More bugs in 2.5 or is it me?

Sorry to bother you again but after haf a day working with version 2.5, here is what I have experienced....
Version 2.0:
After loading a project back some dataviews were just cleared (if eg it contained 3 dataviews with 3 signals, after loading it back in again
all views are gone...)
Version 2.5:
Still the same thing, this bug has not been resolved?
Version 2.0 => 2.5
When I save several signals (to LVM file) in a project saved in 2.0 and I run this same project in 2.5, it just saves the first signal!!!!
This was realy ambarasing because I've measured a few hours before I realized something was wrong...
So, I have to remove all the signals from the SAVE step and re insert them and then somehow it does what it should do...

So, my experience with this new version is rather bad, it even seems to slow down the whole PC,
and all the bugs of the previous version (2.0) are still there??? I believe maybe I should go back to version 2.0...
I can surely say this, it is the last time I install an update from the first day I get it...
O my system is XP with 2Mb ram,
and when I click "about Signal Express" it shows version 2.5 so just in case ....

Yes for the empty dataview problem try this:
Create a project wich measures for example 3 signals, create a dataview with 3 views in, one for each signal,
save the project.
Then open that project again and in my case there is then just one Dataview with no more subviews anymore,
also there is no signal bounded to the view anymore, so in fact I'm left with just an empty Dataview...
I normally measure a number of signals at a time, 8, 12, or so and I define datviews (tabs) with the raw signals, then with the
filtered versions, then with fouriers for example, that is one of the main reasons We buyed SE because it gives us this nice
view on different signal aspects in different tabs, once the project is running no problems (exept for thos damn Y scale labels overwitten
off course) but when I save the project and reopen it again, from the 5 tabs with lets say 3 views each only one remains intact,
the other views seem to have lost their layout or subviews or what you call it....
I can reproduce this error every time I save and re-open a project... but one time if I have 3 tabs with dataviews it clears to views,
the other time it clears one... very strange.
What exactly is saved with each project? I do hope the layouts of the tabbed windows also? It is annoying to redefine the views

TP3 more bugs & problems tha in TP2

Hi everyone!
After some time playing with TP3 I have feeling it is slower and more buggy that TP2. And I noticed that many posts here are related to bugs in TP3 that were not noticed in TP2. Also, TP2 was working fine with JDK 1.6 while TP3 is not working at all. Looks like TP3 is feture extended TP2 but with more bugs and less performant...
My questions are: What is going on? When we can expect TP4 hoing it will be faster and more stable.

I agree for the bugs, tp3 seem plenty of new bugs and new features also ... it is great to have new features.
I disagree for your comment about performance. Performance is better for me, particulary in diagraming and off line database editors.
I didn't see any real improvements or worse performance in adf bc or adf faces editors.
It is a lot of work to be done by Oracle to improve JDev but it seem the final product will be really improved and usable and will offer a great profitable platform for great results.
Thank you Oracle to deliver it ... thank you for the next soon release (without the bugs) ... thank you to continue so hard.

KOrganizer 4.7.0: bugs, bugs and more bugs?

Happy Sunday to everyone! :-)
I'm quite disappointed by all the problems I'm having with KOrganizer (the most recent release, 4.7.0), one of the programs I use more extensively.
There's many things not working so I'd like to share all of this with you, hoping to fix it all or submitting as a bug.
The first thing I've noticed is that it's impossible to keep two calendars synchronized between two different computers: for many years I've used a script which, with a simple rysnc, was able to sync the file "std.ics", containing all the events of a single KDE calendar.
Now, instead, if I try to do this, I see that nothing changes on the destination computer, so I have to remove the calendar manually and import the iCal file.
All of this, though, is not enough, because, every time I import a new calendar into KOrganizer, a kdeinit error occurs, so I have to logout and start a KDE session back again.
Ok, you might say, is that all?
No, because, if I try to list all the events belonging to a specific period, that is all the times I went playing tennis between April 1st and April 30th, I cannot list the events in a chronological order, which makes the output appearing on the screen a little messy.
Can you confirm these problems so that I can submit them as bugs?

