Mophie juice pack stopped charging after iOS 7.1 update

iPhone 5 + Mophie juice box air
Mophie worked just fine for almost 9 months, then after upgrading the iPhone to iOS 7.1, the mophie will no longer charge nor charge the phone! How do I get this working again?

wow just had a post removed because it wasnt technical and constructive. So I'll stick to the facts.
ios7 introduced software that now requires charge cables to handshake with the device. This handshake comes in the form of an encrypted key stored in the cable/charge/accessory.
If the handshake fails then the accessory is rejected and all features/charging are disabled.
There are seveal ways to fix this.
1 - buy certified apple products
2 - turn off the device and while the logo is spinning plug it in to charge, this prevents auto power on from turning on the device and again blocking the usb cable from charging the phone
3 - use a device that does not require hardware/software blocked charge devices and accessories.
If you send any official certified products back they will be replaced.
Personally I have bought a samsung s5 and my company has removed over 600 apple devices because of this issue effecting remote emergency response workers.
I hope this reply has been technical enough and is constructive in its response on how to avoid problems with using accessories that no longer work due to softwear errors/glitches on handsets and in particular the Apple iPhone with ligntning connectors
From a technical standpoint, I was surprised to learn when taking in 30-40 accessories and cables that the genius bar informed me I must purchase certified accessories for the 600 phones which I had no idea how to tell which were certified and which wernt. This came to the sum of 2 cables for 600 phones, or $30,000 AUD. It was cheaper for us to simply remove the faulty devices from our support line given this may happen in the future and the issue has still not been resolved after months of complaints by people on these forums.

iPad 2 switched off and not charging after iOS 7.1 update. Pls help me. I have tested my charger. Its working in another device. But my iPad 2 is not charging with other adapters too. What to do??

    Hello, 92.romil.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I would make sure you are using an Apple branded cable with your iPad.  If you are, the troubleshooting steps in the article below may help.  The steps listed below for the iPhone and iPod still apply to your iPad.
    Resolving issues
If your battery doesn't charge, or if your device shows a low-battery image, black screen, or "accessory not supported" alert, follow these steps.
Inspect the connector at the bottom of the phone:
Make sure that there are no bent pins in the connector.
Make sure that the connector is free from debris.
If there are bent pins or debris, please contact Apple Support.
    Otherwise, continue troubleshooting.
Make sure that the outlet you're using works.
Make sure that the Apple USB cable and Apple USB power adapter work.
Plug the device in to power and let it charge for up to 30 minutes. If you don't have an Apple USB power adapter, try connecting to a computer's high-power USB 2.0 port (not a keyboard). The computer must be on.
If the device still exhibits an issue, try turning your device off and then on again while connected to power.
If the issue is persists, please contact Apple Support.

  • IPhone 5S home button stopped working after iOS 8.3 update

My home button stopped working after I updated it to the iOS 8.3. My finger print can still unlock the phone but the home button won't work.

What you are describing sounds more like a hardware issue than a software issue.  Make an appointment at the genius bar of your local apple retail store and have the device evaluated.

  • 2 ipads and neither will charge after ios 8.02 update

We have an iPad 2 and an iPad 3 and updated them both from whatever version of 7 we were running to 8.02 last night. Now neither will charge. I've done hard restarts on both of them. I've tried both Apple chargers and different outlets. I've tried connecting it to the PC. Nothing. The 3 is nearly dead now and the 2 is dwindling rapidly. Both were charging just fine yesterday before we updated them. Any ideas?

  • My iPhone 4 cellular communication stopped working after iOS 6.1 update

My iPhone 4 What's working pretty fine before updating from iOS 6.01 to 6.1.
Now it stays searching endlessly for network without success.
I have tried first to restore iPhone
    Then a restore from backup
Then a new restore from factory settings
The problem to find network remains.
My iPhone 4 was bought originally unlocked from an Apple store so it can work anywhere around the world.
It was working pretty well under iOS 6.01 in Brazil and after update it doesn't work anymore.
Any clue of what is happening?
    Thanks,
    Fernando

It sounds like you're aware of this (regarding error 1604), but just in case:

  • Iphone sound stopped working after ios 6.0 update

My 4s was working fine until I updated to 6.0.  After that, my sound stopped working.  If I plug in headphones it works, but as soon as I unplug it stops.  When I plug into my USB sync cable it works, but when I unplug it stops working. I updated through user settings over wifi and not through itunes sync if that makes any difference.  I know other people are experiencing similar problems.  Any help would be appreciated.

Yes rev, I tried the dock cleaning as well, I didn't help me either. I read and tried everything others did-no luck. I'm guessing these are the facts, either it will quietly get fixed on an update or the % of phones with the problem compared to those that don't doesn't warrant attention and is better addressed through Apple by just replacing it..if it's still under warranty.

  • IPhone won't charge using Mophie Juice Pack after upgrade to 3.1

I have an iPhone 3GS. I have been using a Mophie Juice Pack to charge it with good results. After the upgrade to 3.1, the Juice Pack no longer charges the iPhone. I get the dreaded message, "This accessory is not made to work with the iPhone." Of course it is made to use with the iPhone. Actually that's all it's made for.
    Any thoughts?

