MOPZ selecting technical usages with JAVA pre-requisite

Hello all,
Upgrading from 46C to EHP5. Some of the desired technical usage require both ABAP and JAVA system. For example, HCM_Learning Solution has the following pre-requisites
- SAP Learning Sol-Client (Lern, Auth, CP) - all JAVA
- Learning Solution (ABAP)
- SAP Learning Sol-Frontend ABAP
- Portal Content (Java)
So cannot select it in MOPZ since the 46C is not connected to a JAVA instance.
It means the ABAP side reqires two-step upgrade (1) upgrade to EHP5 without the HCM_Learning Solution, then (2) connect to a JAVA instance, select it it in MOPZ, then another ABAP upgrade with HCM_Learning Solution.
Any suggestion how to do the ABAP side in single step - i.e. include the Learning Solution (ABAP and the SAP Learning Sol-Frontend ABAP, then just create the JAVA instance after the ABAP upgrade? Is this a valid scenario?

Hi,
Workaround of this situation is:
Add As Java usage type as well in system definition in SMSY. As a result you will be able to select these usage type as well in MOPZ. But it will give you Java packages as well. You can ignore those packages. And then you can carry out upgrade in a single step.

Additional technical usages

When installing an ERP 6.0 EHP4 system, you install an EHP4 Ready System and then install EHP4 with SAPehpi. For this you have to choose all the needed business functions and then map them with note 1165438 to the needed technical usages. So far, so good....
My question:
What's happening, if later (after EHP-installation) new business functions/technical usages for example Human Capital Management or HCM Self Services are required ? Is it possible to add additional technical usages to the system (even if the EHP4-level stays the same) and how will this be done ? I have looked into a lot of documentation of service.sap.com/erp-ehp, but this is not clear for me.

After upgrade, if you need to install additional usage type then you can install it with SPAM/SAINT but you need to have stack xml file for this. You can get this information in Technical FAQ guide on http://service.sap.com/erp-ehp.

Selection of EHP4 technical usages are all greyed out

Good day
We are currently on ERP6.o SPS 6 and would like to upgrade to ERP 6.0 EHP4. Our system has been defined in SMSY in Solman as an ERP 6.0 system. In selection of Main Instances, ECC Server has been selected as relevant.
In mopz, we create a new maintenance transaction, choose the product version as ERP 6.0 and select our systems. On the next screen we choose "Enhancement Package Installation" and then "find download files".
In the next screen we select the product version and target stack. However, all technical usages are greyed out. When I scroll over it it states that Required Main Instances are SAP ECC Server. Why is it not recognizing the ECC Server as main instance as per smsy?
Please assist.

Hello,
Make sure that following things are OK :
- Solution Manager should be patched to the latest release
- The ERP 6.0 system must have the product version SAP ERP 6.0. Make sure that it is not accidentally maintained as SAP ECC 6.0.

I am planning to upgrde my system EC2 which is an SAP ERP 6.0 on an Oracle10g database with OS Windows Server 2003.
But I dont know which technical usage to choose.
Using the url http://<hostname>:5<instance number>00/utl/UsageTypesInfo, the following are my system's usage types:

You may check the attachments in note 1165438 for business function -> technical usage equivalence.
as for usage types, you seem to have listed product instances instead. Perhaps you can also have a look at the product instances -> technical usages equivalences in the attachments to note 1165438
Anyway, the technical usagesI can see right away are:
- SAP Learning Sol-Frontend CP
- XSS Self Services
- SAP FSCM - Biller Direct
- Central applications
- SAP XECO
Netweaver 7 app server ABAP, Netweaver PI, and Enterprise Portal product instances don't have any additional technical usages assigned.
I suggest also the service http://service.sap.com/bfp for a free service that will help you to select technical usages in your EHP4 install.

Wrong technical usages in xml file

Solution Manager MOPZ is generating XML files with technical usages different from those I selected.
I am attempting to upgrade to EHP4 for ERP with three Techical Usages.
In my maintenane optimizer transaction I selected financials but in the resulting xml and text files I see Leasing/Contract A/R & A/P.
As a result of this and other unseen problems with the xml file generation my upgrade fails on the execution of PREPARE/INIT/PREPARE_JSPM_QUEUE.
Has anyone else seen similar behavior and if so how did you get around it.

