Month view scrolling?

It would be great if I could scroll within the month view, rather than jumping from month to month. Is there a way to do this? At least half of the month I am at least as concerned about the upcoming weeks in the following month and would love to be able to view half of 2 sequential months.
If there isn't a way to do this, what is the best way to pass this on to someone at Apple so that they might see about adding it to an updated version of iCal?
Thanks

I agree wholeheartedly. Being able to see the next 4 weeks regardless of where you are in the month is critical to planning for the work and deadlines ahead. This would be a significant improvement to iCal where this has been standard with Outlook Calendar for a long time. Please, nice Apple folks, upgrade iCal to do this. Many thanks.

  • Calendar Month View, Scrolling

In Mavericks, calendar month view, trackpad scrolling works but mousewheel doesn't.  Any solution?

I had a similar problem.  I have a 27" iMac (Late 2012) and after installing Mavericks, I wasn't able to scroll using my Magic Mouse in Calendar, or any broswers--Safari, Chrome, and Firefox--even after setting my scrollbars to appear "always."  I also wasn't able to access Dashboard with a 2 finger swipe or Mission Control with a double tap.
I called Apple Care and told the advisor about the threads that suggested resetting the PRAM or SMC.  But he suggested that before we try that, I should restart my computer while keeping the "Reopen windows when logging back in" box unchecked.  It solved my problem instantly, and I haven't had trouble scrolling anywhere since!!

  • Is there a continuous scrolling month view for ical, like outlook?

is there a continuous scrolling month view for ical, like outlook?

Not as far as I know - but maybe things are different in iOS (I'm on OS X)

  • Scroll is broken on month view in Calendar

i can no longer scroll to next or previous month with trackpad in Calendar's month view. when i swipe two fingers up or down (or left/right) just nothing happens. is it intentional stupidity to force me to click left/right arrow buttons on top-right?

    Hello there, konkere.
The following Knowledge Base article offers some great recommendations for issues with erratic behavior with the Trackpad on our MacBook Pro:
Trackpad or Magic Trackpad is jumpy or erratic
Follow these steps and recommendations to resolve the issue.
Be sure only one part of your finger is touching the trackpad and that you are not resting your wrist on or very close to the pad. The trackpad may interpret this as your finger touching it and make the cursor move in that direction.
If you're using the Magic Trackpad, be sure the batteries are fully charged.
Moisture collecting on the trackpad can also cause this issue. Wiping off the trackpad with a cloth or tissue usually fixes this. If the issue goes away when a piece of paper is put between the finger and trackpad you may want to consider purchasing a Teflon applique to fit over the pad to prevent the moisture from having direct contact with the trackpad. Before installing the Teflon applique, confirm the trackpad is clean and dry. You can use a mild glass cleaner sprayed onto the cloth (not onto the trackpad itself)  to clean the trackpad. Note that oil or lotion can also cause the same issue.
Jewelry may also cause interference. Try removing rings or bracelets and see whether the jumpy or erratic behavior disappears.
Apple has had some reports of this behavior on Mac notebooks being used with power supplies made by a third-party company. If you are using one of these power adapters, unplug it and try running from the Apple battery to see how the trackpad behaves correctly. Also, try using the Apple AC adapter instead of the third-party AC adapter. If the trackpad behaves normally while running from the battery, there is most likely an issue with your adapter or outlet.
If none of the above resolve the issue, try to rule-out software not created by Apple as a cause. To do so, start in Safe Mode.
Magic Trackpad can act erratically when there is interference. See Wi-Fi and Bluetooth: Potential sources of wireless interference for more information.

  • ICal scroll month view

iCal doesn't seem to offer the ability to scroll while in Month view, similar to Outlook. This is a nice feature since you can just use the scroll wheel and roll into the next month. Does anyone know of a setting or plugin to do this?

Thanks - that's a good shortcut, but I was hoping for more of a vertical scroll. In Outlook you can scroll down into the next month by week, instead of just jumping entirely into the next month. Sort of helps visualize how far out things are.

