Mono audio recording to stereo

How can I split or change a single track mono audio recording so it will play as if it was in stereo (dual Track)
I'm using Premiere Elements 12.

The Fill in or Fill Right effect is an effect.
Do you know how to use effects in Premiere Elements 12? Same principles.
When you are in the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace and have clicked on fx Effects/Audio Effects/, you should see the following. The instructions clearly state: Drag and Drop an Effect on Clip(s)
If you are a new user to Premiere Elements video editing, the Premiere Elements 12 Help PDF might be a handy reference to get started.

  • Mono audio tracks to stereo

I cannot get my mono clips to become stereo. I tried highlighting both audio tracks (one, is imported music/ two, is imported b roll audio) and doing option -L and it does not work. Cannot even get the stereo pair in the modify pull down to highlight.

I've noticed that since I've upgraded from FCP 4.5 to FCP 5, I can no longer change the audio track config of an offline clip in the browser. I used to be able to ctrl-click in the Audio column, and it would bring up a submenu where I could change from A1+A2 to Stereo.
Now there is no such option. Am I doing something wrong?

  • I did a "Bounce - replace all tracks" and now all my mono audio tracks are stereo... What's the safest way to get them mono?

I don't think I unchecked the "Include volume and pan automation" checkbox before the "Bounce - replace all tracks" conversion. I hadn't added any volume or pan automations I figured: you can't include something I haven't added, although I did probably have the pan controls set in the mixer. Anyway, now I want to convert my six (previously mono) tracks from stereo back to mono, preserving as much as possible the original mono sound quality before it was converted to stereo, so that I can start mixing. Every MP3 I've exported is ignoring the pan settings I have in the mixer, I suspect due to the fact that the audio for each track is now stereo (I changed the tracks back to "mono" in the mixer but the audio remains in stereo). Unfortunately I don't have any unused audio files in the audio bin and I killed the undo history as well.

Thats what I came up with:
As you can see I got a stereo file on track 1 to start with,
Now go to the corresponding channel strip and switch to mono,
Perform a BIP to a new track
and the result will be in mono.

  • Stereo Audio recording in Captivate 6?

Hi, I am having problems with capturing stereo audio in sync with the video, in Captivate 6.  I am making training videos for music software and have looped back the audio from the programme into Captivate, in order to record it's output.  It monitors fine, but it looks as though Captivate is only recording the audio in mono - and there are no settings to change this.  Is this the case?  I really need stereo sound on the input, otherwise functions in the programme cannot be demonstrated correctly.  I have looked through the forums and it would seem that stereo recording was definitely included in earlier versions (as it caused some users the opposite problem of sound from a microphone only appearing on one side).  I am using Captivate version 6 on Windows 7.  Please can you help me?  Cheers, Mike

    Hi Michael,
There is no option to select the audio recording as stereo or mono at time of recording.
Can you tell me that have you installed captivate as a part of suite or it is a stand alone Product?
If you have installed Captivate as a part of E-learning suite there is a software called as Adobe Auditon which also gets installed as a part of suite , which can serve your Purpose , It can record as stereo as well as mono. and you can directly insert the audio generated from this software in Captivate.
And In Captivate also there is an option in Edit > Prefrences>Publish settings.
You can uncheck the Publish as Mono option while Publishing and check if it works for you.
    Please check the screenshot
    Thanks and Regards

  • Cant record in stereo , mono input (aux in) intel ALC270 [Solved]

Hi there, i've been reading the forum but i cannot get the right answer to this issue.
I am trying to capture audio with the microphone input connector.
I tried it using audacity (as i always did with other distros but now is not working) and with this command arecord -vv -fdat foo.wav
The thing is, i always end up with a mono audio file. I see in alsamixer the input/capture connector is stereo, i can see the Left and Right volume levels
but modifing those make no difference.
Something seems to tell the whole system to translate the stereo microphone into a mono microphone or something like that... i am no quiet sure, cause in audacity the recording track shows a stereo track although both channels have the same audio track, the right channel one...
i was using this same computer not long ago with fedora, and for like 2 years with slackware and always worked fine... i've been using archlinux for 4 months now and i came across with this while trying to rip some new cassettes i got.
Thanks in advance for your help pals.
    Cheers!

  • Stereo Audio Record problem (While recording video as well)

    Hi,
I just just bought Sony Xperia C3 dual yesterday. I'm having problem with audio recording. I installed the Sony audio recorder from Google play store but while recording in stereo mode with it the gain suddenly drops after 1/2 second(s). Same problem while recording a video with stock camera app as well, video quality is fine but the audio with it is,just worst. Tried third party app like regorge pro but faced the same problem. Tried disabling the AGC with it, but no good. Recording in mono mode just works fine and I get clear record.
    Any solution?
    Thanks.

