fix this issue is highly appreciated.

I have the exact same problem on my W510. Everything but the screen Works. I cannot however do duplicate screens. That would help a Little bit, so I could use the big monitor instead of just the laptop.
Please fix this Lenovo!

Iconia w4 820 screen project only works on extend not duplicate

so I only get audio, no video. looked up the answer elsewhere on the community and apparently the answer is to download and install up-to -date drivers. 2 questions:1. should I haveto do this when my tab is less than 2 weeks old?2. I can only download not intall, the only options I get following download is to open or save the downloaded files. Feeling frustrated as the only reason I purchased this tab was to be able to use widi to project to my tv feeling let down by this product now. Any help gratefully received. TYIA

Hi Billsey, just thought I'd let you know that I managed to move things along - the problem wasn't the difference in screen resolution between the tab and the TV as I've finally got extended screen working and the picture is fine - not top quality but perfectly watchable for tv catch-up/movies etc. Just thought I'd come back to you as you were kind enough to help me and in case it's of use to anyone else with the problem. The display settings were set so that the second screen was the primary screen so as soon as I launched widi my tablet screen went black - still responsive to touch but black so in trying to alter the settings I was shooting blind - I could only see the TV screen and was trying to control it through a black tab screen. In the end I disconnected from projection so that my tab screen became visible, optimised my touch settings to make my touching the screen more visible on a projected monitor, re-connected the second screen and this time, although my tab screen was black, I was able (after a long while of fiddling about with it) to reset the settings to make the tab the primary screen. Unfortunately each solution brings its own set of problems but as it's essentially a different problem (can only extend to TV screen not duplicate and as TV is not touch screen and mouse pointer isn't visible on extended TV screen I'm back to shooting blind again) I've started a new discussion. Thanks again for your help.

G70-250US notebook synaptics mouse pad will not work & keyboard will only work until I log onto pc

I have a G70-250US model notebook with Vista 32. I decided to reload OS due to issues with mouse pad and keyboard. I still have the same problem whereby the mouse pad will not work and keyboard will only work until I log in and then it will not work. External mouse and keyboard will work fine. I tried uninistalling drivers for both and rebooting and letting OS find new hardware and install the drivers and this still did not correct. I even pulled down the synaptics driver from HP site and still not working. I checked the BIOS and it is the most recent. I am at a loss. Any ideas on these issues.

I have an old Dell Dimension 2400 I plan to use as a replacement for the Sony Vaio when it pops. I've held out as long as possible because it lacks a pci or usb wifi and I really didn't want to run 50 feet of cat5 up a flight of stairs to it. [as i type this i think i remember where a linksys stick for it might be]. Yes I guess it's about time I just do that.
Don't laugh but the reason I held off adding a simple usb keyboard was just lack of space in my tiny bedroom. My setup is on two tray tables side-by-side. Sony Vaio is on left one, my lcd monitor and mouse are on the other. I barely have room to put a cup of coffee on the one with monitor and mouse let alone a full size usb keyboard lol.

Airport Express (2nd) will not extend existing Wi-Fi network

I am currently trying to extend my home Wi-Fi network (Virgin Super Hub 2) using an Airport Express (2nd generation). It will run on my up-to-date Mac or iOS devices.
I am not able to get the Express to extend the network no matter what I do. I have had this problem really since I had it just under 3 years ago, but only now I really need it to work.
When configuring the Express to extend the network it will either:
1. Stay continually flashing orange after applying update, then say unexpected error.
2. Or just go straight to unexpected error

An AEX will only extend a wireless network created by an Apple Airport Extreme Base Station. If will not extend a non-Apple router unless you run an Ethernet cable from the router to a location from which the AEX can create a new Wi-Fi network that covers the remote location. The AEX is configured to Join the existing network - bridge mode.

For the moment there isn't a way for us end-users to control what is "matched" or "uploaded." That is purely a result of Apple's server-side algorithms.
To re-add multiple songs at once simply highlight all the songs you want to re-add, then right-click (or Control+click) the list and choose "add to iCloud."