E52: MORE BUGS THAN WATERGATE

I have had around 3 hours to try out this phone since taking delivery, and WHAT a disappointment. Bugs found so far include:
Browser: Toolbar does not function; Full screen mode does not hold. Go back a page, load another bookmark, it reverts to normal screen mode.
Text Input: Word auto-completion will not turn off.
Download Files: Downloads keep stopping and I have to reload. Zip files end up somewhere in Quick Office!
OTHER ISSUES
Signal: Holds the signal very poorly. Keeps switching between 3G and GSM. Rarely more than 2-3 bars on signal strength, always at full strength on my E51.
Build Quality: Nothing special. Awful slippery feel to the phone in your hand, and the battery cover has a particularly unpleasant and unnatural feel to it. Nowhere near as solid or robust as my E51.
FP2: My first experience with this, so what's the big deal? First impressions are that it is just too gimmicky, having to go through 4-5 procedures when one sufficed on FP1.
THIS PHONE I DO NOT LIKE! Rant over! lol

E52 is not a phone. This is DISASTER!
And Nokia make nothing about this.

1st one.
How to replicate it.
1. Open a window, eg Safari.
2. Make the window move "outside of the screen" with SHOW DESKTOP
3. Open a file with Quicklook
4. Ask for a full-screen preview.
You can see the dark stripes around the screen edges that appears when you ask for SHOW DESKTOP.

So you are making an observation and didn't want assistance. OK, that part wasn't clear. You'll notice that most of the titles of posts don't actually include a question mark in the title.
The question mark is placed automatically by how you post. It's located just to the left of the title of your post in the list of posts on the forum.
To understand my reply, you would have to understand that when you posted your question, it was a question. From the Help & Terms of Use:
"To post a topic without it being flagged as a question, deselect the "Mark this topic as a question" checkbox under the Subject field in the Post Message screen."
I don't see the same bugs you do in your example, but even if you do see a bug, what do you expect a user to user help forum to do to fix a problem like this? If you had a question about some feature you don't understand, or information about how to interface with networks, programs, or how to run utilities you might have been able to get some assistance.
Since you didn't say you had reported these bugs to Apple, I pointed out the only way they will hear it from you. This is true for bugs, feature requests, observations etc. The more they hear, the better for future improvements.

N97 V2 music player has more bugs than a hundred y...

My problem is back!
This is what I have done in the past hour.
Exported my contacts to vcf onto memory card. Removed the card.

Went through all that... Then remembered I hadn't wiped mass storage.
Wiped mass storage (Which it kept complaining it couldn't do until I removed all the default active apps on the front screen). After removing them it eventually formatted it

Let it get settled...
Connected to USB, did a firmware update check. 2.00.19, no update available. Disconnected USB.
Removed all the front screen **bleep**, added shortcut 2, put my normal shortcuts onto it.
Added my wifi destination
Opened the browser, went to google.co.uk via my wifi, added that as bookmark
Put the memory card back in (there are no apps on it, I never got round to using it for anything).
Imported my contacts back from the memory card.
Went into music player, zero tracks shown. Good.
Connected USB, started Nokia Music PC application (latest version, had checked). Right clicked on one album 13 tracks.
Let it send them over to the N97.
Disconnected phone. Started N97's music player. It says music library corrupt, scanning... Says 13 tracks found.
Artists shows one artist, 13 tracks. Albums shows 1 album. All looks good.
Go into the album, pick on a track, starts playing.
Volume control does nothing. Touch volume control does nothing. Headset remote control, volume, forward and reverse do nothing. Touch screen pause/play forward and reverse do work, but there is no way to control volume.
I've screwed up this music player app before the Nokia system has even got round to sending me the Welcome text message (which I have seen too many times!).
Okay, I'm going to write the next bit line by line as I do it... So bear with me... It's step by step. You never know, it might help anyone that gives a damn (Nokia hopefully), fix it!

Front screen now just shows shortcuts1 and 2, but the shortcuts themselves have switched back to Nokia's defaults.
Music player volume now works!
Connect to USB, send another mp3 album. PC app says (and shows on the %age bar) transferring 5 tracks. Album has 18. Nokia Music system tray icon says complete after 5, but the little arrows shows things are still being transferred. Waited for them to finish. Click the N97 icon and it's showing both albums, with all 18 tracks the second one really does have.
Disconnect USB
Go into Music library on N97, no auto refresh message. Showing only the original album with 13 tracks.
"Options\refresh library" nothing shows as scanning, just appear straight back at the artist,album,playlist option screen. Albums still shows just the first one.
Option\music library details says 13 tracks
Playback and volume still work.
Using the file manager, mass storage, music there's my 2nd artist, the album, and all the mp3 files. I can click them and play them. Volume still works.
Select original (found) album, select delete. Everything shows 0, even though 2nd album is there in the mass memory, file mgr shows it. First artist and albums folders are still there, but empty (Nice house keeping Nokia).
Reconnect USB, Nokia Music just shows the "invisible" 2nd album, and will play it.
Pick a 3rd album of 11 tracks... Send that to N97.. No progress bar or anything shown, just wait for the arrows to stop flashing and then confirm N97 is showing two albums (the invisible on and new one) on the PC app.
Disconnect USB.
Back on the N97... Apps, Music.. Says Music Library 11 songs (that's the 3rd album)... Go into it..
Albums (no songs)
All songs (no songs)
Artists: The artist from 3rd album is shown... 11 songs!
Click it... Shows the album name, 11 songs.
Click the album, and click the first track to play it... Long delay of a few seconds...
Starts playing... Volume not working again!
Try refresh library... again, nothing, no progress bar...
No change, no volume control.
Now here's the really weird bit... If I go and find the mp3 file on the mass storage, and play it from there, volume control works! Come back through the music play app, play the same track, volume won't work.