@uliwooly  This one i recorded today morning. The audio starts good & clear at the begining but just after one second it drops & then you can hear the bus engine sounds like waterfall. Here is the youtube link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5H1jNxyYMlw Here's another video uploaded by a review site with the same problem https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3vKwydfN6U & more from youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GLLj2ommP4  then i used a third party audio recorder with mic switch option https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D6d4uAEZFRE as usual with the rear mic the gain suddenly drops after second & you can hear some weird sounds like a "movie bomb" sound at 00:04, "rattle snake" sound at 00:05 & 00:12 & with the front mic starts at 00:17 you can hear the difference. It's mono but so clear & sharp.  Finally, as i dont have the mic swith option while recording video, all videos i record will have the same problem. This is definitely not  the typical "sony" thing to carry on.

  • Stereo audio recorder AAC 128+ Kbps for N8?

Is there a high quality stereo audio recorder available for N8?
The in-built app can only record at highest of 64kbps.
I'm looking for one with at least stereo 128kbps capability.
    Thanks a lot!

Im also very surpriced that high quality stereo recording isnt availible in the default recorder, as a musician i would have very good use of it recording rehearsals. The sound is pretty good in video recording.
As it is now it is actually fairly good for being mono (but ooh so 60`s ) and not so 2011 ) and stereo recording adds alot to the separation as well as the enjoyment of a recording.
I havent yet been able to find an app for this.
Please Nokia or someone else that have the skill, help us out with this !

  • How to convert mono audio to stereo during import?

When I shoot my videos for YouTube I use an external mic which works great but when my camera records it, it is mono sound, so only the left channel of my source videos contain the talking.
In the previous version of iMovie 9 I used to be able to export using QuickTime and convert the audio to mono so the final video which is uploaded has sound coming out of both speakers.
Honestly I don't care what format my exported files are in, as long as they're HD and the audio is good. So the new .mp4 file format is no problem for me with iMovie 10.0.1
In the lastest version of iMovie (10.0.1) I can't see a way to convert my mono audio to "real" mono or stereo sound (whatever it's called) so the sound comes out of both speakers. Having the talking only coming out of one speaker now makes me look like an idiot on YouTube.
I tried a stereo/mono adapter where the mic connects to the camera but it resulted in no sound. So I'm hoping I can use an audio fix somehow using iMovie 10.0.1 to fix 'er up. What are my options guys?
Yes I'm aware I can still use iMovie 9, which is what I've reverted back to until I can fix this problem.
    Thanks.

For now, I think that is the best choice.
You could also buy QuickTime Pro 7 which will allow you to do the same mono conversion that iMovie version 9 does.

  • Windows 7 switches from Stereo to mono upon record start ?

I'm beginning to regret Selecting Windows 7 (64bit) OS for my new Laptop (HPdv6) (IDTonboard sound for now)
intended in large part for audio recording -- ignoring what I had read about audio problems in this OS optomistically hoping the would be fixed already. XP had always performed well for me. Here is my current problem which I've really been fighting for weeks in a Trial Copy of the current Audition without success.
Although I do have Ausio driver -- the built in Audition driver seems to work best , and I get everything ready to go selecting stereo 44100 16bit file to avoid confusing the many issues I've been having, press f10 to Double check in the edit window that I am actually getting differentiated separate stereo tracks --- then press record button --- and thats it -- from there on out two identical tracks that might as well be mono.
Again and again -- I have no idea why -- and with all of the problems I've had with windows 7 I don't really blame Audition --- but I would sure like to figure out how to fix the problem. I've all ready read Microsoft forums and there solution is to blame any third party software for problems that are very obviously within Windows 7 - so I'm not optomistic about looking for help in that direction (grin!)
    thank you

So in the Edit View Hardware setup, what input setting do you have as a default? If it says something like [01M] then that's what you will record - mono on both channels. What you need is to select a default that says [01S], if that isn't what you already have. If it is - well, then I'm not sure what's happening at all, because for reasons that you've already alluded to, I'm using XP - simply because I'm a pessimist, and we get all the nice surprises if something actually does work...
Optimists are only ever going to get disappointed by the real world, I'm afraid.

  • In which steps of Logic E. can I make a stereo audio recording track with a right and left microphone?

I  want to make a stereo recording with a microphone for left and one for right. Can someone tell me the Logic steps to record 2 tracks (mono left and
mono right?) at once, to make a stereo track from both tracks?   I use Logic Express 7.

