Monthly payment plans for macbook pro

I am planning to purchase a 15" Macbook Pro, but I really would prefer if I could pay off the bill monthly. I know that you can do the Barcalaycard, but is there any way to pay it off monthly without having to get a credit card? if I did get the credit card, would I have to use it for anything else or could it just be solely used to pay off the laptop? Can someone just tell me more about the card and if it's really worth it?

Seriously, this isn't a question for this forum, which deals with MacBook Pro hardware.  Check this out and read the FAQ.  You may want to call the Apple specialist.

  • Do apple protection plan for macbook pro cover retina or is it just macbook pro

does apple care for macbook pro 15"/17" also cover til macbook with retina or not??

Covers all Mac models. Just be sure to order the correct AC item for YOUR specific model. Price is contingent on the model covered.
Edit: it appears that the AC 15" MBP package covers the regulars and the Retinas as well for that size. To be on the safe side, pick the Retina option from the list:

  • Apple care protection plan for macbook pro with retina display

hi!!! i recently purchased macbook pro with retina display. Im curious about the apple care protection plan to extend the warranty of my macbook. I would just like to ask if the apple care protection plan includes battery replacement w/in  the next 2 yrs?

it is like car insurance. You purchase it hoping to never need it. But thank your lucky stars for having it after the sheet metal goes CRUNCH!
BTW, AC needs to be activated while the base warranty is in effect. This means you can wait till the last month or so and avoid having to plonk all the cash up front.

  • Protection Plan for MacBook Pro

    Hello
Apologies guys for the simple question.
Is it true that a Protection Plan for a Macbook Pro can only be purchase within the year the computer was bought? Or can it be bought anytime post-three years after purchase, I assume that would be the case though it would make little sense in doing so.
    Cheers,

I would also suggest buying it sooner rather than later. Applecare provides unlimited telephone support for 3 years from the original date of purchase on the computer (not the purchase date of the plan.) So holding off on buying it does not get any additional coverage time.
Instead, buy it early, as you only get 90 days of phone support without the Applecare plan. Also, if you plan to use an airport base station, wireless mighty mouse or apple keyboard, and if those items require troubleshooting, phone support for those items is covered by the Applecare plan on the computer they are being used with.

  • Planning for Macbook (pro?) Questions about recording audio + multitasking

    Hi Everyone
I am seriously contemplating switching to a Mac book (Pro?) in the next few months, and I want to clarify issues about recording audio.
I record music and other stuff at our local church using a mixer and feed stereo straight into a pc which records using the excellent Adobe Audition (... well it works for me  :-)
To start with I expect I'll be using GarageBand and later look at other solutions such as ProTools I used to use on the PC.
    QUESTION
I would welcome experienced users to comment on how well GrageBand or similar can multi task while recording is taking place. In other words what can I do - Not do, while recording.
    Be honest please.
I worry I might get an exagerated reply from an Apple evangelist and I'm not seeking perfection, just knowledge of practical experiences.
I'd like an idea of what limits present users have found running recording apps like Garageband or similar.
As an example :  what experiences running large wordprocessing application or Internet (e.g. FTP or Safari) while recording?
    Replies appreciated
    Pete

If it's an important recording or a once-only opportunity to record something then I would seriously advise against multi-tasking on any computer, PC or Mac, whilst recording.  Dedicate all processing power to capturing the recording, and if you want to browse the web/update your resumé whilst recording then use another computer!

  • Apple Care+ for iPhone 5S & Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook

    Hello,
I have a question regarding the apple care+ for iPhone and the Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook pro.
Since I will soon be in Hong Kong, I intend to buy the iPhone 5S due to great savings compared to my come country.
However, I have a question regarding the warranty which confuses me a bit.
    1) If I buy the iPhone 5S and the Apple care+, does that mean I will be covered world wide?
I am from Denmark, and the applecare is currently not available from the Danish apple store. but does this imply that I will not be covered when I am in Denmark, in case of an incident?
If not, what can one do? Should one ship it to an apple repair somewhere in a European country that is covered by the Applecare protection plan for iPhone?
    2) And the same question goes for the AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook - will a MacBook with the protection plan bought from Hong Kong, and imported to Denmark, be covered world wide, or what limitations does it have?
I was trying to look through the terms and conditions on the Hong Kong website, however, it does seem rather intransparent some times.
    3) Finally, I have a question about purchasing Apple equipment from the physical Apple store in Hong Kong. As I am a student, I would of course like to have the student prices - should there be any problems getting this price from the physical apple store, or can one only get it from online purchases? Is a valid student ID sufficient proof of student status?
    Regards,
    Michael

    Start here:
    Apple - Support - AppleCare+ - iPhone
    Apple - Support - AppleCare
From each of those sites you should be able to discover what if any differences may prevail depending upon the country of purchase.
Apple's warranties may not be honored outside of the country where the equipment was purchased. I have no way of knowing whether hardware purchased in Hong Kong will have a warranty honored in Denmark.
If you have a valid student ID then the academic discount should be honored in the Hong Kong Apple Store.