This is might be because of wrong configuration of system in solution manger. Please follow verify system configuration in solution manager with the help of below guide:

EHP4 on ERP 6.0 - Missing technical usages

Hello all,
we have been asked by our functional people to make a copy of our Production HR system and try the EHP4 on this copy from PRD system.
I have made the copy and now I am trying through the maintenance optimizer to select the EHP4.
When I am reaching the option to select the Technical Usages, I cannot see 2 of the 3 required TUs from our functional people.
They would like to have:
Human Capital Management, Travel Management and Cross
ERP SAP
but from these 3 I can find only the Human Capital Management. In particular, under the Human Capital Management tree, there are 2 option "grey" (cannot be selected) HCM-Services & HCM Self Services and one which is "selectable": Human Capital Management.
Could you please give me some info how could I add the missing Technical Usages?

ok this is clear. However there is no HCM-Services in my production instances list in SMSY.
I go then and expand the tree of HCM-Services in MOPZ and I see a small table with the required instances and product versions.
For the HCM-Services I have:
Human Capital Management (the row of the table is white/grey = activated for my system)
SAP XSS (the row is red and no system is assigned)
Portal Content Common (the row is red and no system is assigned)
Portal Content Self Service (the row is red and no system is assigned)
The required Instances are:
SAP ECC Server
SAP XSS (Self Service)
SAP NW - EP Core
SAP NW - EP Core
All of them are selected as relevant in my SMSY but as you can see they are not activated in MOPZ.
It is wise to mention though that we have no Portal system installed in our landscape.So I guess , I am trying to "cheat" the SolMan to allow me to donwload EHP4 for a system which doesn't exist?

Technical Usage Selection

Hello All,
We are upgrading our 4.7 to ECC 6 Ehp4 . Once Upgrade is complete, our next Project is Implementation of ESS, MSS.
So 2 separate landscapes,
1) Portal with EP and EP Core -for ESS, MSS :- Separate Hardware is Procured. Installation will start after Upgrade Project is over.
2) ECC6 EHP4 - AS ABAP
Now my question is,
when I am doing the Upgrade, I created 4.7 System in SMSY, went ahead for creating STACK XML file in MOPZ, I need to select Tech Usage Types.
I have selected all relevant Usage Types including HCM.
Do I need to select HCM Self Services also here? I cannot select it- it is disabled (makes sense) because it needs Portal, and my System is defined as 4.7 System.
Am I fine to go ahead without selecting HCM Self Services in the 4.7 System to be Upgraded to ECC?

SMSY recognizes the 4.7 system as ABAP and hence the Self Services usage is disabled.
You can continue with the upgrade (stack generation) without Self service usage type as it is applicable only to the Portal system.
Later if you need the portal also to be referenced in the Solution Manager - create a system for Portal in SMSY with product version as ERP and then technical usage Self Service should be activated.

Cannot select Technical Usage "Learning Solution - ABAP only" on ECC Server

        My environment are
        a SAP ERP System(ABAP only) in SMSY with
               Product Version = "SAP ERP 6.0"
               Main Instance = "SAP ECC Server" (as Relevant)
                       Note When I select another Relevant for "SAP Learning Sol-Frontend"
                                   Use in logical components; action not possible (see long text)
                                   Message no. SMSY_EDIT_LANDSCAPE413
                                   ... There can only be one relevant ABAP-based main instance. ...
        Select Product Version = "EHP4 FOR SAP ERP 6.0 / NW7.01"
        and Target Stack = "SAP ERP Enhancement Package 4 on NW7.01 - SP Stack 04"
        Existing Technical Usages are
                 - Central Applications
                 - ERecruiting on ECC Server
                 - Financial Supply Chain Mgmt
                 - Human Capital Management
       But I can't add Technical Usage for "Learning Solution - ABAP only" or "HCM - Learning Solution" (The checkbox is in gray color so I can't check it)
       What am I wrong? Please advice.

Try this ,
Go to SMSY transaction then select your system .
In right side you will get the screen where all usage types are defined for your system.
Select learning solution and HCM and save it.
Go back to your solution and see whether you can see Learning solution after that.