  • Continuous scrolling not working in Calendar month view

Scrolling does not work in Calendar month view. I have toggled System Preferences >General > Show scroll bars to "Always on." Still nothing in Calendar month view.
BUT, wait! Now every other app (except Calendar month view) now has the scroll bar "Always on" even though I toggled back to "Automatically based on...", then restarted my computer. I don't want to see the scroll bars all the time but now I can't hide them anywhere. It seems "Always on" amd "Automatically based on..." now do the same thing. Serious bug.
    Any hints? Thanks

This is odd,  but the calendar scrolling in Month view is working on my machine.   It's been through various reboots - and I checked the disc (SSD) and permissions.
Seems to me that the calendar application is sensitive to the scrolling.
Also,  I've been suffering from Firefox vertical scrolling stopping.  The "fix" is to quit & restart Firefox.  However... this scroll-crashing behaviour goes away for a few days then comes back with a vengence.  Again,  I've a feeling that a full reboot seems to help things.
Yet another mouse-related problem I've been having is with VMWare.  These frequently interpret a single-click as a double-cliick or even triple-click.  Some chatter in the VMWare forums about this too.
All of this behaviour *never* ocurred prior to the Mavericks upgrade.

  • Calendar month view; cant scroll with scrollwheel

    Hello,
I have a problem in the Calendar app in Yosemite (iMac 27" i7). My third party (razer) mouse is brand new. The software is installed (synapse) and working fine. The scroll wheel is working where it should, except in the Month view in the calendar app!
Its working everywhere else, even in the day view. Any ideas?

    Hello!
I am afraid I don't quite understand what you mean. You see, no matter how large or small the month view window, it just adjusts itself in size without scrollbars.

  • Calendar Month View won't scroll up and down

This is a very minor, but strange issue with Calendar.
I can scroll up and down in Calendar month view on my MacBook Air, but on my Mac Pro, I can only switch months by clicking the" >" button or "Command+Left Arrow".
    Anyone know why?
    Thanks.

    I'm using Yosemite on both.
I did a little research and saw some comments that mentioned that vertical scrolling works with the trackpad, but not with mouse scroll wheels... so there's that. Doesn't make sense, but it's possible.

  • How to scroll within a day in month view?

Busycal can scroll within a day in month view (eg. too  many events in a day that requires you to open the day view to see all the events). Can this be done in iCal?

I found some javascript code that solves this problem. Credit
for the code has to go to the person who wrote the excellent
    article at the following link:
    http://www.switchonthecode.com/tutorials/javascript-tutorial-the-scroll-wheel
If you read this article the code below should make sense.
From this article i used the hookEvent and cancelEvent
functions. In my particular case I embed the SWF object inside a
JSP page using some javascript code. After the SWF is loaded i
added the following line of code:
    hookEvent('my_swf_id', 'mousewheel', handleMouseWheel);
where handleMouseWheel is defined as follows:
    function handleMouseWheel(e)
    if (document.getElementById("my_swf_id"))
    document.getElementById("my_swf_id").focus();
return cancelEvent(e); // This is the key to the solution...
When the mouse is over the datagrid in the SWF i can use the
mouse wheel to scroll its contents without the main browser window
    scrolling at the same time.
Thanks to all who took time to post their ideas, it was
    appreciated.

  • Scroll by week in month view

I am an Outlook '03 convert, and I would like to scroll from week to week in the month view. So say its Oct 15, I want to see the current week and the next few weeks. I don't need to see what i did on oct 5.

Welcome to the discussions, Adam. I don't think it can be done, unless it is one of the unpubllished key combinations like alt-command n (where n is 1-7) to select the number of days to view in week view. But it seems a reasonable feature to have - post the suggestion in the iCal feedback section (at the top of the discussions)

  • Wish iCal scrolls instead of jumping (in month view)

I think Apple cares for Real life issues.
Being able to scroll from month to month gives a wider look on Real life.
Jumping is like living a month then forgetting about it.
    Tony

No hidden preference that know of. Maybe if you use week view rather than month view? I think, even with a large window, you won't get more that two all-days in month view.
I don't know if it will influence them, but you should use OS X Feedback to tell Apple of the problem.

  • Sometimes I can't get out of Day view in iCal.  There is no where on the screen to select month view, even when I close it out and go back into iCal.