Exit all the way out and try to go back in...Artists does the "USB connected" error. Albums just dumps me out. Playlists says "File corrupt". All songs say "(no songs)". Podcasts and Genres say "USB connected", composers "General system error" and after that I get a couple of other system errors from other options and then it just dumps me back out.

Create a now folder in music for the artist name (as stored in ID3 tag), create subfolder in that for the Album name (as stored in ID3). Copy mp3 files.
Eject USB device, wait for windows to confirm... It does.
Disconnect USB cable.
App\music\Music Library (29 songs - Thats the two previous albums). Go into it, previous tracks shown, playback/volume okay.
Refresh library works again... Now 3 albums, volume works.
Back to USB (mass storage mode).
This time deliberately doing the storage structure wrong... \music\albumname\mp3s (normally \music\artist\albumname\mp3s).
Music library still showing the 48 tracks from the first 3 albums... Seems to open a bit slower... Still works though.
Refresh library... 13 files added...
4 albums... All working...
Looking with file mgr from badly arranged folder is still as I made it... I guess the Nokia Music PC app creates the tree format, and the N97 doesn't actually need it.
Okay, proof of pudding test...
Connect via USB (mass storage).
Delete the album I created with the mangled folder structure.
Copy 20 folders of mp3 albums across using just windows file manager to the mass storage drive's music folder.
Eject USB storage device from windows....
Oh... Up until now I was almost certain I would be able to use N97 as an MP3 player as long as I avoided the Nokia Music PC app...
Apps\Music\music library shows 61 songs, which is what it had...
Go into it, click albums and I'm getting the USB device connected message. It's not, and the icon isn't even showing on the phone, so I can't go into the player to see if volume works.
Refresh isn't displaying anything, or doing anything I can see. Playlists say the file is corrupt...

Apps\Music\music library (61 songs).. go in, "Repairing corrupted library. Searching for music and podcasts"
After a little while... 2 hundred and something found...

Last night I had a thought...
I wondered if the N97's Music player was getting upset when scanning my music because I had the jpg of the album cover in the folder with it (I tend to do that). As I hadn't bothered reloading any music since my last hard reset I thought I would give it a try.
I removed all non-mp3 files from my music folders.
Connected N97 in PC Suite mode
Started Nokia Music PC app and transferred one album. Let it finish, closed the PC Nokia Music app, gave it a few seconds to settle, disconnected the N97 and had a look.
It appeared in the music player and worked.
Ooooh, right, in for a penny, in for a pound as they say... I connected it back up and sent over another 6 albums. Again closed the Nokia Music app... Waited a few seconds and disconnected the N97.
Went and had a look... "Library corrupt, scanning.... blah blah"... Oh dear, here we go again. But no, a progress bar actually appeared, and after a minute it said "0 file(s) added", but they were all there. All the album art appeared (I'd already embedded that in the mp3 files days ago). All the albums, all the music.
They played, and the volume worked!
Yay! Thinks me... Solved... And goes to bed a happy man.
I set my alarm (on the phone) for the morning and turn the phone off so nobody can phone me before my alarm (which really screws up my sleep!).
This morning the alarm goes off.
I hit stop. It asks if I want to turn the phone on, I say yes.
It asks for my lock code (which I have enabled). I enter it. It says code correct.
Flash of white on the screen... and it asks for my lock code again, which I enter... It says correct again.
This time I get the Nokia tune.
It comes up to the normal front screen, jumps itself onto the application screen, throws up a system error and reboots.
It comes back up (without asking for a pin) and this time settles at the front screen looking for all the world like a working phone... A text message arrives to prove at least that's working.
Hmmm... I wonder about my music...
Well it's all there... But guess what... Volume control doesn't work again!
Oh and clicking "Podcasts", of which I have zero, still produces, and has always produced (even straight after a hard reset), the message "Out of memory, please remove something"... Pressing it again produces "System Error". After that nothing in the Music Library menu works, all produce "System Error". You have to close it and restart to get anything in Music Library to "work".

