Month selector in ical?

Hi folks
On iPad if in month view you can use a slider to move along and select which month you want to view, same for week view. Is annoying to not have this on Mac. Except I had a conversation with someone once who thought you could. Anyone any idea if it's possible? I've hunted around. Surely that'll be something in the Mountain Lion update? It's very useful on iPad.

Last thing about iCal which I think could be fixed, is that it would be easier to type down events and making line-breaks if one whouldn't have to hold 'Alt' in while doing it.  I make line-breaks much more often than I finish editing an event (in which case you just press enter or click outside the event you were editing).  It would be better to press 'alt' + 'enter' in order to finish editing an event, and reserve the action of just pressing 'enter' for line-breaks.  This, btw, was also this way in iCal 4.
Ok, last last thing: in the preferences of iCal one can add a default alert to all new timed events and invitations and one can specify how many minutes before one wants to be alerted.  I do not want to add a default alert to all new events/appointments, but I would like to be able to specify the default number of minutes put on all new alerts that I put on events.  It seems quite intuitive to me that the default number of minutes one can specify for every alarm added to events by defult (if that option is checked in the preferences), should be the defult number of minutes set to alarms one manually puts on events, in stead of the '15 minutes before' default that is in the system and which seems to be unchangable.
If it says '0 minutes before the start time' there, then all alerts that I manually put on events should have this value put to zero by default!

  • How do I print monthly calendars in iCal 5 with location?

    Hello,
Our office uses iCal to manage our schedule. I cannot get a monthly printout from iCal that displays location information i.e. information entered as location on iCal. Previously on our windows machines we had to use Outlook Calendar Assistant for this (which I still can't understand because this seems to be a very trivial problem, at least to me). The printouts are demanded by some older employees that absolutely need paper versions.
Can I export an iCal file to another program to print my calendar the way I need it? Can I do it from iCal directly? Outlook 2011 isn't an option at the moment because it does not sync with Google Calendars yet. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    With pleasure!
Great to know it worked for you

Not as far as I know - but maybe things are different in iOS (I'm on OS X)

  • Not able to create an event in month view of iCal?

I used to be able to create an event from the month vien of iCal, and it doesn't work anymore. Anyone knows how to fix this?
    Thanks

So sorry to not have a solution but I wanted to chime in and say "me, too!". Not only create an event, but I can't edit it in month view, either. I thought it was my entire iCal program, since I just upgraded to Lion today, but after reading your post I realize I can edit events in week mode, just not month mode.

  • Mini Month View in iCal

Can't say I like the new iCal running on Lion. One feature that I can't seem to find is the mini month view. I did away with my paper calendar for viewing full months because of the mini month calendars on my Macs.
Is that functionality gone? I've searched preferences and menus and can't find a way to turn it on.
So many things about this new iCal that I find I do not like. I sure hope updates are coming to fix it.

  • How to print monthly view in ical

I have the most current version of ical.  It wont let us print a monthly view.  It only lets us select fro day or list.  I am sure i am doing someething wrong, but I dont know what.  Running MAC OS X 10.5.8.
    Ical version 3.0.8.

    earlnkids,
The text size selection should be available in the first page of the iCal print options:

  • Can't print a one page month view using ical 3.0.1

I can't seem to print a page view of a month using ical 3.0.1- the newest with Leopard. When you go to the print window, view only gives me day or list as a choice. There isn't a monthly option like in the support quides for ical 2.0. Has anyone had any luck printing a month on one page since upgrading to leopard?

I don't think you can do that in a direct way, although you could create a calendar, and move the event you want printed to that calendar, then go to print, select list and then only select that calendar and you will only print that event you wanted to print.
    hope this helps

  • I was able to print my month view from ical, but no longer is "month" an option. I can only see list and day. Please advise!

Just curious...about two weeks ago I was able to print my ical calendar in month view. For some reason, "month view" is no longer an option in print mode. The only two options I have are day or list. Not sure how to print in month view now or retreive that back. Please advise : )

Be sure Safari does not have the Block Pop-Up Windows preference set.
Where I work now there are several unencrypted VLANs that require authentication, and Safari promptly pops up a window for me to register every time.

  • Unable to Edit month field in iCal

    Hello all,
I'm having a very strange problem with iCal. I can not edit the month field of any event. The field always shows "01" (no mater the month) and when I try to move the cursor to edit it, it jumps over the month field to the year. This happens for all kind of event in all calendars. I have been to an apple store and show their support team the issue but they seems to have never seen anything like that before and asked me to reinstall the OS, which I did but no chance... still the same issue. Has anyone encounter such problem before? Any idea how to handle this? It is very annoying. I'm an over 20 year Microsoft user and shifted few weeks ago to Mac ... very cool but these small things are killing me :-(! Please Help!
    Thank you in advance!
    - a.

