Mono sound when test movie/publishing

Hi,
I have a sound file which streams on my root time line.
This sound plays fine in the library but when I test movie/or
publish the sound plays in one speaker only.
I have tried publishing in different settings it doesn't seem
to make any difference.
Never had this problem before only in Flash 8 Professional.
Anyone have any ideas why this is happening.

try wav instead of mp3 ?

MAC | stroke style stipple crashes on test movie/ publish in cs3 cs4

stroke style stippled crashes when testing movie or trying to publish.
I have done some tests where I've drawn a random animation of just strokes say 10 frames with a solid style. Then I've used the same animation but changed the style to Stippled (also with edits to that stroke style ie very dense) and it CRASHES when i try to play the movie.
This is VERY frustrating for such a seemingly simple change on such a basic part of flash!!!!!!
This problem is on cs4 and I have also check Flash cs3 at my uni and it does exactly the same when i tried the test again (I made a new clean animation just to make sure it wasnt the files falt)so its not a problem with my computor but the software!
found out this search result with the same problem http://www.actionscript.org/forums/archive/index.php3/t-41241.html so im not the only one...
is it just on the mac versions?
This is very anoying as i have a project in on friday and thought this style went with what i was working with

Like I said, it is hard to be certain.
As far as I am aware, issues with Snow Leopard are specific to font anomalies in 10.6.7, and the fact that you cannot use the OS's printing system to produce PDFs via File > Print from Adobe applications. Do you have a link or citation for the issues you read online?
So, reasons to suspect Adobe: running the Adobe installer triggered the problem; Adobe programs crash and they crash in Adobe code;
Reasons to suspect Apple: it's not a single program crashing; the crashes don't seem to make sense; crashes happen for both CS4 and CS5; crashes affected non-Adobe programs (that is what you meant by "all my programs," right?).
So, my intuition is you should try an OS reinstall.
Though even if the root problem is the OS, Adobe probably has some blame here -- Adobe's programs should not crash. So you can certainly take it up with Adobe and hold firm to the line "your program should not crash; why is it crashing" and ultimately they should be able to tell you why (based on the crash report, and perhaps other things). But the answer may turn out to be, "because this Apple subsystem is broken. Fix it and our programs will stop crashing."
Have you looked at the logs in Console.app? They might shed some additional light.
Also, since you have recently reinstalled the OS, you are probably in a good position to reinstall the OS. Most people are reluctant to do so because they have a lot of data and applications, and it's a huge pain to preserve them. It sounds like you're not in that position, so doing that reinstall is relatively easy. I would therefore do it just for the peace of mind.

Lost all my sound when playing movies and shows from internet

i seemed to have lost all sound when playing movies from internet. i still have "system" sounds and beeps?

The speaker is not that good but maybe yours is defective if you have the volume fully raised.
- Try cleaning out/blowing out the headphone jack. Try inserting/removing the plug a dozen times or so. There is a little switch in the headphone jack that disconnects the speaker when the headphone jack is inserted and have a poor contact.
Try the following to rule out a software problem
- Check also Settings > General > Accessibility > Hearing. Make sure that the sound balance is not set all the way to "R" or "R".
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost

least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
- Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Seems you have a bad headphone jack or other hardware problem.

No sound when viewing movie in Windows browser

Hi.
I posted a video on my website and it plays fine when viewed on any Mac browser but plays without sound when viewed with IE after booting Windows XP under Boot Camp. The following message appears under Windows when the video is selected:
"Additional software is required for QuickTime to play back this media. It may be available from the QuickTime Components page."
I couldn't see anything on the Components page that seemed suitable.
The video was taken with a DV-PAL camcorder, edited in iMovie HD and exported to QuickTime movie with Expert Settings using H.264 codec and MPEG 4 Low Delay AAC sound setting at 48 kHz (the only available rate option) and 160 kbps bit rate. As well as the original soundtrack (dialogue) the movie has an imported music soundtrack consisting of two files, one .mp4 format and one .m4a format. I assume it is these imported tracks that are causing the problem, since I have QT Pro on my Mac, but only the free QT on Windows. All the other movies I have posted only have a single soundtrack (either original camera soundtrack or imported music, not both), and all play fine on both Windows and Macs.
My question: what do I need to do to make my movie play without problem on any platform, without additional software being required by the viewer?

I solved the problem by re-exporting my movie with IMA 4:1 format sound. This doesn't compress as much as MPEG 4 Low Delay AAC but at least IE8 can handle multi-track sound with it. IE8 can handle MPEG 4 Low Delay AAC encoded SINGLE-TRACK sound fine, just not (apparently) multi-track. So if your movie only uses the original video soundtrack, or if it only uses a music track (with a slideshow, for example), it'll work fine. But if you have both, for example fading dialogue and music in and out, you might want to check that it plays as expected in the Windows IE world. If your movie plays without sound in IE, try another sound format. I didn't experiment with all the iMovie sound export options as I struck lucky first time with IMA 4:1.
I learned about and recommend the free program IE Tester (http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage) from another poster here. It allows you to test web pages with IE all the way back to version 5. If 80% of internet surfers use IE (as some claim), we Mac-users really need to test our sites using this browser. My problematic movie now works fine with all tested versions of IE.