  • Updating Graphics Card for MacBook Pro

    Hello.
I have the most recent 13 inch: 2.5 GHz MacBook Pro.
The thing is, I absoutley hate the Intel HD 4000 Graphics card that comes with it.
The only game I play on my MacBook Pro is Battlefield 3, but the graphics card has a hard time trying to run the program
Other than the graphics card, all my computer specs meet the requirements to play the game.
    MY QUESTION IS
Is it possible to replace my graphics card with a Nvidia graphics card? Probably by opening up my laptop and putting it in.
I heard that this way was impossible, but I am not 100% sure.
And if that doesn't work, is there any way to get a newer graphics card? Probably externally through the bolt connection thing?
    Thank you

    Jon,
Like yourself I found that a customized PC is the way to go for PC games. For several years Apple sort of kept up with PC graphics ability making the Macbook Pros, Mac Pros, and some iMacs close enough to play recent demanding PC games.
The current trend of thinner and lighter for the Apple laptops has compromised the gaming capabilities to the point that I have switched to a PC Clevo P150HM for new games.  I play Skyrim on ultra settings. The best thing about these PCs is the initial customability and some upgrading ability later.
One big question I have about the trend to Retinal displays is how much more graphics ability is required to just maintain the existing level of performance.

    A) a new iPod Air

    B) a new MacBook Pro with Retina.
After researching this topic, I found the placing an old SIM card in a new iPad would be impossible. There is no way for consumers to remove the back cover... Without dropping it off a building. My best suggestion: Use the current plan up first. Then buy a new plan.

  • Monthly Payment Plan & lack of care!

I am in my mid 70's & I have been with bt for about 50 years for phone only. I have been on a monthly payment paln of varying amounts all under £30 a month. I thought I was on anytime call plan, however it was only weekemd calls. When BT restructured the prices of calling time and evening rates went up considerably, so do my bills. My last quarterly bill was £145 of which £91 was for calls to uk landlines £46 for line rental and £8 for other calls. BT called my and said my monthly payment plan payments were too low and they were putting them up to £79! I discovered when my last quarterly bill arrived that I was only getting weekend calls free. It is disappointing after being a customer for 50 years that when the customer service agent called me regarding my monthly payments that they didn't inform me why my bills were so high and suggest that they put me on anytime calls. However, they didn't and had a pensioner paying £60 a month more than necassary!!

I would agree that you should be on Anytime calls, and you should arrange that straight away if you haven't already done it. That should cost £22.45 a month plus any non-inclusive charges.
As to your monthly payments, it's not possible to say what you should be paying as that depends on how much of the £145 had not been covered by your credits. If you can post a bit more detail there might be some specific advice on that.
In general terms though, my view is that the way adjustments to the monthly DD work can be a bit of a swindle, and I'm currently pursuing this with BT. As well as posting more detail, have a look in MyBT > My bill > Manage your payments > Change regular payment > Change payment details > tick "Change the amount you want to pay". When you click on the current amount what does it say in the pop-up box?
You can click the white star next to this message if you think it was helpful.

  • Operating Temperature Limit for MacBook Pro

The specifications, for MacBook Pro, mention that the operating temperature is 10 to 35 Deg C. Does it mean that MacBook Pro will not function above 35 Deg C? Is it recommended to operate MacBook Pro always in an air-conditioned environment? As I plan to buy for the 1st time, I seek an answer.

You will find that if you use applications that are CPU intensive the internal temperature can go over 100 C.  This actually is within the safe operating parameters of the MBP.  Should the temperatures become excessive, there are heat sensors that will activate a shutdown so that no damage will occur.
You might download from the Internet a utility called iStat pro that will show you the internal temperatures of your MBP and the fan speeds.  You can then correlate this information with Activity Monitor data and determine if the temperatures are normal for the given circumstances.
    Ciao.

  • More GB for Macbook Pro

    Hi,
I bought a 15" Macbook Pro 120GB last month from
Apple.com. I do a lot of video editing and wanted to
upgrade my memory to 200GB. I am under Apple's
Warranty, however I am afraid of buying more GB and
installing it on my Macbook Pro myself. Is there a
way I can have Apple mail me a shipper box and send it
back to Apple to upgrade the GB? I am willing to pay
extra for the sake of having a certified Apple
employee do the install. Has anyone had this
experience or could offer me any advice on this topic?
    Thanks!!

I just had my MacBook Pro Hard-drive upgraded. As best as I could find out, for MacBook Pro's, you need to have an Authorized Apple Service Center perform the upgrade. According to them, the rest of the MBP is sill covered by AppleCare, but the new drive is not.
If you do the upgrade yourself, you WILL break your entire warranty.
I paid $130 for the labor, and my local Mac Repair Site did it the same day. I bought a Hitachi Travelstar 250GByte drive from ZipZoomFly.com then:
    - put it in a USB2.0 SATA case,
    - used Carbon Copy Cloner to back up my entire drive to the new one,
    - booted from the new drive externally and tested applicaitons for an hour,
    - then took it to my Mac shop to swap drives.
This minimzed the effort of the installer and maximized my confidence that everything would go smoothly.

  • Trying to set up payment plan for final bill. Want...

Treid to set up a payment plan for my final bill thats just come through, nearly 2 months after the line was switched off.
Was told via phone to the indian call center that it was not possible to do this as the account was already closed. And that if i didn't pay the full amount by end of november that i would be taken to court.
Now i am confused, i have made a reasonable offer to pay off the final bill and they are saying no and want to take me to court cos i cannot afford to pay the bill in one lump!!!
    Please help.

Was still in contract when my parent decided that they wanted to sell the house and wanted me out. was left with no choice but to leave.
Wasn't told that it was possible to set up a plan even when querying it before having to cancel.
Unfortunately this is the type of tactics I have come to expect from this company.
My gas and electric company were happy to set up a payment plan to pay the final bill, as was the water company.
The only company that i have had any problems with trying to do this is unfortunately BT.
Well I suppose I could wait until the account went to a collections agency to set up a payment plan with them. Just dont understand why BT themselves cannot do this.