I keep my C: drive clear of everything. Even my text message storage has been switched to E: (not that I have may since all the hard/soft reboots. Most of them are the "Welcome to nokia" message. Anything that gives me the option to install to another "drive" gets put onto E:
I haven't installed any of the 3 files offered in since the hard reset "SW Update", N-Gage, Nokia Messaging or Ovi Contacts.

Captivate 6 | A dozen or more bugs here or just strange "undocumentated features"

These are issues / bugs or bizarre nehaviours - some of them may be down to newbiew issues, but not many, read on if you dare...
Setup
MacBook Pro 17
Adobe Captivate 6.0.1.240
Firefox 19 (also Safari 6.0.2 and Chrome 24.0.1.1312.57 (but as you will see below there is no way to Tell Captivate these browsers exist and are installed)
Flashplayer 10.0.2.54 - but I have no interest in flash and all the testing has been eithe pure HTML or HTML5
Here we go...
The disabled / crippled close minimise buttons of the MAC OS do not follow the correct convention and therefore confusing unnecessarily to new users. (Conventions are there for a reason)
Inserting fully www3 compliant animated gifs, results in gifs that don't animate] EVEN in browser preview. This is incredibly bad for web based previews.
GIF images scale down very poorly (ending up jagged) - even with modest scale down
The "click Y or click anywhere doesn't work" typing Y does not work (probably because the Get_focus property for the active preview has been lost by the program)
The quiz review button is inconsistent - sometimes it shows the ticks and crosses other times it doesn't
Slide master is confusing, with inserted graphics only appearing on some slides in the "film strip" thus it is simpler to ignore slid masters and add images directly to the individual actual slides
The placing of A), B) C) etc seems to result in them being buried under radio buttons if the project size is at or below about 350px width. Even above this it does not seem possible to either remove them (as they still are placed clumsily) or move them to the correct position (it is almost as if the text settings (properties) of multiple quo ice answer bullet points is not getting applied to the A), B) C) etc labels, just the text
Is the JS created unique to the project ? If so does this mean that in Moodle (for example) the header has to get stuffed with a JS file for every quiz instead of calling a standard library lie jQuery?
The placing of the (quiz review) red cross and the green ticks is all over the place and the sizes are very inconsistent (creating something of a real layout mess) - sometimes the same buttons just don't even show up?
Publshing the project into a neat folder seems to result in dozens of unused images (e.g. arrows and blue circles) being copied into the folder?
The publish tools complains about certain browsers e.g. Firefox latest version but does not state what elements are at fault in the project - leaving you to guess if there really is an incompatible component or whether all of those pre-check tick boxes in the audio, video preferences of Captivate are to blame. There is no indicator of graceful degradation of features
I have been unable to find anywhere the setting that allows me to choose the browser to test this on - since it complains that the latest firefox is no good. Any suggestions? Its not in preferences nor publish - both places where users would have looked.
Has anyone put a Captivate quiz into Moodle and knows where all the hundreds of files and folders from a Captivate project must go?

Mac OS X 10.7.1 brought more bugs

Ever since I updated to 10.7.1, I have gotten almost all the bugs that it "fixed" with Safari. Before it, I had no problems whatsoever. Now, Safari is always freezing up and crashing, and is taking longer to start (about 12 bounces, compared to the 3 bounces it took before), not to mention Google Chrome now takes 59 BOUNCES to start up. Is anyone else expirencing this? It isn't to major as to make me role back, if thats your answer.

Hi... if Safari is crashing post a crash report so we can try and help you.
If Safari has just crashed, press the Report button on the CrashReporter dialog box to view the crash information.
Copy/paste the entire contents of the Crash Reporter window into your reply. If the crash report dialog does not appear or the crash is hard to reproduce, crash logs can be retrieved from the ~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter> folder.
Since Chrome is effected also, how much free space on thes startup disk?
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure you always have a minimum of 15% free disk space.