Setting flashvars in AS3 when testing movie

Does anyone know how to set flashvars when running a movie in CS4 using Control->Test Movie? Under ActionScript 2 I could just set _root.flashVar, what's the equivalent in AS3?

In AS3, the flashvar parameters don't appear as top level properties, they are found under "root.loaderInfo.parameters". So I can look up a parameter like this:
trace("myVar=" + root.loaderInfo.parameters.myVar);
I'd like to be able to do something like setting this parameter in my test code like this:
root.loaderInfo.parameters.myVar="test value";
...but this doesn't seem to work. No error message when I try this (either running "Test Movie" in CS4 or running in Flash Player in FireFox). Looking at the doc page for flash.display.LoaderInfo, it says that the "parameters" property is readonly.
I wish there were some kind of dialog in CS4 to allow me to set up flash vars for testing under Control->Test Movie, but if there is such a thing, I haven't found it yet!

Need trouble shooting advice. When playing movies I'm getting no sound / playback freezes. Tried uninstall and downloaded newest version still no improvement. Music playlists work fine.

Why is the Sound Muffled when testing movie?

I have some areas in my app where the sound is muffled when I test the movie. However, when I played back in the development environment it sounds normal.
All of the files are mp3.
Do anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for your response, but I don't think that's the case; the jack fits all the way in the female jack on the phone and clicks when it's fully inserted.
As I said above I originally thought it was just a crappy quality audio cable (it only cost £5) and just accepted it. But last weekend my friend was at my house and wanted to show me a song on his iphone 4, I warned him that the quality through the cable was terrible but said he could show me anyway. We plugged the minijack into his phone and to my surpise it sounded great!
Is there a physical difference between the jacks on the iphone 4 and iphone 5 and could that be the cause??

No sound when burn movie to dvd (premiere elements 3, sony vaio, vista)

When I burn a movie to DVD using premiere elements I end up with no sound.
Analyzing the VOB with avicodec reports it has no audio track - and I get the same problem if burn to a folder or direct to a disc.
Exporting to mpeg or other formats works without problem.
Also - when I try the burn, I find a large .wav file in the temporary files folder, which seems to match the sound the DVD should have.
But for some reason PE isn't combining it into the VOB?
My current workaround is exporting as mpeg, and importing this to moviemaker and burning from there - but it's a pain to do this.
I saw some posts about this topic from last year - and mentioning VAIO as a common factor - but none of the sugggestions there have worked, and I can't find any solution/new info. Apologies if I've missed something in the forums.
Any info/suggestions would be much appreciated!

Sadly, we see a number of problems that are unique to the VAIO.
Sony is notorious for rewriting the operating system to fit their needs. Still, you'd think, if Premiere Elements came bundled with it, it would at least work with the system.
I highly recommend manually updating the operating system and firmware (these things become outdated weekly, and outdated firmware can really wreak havoc on your machine), clearing off the junkware, optimizing Vista and making sure you have the latest version of Quicktime and, if you're using Premiere Elements 3, that you have installed the 3.02 patch. URGENT issue with testing movie / publishing

hello, i am creating a presentation for my coworker in flash. let me start by saying i am in no way familiar with this program. i am planning on learning more, but for now my task is specific to this assisgnment.
basically i have one large timeline the is the background. this image moves around and then i have a number of jpegs that i've inserted that appear and dissapear at certain frames. i have a next and previous button inserted in and code that tells those buttons what frames to go to. my coworker then makes his presentation and can move linearly through his presentation.
i have now completely inserted all of the content in. it's about 1000 frames, 100mb and around 40 or so imported images. for some reason i can't seem to test the movie or publish it. when i try to do those things, the box comes up saying exporting swf and then the bar doesn't move all the way across. it closes and nothing is exported.
any suggestions would be immensely appreciated. this is a deadline sensitive project and frankly i have nowhere else to turn.
are there any file restricitons or limitations i'm not aware of?

Lots of variables so it's very hard to say what the problem is.
My suggestion is to cut the timeline into pieces (just 200 frmaes or so) and test various sections Use only as much actionscript as needed to navigate to the first 200 frames or so... see if one particular section is a problem... if even small sections don't work, then size had nothing to do with it.
Then put 400 frames together and test again... then 600, etc.

Sim Controller Doesn't show up anymore when testing movie

I am publishing an app on AIR for Android 3.2 in Flash Pro CS6. Everything was working fine, but then all of the sudden the Sim Controller stopped coming up when I test my movie.
The app makes pretty heavy use of the swipe feature, and without the sim controller I have to debug-publish to my phone every time which is quite annoying.
Has anyone else encountered this problem?