Ok cool, I have changed the time displayed to Military 24H in Time and Date setting ... while keeping my International region to Canada ... and iCAl still seems to be working well! Great!
Again thank you very much! I have recently transitioned from WIN to MAC and this was making me crazy!

  • Is there a way to get event times to show up in monthly view on iCal 7?  There no longer is a box in the preferences to show the times.

Prior to upgrading to Os X Maverick, I could see the times of all scheduled events on the month view (there was a check box in the iCal options to show the event times).  After upgrading, the times no longer show up and I don't see an option to change it.  Was this an oversight?  It certainly is not an upgrade over the previous version.  It was very helpful to be able to glance at the calender to see the scheduled times rather than having to click on each individual event.

Sorry.  Only after posting did I see that this question has been asked already and the answer given.  Please ignore this post.

  • Drop down month calendar for iCal

One thing that annoys me when entering new iCal events is I have to always to type dd/mm/yyyy and can't use a dropdown calendar in Outlook?
Ofcourse moving the events by just dragging and dropping is cool, but still there are at times I feel a drop down is faster.
Is there a plugin or something to get a calendar popup?

    Ferd,
Yes this is fine. What I am looking for is, say I clicked for an appointment for this Wednesday (normally my cal will be in week setting) and when I enter the information, I decide I want to move this event to next Wednesday.
So I have a drop down calendar, I don't have to calculate what the day is for next wednesday or have to switch my week view momentarily to month view to drag it.
    Just to enhance user experience!!

  • Can i cut and paste a month from my iCal into an email, including all the graphics?

i'd like to send someone my calendar from iCal one month at a time with events for specific responsibilities via email. is this possible? thanks so much!

You can of course email them a screenshot of your calendar in month view, but if what you want is for them to have your events in their calendar, you would need to export your calendar, email them the ics file and they can then import it. However, this process does not allow for selection by date, so you would be sending them all events, past, present and future. You could of course edit the ics file before sending, to eliminate all events outside the time window.
You could take advantage of the fact that iCal will maintain multiple calendars for you. Make one called December, one January etc and put events for a month in the appropriately-named calendar, which you can then select for export and email. If you set the month calendars to auto-delete past events, then when you come to reuse a month it will only have one month's events in it.

  • For a few months now my ical keeps jumping back and forth.  It's very hard to use my calendar as it doesn't open on today, it may stay a few seconds and then it goes backwards to random dates and forwards.  It doesn't sit still so I can see what I have on

My iCal is driving me nuts.
It won't sit still when I am looking at my calender.  I try holding it still with one finger, two fingers and it just moves.  It jumps to random dates and I have no confidence in it any longer.   I use my calendar all the time and this just isn't good enough.
I have gone into the apple store and they said they hadn't seen that before.  It did it while I was there.  They restored the phone and it didn't make any difference.
I have turned the calendar off in settings - mail - icloud - deleted and then turned back on again.  It didn't help.
I put the Google Calendar app on in the hopes I would have a calendar that wouldn't frustrate me and it is so slow in responding, I have deleted it.
I see online that many others are having the same problem with their iCal.
It would be great to know the solution.
    Please help

    Hey everyone in Apple world!
I figured out how to fix the flashing yellow screen problem that I've been having on my MBP!  Yessssss!!!
I found this super handy website with the golden answer: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I followed the instructions on this page and here's what I did:
    Resetting NVRAM / PRAM
    Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
I went through the 6 steps above twice, just to make sure I got rid of whatever stuff was holding up my bootup process.  Since I did that, my MBP boots up just like normal.  No flashing yellow screen anymore!!
(Note that I arrived at this solution when I first saw this page: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2570?viewlocale=en_US)
Let me know if this works for you!

  • Can the day/week/month lines in iCal be made darker?

Is there a way to customize iCal so that a person with Macular degeneration can more easily see it?
It would be great if there was a way to make the lines in the calendar darker thus more visible and also to make the font size larger.
Can this be done... and if so HOW?

    hassiman,
The only workaround that I am aware of is to use the Zoom feature of the Universal Access preference.
Since you have that affliction, perhaps you are already aware of it. If not, go to System Preferences...>Universal Access>Seeing>Zoom:> (On). You can then use the keyboard shortcuts to "Zoom in/out. That pane also has an Options... button, which you can click. That will reveal another panel which allows you to choose "Use scroll wheel with modifier keys to zoom. I chose the Control key:
Then you will be able to depress the Control key and use the mouse scroll button to Zoom in, or out of any screen.

    ;~)
