Hello! this is probably a really easily solvable problem but i don't know how to stop itunes from deleting the songs on my ipod that aren't in the library? does that make sense?
if i put an album in itunes then import to my ipod, decide to delete the album from itunes the next time i plug in my ipod itunes deletes it, annoying!!!! Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I changed to manually managing songs but i don't seem to be able to perform the basic task of just moving songs from library to my ipod, how stupid do i feel?!?!?!
I have an album in the library, just one cos i deleted all the rest, and want to add it to the others on my ipod, thought it would be simple but its managed to throw me!
Is it the case that the ipod can only hold whats in the library i.e whatever is in the library is on the ipod?
p.s thanks for the warning about having to store everything on hard copy somewhere.

Domain name/"primary DNS" name/mail host name/mail server name/mx name

Hi,
I have registered my domain name (N.com) with an external dns server and created an MX record (mail.N.com) for it as well. My server sits behind a router and internet traffic is port(80)-forwarded to my server's fixed internal ip address (I can access my webpages from the internet just fine). When I initially setup the server I was asked to give it a "primary DNS name." I naturally assumed that N.com was supposed to be entered here, but that just caused all kinds of problems (though I still do not understand why). So I reinstalled and currently have server.N.com as the primary DNS name of the server (although it shows up in Server Admin and Workgroup Manager as server.local--why is that?)
I have had no luck getting any email from the internet with the default settings in mail services (domain name of N.com and host name of server.N.com). Having no luck with the defaults, I assumed that maybe I needed to change the host name to "mail.N.com" so that it matched the MX record. I also changed the user preferences in Workgroup Manager to receive mail from mail.N.com--but still no luck. Could someone tell me what I am doing wrong and how come none of the Mail Service literature mentions anything about what a mail "host name" is supposed to be? Is it supposed to be the same as the "Mail Server" name that Workgroup Manager asks each user for? and is it the same as the MX record name?
I am just needing some help to connect all these variously named, but undefined, dots.
Also, how come I can access webmail from the internet using www.N.com/webmail but can't do it from any computers within my physical network (I have to use IPaddress/webmail or server.local/webmail)?
Also, should my user email addresses be [email protected] or [email protected] (which is the current default)?

My MX record needs the extra subname (such as "mail") in front of the domain name, right?
Not at all. A MX record for 'N.com' is entirely valid (expected, in fact).
An MX record tells remote mail servers where to send mail for any domain/subdomain. If you think about it, let's say you worked for Apple and you wanted people to be able to send email to [email protected], well then you need an MX record for 'apple.com'.
You can see if you dig MX apple.com that they actually have 9 MX records, but the point still stands.
Now, you might also have MX records for subdomains so that you can have [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc. Each of these subdomains would need a separate MX record.
So, in general, for any set of email addresses @[anything.]domain.com you have a MX record telling remote mail servers where to send that mail.
Of course the MX record name is mail.N.com, but I think you are implying that the in the Mail settings of Server Admin where it asks for domain name all I need to put there is the N.com, right?
What I mean is that you need to set the domain name to whatever domain name you expect to receive mail at.
If you want users to have email addresses in the form of [email protected], then you enter 'N.com'.
If you want users to have email addresses in the form of [email protected] then you enter 'mail.N.com'.
If you want both forms, enter one in the main domain and add the other(s) in the Advanced -> Hosting -> Local Host Aliases section.

Yes. Either the 'domain name' or the 'Local Host Aliases' needs to contain the same thing as your MX record. That's because the MX record tells remote servers to send mail to this machine, but the machine won't accept the mail unless it is configured to do so.
What is the "host name" supposed to be?
This should be the name that remote servers see when this machine tries to send outgoing mail.
Ideally this should match the reverse DNS of your IP address, that way when it connects to a remote server it says "Hi, I'm $hostname" and the remote server can lookup the machine's IP address and see the same result. This will reduce the problem of remote servers thinking you're sending them spam.
If you only have a single IP address then this probably needs to be something like 'N.com'. If you don't have control over your reverse DNS then you're going to run into a problem.
Also in the user accounts (in Workgroup Manager) what should the "mail server name" be? Is it the host name or the domain name?
Off hand, I don't know.
Also, why are all the default user email addresses [email protected] (the name I gave the server at setup)? Why doesn't the user accounts create [email protected] as the default address?
Presumably because the mail server says it is 'server.N.com' and therefore any accounts on that machine would be [email protected]. Changing the domain name (as above) should fix that.

A simple problem with natural join

i have 2 tables what have columns with distinct's names are referenced.
natural join not works 'cose only foreign key reference this 2 tables.
Have something to make table join in using an specific foreign key??

Contacts - Sorting by last name

I've read that Android 2.2 allows you to sort your contacts by last name, but I can't seem to find a way to do this on the Droid 2. It seems that the feature has been disabled either by Motorola or Verizon. Does anyone know of any plans to restore this functionality? Sorting by last name seems so natural -- it's a mystery why anyone would consciously remove it.

Natural Join/ Join.....Using

First there is no relation between employees and location ;-)
Second (as you presumed) you cannot use a qualifier for join columns:

Force Natural key on a column

I know the definition of a Natural Key but I don't know how to apply it for a column. For a primary key we have a syntax like "CREATE

Need urgent help with RAID failure on Graphics server (running OSX10)

Hey.
Here's the deal... Our graphics department has a MAC G4 (fully upgraded. newest patches, OS, etc.) that's got a 4 port SATA RAID controller. They use this with four 750GB hard drives as an external RAID (the OS is on a seperate, 65GB hard drive). The way it's set up, through Apple's OS, is we have the four 750GBs in pairs... those pairs are striped, and then the two sets of striped 750s are mirrored. This has worked just fine for a number of months, but we recently had a power surge, and now we're unable to mount "Monkey" (the name of the 1.4TB array).

If i click the entire array, you can see how it's set up (the Mirrored RAID set consisting of the two Striped RAID sets). The RAID sets (all 3 of them) are showing up as online, yet the drives are offline. No idea why. The drives are all powered, and are spinning, and plugged in.

when you click "Monkey Drive", nothing shows up in it. i don't remember if anything ever used to. if you click 'mount', nothing happens.

Really need help; this is a pretty critical problem. Someone that's familar with RAID solutions on MACs please help me out. We can't risk losing any data if at all possible.

Searching Archive for Older Mac 10.4 (non Intel) Computer Lost Flash Player

Hello Forum Users!
I'm sorry to bother you, but checked recent posts and knowledge base and cannot seem to find my problem listed.
Problem starts and ends with older Mac operating system (10.4.11, Yes, I am still using Tiger and my G4 is said not to be acceptable to Leopard so its time for new computer..but until then)....
I have only a 60 GB HD, and it was getting "full" so suggestion I received and someone helped me do it, was to eliminate all old "downloads" I was saving.
Fine....except that while I was cleaning up the older programs I "don't use" to get more room on the Hard Drive (I had less than 10 GB free and Apples don't like that on their Journal Drives), I accidentally "erased" (then threw out as trash to get room) the Adobe Flash Player. Not a problem! But now of course I remember that is "why" keep normally all "downloads" as files in case I do that....so no older download to use as my own archive.
Ok, not a problem! Go to Adobe and download a new Flash Player (Of course I can't use 10.3 and all the others you keep referring to, as I don't have an "Intel" chip operating computer, so 10.4 is supported by newer Flash Players but only those using an Intel chip which my computer doesn't have. (Lap top else I'd try all types of modificactions to work around the problem).
Sorry too many details, but rather let you know now than questions back and forth.
The final irony is that I know of Adobe's Archives and went "back in time" downloading and testing out various Flash Players (sorry, didn't pay attention so I did not ever have marked down which version of older Adobe worked with my 10.4.11).
So I tried all the 10.2's 10.0's 9's (even the developer ones) I hit the 8's and realized that maybe I'm not doing something right as I do think if you are using 10.3 now, that 8 versions should have been usable according to the June 2010 system requirement lists.
For downloading I select Mac "other" as my operating system since the current specificaitons for downloading list 10.4 to 10.6 as "Intel" based.
Did I leave anything out?
I really need Adobe Flash Player as most of the web sites are just refusing to display anything but words for me, so just boring now on web without access to all the content that Flash Player provides. (no more funny You tube videos either of course!).
Can anyone help me with my Adobe problem?

eidnolb: Here is what I found on the page with red "f" this time. But using Safari, the whole top of the page says "Flash" meaning that the red "F" is part of a Flash item that is not loading in Safari, but does load in my other Browser, Sea Monkey.
Using Safari I right clicked (was on wrong page sorry) and got the "ClicktoFlash---Settings" settings
I do not have regular "settings" anymore on my list just: Load Flash/Load all on this page/add www.Adobe.com to whitelist/ClicktoFlash Settings.
And in the Click to Flash Settings there is no box to uncheck for hardware acceleration. Only things like Options/sIFR Text Updates Uninstall (of course) version 1.5.5 if that matters).
I set up my account in Adobe using Sea Monkey which I do when Safari is fully being used for other purposes that day, so that explains why I got confused sometimes, the Flash Content in Sea Monkey "works" but the same page loaded in Safari does not work. I do have Firefox, but that has too many saved pages that have not been gone over to "unsave" them when I'm done either printing the contnet or saving the content or bookmarking it, so that is quite unusuable right now so I don't know if any of the flash is working or not on Firefox (and I don't have Chrome loaded in yet....maybe I read it was Leopard only? I forget why it is not
another choice for me).
Willener pat's (finally used a mirror!) suggestion I try the FP uninstaller again, I made sure it was done using Safari (Sea Monkey does not like it)....and despite it appearing for the higher levels of Mac OSX I tried it....
Its getting complicated. I can read the instructions how to do it in Sea Monkey, but Sea Monkey does not like the file (does not know what to do with it and offers my entire "Mac" database of applications i.e. word, etc to use it (very bad). Safari can use the file but I have to click on it without the accompanying instrtuctions to help me as they are not visible or printable anymore from within Safari without Flash. So I'm using the printed instrucitons from Sea Monkey to follow and Safari to do the downloading!
I'll work this out yet!

But the message reads:

But Guess What? The box is a "FLASH" item!! So I can't see what version is in there! (Catch-22 they call that!).
My company's Flash pages are showing up on both Safari and Sea Monkey, they pause then load even though I've not set them for "permissions" or "whitelist" on the ClicktoFlash" because the content is created by various people and they have bad web page habits so especially I do not load Flash immediately at my company's web pages, as it can hang or cause scripts to keep working so I have to stop it. That is why the person I deal with got me "ClicktoFlash" as just because I know how to create a web page, doesn't mean all the other ones I deal with know how!
I'm thinking at this point, should I try installing back in the version again? I guess no harm can come from that so I went back to eidnolb's version in original message and tried to load it in again.
Result is: nothing!
I clicked on your address in Sea Monkey and copied to safari and both don't work. "Page Not Found" Error.
This is what I clicked on to get the Flash installer 10.1.102.64 before! I know it worked then, why not now? So I'll use the copy I've downloaded before but why is the link not working now?

By the way....reading everything that came with the installer program (it appears for developers only as archived version), it says to "restart" system after uninstall. Maybe that is what I did not do, but I've closed and restarted my computer each time I leave so I know its been "done" in middle of writing your forum replies, I just save it elsewhere and come back to continue writing!
So closing and restarting everything had no effect. On the Adobe Find Flash Player Version page, I still can't "see" the box with version of Flash Player I'm currently running, as its a Flash box that does not activate. The other Adobe page with "red" F still does not show the me "red" F just a huge "Flash" box that I can't open.
So here goes with installing again from the saved version of download (by the by I'm now down to 9.46 GB free since I've opened and downloaded so many files so many times. Just don't know which to delete as nothing has worked yet!
Now it works! I think!

How to render outputlink as an area tag rather than an a tag

Hi all,
As stated in JSF document, both shape and coords are valid properties in outputlink. So, I have tried following

however. that is rendered as <a href="http://yahoo.com" coords="0,0,30,30" shape="rect"></a>, what I really want is
<area href="http://yahoo.com" coords="0,0,30,30" shape="rect"></area> ...
I mean if outputlink can only be render an a tag, but not an area tag, I do not see why it will support shape and coords propeties ...

Any thoughts? I've tried deleting the prefs and same behaviour.
mac pro Mac OS X (10.4.9)

My friend tar'd up the directory tree and I restored "Versions" under /System/Library/Frameworks/Quartz.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/PDFKit.framew ork
The shell, and finder do not show this directory, but I can 'cd' into it no problem. I did a repair permissions on the disk and preview is working again now.
If anyone can figure out how it got like this - or if there is a preferable way to repair it - let me know. I had to enable root access to fix this...

Better method than switch?

I have the following code.

But i was just wondering if anyone had other possible improvements on it, like a way of not adding a number to the end of each File inputFilex. Also, is there an alternate method to switce. I can't think of any myself, but that means i'll have to start working on a switch like above but containing around 500 cases in it this time.
Any suggestions appreciated.

EDIT: Or, possibly better, go with the other poster's suggestion of an array of Strings, whose values are the file names.

I am a writing an SQL Script so that I can re-create my database on another server (im using my laptop to test it on first though).
I'm connecting to mySQL server using JDBC which works fine, but I was wondering
how can I run an entire script file, say myScript.sql from within a Java class??
(an SQL Script is simply a file containing the regular SQL commands and expressions that you might enter at an sql command line prompt)
example of an SQL Scritp: monkeyDB.sql>>

The way I understand it is that your mysql.sql script file uses ';' as a delimeter between statements. So now what you can do is that read the whole file and put it inside a string/stringbuffer. Now put this string/stringbuffer to a stringTokenizer with delimeter set as ';'. this way you will recieve your exact statements without scratching your heads as where the statements begin/ends. :-)
Now once you have your statements than its just a matter of executing them against the database.
