More arrows somewhere?

Hi,
I just upgraded to CS4 and am surprised to see that there aren't more arrow styles in the stroke palette. Does anyone know if there is a plugin or something so that I can get more arrow options?

I agree -- the current arrowheads are a bit too large for my taste, when compared to the line thickness. The 45 angled stroked one, for instance, has much heavier strokes than its line.

There are no more arrows on the tab bar so if you have many tabs open you cannot navigate through them anymore what happened to that?

I always have 30+ tabs open. Used to be there were arrows on either side of the tab bar and you could navigate to the start or the end of your tabs. Now those arrows are missing and if you have a lot of tabs open you cannot navigate, you must close a tab in order to see other ones. Or click that group tab button thing to see which tabs you have open which is stupid. Is just mine faulty? or did this function just go away. Makes no sense to not be able to scroll through and see all the opened tabs.

Drill down arrow

Hello,
I would like to add a drill down arrow somewhere on the service call window (i.e. the UDF panel) that would open a (SC related) invoice number in another field.
Is that possible and how do you do it?
Any other suggestions to that effect are also welcome.

You can use the linked button object to achieve this. You could add it to the main form, along with the edittext that will hold the key (DocEntry) to your invoice.

Arrows on call history

What do the arrows mean when you go to phone and it shows calls that have been made or received?

Blue (swinging down into the contact picture ID) = incoming call you answered
Red (with exclamation point, swinging up into the contact pic ID) = incoming call you missed or ignored
Green (swinging up out of the contact pic ID) = outgoing call (a call you made)
Check the online manual if there were more arrow styles

Print Module - Text from metadata

Is there any way to lay out the text under the image in a more useful way? (Same for text under web gallery images). I can set what text/metadata is displayed, but there seems to be absolutely no control over where that text is shown.
Right now, using the Fine Art Mat as an example, whatever is printed seems to butt right up against the bottom edge of the image, normally one would choose it to be in the middle of the white border. I can see no way to even add line breaks which would be really useful to allow data on different lines.
Of course, as with many LR features, there may well be a little dropdown arrow somewhere than I have missed - I hope so because, as it is, this feature is not much use.

Consider this a feature request then.
The text under the web images is usable, there seems to be a reasonable space between the image and the text.
The text under the print template is not OK, there is no space and the result looks very amateurish to say the least.
Even just line breaks would mostly solve the problem.

I want to delete a pin in Maps

I've created some pins in Maps that I want to remove, but this is no longer possible. I've Googled it several times, but none of the answers apply. I guess this has been changed yet again in iOS8. I'm gathering that Apple doesn't want it's users to just be able to do something basic that should be simple, and maybe even stay the same way over time, but what would be the challenge in that?

Some of both, I think. The ones that are bugging me right now are the ones you see when you do a Search listed as potential places, probably based on a previous search. But I'd like to be able to remove any kind of pin that is no longer useful. I googled and one suggested that I go to a place and click on "Recents", but the only recents I see are the list that automatically appears when I start a search, which are not labeled, just listed. The other method suggested I click on the "blue arrow" somewhere, which I didn't see when I went there. I gather that this procedure has changed many times, probably with every update of Maps, which is making it more difficult than it should be. I'm using 8.02 right now.
If you know of a way to do this, I would be most appreciative.

