Monthly lot size problem

hi guys,
i am using monthly lot size"MB" for all my raw/packaging materials.
PROBLEM :
material "M1" has leadtime as 30 days(25 days + 5 days QC)
This material is part of Bill of matwrial of Finished good "FG1"
Now suppose if i put requirement of FG1 for 15th jan 2008 and run MRP today 8th dec 2008.
I should get a purchase requisition with delivery date as 8th jan2008.
but this dosent happen, instead i get PR with delivery date as 2 feb 2008.

Hi,
Think you might have to change the scheduling indicator for your lot sizing procedure in tcode-OMI4.
This indicator defines the time in the period the system is to create the availability date or the start date for the lot for period lot-sizing procedures.
Regards,
Deepak.

    Hello ,
It is because of the procurement type "X" in MRP 2 view of material master . IF you change it to "F" , your problem will be solved

  • Schedule with dependent lot size problem

    Hi,
I maintain the setup/process/tear down time(base qty is 10) in Work Schedule view in MM02(dependent with lot size)..But the begin date/end date in these POs are the same when I create Production Orders with different qty.
It seems my setting doesn't take effect..Do you have any suggestion?
PO 1:   100 qty      Start date 11/10  End DAte 11/11
PO 2:    1 Qty      Start date 11/10  End DAte 11/11
PO 3:1000000 Qty Start date 11/10  End DAte 11/11
Why the start/end date doesn't change based on my PO qty?thanks..

In-house production time (lot size dependent or independent) is used for calculating the basic dates of planned orders when MRP is run with basic dates parameter (instead of lead time scheduling). However when production orders are created basic dates are always determined according to the production dates and production dates are determined by lead time scheduling. In other words, the lot size dependent production time data that you have maintained could only determine basic dates of planned orders, only if MRP is run with that parameter. In the case of your production orders, standart values of the operations and formulas of the work centers are used by lead time scheduling. Dates might be equal because scheduling formulas of work centers does not consider order quantities or labour hours, which would be multiplied by order quantities, are not maintained in routings. Investgate the production dates and scheduling of the operations in production orders. Also have MRP create planned orders to see the effects of lot size dependent times in master data. Be sure to emty the lot size independent production time in material master to avoid it overwriting lot size dependent time.

  • Monthly lot size.

    Hi dudes,
i am having one issue regarding scheduling of planned orders. as i posted PIRs monthly basis and in the material master i maintained lot sizing prrocedure as MB
monthly basis and the availabiliy check for lot sizing MB is at period start in the scheduling filed in the customization
    thanks in advance....
    Robert

    Hi Robert,
May be in your case forward scheduling would have happened.
Please check the scheduling type under the "Ded.Scheduling tab" for the planned order has been created.
Please also check the scheduling type in OPU5.

  • New lot size - consolidates the requirements in the past + current month.

    Hi All,
My client has requirment where he needs a monthly lot size "MB" for the Raw materials but that lot size must consolidate the requirements in the past month as well with the requirment of the current month so that we only have one requirement.
In current scenario if we use MB lot size and if we have requirment of 100 pc in month of May and 100 PC in month of June then 2 PR will be created. One for Last month and another for this month. Client wants only one PR for both month and wants Last month requirment sto be clubed with this month requirment it self.

There are more that 1000 Raw materials and most of them have past due requirments. Reason that it has to be done during PR stage it self taht combining different PR to single materials so many materials will be very difficult and time consuming.
Thanks for suggestion though. But client did not accept it.

