More burning trouble

Ok, so I redid my project in SD instead of HD but I'm still having trouble burning my DVD project. It says that the Video_TS folder was not included in the final disc. Any ideas? thanks

Alright, I got the DVD lens cleaner and ran it through the process a couple time. Then, for the first time, I was successfuly able to burn two Verbatim DVD+R DLs. However, I got the same old error message while trying to burn the third one. I tried cleaning it again, but no luck. Now what?

  • "This disc does not allow more burns" message - iPhoto bug

    A strange behavior in iPhoto 6 :
Easy to reproduce, it happens all the time (on my machine at least).
    * Select a couple of pictures (+/- 150 MB)
    * Go to Share > Burn
    * Insert a blank CD
    * Burn.
OK, it burns nicely. But ...
    * Eject the CD
    * Put that CD back in the computer to read the pictures.
    * I have the message "This disc does not allow more burns. Insert a Blank CD"
    * Then iPhoto ejects the CD.
    Workaround ?
    * Quit iPhoto
    * Insert the CD again
    * It reads and works OK.
    Anyone the same trouble ?

I just encountered that problem this morning. I quit iPhoto and put the burned disc back in and saw in the finder that the burn worked. I did not try opening iPhoto again.
But ... I did just try to put that disc into another Mac. While the disc loaded in iPhoto, it did not show any thumbnails. I had to manually drag the photo originals from the disc into iPhoto to import them.
Anyone else like to chime in on this?

    Help please...
I meet this really big problem for me.
No more "burning DVD" function in iPhoto 9.5 ?

Someone to confirm the missing "burn" menu ?

  • DVD-R Burning troubles...

Here is a brief list of my problems so far...
Recognized and Read several CD-R's as well as a hand full of DVD's but failed to recognize 2 DVD-ROM's (Movies).

Switched to 1x and received the following message during burn:

Is there any possiblity at all that this is a firmware issue?

    UPDATE April 10, 2006
My laptop has been returned to me complete with a "new" Super Drive. I popped in a new DVD-R and attempted to burn the same files that I mentioned above.
This first attempt met with success at 4x. I'll continue using the drive (I have plenty more to burn) and report back here if there are any problems.
If you're having the same issues that I had then the following information may be helpful. The "new" drive I received is the same model and firmware revision as the one that failed to work. Also, the drive exhibits some new behaviors. When pressing the eject button on the previous drive it would extend the disc out past the center hole. This "new" drive only extends the disc to the top of the center hole. About a cm less. Furthermore when pressing the eject button with no disc inserted my previous drive would make a sound. The "new" drive remains silent but I can feel a bit of vibration.
I sent this laptop in with a full battery and it was returned with half a charge. From Recent Items (Apple Menu) I can see that they ran DVD Player and System Profiler. I'm not sure if they burned a DVD with the "new" drive since Finder usage isn't reported in that menu.
I hope this information is helpful to somebody.
    Good luck

  • DVD burning trouble

Hi, Whenever I try to burn a Data DVD using Itunes, it checks the playlist, and then tells me that the playlist is too large for one Data DVD. Itunes is showing that the playlist is 4.53 GB, and the DVD is good for 4.7 GB. I've tried using a Sony DVD and a Verbatim DVD. I would prefer to avoid burning small amounts on to DVD's when I know what is happening. What am I doing wrong that Itunes is preventing me from burning the songs onto a DVD. The songs are recorded in 128 bite, and are in MP3 format. Thanks fro your help.
P.S. I have a DVD burner built into the Ibook
Oh, and as a side note, if I try to drag more then about 20 songs into a folder on my desktop, Itunes won't let me. This was another way I tried to burn a DVD, but realized it wasn't time smart when messing with around 1200 songs. Once Again, Thanks for the Help

Although your DVD says 4.7 GB, you can't fit more than 4.3 to 4.4 GB of data on it.
There are two reasons for that.
Manufacturers of storage devices advertise with GBs, where they state 1 GB = 1000 MB.
Your computer uses: 1 GB = 1024 MB, which is correct.
So a DVD can hold 4.7/1.024 = 4.59 GB at maximum!
Not only data is stored, but also an index of all the files on that DVD.
That also has to be substracted from the total capacity.
Effectively, you should not try to store more than 4.3 GB on a DVD.
Your second problem could be due to the following:
If a file(name) that you're trying to drag into the desktop folder already exists, iTunes won't let you copy it.
If you try to do that in the Finder, you will get a warning (of course)
iTunes doesn't give a warning, just does nothing.
    Hope this helps.

  • DVD/DC burner trouble!