Windows reboots immediately when I start iTunes

The Problem: When I click on the iTunes icon to start up the software, my computer restarts IMMEDIATELY. There is no error message, the computer does not freeze, and there is no indication that an iTunes window opened at all, even briefly. The screen just goes black and the boot information comes up right away, as if I had pressed the reset button on my case.
My Computer: My computer is a custom built windows XP Pro, SP2, 1G RAM, 2.2 Ghz AMD processor, 3 hard drives -- the bootable drive (C:) is 4G with about 1G of available space and runs at 7200 RPM. The other 2 drives are large (~80G each) and also run at 7200 RPM.
Attempted Solutions, so far: I have spent hours on the phone with Apple support about this already. They walked me though the msconfig process (turning off all other processes and rebooting), I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, Quicktime and Quicktime standalone many, many times. Obviously, nothing has worked, since I'm posting here that I still have a problem.
I have also run regclean, updated the Windows Installer, updated my Virus checker (Avast), and installed and run ewido (no malware detected--I keep a clean computer).
Ideosynchracies and Notables: 2 things are important to note.
1) The very first time this happened, I tried to uninstall iTunes and reinstall. I went into the "Add and Remove Programs..." dialog in the control panel and hit "Remove" for iTunes. Nothing happened. I rebooted and tried again. Still nothing. Only after mucking around for a while and trying to install over top of the existing iTunes, etc. did I finally get it to uninstall. That was iTunes 5, which came on the CD with my iPod nano. Henceforth, I have been working with iTunes 6, downloaded from Apple's website instead.
2) Even before I had a problem, iTunes opened successfully. In fact, I have opened iTunes 3 times successfully. Each time I have been able to open it has been after a clean install of the software. That is, I uninstall the previous copies of both iTunes and Quicktime, reboot, install Quicktime standalone, uninstall that, reboot, reinstall iTunes+Quicktime, reboot, and then open iTunes. It works! (Yay.) But then if I close iTunes and try opening it again, my computer crashes right away (described above). This occurrs whether I reboot between the 1st time and 2nd time or not. If I do not uninstall iTunes completely (and Quicktime), then reinstall them fresh each time, I can't open iTunes. Since this process takes about an hour to accomplish, this is clearly not an acceptable way to use iTunes.
Ultimatum: I will not reinstall windows XP. That is a 40 hour task I am not willing to undertake. In addition to the numerous games I have installed, each of which requires multiple patches to be applied after installing off the CD, I dislike many of the default configurations of Windows and it takes me a while to go though all the settings and change them to my preferences.
Additional notes:
- My OS (Win XP) is an upgrade from Win 98. This should not make a difference, as the upgrade was done over a year ago and I've never had any problem. Nevertheless, the tech support on the phone told me that this was probably the problem and that I needed to contact Microsoft to have them solve my iTunes crashing dilemma. (Yeah, right. I told him there was no way he was pinning the blame on MS for this, since it never happened until I bought an iPod and the crash only occurs when I launch iTunes).
- Before my iPod, I hated Quicktime for the nasty things it did to another computer of mine (basically, when you install it it leaves bits of itself behind that run in the background and report things back to QT. This was years ago and maybe it doesn't anymore, but it left a sour feeling with me, so I avoid QT when I can now--Real, too. Same problem.) So instead of Quicktime, I used to use a program called Quicktime Alternative. It's basically the codecs for QT, but without some of the bloat. I've used QTA for nearly 4 years now, in various versions, and never had a problem with them, but it is conceivable that there could be some bad interaction between the real and alternative versions of QT. However, I removed the QTA from my system, and have installed and uninstalled the real QT many times now, and opening the real QT browser does not cause any problems on my machine.
My thoughts on the matter:
- Since iTunes can start up successfully after a fresh install, but then crashes once I close/reopen it, I'm thinking that there's a setting that it's trying to set after the initial installation. It would probably be related to registration or something like that. I'm not sure what iTunes tries to do after the first use, but the problem could be with that. (On first use each time it asks me some personal information and gives a "Welcome to iTunes..." message. It is likely that after that, it tries to store 1 more setting somewhere and that's what's causing the problem.)
- Since iTunes crashes the whole computer (not just itself), and the crash happens IMMEDIATELY when I click the icon, I'm guessing there could be a conflicting registry that is preventing iTunes from opening, and in fact sending a reboot signal to the OS.
So, any one have similar experiences, proposed solutions or other helpful advice?

I typed WINVER in the RUN option, and it shows Version 6.1 (Build 7600). It does not say Service Pack 1. I check the other computer I share iTunes with and it shows the same version/build.

App-V 5.0 SP1 Client package publishing error 0x4C401C0C-0x80070057

I need some help with some specific error which others also seem to have. But because there are different threads with partial different error codes and scenarios, i decided to create a new thread for my problem with exact environment specifications. So
someone can maybe help me better this way.
I've sequenced 15 packages on App-V 5.0 (SP1) so far and 3 of them have this specific error with code 0x4C401C0C-0x80070057:
Package {package-GUID} version
{version-GUID} failed configuration in folder 'C:\ProgramData\App-V\{package-GUID}\{version-GUID}' with error 0x4C401C0C-0x80070057.
The 3 packages are GIMP, XMind (some Mindmap Software) and Audacity (an audio editing software). But i don't think it's a problem with the software itself...
My environment is:
App-V Streaming Server -> Windows Server 2012 with SQL 2012 Standard (most packages streaming flawless, so i don't think the error is to search in the server)
App-V Sequencers -> Tried to sequence the package (especially XMind was the one i took for further testing) on Windows 7 Enterprise with SP1 (x86) one with all the local packages installed which are on a normal client like (Java, Flashplayer, Office
etc.) and another Win7 Ent SP1 x86 without any additional software installed. Also i set up a fresh Win8 Enterprise x64 and tried to sequence the package there. Of course the Sequencer is also 5.0 SP1!
Sequencing always goes without any errors (only warnings about excluded files or not supported shell extensions, but thats normal i believe... i also removed the unsupported shell extensions from virtual registry, but that didn't help)
Client is (always 5.0 SP1) installed on Win8 Enterprise x64 or Win7 Enterprise x64, error occurs on both OS.
The errors i've got in the event viewer:

Hmm i didn't activated all detailed logs... i did now and try a reboot... but it's really strange because i didn't do something special while sequencing this packages or the one's which are working without any errors... so i also didn't get the wrong parameter
message, i compared the userconfig and the deploymentconfig files with one which didn't produce any errors and can't see any differences which could be a wrong parameter...
Help please... if someone thinks there should be more errors somewhere, let me know... i - as i said - activated now all detailed logs unter Microsoft -> App-V in the event viewer...
i don't get the problem myself, sorry guys... :(

I too am experiencing the same issue.
Rather than starting with the full App-V infrastructure though I simply installed the sequencer (App-V 5.0 SP1) on a clean VM running Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit (including SP1 and fully patched). I then sequenced one of the simplest apps we use (Workrave)
and tried to 'install' it as a stand-alone app onto another clean VM again running Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit (including SP1 and fully patched). I believed that this would be the cleanest solution and would allow me to 'test' the applications before
going to the trouble of configuring the full infrastructure.
Running the .msi file gave me the same error as you: (ref. your post Tuesday, May 07, 2013 10:26 AM).
I got the same error when trying to install via PowerShell:

I have re-built both the sequencer and client VMs from scratch and tried it all again. No luck. I then tried using 64-bit versions of Windows but encountered the same issue.
I too have enabled the Analytic and Debug Logs for AppV in Event Manager and see
some of same error events as you:

\AppV\Client\Streaming-Manager\Debug
I do not however have anything in:
\AppV\Client-RegistryNotification
I suppose it might just be the application I chose to sequence but it is rather putting me off trying anything more complicated...

View Options in iTunes 8

Two customizable view options in iTunes 7 seem to have disappeared from iTunes 8, can anyone help me find them? First of all, those annoying little arrows that take you to the iTunes store. They appear in the list after song title, artist, and album title after whatever song you have selected. There was an option to turn them off in iTunes 7 but I can't find it now. The second one is way more crucial. In the browser up top there are three categories--Genre, Artist, and Album. I don't use Genre at all, and I had it turned off in iTunes 7 so that only Artist and Album appeared, but now I can't figure out how to do that. Is there a way to get rid of the Genre box in the browser too? Thanks for your help.

Heres a easy way to do it on mac computers. Work on mine for iTunes 8. God I hate those arrows
I"n iTunes 7, there was a preference to disable the links to the iTunes Store -- these are the small arrows that appear when you select a song in your library. In iTunes 8, however, that preference is gone. A bit of digging in the iTunes' binary found the solution, thankfully.
If you'd like to disable the iTunes Store link arrows, quit iTunes, open Terminal, and run this command:
defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links -bool FALSE
Relaunch iTunes, and voila, no more arrows! To reverse this behavior, you can repeat the above command (quit iTunes first), but replace FALSE with TRUE. (Or, if you prefer, you can completely delete the added preference with defaults delete com.apple.iTunes show-store-arrow-links).
I'm sure this would have been submitted by someone at some point, but the arrows annoyed me enough to go digging for a solution -- and thanks to Kirk McElhearn for his help in finding and testing the fix!"

Display adapter causing bsod

I am currently trying to fix my bsod issue with my evny dv6 64bit running windows 8 (16gb RAM, intel i7 8 cores), which has been happening since the first month I got it, for many different reasons.
Updating drivers and such has fixed a lot, but then a new error appears. At first I thought it was a RAM issue but that has so far come up clear (ran memtest for 24 hours, 8 passes no errors in fail safe mode, it crashed once when not in fail safe mode but I haven't been able to recreate it). recently I noticed that both intel HD 4000 graphics and NVIDIA are enabled, which it's apparently supposed to do. However, certain applications will run better, and without crashing, if I disable one.
For instance, the sims 3 will crash on the save game loading screen, but if I disable intel graphics, not only does the quality go waaay up, it won't crash on the loading screen. it is laggy, however.
minecraft won't play if only NVIDIA adapter is enabled. the picture won't show and it just won't respond. works if both are enabled. haven't managed to get it to crash if just intel graphics is enabled
Games are the only thing that makes the computer bluescreen. They're the only resource heavy programs I run (sometimes I use photoshop but as far as I can remember that has never resulted in bsod)
to my understanding, it's supposed to use NVIDIA for games and the such, but intel HD for everything else? is there the possibility of some kind of miscommunication going on with these adaptors to cause constant blue screens? or is the error more likely somewhere else?