Sometimes I am locked in "day" view in iCal.  There is no where on the screen to choose "month" view, even when I close it out and open again.  Tapping anywhere on the screen or scrolling doesn't help.

    Give this a try:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete the contents the following folder: User/Library/Containers/com.apple.iPhoto
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try full screen again.
NOTE: For Mavericks and Yosemite,  go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:
where you can check the Show Library Folder checkbox.

  • Why is the wrong date displayed in the month view?

    Hi there,
I just noticed something in the calandar for iOS7. If you are in the month view, the highlited date is the the priviuse day (fx will highlight the 18 Sep when we have the 19 Sep). but if you go in to the week view, the correct date is highlighted. Any idea's???

I had the same problem...in Calendar/Month view, the calendar heading (top left) did not match what was shown. For example, I would be seeing January 1 to 31 and the heading would be December.  As I scrolled down the months, the heading would lag one month behind. With guidance from Apple, I did a iCloud backup, then did a factory reset.  With the "new iPad" everything worked well.  I then downloaded my backup (all my data and apps) and the problem came back.  Tried a couple of things and what eventually solved the problem was removing the gTask app (which I had tried but was not using), then did a "Reset All Settings...no data erased) and now everything is working as it should.  Seems to me that there is a conflict with the Apple apps and gTask.

  • View Outlook Calendar on iPhone In Day, Week, Or Month Views--NOT As A List

I apologize in advance if this has been asked already but couldn't find the answer after an extensive search.
My question is, after syncing my Outlook calendar to the iPhone, how can I view my appointments other than as a list in the iPhone? I would like to view my appointments in either day, week, or month views as opposed to only knowing what my next two or three appointments are. To me it just seems like a simple setting I'm overlooking somewhere. I appreciate any help you can afford
    Thanks in advance,
    -V5

*iPhone calendar views are a joke!*
My 90's Palm Vx had far more usable views via Pimlico Software. The gray scale display with poor resolution was able to show one or even two weeks with appointment texts.
What does iPhone have? List view is the best there is. One sees all appointments with only just scrolling. Day view is terrible. The whole day should be visible without scrolling for it to be at least somewhat efficient. Now one has to first select a day with arrows and after that scroll thru the day and after that select another day and scroll again. No way. Month view is very poorly designed! The grid takes way too much space and who decided to put the appointment list in the bottom of the screen when one's index finger blocks it if sliding thru days in the grid!!! Oh man!!! Unlock the landscape view and please make the grid a little bit smaller and please place the appointment list on the left or at least on the right side. And make its font way smaller! No point in seeing two appoinments without scrolling.
iPhone's wonderful screen would be able to show one or two weeks with written appointments in a list like manner especially landscape. I mean seven columns titled Mo-Su and all appointments listed in that day's column.
Hopefully SDK will let someone else do it if Apple won't.
And we have to get to copy appointments and paste them to other days also. I am spending 30 min writing the same info one at a time to our monthly plan. Everyone else is already having a cup of coffee.

  • Calendar month view dots on every day...

I seem to have a dot in every day of every month in month view. I have seen pics of other folks who only have dots in the days where there is an event. So I am thinking there is something wrong with my sync.
I downloaded 7.3.1 iTunes, resynced, and even restored. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

VOILA! Solved it. I was right, it was related to recurring appointments.
I kept going back on my calendar until I found a day that had no dot in it. Then I figured the first empty day that still showed a dot and worked backwards. I found a recurring appointment was causing the problem.
When I opened it up, I noticed that the appointment was from Mon, Feb 5 to Sun, Feb 4. It went BACK in time. It still showed as only one day, and the All Day button was ON. I changed the TO date to Feb 5 (so both FROM and TO matched), saved the appointment, and VOILA! Fixed. However, as I scrolled forward, I noticed dots started showing up in every day in the months from that point forward, and it was still fixed from that point on backwards. It turns out EVERY BIRTHDAY (every yearly recurring appointment) had this glitch. When I fixed a birthday, it fixed all the days between it and the next birthday. When I fixed them all, my Monthly view for ALL months now shows dots on days with events, and no dots on days with no event.
    Sweet!
