More download woes

After thinking the problem was fixed, I again cannot download the updates. Here's the message I get: "Unable to extract the downloaded files. Press retry to download again. (U44M1I210)" Retrying the process produces the same negative rusult. How can I resolve this?

I assume that you have the "perpetual" version of PSCS6
Deactivate the PSCS6.
Uninstall the PSCS6 - using the uninstall photoshop app in photoshop folder with Mac. I think control panel on windows.
Reinstall PSCS6 - the error code you got  (U44M1****} is usually associated with some missing file. Reinstalling will fix that.
Then install the CC version. When it is installed, run the the CC version and go to help menu where you choose "update".
When this finishes you should have version 13.1.2

Very Important, how much Free Space is on your Hard Drive first of all? Click on the Macintosh HD on the Desktop, then do a Get Info on it.
Could be many things, we should start with this...
    "Try Disk Utility
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu at top of the screen. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
    3. Click the First Aid tab.
    4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
    5. Click Repair Disk, (not Repair Permissions). Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106214
Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)
If perchance you can't find your install Disc, at least try it from the Safe Boot part onward.
Do they launch OK while in Safe Mode?

  • How to get more downloads at the same time

On my old computer I could download 20 files at the same time (or more, depending on the size). I've got a new computer now but Safari only downloads 4 files at a time: the other files are put on hold and start only when anotehr file has finished downloading.
How can I enable more downloads at the same time?

I'm not using any enhancings apps, so... that can't be it. I did go from 10.3.x to 10.4.x, but I guess that's not the point either. Maybe some internetsettings is keeping things from going full throttle...?
I download from Usenet a lot and downloading multiple files with Safari was very nice: I'd get 20 50 Mb files within a few minutes on my computer. Now I can only get 4 files in that same time (I guess it's a bit faster but not much: I have a VERY fast connection!). Okay, all in all it still only takes half an hour (probably less) to download 3 Gb this way, but I just wonder what's holding Safari back...
(BTW Downloading big files spread into rars is VERY nice! If I had to download a 3 Gb file as ONE file, it would take a LOT more time...! Makes you wonder why not all companies offer their software (specially larger files) in smaller parts... They used to do that in the early internet days because otherwise you would never ever get that file downloaded on that 56k6 line, but nowadays it still would be great if they offered everything in small parts!

  • No more download of Creative Cloud after new installation Windows 7.

I had several blue screens due to a lack of the battery. Therefore I reinstalled Windows 7 on my harddisk. I wanted to reinstall Creative Cloud but the code I have bought was an activation code and this code has been used. So no more download possible of CC. What is wise to do next?

Syncing with iTunes on a Mac or PC requires:
Mac: OS X v10.6.8 or later
PC: Windows 7; Windows Vista; or Windows XP Home or Professional with Service Pack 3 or later
iTunes 10.7 or later (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
Also included on the retail sales box.

  • I've downloaded osx lion but cant install, it says cannot verify maybe corrupted or tampered during download. And I try to download again but it can't. No more download menu. It just appear " installed"

Can't believe no one tried to help you. If it is saying it's installed, have you tried to reboot while holding CMD and R together? it'll take you to the partition of Lion that has the install information, try re installing your os after verifying the disk in disk utility (also available after hitting cmd R). Instead of a disk, Lion makes a partition in your main HDD/SSD. The idea is you'll never have to boot from your original CD again.

  • More iTunes woes

I thought that if I synced a little more frequently I could avoid some of the problems iTunes throws up (eg wanting to wipe my iPad clean for a laugh).
I plugged it in today and it's just spent ages transferring gigabytes of apps to my Mac .... that are already on my Mac and have been for ages!
    Why is it doing that???

"If possible, I'd like a solution that doesn't require reinstalling iTunes or updating iTunes, because I get an installation error message with iTunes whenever I try to do that (great program)."
That's not exactly a realistic expectation. Try and use Microsoft's Cleanup Utility and then reinstall Quicktime/iTunes:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Make sure it's a new and fresh download from:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
See if any of these help:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302538
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302386
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302775
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
If not mentioned in the articles, make a new user account in Windows XP and see if iTunes opens. That will tell you if there's something funky in your main account (if the new user works), or if you have a system-wide issue.

    (1) *Only applications* can show the "_Open in 32-bit mode_" option.
If you are using "Get Info" on some other filetype, not seeing 32-bit is expected. However, you should still see the Get Info window.
    (2) Test as follows: select any application's iCon by clicking once on it in your Mac's "Applications" folder. Then hold down the "⌘" key and tap the "i " key once. The Get Info window should open.
    (3) Having used the process in (2), if you still see "... nothing comes up ..."
Does that mean that no Get Info window opens?
If you are uncertain that you are seeing a Get Info window, here is a picture of one:
      (Yours will contain different information.)
    (4) If you do not see any "Get Info" window, try using the *File > Get Info* menu command instead of the "⌘ i" keyboard shortcut.

    I do not understand this.
    (5) If this paragraph is still related to your +Get Info+ problem, see the suggestions above.
    (6) If this paragraph relates to "download issues", please provide some explanation of the problem.
    (7) If this paragraph is still about help with More iChat Effects problems, my best suggestion is you carefully follow the developer's uninstall instructions to remove this third-party add-on if it will not work with the Mac OS.
If you want keep trying to use MiE with SL, take a look at this recent thread about the same 32-bit and color-inverted problems you mention for other suggestions:

  • Downloading woes

This web site expects us to be able to download an entire product
in one go! No way will this happen to us with flakey
    connections!
I need an Oracle client for Linux. just the client. But to get
this, I'm going to have to download the entire server package,
    at
    168 megs.
Does anyone involved with the web site monitor these forums? How
about providing 10-meg chunks to be put together? I've seen this
for some products here, and it works.
And providing the client software seperately from the server
would be good. It's done here for NT/95, why not the other OS's?
Hopefully this website can become a more useful resource.

pacman has to check the dependencies and stuff, so it may take about a minute in some cases. But after the first run the file database should be in your RAM, so the searches shouldn't take more than a couple seconds.
wjn wrote:it takes quite some time to find the files/packages
Do you mean pacman can't find the packages on the mirrors or there are no errors and it just is working a bit long?

  • New iMac - software is on the laptop. I should have one more download for Lightroom but can't find my disc. Am I SOL or can they not allow me to download it online?

I just got a new iMac desktop. I need to install Lightroom on it. I had it on my laptop and I cannot find the disc anywhere. Shouldn't I be able to download it online with a key code from the original program? I cannot get thru in chat support with adobe and I tried to call and it doesn't work either. This is my only hope someone help.

As long as you still have your serial number you can download it here: Adobe - Lightroom : For Macintosh

  • More printer woes?

Hi, everyone - I have looked through the thread and seen that printing problems are common with Leopard, but I've never seen anything like this! I was able to get the library's new iMac printing perfectly - I just had to be sure it was recognizing the printer it was actually attached to! (We have 4 computers in the teen room, linked to three hp 810s - the eMacs are networked).
But, when I bring our lovely new macbook in there and hook it up to the very same printer the iMac uses, it simply won't print. I get a message saying there was a fatal error and the printer connection failed. All we can do is to save stuff onto a flash drive and bring it over to the iMac or one of the pcs (for adobe and word files) and print that way.
We'd love to be able to print directly from the macbook. Why on earth can't we?!!

What we've done is to unhook the usb cable from the iMac and hook it to the macbook. It's a stand alone printer, and we make sure the cable is firm. Then we open whatever file it is (we've tried in word and print shop, both of which are installed on both machines). And it won't print. We get the "fatal error" message I've described above. We can print those very same files from the iMac after we transfer them, though there I think I'm having the postscript problem. But the macbook simply refuses to connect to the printer at all. That's the problem.
Again, there's nothing wrong with the usb cable, it's firmly plugged in, and it's a standalone printer.
Thanks for your response. Can you think of anything I should try, like maybe looking for printer drivers on the macbook?
Unless we had out of date drivers, I've never come across anything remotely like this in any earlier version of OS X - or any version of the mac OS. Printers just used to work! I'm very frustrated that this doesn't seem to be so any more.

  • More Download problems

I Cannot download the 9i client zip file for win 2000 (92010NT_CLT.zip). I successfully downloaded the 3 server files yesterday but since last night I cannot download anymore. The server keeps returning a bad or no response.

Thanks for your response, will try that link when I get back to that machine. Meanwhile if you are interested in the messages, here is the sequence of non-events:
    Went to adobe.com
    Clicked on Adobe Reader
Clicked on the Download link (yellow button)
A small window popup window appears, title "Adobe Download Manager," text "Installing Adobe Download Manager" with green progress bar. While the green dots chase each other at the bottom left of the Firefox screen there is a message, "Waiting for get,adobe.com"
After a while the popup disappears and I'm left looking at what I suppose is a trouble shooting window which details problems that may occurr "Depending on your security settings, you may encounter these steps:"
    (it's at: http://get.adobe.com/reader/download/?installer=Reader_10_English_for_Windows&a=ARH&a=Air_ Installer&d=McAfee_Security_Scan_Plus&os=XP&browser=Firefox&type=xpi&xpiinstalled=1)
Looking at the add-ons in Firefox Adobe Download Manager is already installed. However, there is no link to downloading Reader X
    That's the problem.

  • More MJPEG woes

Alright, so Colin helped me out of a problem a while ago (A month? I'd have to check) - he got me the 64 bit Matrox codecs.
It's worked fine until this week (no configuration changes to point to). Now its crashing everytime I go to encode the video or render the footage. The faulting module is the codec itself. I've uninstalled/reinstalled and redownloaded/uninstalled/reinstalled with no change in behavior.
It's not my export settings (as those work fine under any other normal circumstance) and only when I am working with mjpeg footage (any mjpeg footage, so its not individual clips, or rather shouldn't be).
    Using the seperate encoder program:
    PProHeadless.exe

    >Adobe Premiere Pro.exe    5.0.0.0
Is there some reason you have not updated to the latest version?
All Adobe updates start here and select product, install in number order, updates are not cumulative http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/
I think PPro is at 5.0.2 - which contains several bug fixes