But to answer your question, you can't just drag and drop things in the library list.
Try organizing them into folders to make it easier. Also, you pull out the library panel so that it's really wide you will see other columns. Click the heading of those columns, and you can sort everything by date modified or alphabetical by as linkage.
Did you use a decompiler or something? why are your movieclips numbers instead of names?

Flash CS4 Crashing when testing movie

I am running into Flash CS 4 Professional crashing when I
test (ctrl + enter) or publish my movie. The final swf file turns
out corrupted as well. How do I fix this problem?? I am using Flash
Player 10.

Thanks for your reply. I have the 10.0.2 Flash update on my pc, I'm not sure about the machines at school but I'm guessing they do as well. I also have 6gb of ram, and am running 64bit windows7. The pc's at school are new Dell's running widows7 and I would think they have at least 4gb of ram. I've attached a file that crashed when I scrubbed the playhead on the pc's at school. I don't have that problem at home. Thanks again for your help.

ITunes 11.1 problem: no sound when watching movies!

When I try to watch video on my Thunderbolt display (27 inch) connected to my MBP Retina, everything is fine....untill I go full-screen!!! Then I don't have sound anymore, only video!
Can anyone help me out on this, or do I have to wait for iTunes 11.2???

PS I could perfectly watch videos with sound on my Thunderbolt display with the previous iTunes.

I think I just found a solution. I'll explain what I did but you may not need to do some of the steps that I did.
First, I downloaded an older version of iTunes.
Then, I backed up my older library from the "previous" folder.
I used terminal to remove the iTunes (11) application using the rm -fr iTunes.app
Then I was able to install the previews version of iTunes that i had downloaded.
For me, this older version didn't work. It gave me an error -42408 when I launched it and it wouldn't play my rental anyway. Too HD perhaps?
So, I went into software update in the App store and upgrade to iTunes 11 again.
I rebooted, played the movie and went full screen... SOUND!
Something in that procedure makes sense. I'm just not sure what. I hope it helps.

Why no sound when exporting movie?

Pretty new to Quicktime Pro.
When I try to export a .Mov file for email purposes (or any other setting) the sound option is greyed out and the movie exports with no sound?

Window menu > Show movie info
Look in the Format: field
Note that QuickTime Player may fail to display any audio information for some files.
In MPlayer OSX:
Show the playlist window if it isn't already visible.
Drag the movie file into the playlist window.
Select the movie in the list
Click the "i" button for info
In VLC
Open the movie in VLC
Window menu > Info
Click the black triangles so that they point down
Note that VLC does not display the file format, only the format of the content (audio and video) within the file. A file ending in .divx for instance, is probably in actuality an avi file but VLC doesn't show that information - MPlayer will and QuickTime Player will - if - QuickTime Player will open the file to begin with.

Flash CS5.5 freeze issue when testing movie.

So I've been working on a new animation for several months and I've encountered a problem.
Details: After exporting the swf by testing the full movie, it plays the first four scenes, and then after that it crashes.
The symbols keep going but the movie does not progress past that scene.
I've cut the scene out, removed filters from my vcam and even tried to run it on an older version of Flash.
I read a few forums of people with similar problems and the general answer is that they have corrupt files in their library.
Apparently corrupt files in the library have a 'Preview not available' sign when you click them in the library.
After going through all my library items (It's over 2000) I do not have any with that sign.
I really need help as I've worked real hard on this project.

The number of frames in each scene doesn't look like a problem.
I would suggest you to Keep one scene and split your elements in Movie Clips instead of creating different scenes.
Your explanation suggests that your scenes run continuously and there is no interaction by the user. So you can easily use 6 movie Clips in the timeline instead of Six Scenes.
Let me know if this solution resolves your issue.

Very slow when testing movie

I've built a flash project that has multiple alpha tweens etc. Yesterday and all days prior, it ran fine when I tested the movie (using preview mode in flash) but today everything is dragging. The tweens stutter and the whole movie seems to chug along without the smoothness I've always seen.
Here's what has changed:
When I tried to open my latest version of fla project today, I got an 'unexpected file format' error. (Other earlier versions open fine.) I searched on that error and found this: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4586656
...which recommends an update:
Adobe Flash Professional CS5.5 Security Update 11.5.2
I installed that update and restarted my computer.
That file now opened ...but now all fla projects are very, very slow as described above (Not just that one that wouldn't open before). Tweening background images even vanish at one point. I'v rebooted without improvement. (It doesn't seem to affect the SWFs exported from those fla files.)

Win 8.1 (updated from Win8 couple days ago)

According to MS it's compatible with Windows 8.1 and Adobe states the same. If you did an OS upgrade, are you sure you updated everything you can (windows updates, drivers, etc)? The GPU is being used more and more putting a huge emphasis on keeping drivers up to date.