I have referred this note 1500688 SAP Best Practices CP/WSD US V1.604 (Consumer Products/Whole Sale Distribution).
There it is mentioned to activate
LOG_PP_LMAN
LOG_PP_MIS
LOG_PP_PRSP
LOG_PP_SRN_CONF
FIN_LOC_CI_1
OPS_ADVRETURNS_1
This business functions comes under the technical usage 'Central Applications'
So does it mean that, selecting only the Central Application as the usage type, enough for BP activation

SAINT or SAPEHPI to add additional technical usages?

I'm not sure whether to use SAINT or EHPI to add additional technical usages. I've seen comments recommending both ways but haven't found anything definitive from SAP. Note 1298878 "Installation of SAP Enhancement Package 5 on SAP ERP 6.0" says in section VII/...SAINT Passwords:
"These passwords are only required, if you install additional technical usages with SAINT. This is only possible for systems, which have the technical usage "Central Applications" already installed."
It then lists some components but it isn't really clear that all components should be installed with SAINT. Is there any definitive documentation I'm missing? Thank you,

On page 30 of the document "How to Install SAP Enhancement Package 5 for SAP ERP 6.0. A Practical Guide" it says
Installation of Additional Technical Usages
ABAP
To install additional technical usages after you have already installed technical usages of enhancement package 5 with SAPehpi, use the following tools:
- If the technical usage Central Applications of enhancement package 5 is already present in your system, use transaction SAINT. Make sure you import the newest SPAM/SAINT update before installing additional technical usages with transaction SAINT. You also have to generate a stack configuration file with the SAP Solution Manager Maintenance Optimizer. If you want to use the parallel import feature of R3trans, follow the instructions of SAP Note 1309506.
- If the technical usage Central Applications is not yet installed in your system, use the SAP Enhancement Package Installer.

Error in PREPARE_JSPM_QUEUE phase

While attempting to install EHP4 for ECC6/EHP1 for Netweaver I am failing during the PREPARE_JSPM_QUEUE phase
I am getting the following error and looking for suggestions.
The parsing of SP stack file e:\download\SMSDXML_CROSSSYS_20090610175030.663.xml resulted with null value.
My log shows the following
Manifest attributes are missing or have badly formatted value:
attribute keylocation is missing
attribute keyname is missing
attribute keyvendor is missing
attribute keycounter is missing
(e:\download\SAPSHRAPP13_5-20001151.SCA)
Stack definition file e:\download\SMSDXML_CROSSSYS_20090610175030.663.xml is rejected. Download a new version on SAP Service Marketplace and try again.
Exception has occurred during the execution of the phase.
The parsing of SP stack file e:\download\SMSDXML_CROSSSYS_20090610175030.663.xml resulted with null value.
Any suggestions would most appreciated.
I could reset and start all over but have no reason to believe the resulting xml file would be any different.

We are attempting to install EHP4 for ERP.
This morning we discovered a new symptom: The xml and txt files generated by MOPZ have different technical usages listed than those selected during our MOPZ transaction.
Although I selected Financials the files generated list "Leasing/Contract A/R & A/P"   We are certain we selected the right technical usages.
I also see no reference to JAVA in the text file but I do see Java files in the form of SCAs in the xml file.

Installation of ECC-DIMP 604 on ERP 6.0 already in EHP4

Hello,
I have a problem regarding the installation of ADD-ON ECC_DIMP 604. My sistem is ALREADY a ECC 6.0 with EHP4 installed. I used the techinical usage FINANCIALS during the queue calculation on SOLMAN.
Now I want to implement this add-on with transaction SAINT . The transactrion asks for an XML file that I'm unable to generate thru SOLMAN MOPZ.
It give me an error like
OCS PACKAGE SAPK-603DHINSAPAPPL DOES NOT MATCH CURRENT SOFTWARE VECTOR
ABAP QUEUE CHECK FAILED
I'm really stuck. Please advise

Hi,
To implement any add-on in EHP4 system, you need stack xml file. As per your logs it looks like that stack xml file is wrong. Please check stack xml file again.
Also, while downloading stack xml file from MOPZ, please select technical usage related to ECC-DIMP only.