The volume for "network" cannot be found

Hey guys,
I have a small probelm.
I have a g5 quadcore, with 2 network ports.
On ethernet port 2 i usea connection to a switch for my internet, which i share with others.
On port 1 i just installed a newtork hard drive, to use with time machine when i go to leopard.
Now, when the hd is connected, and i try to browse my network, by going to finder, and then the network icon, i get an error saying "the volume for "network" cannot be found"
Eventhough I have this error, Everything works fine.
So my internet from port 2 works fine, and my maxtor utility for the external network drive can find the hd, indicating that the external hd also works fine, on port 1.
So, my question is, how do i get rid of the error massage, in order to be able to browse my networks again, and also to find me new external hd, using the finder.
I hope someone can help out.

And actually, for some more info, somewhere in the beginning of the threat, you said i should rearrange my network ports, with in my case, connection 2 on top. (since it has the internet)
I tried doing this, but when i do this, connection 1 becomes inactive or something, at least i cannot find my hard disk anymore, which is connected to ethernet port 1.
I guess im thinking that it wont auto mount, because it doesnt run from the same ethernet connector as my internet etc. could that have something to do with it?

CD/DVD drive issues

I was not sure where to post this, but trial and error is suggesting that this is an iTunes (possibly Mountain Lion) issue rather than a fault with my external Super Drive.
I am using the current iMac (the one with no internal Superdrive) and an external Superdrive. All has been fine for 9 months or so but then things went wrong....
Riping CDs at 5x speed and then hanging halfway through, sometimes loading a DVD sometimes refusing to recognise them, resulting in having to Force quit a "not responding" iTunes or more frequently (I admit) pulling the USB out to restart and eject the disc. etc etc.
I figured the Superdive was probably busted (I have a 3 year old, so was not going to blame Apple) I replaced the Super Drive with an HP equivelent (untill the 3 year old grows up a little)... But... exactly the same from the HP drive too !!
Which leads me to believe that the problem is NOT with the Superdrive (appologies to my 3 year old) but more likely somewhere within the iMac itself.
Any suggestions???

PS all softwear is fully upto date.

Have you reset your PRAM? That usually solves issues with peripherals, like keyboards, trackpads and optical drives.
Shut the Mac down completely.
Holding the Cmd+Opt+P+R keys, press the power button.
Listen for the "startup chime" to sound three times and release the keys.
Your mac will finish booting and peripherals should work as exepcted.

Leopard and Adobe Web CS3

Here is my experience with Leopard and Adobe Web CS3.
-Installed Leopard on my intel imac without a hitch
-Installed CS3 without any problems
-Flash CS3 runs great. PS and DW seems to run well too, but havn't got to take PS and DW through all its paces
One Caveat: the pull down menus in CS# that have the "more" arrow, the flyouts don't activate as smoothly as they should, I have to click on the "more" arrow to see the flyouts. At least, that is the way it is in Flash CS3. The flyouts activated on "Mouse Over" previously in Tiger.
I would very much like to see this fixed...Adobe....

Right now Adobe is saying things won't be patched until January. Hang in there! (adobe.com)

Exporting onenote to PDF page settings 2013

I am having the worst time with OneNote 2013: specifically with exporting a printed version of my class notes to PDF.
I am familiar with 'page setup', as well as using a 'custom' size to hopefully fit all my lectures notes in equal page sizes. It just seems like I am missing more settings somewhere embedded into OneNote's page setup settings.
What I ultimately want to do is download the lecture slides, write class notes on them, and export them in a PDF. The only issue the page size for this. the 'custom page size' will allow to fit the width of the page, but never the length of the page.
Each page has to be printed in 2 pages since I cannot find how to set the length of the page to have the lecture slides fit. Simply increasing the 'height' setting during a 'custom' page size never seems to work frustratingly enough.
I have read how to export pdfs on this website yes, but where you find information about exporting page setups I have no idea.
Hope to hear from someone soon!