Odd 3Gs recharge issues galore. My problem is somewhat similar and I believe it is an iPhone issue and not a juice pack issue. Fully charged iPhone, left on, over night (7 hours) and not used, still has reasonable battery power left in the morning, almost full in fact.
Take the same fully charged iPhone and place it in the iPhone dock connected to the MacPro and the charging sign shows up. Turn the MacPro off overnight and in the morning the iPhone is dead, fully discharged.
Take the same fully charged iPhone and seat in the fully charged JuicePack Air with the Juice Pack switched to charge the iPhone (green button) and 7 hours later both the JuicePack and the iPhone are dead, fully discharged.
Repeat this process with the JuicePack switched RED, not charging and the iPhone will be fully discharged but not the Juice Pack 7 hours later. Yes, the Juice Pack will then start to charge the iPhone when switched to green.
It would appear that when connected to any utility (JuicePack, Dock etc.) the iPhone will start to discharge when that power source dries up. It is as if the dried up power source is draining the power from the iPhone !

  • Mophie juice pack reserve

    Hi there,
Can someone tell me how much percentage of battery does the mophie juice pack reserve charge on iphone?

Most external batteries are meant for mobile phones and don't provide enough power. It may charge, but very slowly.

  • Mophie Juice Pack Charging Questions

I just upgraded to an iPhone 6+ and am putting it in a Mophie Juice Pack.  The Juice Pack has a lightning fitting that goes into the iPhone when inserted, but the Juice Pack itself uses the older micro USB.  The Pack comes with a micro USB to USB cable for charging both the phone and Juice Pack from your computer.
    Questions:
    1.  Does this mean any 2.1 amp wall charger (like the one supplied with the phone) will work and not damage anything?
    2.  Will any USB car charger/adapter also work without damaging anything?
I think the answers to both of these questions is yes, but I thought I'd ask.  If I have to be careful, what brands of wall and auto chargers do you recommend?

you are totally safe using the 2.1amp charge with your juice pack and a micro USB cable.
Just do NOT use the cheap $3-5 chargers or the really cheap crazy thin cables as they don't have the over charge protection or shielding that is required for this power draw.
    Enjoy your phone!

  • Mophie Juice pack plus for iPhone 5 compatible with 5S?

Does the mophie Juice pack plus for iPhone 5 have enough space to clear the dual flash to work with the 5s? I know it will fit.  Mophie has not yet said if it will work.  I am asking anyone who currently has a Juice pack for 5, and has received a new 5s and has tested the camera to insure that it works properly without any flash back issues.  Thanks

I'm not sure I understand the previous poster's issue- perhaps a bad Mophie??
My setup is great! I'm using 5S 64GB and iTunes 11.1 (latest release) on MacBookPro Mid-2009 10.8.5 (Mtn Lion). The Mophie is a white Juice Pack Plus for the 5 I just purchased on Amazon. First, the flash has plenty of space (photo below). The Mophie does not synch over their supplied cable- this is by design. tTey recommend over wifi. Note: There was a bug with the pre release of iOS 7 where synching over wifi wasn't working. See http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1595220  This issue (not sure if related to JBM0077's problem?) is independent of the Mophie. I'd try the "reset" a poster @ macrumors outlined.
For me, this worked fine out of the box. First, disconnect Mophie from your phone and plug your phone in to your computer with the supplied Apple Lightning cable. Your phone will now be seen in iTunes. Go into iTunes Summary tab and select the option to "Synch with iTunes Over wifi". After doing that and applying the changes, you can disconnect the iPhone and reconnect Mophie. You can even plug in the Mophie to charge the phone at this point. While it's charging, on the phone tap >Settings, >General, >iTunes Wi-Fi Synch. click the synch and everything should work. It is for me. Good luck!!

  • HT201401 I have a Mophie Juice Pack Plus, is it better to run the phone battery down first or run on the Juice Pack first.

I have a Mophie Juice Pack Plus for my IPhone 4S.  Is is better to run the Mophie down keeping the phone charge up or run the phone charge down first then  recharge with the Mophie.  Does the phone battery get weaker after so many charge cycles like the Mophie and other external chargers and boosters.
I am able to keep a 100% charge on the phone battery at all times, I have 2 Mophie's I swap them out when they run out keeping my Iphone fully charged at all times. Will this hurt the internal phone battery?
    Bob Daig

From a heat perspective... run the phone battery down first.  The phone and Mophie heat up too much when it is charging the phone, leaving the Mophie in charging mode all the time could result in damage or a shortened life for the iPhone.
I generally left my iPhone get to about 30% charge before turning on the Mophie.

  • Does the Mophie juice pack plus work on the white iPhone?

My buddie said he tried to use one and the white iPhone was too thick. He isn't the sharpest tool in the shed so I thought I would see what others had to say.

I don't know if mophie juice pack work on 5c, but I have a RavPower 14000mAh and it works on my 5c. Think it's a smart choice as it can charge 2 of my devices at the same time. I feel that the speed is even faster than I plugged into the wall. You may get it from amazon if you'd like.