'View More' bug

If I select 'View More' at the foot of a community page I get another page starting with the next oldest post - as expected.
If I go to a post then hit the (Safari) back button, only the first page shows again. However, when I click again on 'View More' I do not get the next oldest page but an older one.
This makes viewing older posts very cumbersome.

when one clicks Load More, what happens for me is...
the Load More link Jumps down what I'll call a line (like you had the curson on a line of text and pressed the RETURN key)
in its place I get the Spinning Gear telling me something is working
when the working is finished, some number of additional posts appears under the existing list (this behavior seems to the norm in many blogs)
when I scroll down, sure enough, there's the Load More link again
this repeats (I guess) ad infinitum until the last post is reached
Try the link above to see if you see the same results.If you do, come back here and give detailed steps you take to get your issue. Start as far back in the progression of steps as you can.
We then can (maybe) see what you see.

More Bugs!!! Trial Activation.

Can someone please explain to me why, even though I am a paying subscriber I have to get the trial messages?
My account is paid monthly, I am a paying subscriber, I want these apps. NO I am not in trial mode, YES my account and the licensing for all the software has been verified and apporved. Why must I get the "Account not active" or "You're in trial mode" randomly and intermittently when I open any application in the suite? This making me have to always click "verify account" and then sit and watch the spinning icon as it "verifies" that yes I own the software...again...for the 3rd time in a day.
Please fix this.

P.S. Photoshop STILL has the bug where if you're a Windows top Start bar user (and draggin documents makes the windows snap)...well you just can't be a top bar user if you want to use Photoshop. (there have been many other updates, why not this)

After installing this it should prevent the issue with the CS6 products reverting to trial.

Two more bugs for your consideration

DVDSP 4.1.2, OS 10.4.9, 2.66 Mac Pro
bug1 - buttons copied from one menu to another will automatically jump to the menu they were copied form when simulating.
here's the setup:
Disc has 2 tracks with identical video, 1st has AC3 & PCM audio, 2nd has DTS audio.
There are two sets of menus (main, chapters, audio options) that interact with each of the tracks.
I set up the 1st chapter selection menu with the right number of buttons in the right position, and copied and pasted them to the "dts" version of the chapter selection menu.
No buttons are auto-action, and the chapter buttons on each menu go to different tracks.
In simulator, navigation works correctly from the top of the disc when going between the first default set of menus and corresponding track. If I switch my audio selection using my menu, my disc switches over to my dts set of menus and tracks. If I go back to the chapter selection menu via the main menu, I can see in the simulator that I am currently on the "chapters-dts" menu. However, as soon as I use the arrow keys to navigate to a different button, my disc automatically switches to the non-dts version of my chapter menu.
I fixed this by adding one new button to the menu and removing it again. Since I fixed the issue beofre building, I have no idea whether it would have behaved similarly in DVD Player or on set-top. The bug only occurs when using the arrow keys to navigate the buttons.
Here's a snippet of log showing the bug. The uncalled-for jump to the wrong menu is right at the bottom:

Bug 2: using transitions on menus including motion assets with a timeout value of 0 will result in an incorrect starting frame for the beginning of the transition.
Strangely enough, there is a lesson in the current Apple Pro Training series book for DVDSP that has you construct a project in a way that triggers this bug. I have encountered it in practice prior to this as well. Usually, it will use the first frame of the motion asset instead of the last for the beginning of the transition, but I was giving this lesson the other day and noticed it now seems to be behaving differently.
In this case, we were running DVDSP 4.2 (FCS2 version) on Intel iMacs with ATI video cards, QT 7.1.6. This example uses PAL assets, and has you select a portion of an mpeg2 asset as the background for a menu.
Formerly, using a value other than 0 for the timeout would get it to use the end of the selected part of the motion assets as the start of the transition, however, now I am getting completely different results.
In a test here with some NTSC assets, here is what I get:
Menu 1 - using a portion of a 2h17m mpeg for a background - from 20:57:16 to 21:10:01, a duration of 12 seconds. Timeout with transition to menu 2 with still background. The frame that appears as the first frame of my transition actually comes from 42:00:00 - an offset of almost 20 minutes.
This can be overridden by specifying an asset with correct start time as the beginning of the transition, but I find it curious that the default setting would create such a huge offset.
Anyway, I thought that the first bug with the buttons auto-jumping menus might have something to do with whatever has been causing the highlihgts-not-appearing, -backgrounds-not-updating bug that folks have been reporting.

On Step 8 I found multiple product codes for the Conferencing Add-In for Outlook. Here's a list of the ones I found in the machines on my network:
