More free space on my iPad

I have an iPad 2 with 16 gb. I have a lot of photos and want to transfer them somewhere else but still be able to have it on my iPad. I know Dropbox is an option but it's not as organized as photos. Is there something else I can use which as organized as photos. Because it tells me the location and the date. Thanks

In iTunes, you can click on the iPad Device and check what type of files are using storage on your iPad. On the Summary tab, at the bottom of the page, there is a chart showing what type of files are on your device. They are separated into groups by color.
Once you have identified the color that's taking most of your storage you might be able to determine which files need to be removed.
Also, are you using DropBox with a lot of favorites selected or a few larger files? Dropbox favorite files are kept on your device, even when it isn't connected to the internet. This could also be true with other file sharing services like Sugarsync.

  • Can I purchase more free space for my iPad?

Can I purchase more "free space" due to the following message that comes up on my iMac Pro when attempting to sync with my iPad: The iPad cannot be synced because there is not enough free space to hold all of the items in the iTunes library (additional 11.03 GB required). Or is the only solution to not allow certain things to be synced?

    Try wireless flash drive:

  • My iPad free space was shrinking.  Previously I did an iOS upgrade and got more free space so I tried a restore and the same thing happened.  Do I have a setting wrong?

My iPad free space was shrinking.  Previously I did an iOS upgrade and got more free space so I tried a restore and the same thing happened.  Do I have a setting wrong?  There was a significant change from 4.3 GB to now 10.2 GB.  I still have all the same apps, photos, songs, etc.  So what's up?  Why does my space not recover after I delete things?

This is what I did to resolve the issue.  First I did a simple Reset (Home and on/off until the Apple logo appears) and it didn't help.  Then I did a Restore with a reload from the backup and that also accomplished nothing.  Then, I did a Restore as new with NO reload from backup and that resolved my issue.
IF you choose to try the same thing, here are some cautions.  Make absolutely certain that all apps, music, movies, etc. are present in the iTunes library.  Also make absolutely certain that all "regular" data, such as pdf files, Word files, etc. are present and accessible somewhere on the computer's hard drive.  Be aware that you will probably lose all game data (scores, etc.).  I did not investigate a solution for that because I don't play many games and I really don't care about the game history.  Finally, be forewarned that it is a bit tedius recreating all your folders and putting each app where you want it.

  • Need more free space

My kids are playing Sims 2 and occasionally the game will not load because the Imac says that we need more available free space. Does anyone know how to remedy this?
Also, would increasing the amount of Virtual Memory resolve this? If so, how do I do that?
    Thanks,

The reference is to disk space not memory. Apparently your hard drive is too full. You either need to delete some data to make more free space or put in a larger hard drive or get an external drive and move some files from the internal drive to the external drive to free up space.
Virtual memory is under the control of the OS and expands or contracts as needed. There's no need for the user to modify the amount of VM.

  • How can I buy more iCloud space when my ipad won't sync and has jammed

How can I buy more icloud space when my ipad won't sync and has jammed.  I cannot press settings or close and cannot even turn off?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You might try a forced shutdown to begin with, hold down the top and home buttons together until the device shuts down, then restart it.

  • HT204053 I just purchased more storage space(10gb) for   iPAD, but when I attempted to download an app An error message appeared prompting me to buy more storage. according to my ICloud  I have 15gb available. Does anyone have any suggestions

I purchased more storage space(10gb)for my IPAD,but when I attempted to download an app an error message prompted me to purchase more storage.According to my ICloud I have 15gbavailable Any suggestions Help!!!

If you are trying to download an app and get an error about not enough memory, it's talking about memory on your iPad, not in iCloud.  I don't know what you mean by purchasing more storage space for your iPad, you can't add more memory to a device.  You may have bought more memory in iCloud, but that's not going to fix your current problem.  You need to delete songs or video, or some other large files from your iPad to make room for a new download.

iOS device backups are stored in your iTunes library.
Move your iTunes library to an external drive.

  • Several encrypted .dmg files show much more free space that the total size of the file.

I have several encrypted .dmg files on my macbook air running OS X 10.10.1  I have had them for years with no problems. Now suddenly, in the finder, at the bottom of the finder window where it shows the number of items and free space for a disk, it shows more free space than the full size of the .dmg file. Typically it will show about 200MB for a 100 MB file. Obviously, this is a bug, but I can find no information or discussions about it anywhere.
Does anyone have the same problem? Any ideas how to fix it?

Thanks for the ideas. Unfortunately, it didn't work.
I rebuilt the spotlight index as suggested.
I tried it twice, rebooting the computer a couple of time along the way.
Below you can see the actual file as it occurs in the finder in its unopened form.
Now, below here is what the finder reports at the bottom of the finder window when the file is opened and added as a virtual disk.
Note that the total file size is 102.5 Mb
Yet the finder says it has 234.5 Mb free!
The actual size of the files on the disk add up to about 60 Mb
This occurs with several similar dmg files.
Any other ideas or experiences would be appreciated.

  • My HD icon on the desktop is showing far more free space than I actually have.

I use a 2011 17" MBP with OS X Lion (750GB HD, 8GB RAM, 2.2GHz i7) and have noticed recently (only since I bought the new OS) that the Hard Drive icon on my desktop shows far more free space available than I know I have. It shows 488GB free of 497GB (with 250GB on a partition for Windows 7 Enterprise) and I know I have about 250-300GB worth of stuff. I've checked several times to ensure it's still there and all my files still work so it doesn't seem to be deleting things randomly. I just want to know if it's a calculation bug or if there's something else wrong. Thanks for any help in advance!

In case anyone reads this wondering if there's a solution, there is: turn off automatic time machine backups, and restart your computer. It turns out I had about 80GB worth of data stacking up between physical backups to external HDs. Apparently it counts as free space because it can be over-written when necessary, hence an elated free space count.
I also did a disk repair on the partition which OS X is on, which fixed some "minor logging issues" but I don't think that made a difference because nothing happened until I cleared the backup cache by turning off time machine. By the way, once I turned off time machine my HD free space sky-rocketed to 576GB of 497GB which freaked me out but don't worry, this is fixed once you restart.

  • More free space after iOS 5 upgrade!.

I actually have 2.5 Gb more free space on my 32Gb iPhone 4 after the iOS5 upgrade.  Is this possible?

I am also lost.  I upgraded itunes and ios5 on my iPhone4.  Now I have a gray slate screen on my IP4 that just says iPhone, and I am being asked to configure my device.  I cannot receive phone calls.  They go directly to voice mail, and I cannot make phone calls.  I have tried "everything".  Even with it "looking like" a backup/restore may be in process, it does not backup or restore.  I have no device, no music, no contacts, no pictures.  Can anyone help? Please....

This referes to RAM = Memory... not available Hard Drive Space.
Note:  Macs can be very Fussy about RAM...
You can use these Links to check which RAM is suitable for your Mac...

  • My harddisk info shows more free space as it has capazity

    hi everyone,
my harddisk info shows more free space as it has capazity!
Even after using the harddisk-tool to repair rights and catalog
the info below the harddrive shows more GB than it's own size.
This also appears in the info-window (command - i )
749,GB size of HD / 765,16 GB free
But the information about the harddrive shown in the harddrive-repair-tool
seems to be right, and shows approx. 600GB free of the 750GB harddrive ...
I'am a bit worried and are looking for a solution to repair this ...

  • How can I free up more storage space on my IPad?

How can I free up storage space on my IPad?  I have deleted all books, music, magazines, email, messages, most games, and I still have only 1.1 GB available.  There are files in Diagnostics and Usage that I can't figure out how to delete.  Can it be that and something else?  Any suggestions are welcomed.  Synced just yesterday and that didn't help.  Thanks!

  • How do I delete apps to free space on my iPad

I seem to have way to much space being used BY apps on my iPad.  I don't have very many apps on there and have removed all but the most necessary ones.  However, when I look at my summary of free space, it tells me that I have 20+ GB of apps using space.  There really isn't much more that I can remove and when I look at the list of apps, none of the remaining ones seem to be taking up any significant space.  Likewise, I have, in the summary box, several movies that are showing as duplicates and I can't de-select them so as to remove the duplication.
Thanks in advance for any help ideas.

    Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Delete what is not needed.

  • How much free space before updating iPad to 5?

I have an original, 64gb iPad One.
from what I am reading here, free disc space seems to be important before doing the upgrade.
how much free space do those of who have updated suggest, BOTH on then iPad, and on
    my PC hard drive?
Not looking forward to a bricked-install

The more stuff you got, the longer the whole update will take...increasing the chances something might not go smoothly.
So delete movies/videos first as they take up the most space. You can copy them back later. It's worth the small hassle imo.