OK, had my g5 about a year now, works great, no trouble, till today. I burn a CD and, even trying to play it back in the computer [as well as a Sony DVD/SD/SACD player] about 45 minutes into it, I get a "zit--zit--zit--zit--" sound from the speakers about 4 x per second. It's as if I'm getting an incomplete burn. Plays back this way on computer, home player, and Discman. Never a problem till today.
Yes, I rebooted, cleaned all lasers first with cleaning disc, then dismantled all, blew out w compressed air, and cleaned lens directy w Q-tip and lens cleaner. No help.
Should I just buy a new optical drive and pop it in? Anything that burns DVD-DL and is longer lasting than this Sony original drive?

Well, an update which I hope might help others:
It turned out that BOTH my G5 burner [made by SONY] and my stand-alone DVD-SACD player [also by SONY] purchased within a week of each other, were both dying at the same time.
I replaced computer drive with new MCE drive [by Pioneer] and stand-alone with new Denon DVD-1920 and now everything works perfectly. Video & audio are better than ever.
I'll never buy anything by SONY again! This company totally...um...stinks.

  • Superdrive has burning troubles?

I have a dual 2 ghz. Powermac G5 and it has a Sony dvd-Rw Dw-U10A. I'm having a lot of troubles with it not reading Bought dvds, and is worse with blank or burned dvds. I'm not sure if it's the the optical drive that can't read it, or if it's just firmware problem. If anyone knows what to do, or any downloadable software to fix it, That would be a big help. Thanks

Since the problem seems to occur universally, the first thing I'd try is cleaning the drive's laser lens. You can get a DVD cleaning disc at almost any store selling electronics .. including WalMart.

  • New ipod more frustration trouble with downloading itunes setup

I have had this ipod 3 days now and before I pitch it, give it away or post on ebay, I need help. I am getting more and more frustrated.
For some reason I cannot get the itunes software to download to my laptop, the one I am using to type this message. I'm using Windows XP pro. AOL internet connection through broadband with AT & T. Everytime I go to the download site, I click on the proper one and click the down load button. Not matter if it set it to run or to save, the setup does not download to my computer. I have tried as I said both run and saving to a folder and then opening the folder and tring to click on it to set up and nothing happens. I have checked my control pannel and then gone to add or remove software and in the entire listing there is no itunes showing. When I do a computer search for itunes it only finds the itunes in the ipod folder I set up on the desk top to download it into and save. I just won't download and install. I have tried to click on the setup in the folder I created on the desk top but it just does not install. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be??? Is there a CD that I can download the set up needed to use this ipod???
I have done everything I can think of, I have done a disk cleanup to get rid of temp internet files, junk and run my spyware program. My computer has no viruses. After doing these, I still can't download the setup itunes software.
I do have have another laptop available, and I can try that one, but before I try downloading the itunes setup on my other computer, can someone tell me why I can't download the setup to this computer????
I am frustrated, can someone help !!!

I solved the problem, it seems that Quicktime was not properly installed on my computer. Even thought it showed when I looked in the control panel under add and remove software, it was there, but it was not working. I went to the quicktime tab at www.apple.com and downloaded quicktime again. This time I got a blue Q in my lower righ hand corner of my screen, so when I click on it the quicktime screen comes up and is working. I then downloaded the itunes 7.0.2 and it downloaded and set up fine, now I am just waiting for all my music on my computer to conver to itunes.

  • Dual burner troubles in DVDSP 4!

    Hi
I have the internal SuperDrive, and an external Bravo DVD robot on my G5. When I am in DVDSP and need to burn a disc, the program defaults to the external robot as the burn drive, not the internal SuperDrive. This is annoying since it is not within arm's-reach, and I want to use the internal drive anyways to record master discs. I haven't been able to find any place in DVDSP to assign the internal drive as the primary burner.
Outside of disconnecting the Bravo from the Mac I can't find how to change back to the intwrnal drive,
    Any ideas?!
    Thanks

under format you can set the burner right below the destination

  • More burning problems in itunes

i had originally posted this thread in the wrong forum(windows - oops!), so now i'm posting here.
it would seem a lot of us are currently experiencing problems with our beloved macs, and the burning issue seems to encompass many models, versions, updates, etc.
    could this be the 'viral'?
    see my post below:
and now for something completely different,
i am having similar problems but only when using my external writer (an lg gsa4167b). i've wasted about 15 discs so far, and have been able to isolate it to audio quality (aiff) burns only. itunes will burn an mp3 disc without issue.
and my internal drive (i installed a benq into my emac) works flawlessly in any format.
i am using patchburn 4.0 to install the drive support file (for both writers).
the hang starts just after checking the playlist and the screen indicates burn initialization; and then nothing. conveniently it burns just enough info to toast the disc, as i have to manually turn off the drive to cancel the operation and allow itunes to quit.
while parts of this issue seem to be hardware related, and as i did not own the drive prior to installing 10.4.4 and upgrading to itunes 6.0.2, it seems odd that the drive works flawlessly burning anything and everything else. i can even burn dvds without issue, and disk copy(disk utility) works fine too.
are there any other mac users having the same issue?
    any help would be great.

Sure there are some missing fields depending on what kind of music you own, but ranting/posting in here isn't going to get it added.

The memory manager driver (vmmemctl module) is used by VMware host software to
efficiently reclaim memory from a virtual machine.
If the driver is not available, VMware host software may instead need to swap
guest memory to disk, which may reduce performance.

    Hello All,
I have just purchased a Sony CD-RW drive and it is behaving very strangly. It can read CDs absolutely fine.
When I try to burn a CD (tried Nero, and Windows burning software) it says it is writing and says complete with no probs, however the disc is still blank...

  • More import troubles for a Lightroom amateur..

    Hello one and all.
I've been searching for a solution to my problem for a few days now and as of yet no luck. I'm quite inexperienced with all the ins and outs and dialogs of Lightroom; I'm a very basic user, import photos, organise into sets etc and collections and then just edit.
As of the other evening, after inserting my SD card into my Mac's built in reader, Lightroom would open the import catalog and show all of the images on the card, greying out those that were previously imported and those that are due to be copied.
My lightroom is set to copy the photos over from my SD card to my pictures folder on my Macbook but for some reason, whenever I try to import any photos, it won't let me. It will bring up the import bar (top left) along with the import in progress screen. Then Lightroom decides to 'lock-up' (i think that's the term?) and won't import any photos. It doesn't freeze exactly, rather it just refuses to import them to the pictures folder. I have tried deleting my preferences and such to no avail. I also just reinstalled it and still the same problem.
BUT when I tell Lightroom to send my pictures to another folder, it works fine? I'm at a loss as this is kind of inconvinent.
    I'm running Mac OS X V10.6.8 with a 2.3GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB of 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM so the computer shouldn't even break a sweat doing it's task
I use a Canon 550D that I havent updated in a while. I just updated my EFI firmware on the Mac in vain it would help. As far as I can tell it appears to be a probelm with location? I have googled and tried a nuber of things and I'm 100% sure it's the tiniest thing but I would really appreciate some help as to what's going on. It's just one of those things that will end up confusing me until I sort it.
Any help will be muchly appreciated,
Many thanks to all in advance (even if you call me a internet n00b who doesn't know how to google)
    Ash.
oh and for the record I've been trying to google the solution for a couple of days now

What happens when you try to copy images directly from the SD card reader to a new subfolder in 'Pictures' on your HDD using the OS X Finder and NOT LR?
I know I will be flamed for what I am about to say, but so be it! I suggest never copying images from any camera or card reader directly into LR using the 'Import' module. There have been many reports (too many to count!) of users losing images, corrupting images, or simply not copying a single file, even though everything appeared to be working just fine. Yes it should work without a hitch since it is a simple operation, but it doesn't in too many cases!
I have never used LR's 'Import' module to download image files direct from a camera or with a card reader. I also have NEVER lost or corrupted a single image file, or have an image file that didn't get transferred to the exact folder location I selected. Here is my simple procedure, which takes very little additional time:
    1) Copy the image files direct from camera or a card reader to one (1) destination folder on your hard drive using Windows Explorer or Mac Finder. I use the simplest folder naming hierarchy: Camera Model (Canon 5D MKII) > Shoot Date (YYYMMDD). If the images on the card were shot over multiple days, I use the last day of the shoot. REASON: LR provides plenty of organizational tools for cataloging and adding metatdata to your image files.
Keep Image Storage Simple = KISS
    2) Open Lightroom's Import module and 'Add' the new files.
    3) Confirm the picture count for the new image files imported into Lightroom. This will be easy if you used one (1) folder with the shoot date, located under your 'Camera Model' main folder.
    4) Sort images by 'Capture Time' and check the first image file (oldest) for full functionality by verifying 1:1 preview has proper imaging in LR’s ‘Develop’ module.
    5) Repeat #4 above for the very last file (newest).
This isn't an exhaustive test, but a good "common sense" check that the image files transferred properly to your hard drive and are fully functional in LR (i.e. not corrupted).
