More FlexMotion installer BUGS!!!!

I found out some more information about the bugs in the FlexMotion Installer. It seems if I log into an account with admin privilages, then everything runs ok. If I log into another account (without admin privilages), like say THE PRODUCTION ACCOUNT, then for everything you do the FLEX-MOTION install program pops up!
Just trying to run Internet Explorer makes the installer come up. And if you "cancel" it, it just pops right back up!
Talk about a good way for NI to really piss off its customers!
IS THERE ANY WAY TO FIX THIS BUG! Even just tell me where the damn installer program is, and I'll erase the thing!

Nick,
The reason why the installer will pop-up with IE or VB application is because for some reason your previous installation or operation of the driver broke some file. MAX controls Motion and it is built over IE and VB, so whenever you call this applications it searches registries and founds that there is something wrong with a file in Motion, it will try to go and repair it itself, but since it does not finds the install files it pops up the installer (and the installer searches the registry which as a user you don't have access to), I believe this is the reason also for your message "can't connect to network share...", probably your motion driver was installed from that directory and you don't have access to it as a user. Your best option is to download the files t
o install the driver to your computer, then log as an administrator, install flexmotion (reinstall), and leave the files there. Log as a user and you should be able to use the motion hardware with no problem. In case you do, then your system may be having other issues that we need to troubleshoot more deeply, we have lots of customers using NT, 2000 and XP with users operating motion without any trouble so we may be facing a more complicated issue.
If you have any other concerns about NI software or hardware you can also discuss this with us so we can see what is the reason for this issues to happen, and give you the solutions to help you succeed. Developing with unknown hardware or software can be frustrating but at support we look forward to help you out master our products.
Feel free to contact us, you will find the details at www.ni.com/ask and select "phone NI" from the support options so you can talk with one of us.
Good luck!

  • More Aperture 3 bugs....Grrrr

The export to email options are totally messed up. You can select the size of the photo but aperture happily ignored that and uses it's previousm setting. You can see this by quiting aperture, going into preferences again and there is the old value. So for example, if I select medium JPEG it will still pass along a great big full size one across to mail, if that was the previous setting.
Now you can get it to remember the option but only if you edit the new size you have selected and pretend to change it and then save it. All fine and good you would think - a workaround. Well no, this leads to an even worse bug...
Try and add a new option. I tried JPEG and made it full size (by duplicating the existing one) and then moved the slider along to full quality. Well that results is a 12MB JPEG file - for a 12MP camera? ***?
I've never seen such a buggy application from Apple before. There is *no way* this application was properly tested. I'm getting a little tired of beta (or is that alpha?) testing this.

I can't agree with you more. I keep thinking it's me, but this is a horrible release:
    1) Memory leaks like crazy.
    2) Gratuitous pinwheel of death for no good reason.
    3) Mouse scrollwheel support broken.
    4) Your preset bug.

  • A few more FCP X Bugs/Annoyances

    Hello all,
I cannot thank the help and expertise from some of the members in the FCP X support community.  Luis Sequeira and Tom Wolsky you guys are part of the reason why I am persevering with FCP X and am finding it to be the future of editing despite the many flaws it has.  I was glad to find out I wasn't just one of a few who found some of the bugs and inconsistencies to be slightly more than an annoyance.  Here are a few more that i've noticed and am wondering if anyone has found out why these issues exist and would care to add upon:
This one is for Macbook FCP X users.  I don't have this problem on my tower or my 27" iMac so I am led to believe this is a deliberate (althrough strange and unwise) GUI design change from Apple.  When I open up my color board on my 13" Macpro, I see my color board, exposure and saturation control just like I do on my desktops.  I do not however, see the percentage change view/controls underneath.  I cannot scroll down further, all I have to play with is the respective color, saturation and exposure "board" leaving me to use my eyes as my only trusted gauge for correction/change.  Here's an image of what I see...
    Notice no percentage gauge?
Here's another issue I have not been able to find a workaround for despite trying usual and predictable avenues in my attempts.  It's not a huge deal, but being a keyboard shortcut junky, I find it annoying that I cannot press Command + E to export with my default settings on my macbook.  The shortcut is not visible in the menu or when I hover my curser over the icon.  Naturally, I went into my command editor to see whether i'd have to edit or completely create this shortcut on my own.  The shortcut is definately still the same in the comman editor, but still no avail.  I've input the keys to manually create this shortcut, still the same.
    Here is what I see:
No matter what I do, when I press Command + E (I make sure i'm in the timeline) the shortcut doesn't work and I hear the sound that occurs when an incorrect or unvailable  command/action occurs.  Not a huge deal but still need to know if this is a legit bug or if it was intentional for laptop owners for some strange unidentifiable reason.  I'm wondering if any other Macbook users are encountering the same problem.
I am about to mention these issues as well as a few others in hopes they can address them in future updates but wanted other peoples take on them.  These aren't bugs as much as things I think would make more sense if corrected or improved upon:
Pressing CMD + 6 to open AND CLOSE the color board  to make color adjustments.  Once i am done making my necessary color/exposure adjustments, why can't i close this window with the same shortcut i used to open it?  I can open the color board with CMD+ 6 but cannot close it with the same keyboard shortcut command.  Same with CMD + 8 for audio enhancements, I can open the audio enhancements window with this shortcut but cannot close it with this shortcut.  I have to close the entire inspector with the keyboard shortcut cmd 4 to close the window.  Seems very counter intuitive and for short term projects isn't that big of an issue (like I mentioned i'm a keyboard shortcut fanatic), but becomes very annoying for paid, commercial work (which i've become accustomed to using CS6 for).  When i work on my laptop I keep the inspector open when I need to maximize viewer space and would like to be able to have the color board close as conveniently as it opens without having to press cmd 4 to close inspector.  Not that big of a deal but would like to see this fixed, wanted other people's thoughts?
Thanks again for your help, the transition to FCP X for things other than Facebook and short Instagram vids is coming about slowly but surely...
    Anthony

Pull down the separator bar at the bottom of the color board to create more space for the percentages.
The color board and audio enhancements are parts of the inspector. You close the inspector with Cmd-4.
Cmd-E is the default export setting. It's assignable to any preset or custom export setting. Open Destination preferences, right-click on the setting you want and select make default.

More info in finder inspector window bug, it's not showing anything. but sometimes it's shows correct info.

When you select a document (whatever it may be) and click on "More Info" you can scroll down and see the section "Sharing & Permissions" How many (by default) should appear on the list that is shown below? There is the administrator and "Everyone". Is that it?
No, there are many, but it depends on the file you are looking at.
If you right-click, for example, Extensions.mkext in the System Library you will see listed
    system
    wheel
    everyone.
These are special users and groups that are important for the proper running of BSD.
    There are also

    procmod
    and numerous others.

  • Adobe Reader 2.0 unsuccessful installation - bug

Yesterday I discovered weird bug in installation of Adobe Reader for Pocket PC 2.0. Installation failed with message "installation was unsuccessful". After long investigation I found, that file "Adobe Reader User Guide.pdf" exists in "My Documents" folder (it was copied by ActiveSync synchronization). When I removed it, installation was successful. I hope it will help somebody.

  • Rant: project developers should pay more attention to bug reports

I believe that software reliability is one of the key parts of software quality: having a lot of features is useless if they don't work reliably. It is for this reason that most open source project have a bug tracker of some sort. However, having a bugtracker is not very useful if you let bugs sit there until you can mark them as "obsolete" several years later. I try to report most of the bugs I find because I believe it's one of the best contributions I can make to open source, however in my experience (I've reported dozens of bugs), more often than not bug reports are ignored, even if they are detailed and the reporter agrees to give more details when needed.
So if you develop an open source project and you're reading this, please pay attention to your bug reporters. These people take time to help you improve your software, don't ignore them. At the very least, close your bug tracker if you're going to ignore bug reports anyways. That way I won't lose valuable time creating reports that you will never read.

This is probably true, many bugs are ignored. But open-source developers normally only have their free time to work on their projects, and the motivation is not the same for all issues.
Also I think it's not common that all issues get ignored. Usually it's the ones who are not important, or very hard to fix, or a combination of both.
In any cases, don't lose motivation, reporting bugs is indeed a good contribution, and even if only a minority gets fixed, it's still better than nothing

  • Application installation bug in 10.4.10???

I've been unable to install a Filemaker Pro 8.5 upgrade because the installer icon has been replaced by a red circle with a line through it, and when double clicked, opens the application Switch, used to change audio file formats. I've been dialoging with baltwo in the Admin and Accounts forum and have tried repairing permissions and creating a new admin account to no avail. I couldn't change applications to Installer, because it was grayed out in both accounts. He's stumped, I'm stumped, and the Filemaker support tech is stumped. Filemaker is wondering if I've happened on a bug in 10.4.10. They're sending me a new disk to try, but didn't sound too hopeful. I installed other programs the same day I started trying this one, and everything else worked fine.
Does anyone have any other ideas? I'll try anything. I'm getting desperate; I really need to get Filemaker up on my Mac Pro.

You're right, I am desperate! I took your advice and went to JustAnswer.com for advice. Their tech felt that perhaps the application on the CD had been inadvertantly locked somehow so it couldn't be run. I went back to Filemaker, who thought that perhaps the CD had been made with a version missing its extension, and to try adding .app to the file. I did that on a copy I dragged to my hard drive, and it corrected the red circle icon, and it opened properly as an installer. they offered me a replacement disk, which finally arrived today. Same exact problem, same icons, same "Open with" application problems; I went through the same steps with the same results. I'm concerned that installing from my hard drive copy might not install properly and even corrupt my databases. So back to the drawing board...
    I'm extremely frustrated and desperate!

  • Question about unzipping/installing two-CD kits and installation bug.

Oracle Developer Suite 10g comes as two CDs and as two download zip files. Because it's in two CDs, file conflicts are possible and in fact occur. The only conflict is with the [unzip-root]\stage\disk.label file.
I can think of several possible procedures -- (1) unzip to separate folder trees; (2) unzip first CD, install and look for instructions to unzip the second; or (3) unzip them both to the same folder tree and rename or overwrite disk.label, because they are not used. My guess is the latter. There is nothing about this in the OUI documentation or the product release notes or installation guide.
The actual install (Windows XP) fails with:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: D:\[install-root]\stage\Patches\oracle.options.ano.ssl.owm\10.1.0.4.2\1\DataFiles\install_fg.jar (The system cannot find the file specified)
This folder has a file named install_fg.1.1.jar, so there is a mismatch between the installation script and the actual filename (no assumption about which is wrong). I would think this to quickly become a known bug and a fix provided, but I cannot find any information. That's my real problem.
Also, when the install stops, OUI returns to the initial install page, but does not back out the partial install. I now have D:\DevSuiteHome_1 and _2 folders and corresponding folders on my start menu, each with only icons for the Universal Installer and UI Concepts Guide. Is there a good way to back out partial installs, or do I just need to delete what I can see?
Thanks in advance for help. Cross-posted to various relevant forums.

  • J2RE 1.4.1 Silent installation bug

    Hi,
Trying to deploy the RE in our network, using Swedish NT4.
The default application path in Swedish NT is C:\PROGRAM instead of C:\PROGRAM FILES.
When setting up the answer file, it correctly identifies the installation path as C:\PROGRAM\JAVA..., and the SETUP.ISS file looks correct.
But, when running this silent install on another PC, it gets installed to C:\PROGRAM FILES\JAVA...
This is probably a bug in the Install Shield, but anyway, does anyone have an idea on how to fix this?
    Thanks.

I don't know jack about Java, I've only been asked to install this since a new application needs it.
Found out that even if I change the install dir to something completely different, it installs to the default anyway...
    Cheers,
    Seb

  • Oracle EPM 11.1.2.2 installer bug

    Hello,
Anyone found a problem with the installer for EPM 11.1.2.2 where if you go back into installtool.cmd after an install and try to add another product. The new product gets installed but the inventory and Comps.xml files get corrupted and some already installed products seem to be removed.
We have hit this several times and are wondering if there is a patch.
    Thanks.

If you can reproduce it then it is probably worth raising with Oracle, I have not seen any patches related to it.
    Cheers

  • Can't update to 9.3.3 - installer bug?

I'm trying to update Acrobat using "Check for Updates..." from the Help menu.
The update downloads fine, but I get stuck when another "Repair Setup" window appears asking me about missing optional components, in this case the Adobe PDFViewer Safari Plugin, which I haven't installed (and don't want to install).
The trouble is the Repair Setup window cannot get focus, so I can't cancel or continue, and the Acrobat Updater window has the cancel button greyed out.
I was forced to force quit the updater. I tried the updater again, but reached the same problem. Acrobat seems to be ok, but is only on version 9.3.1.
I'm reluctant to keep trying as force quitting installer apps is not one of my hobbies.
    Anyone else getting this?
    [OS X 10.6.2  Design Standard CS5]

I have the same problem. I assume it is connected with not having the Safari PDFViewer Plugin installed, which Acrobat insists on installing. But since the actual installer program runs without a dock icon, the error dialog can't get focus. Another classic example of superior Adobe Installer Engineering …
Workaround: Launch Acrobat, choose "Help > Repair Acrobat Installation", install the PDFViewer Plugin, then run the updater by choosing "Help > Check for Updates …".
Afterwards, go to /Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ and trash the AdobePDFViewer.plugin.

  • Ouch, Windows JDK 1.4.2_02 installer bug!

The offline installer keeps telling me
"A path with a semi-colon in it, is not supported for this product.
Please select a directory path without a semi-colon.".
However I did not alter the default path "C:\j2sdk1.4.2_02"!
Can it be Sun never tested the installer at all?
Or am I the only one having this problem?
I guess someone hard-coded the test to use the Unix path separator ":".

  • More AIR Installation Problems

    Hi Everyone,
It seems i'm not alone in this - I can't seem to install Adobe AIR. It keeps saying that "An error occurred while installing Adobe AIR. Installation may not be allowed by your administrator. Please contact your administrator."
Looking around this and other forums,  I ran the Windows Uninstaller prorgramme but that didn't get me any further.
    Log file is below:

Anybody got any ideas on how to progress? It's getting important since there is some software i need to use tomorrow that depends on AIR.
    OS is Vista x64.
Thanks in advance for any hints

Well, it seems obvious (to me) from installation log that there are traces of three previous versions of Air on my PC.
Reading a post from TJ Downes (http://forums.adobe.com/message/1004357#1004357) , going through the registry and eliminating all things Adobe Air seemed a sensible course of action.  Did that and no change. Installation log comes out exactly as above.
Searching the registry for the keys given in the post didn't give any results.
Still can't install. Very stuck.  Somebody, please help!!

  • Ios 5 installation bug

the installation is stuck on the localisation page.... we can,t go further than that!!!! *** w need an answer quick please. it,s like the next button on the top right corner doesn,t work.

I have noticed the exact same issue. Since updating to iOS5 the maps app seems to not list the pin point position thus making the location based reminders very difficult to use.
I tested this with an iOS5 and an iOS4 device today and the iOS4 mapping gives street names and not just Johannesburg GP like on iOS5? See attached pictures with devices mapping at the same location?
I went into the Apple store in Sandton City on Thursday but the guy I spoke to simply said that it is a new operating system, and he would try and look into it? My problem is that if this is just a South African mapping iOS5 issue how long will it take to get resolved without being brought to the attention of the right people?