I think it is easy if you have an audio interface that has two mic imputs. You direct each of them to two different mono audio tracks. Then, at the time if playing it, you just pan one channel to the left and the other to the right.
I think this is what you are asking for,
    hope it helps

  • Problems with imported mono audio with stereo HD video FCE4

This is with Final Cut Express 4.
So here is what I am doing: I am recording video of my flight lessons inside my airplane with a mounted Panasonic HDC-TM90 HD camera.  Since it is noisy inside the plane, I am using an Olympus VN-4100PC digital voice recorder to pick up the Air Traffic Control and Intercom within the airplane (between me and my instructor) which is 22 KHZ mono.  I am doing this because I want the sound of the airplane and also the communication so everything works together and you get the best of both worlds (otherwise you would hear one or the other and that's pretty boring).  Ok, enough with the intro.
Here is what I am having problems with -- when I get the video, stereo audio with the video and the mono audio all lined up in FCE in my timeline, it starts to get out of sync about 10 minutes or so into the film.  And it gets worse as the film goes on.  This is driving me nuts and I have NO idea out to fix it.
The only thing I can think of is that my Digital Voice Recorder is recording at a slightly faster speed than the camera's audio and this is why it gets out of whack.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?  Or at least give me an explanation why it is happening?
    Thanks for any help!!

Thanks for the reply.  I did this and it still doesn't seem to be matching up properly.  Tell me if maybe I missed something.
    1. I took the original .WAV file from my Digital Recorder and imported it into iTunes and then converted it into an .AIFF.
    2. I took the .AIFF file and imported it into MPEG Streamclip and exported it as another .AIFF file that was Stereo and 48kHz.
Is there a step I missed?

  • M Audio Fast Track not recording in stereo

I purchased an M Audio Fast Track to use with Garageband.  I'm running OS 10.7.2 Lion.  The M Audio website says its compatible with Lion.  Both my vocals and guitar, bass only record in mono even though I've got the audio input set to stereo.  I set the input in GB Preferences for the M Audio DAW.  The Garageband software instruments record in stereo but they're not going through the DAW.  Am I doing something wrong?  BTW, I'm a beginner so...and help will be appreciated.

  • Stereo vs. Mono Audio Tracks - Why?

I tink one of the most annyoying features of Premiere is the way it handles audio tracks.  I'm curious if this is just me or if anyone else out there is bothered by the same thing.
I work on a kids' show that has lots of music, sound effects and often 4 different mics for the actors at the same time.  Since I record 2 mics on each cam (R and L), I like to import everything as mono clips so it breaks up my audio and I can label who's on what layer/track.
Sometimes I end up with 20 different audio tracks.  Not because I NEED 20 layers, but because some of my SFX and music come in as stereo and others as mono and I can't put a mono-clip on a stereo clip or vice versa.  This is the part that drives me crazy.  I might need to add a 1-second swoosh SFX for some text coming in and I've got to go to layer 12 (scrolling way down), when just below the video there are 11 empty layers "available" but can't be used because they won't accept placement of that track because it's in stereo when the clip is mono.  Make sense?  So, really, instead of needing 20 tracks, I could EASILY get by with 10 IF Premiere had a way of not being so picky about whether a track is stero or mono and could just handle whatever you dish at it.

Maybe I have just used PrPro long enough, that I accept the Audio Tracks and channel-count. It makes perfect sense to me, but then maybe I am missing something important. If one does not have the necessary Audio Track, PrPro will create one for you.
This ARTICLE goes into much more detail.
Only thing that I would like changed, is the ability to drag Audio Tracks up/down, like on many DAW's. Otherwise, there is a little "dance," that needs to be done, to organize Audio Tracks.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • My external audio recording device only records to the right channel.  How do I send the sound in the right channel thru the left one in Final Cut to get a full stereo sound?

My external audio recording device only records to the right channel.  How do I duplicate the sound in the right channel and run it to the left one in Final Cut to get full stereo sound?
I've already copied and pasted the right channel (A2) onto the left channel (A1) but that just doubled the volume on the right channel.
For instance, when I listen to my audio with headphones it only comes thru the right one.  How do I make it so that it comes thru both headphones?

Stereo is something else. It is a sound field where the individual elements are located through varying the amount of electrical energy for each element delivered to each channel.
What you have is a mono source that should be panned to center. This will equally divide the signal so it will be delivered out both the L & R channels.
Load the original clip to the VIEWER and set the PAN to 0 (zero). Delete any duplicates. They are unnecessary.