  • Rounding Value is not considered for MB lot size

    Hi
I have a scenario where MB (Monthly Lot size) lot size is used with rounding value. Example as below:
    Lot size: MB
    Min Lot size: 15000
    Rounding Value: 20000
    DEMAND: 16000
When MRP run, System is creating the 16000 as P Req instead of 20000 which is the rounding value.
Pl let me know, if I need to apply OSS note / any other solution for this.
    Thanks,
    JK

    Dear ,
Are you using any Rouding Profile in MRP1 view ?
What is the Setup in OMI4 for MB-Lot Size .Remove the tick mark in Last Lot Exat if it is marked .By specifing the rounding value, the system will determine during lot size calculation that lot size qty is a multiple of of an order unit(eg : pallet size if mtrl is delivered in entire pallets...).
Please check what is the Lot Size Indicator or Lot size procedure assinged to it ?
2.you can use rounding profiles...its used to define the setting of rounding up or rounding down the order proposal qty into deliverable quantities...rounding profile maintenance the t-code is OWD1. Here for static rounding profile
    Rounding profiles are defined under:
    spro-> purchasing->consumption based planning->planning->lot size calculation ->maintain rounding profiles...
it consist of threshold value and rounding value...
the threshold val is the value from which the system rounds the value of the next deliverable units upto...
the rounding value is from which the systemshd round up to as soon as threshold value is exceeded...
    Otherwise ,  Check FM MD_ROUNDING_VALUE

  • MRP Settings - Minimum Lot size / Saftey stock /Lot Size

    Hi
I am confused about some of the settings , We set M1(Monthly lot size ) and PD MRP type settings, We maintained the Minimum lot size as 2500 lb and the safety stock as 300.
I tested by changing the Parameters , I am confused.
    Please clarify me
Did MRP is going to suggest the PR once if the stock went below 300 ?
Did MRP is going to wait for the PIR to get accumulate the Minimum lot size settings ?
What will happend if the time bound is beyond a month ?
Please help me to understand the concept
    Thanks
    JJ

    Hi,
Use tcode OWD1 to create rounding profile.
Select create icon for creating new rounding profile.
    Input new profile name.
In that Threshold value & Rounding value is available.
    Input your value & save.
In MRP1 view give the input of rounding profile.
Example given below for easy understanding.
    Threshold value  Rounding value
        1- 20 -
    >                20
      60- 100 -
    >              100
      900-1000 -
    >           1000
      8000-10000 -
    >     10000
If your requirement is 7, it will convert to 20.
If your requirement is 23, it will convert to 40.
If your requirement is 76, it will convert to 100.
If your requirement is 435, it will convert to 440.
If your requirement is 844, it will convert to 860.
If your requirement is 910, it will convert to 1000.
If your requirement is 8045, it will convert to 10000.
    Hope it will helps you.

  • Planning time fence and Lot size

    Hi,
MRP type=P3, Planning time fence=28 days, lot sizs=EX and all 28 days are working days.
so today =05/112009 and i check the MD04 End of planning time fence is 03/12/2009
But when i change the lot size to =ZC(3 Months lot size) keeping the rest all same as above.
and when i check MD04 The planning time fence moved to 01/01/2010
What should be done to keep the planning time fence as 03/12/2009 and i don not want to change either MRP Type or lot size

    Praveen,
I think your Lotsize Indicator is based on Planning Calendar. Please check the period definations of the planning calendar assigned to the material in the MRP2 view.

  • Periodic lot size PR not covering the requirement for the periods

    Dear Experts,
I am using customized monthly lot size size key with Periodic lot size procedure and number of periods 3 months.
The MRP is creating one purchase requisitions for all the requirements for the first month only. The second and third month requirements are not included for the purchase requisition quantity. The second and third month requirements are kept opened without any PR.
The planning harizon is 100 days which is more than 3 months. There is no maximum lot size restrictions. But still why the purchase requisition quantity is not included the second and third month requirements.
    Please give your valuable suggestions.
    thanks and regards

  • Lot Size OMI4

    Hi Team,
Can anyone guide me to understand the importance of the below highlighted fields in OMI4 with some exmaple? I am reading the F4 help but i can not understand it.
    Thanks

    Hi Sugan,
If the help is not enough, I recommend to make an individual test in your sandbox to understand what is the meaning of each parameter.
For example, you ask about the meaning of Last lot exact. This is what the help says:
Controls whether the last lot is planned exactly in the whole plannning
horizon, and not according to the settings for the lot-sizing procedure or for
    the rounding value/rounding profile.
When you select this field, the quantity available is zero at the end of the
net requirements segment and the gross requirements planning segment in the MRP
    list and the stock/requirements list.
This means that you only procure what is needed. This avoids remaining stocks
and, when applicable, high scrapping costs, but the remaining requirements are
covered by the last lot. This is useful for discontinued materials.
So this what you can do if you want to understand the help. Imagine that you have a code with minimum lot size and rounding equal to 500 CS.
This is the MRP result using lot size MB:
As you can see at the end of the product life (once there is no more demand, you will see that you have a remaining quantity.. cause because you had monthly lot size and rounding qty = 500 CS.
Imagine that you copy lot size MB in a new lot size Z2, but you flag the parameter: "Last lot exact". So the only difference between MB and Z2 will be the Last lot exact flag. You run the MRP and this is the result using Z2:
Note that there is no remaining qty. So as is mentioned in the help, this helps to avoid remaining quantities at the end of the product life.
You can follow the same approach to understand each of the other fields if the help is not enough.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Mariano

  • Monthly Lot Sizing Procedure

    Dear friends,
I Used Monthly Lot size ( MB) For my finish Material. Material has safty Stock. If I put Next Month plan in MD61 and run MRP in current month, system creates seperate planned ordrs for  safty stock requirement and next month requirement. But I want that both requirements should be generated with combined quantity.
    How can i do this?
    Please help me.
    Thanks!

    Kiran,
Since your material is defined with Safety stock and there is no stock currently, system would be creating the procurement proposal for safety stock with current month requirment date and for the next month requirement it would create one more planned order with requirment date of next month. This is a standard behaviour.
I dont understand why you want to have the MRP combine the Safety stock requirement + next month requirement when there is a shortage for safety stock in the current month. Please clarify, your requirement looks incorrect.

  • Lot Sizes

Hi all, can someone explain to me the difference between "Monthly lot size" and "Monthly lot size, without period factor"
    appreciate your response

    Hi,
Period Factor is used by the system to calculate the availability date/time of a receipt element within a time period.
For example:- the system calculates the availability date/time from the period duration, to the exact second. If, for example, you specify 0.75 for the period factor, for a period duration of one day, the availability time is 18:00.
    Hope this link helps you
Example of Monthly Lot Size with Availability Date at the Beginn

  • Planning time fence with Lot size MB

    Hi Friends,
I am facing one issue as below,
I am using MRP type P3 , Planning time fence is 20 days , Lot size is MB (Monthly).  I am not using MRP group.
Planning time fence should be calculated as Todays date+Planning time fence on MRP1 but if the calculated date with this formula is going in next month system takes first date of next following month as Planning time fence (effect of lot size MB).
WIth lot size EX , it works fine.
Can we avoid shifting of Planning time fence to first date of following month with lot size MB?
    Thanks.
    Sandeep

I got  a workaround  , I have used 2 lot sizing procedure in  a sigle lot size. Daily lot size (for Short term) and Monthly lot size for Long term. For short term requirements are grouped for 28 days. Closing the thread. Thanks.

  • Selecting the correct lot size...

    Hi,
I have some problem in selecting the correct lot size, please help me solve it.
The requirement of raw materials per month is 100nos. But the vendor cannot supply them in qty required by us but supply can happen in 1000nos. I cannot purchase all the quantities as materials cannot be kept in store for long period.
Which type of lot size is suitable for this type of scenario. Is there any SAP standards available or configuration is required?
    Regards,
    Pavan

    Hi Pavan,
This is not a lot size issue  , but a process issue.  You cannot choose a lot size unless you are clear what is the qty for which you expect  PR in this case?
Once that is clear,  you  will get lot size as needed
    cheers
