I'm trying to install Adobe Acrobat X Pro. I continue to receive error messages saying I already have a more functional product installed. I have FM 12 and Adobe Reader XI.

    Hi Beth,
You should not receive this message if you dont have Acrobat 11 installed.
Try removing Reader 11 and check.

  • Setup has detected you already have a more functional product installed....

Ok, have adobe standard XI. end user needs Pro to redact sections of pdf's.
paid 199.00 for digital upgrade from standard to pro. download...execute...
error on starting setup. setup has detected you already have a more functional product installed....installation will now terminate.
I have 2 choices. the Go to hell adobe your product dont work, and process a refund.
    or
try to get phone technical support.
Honestly why does adobe make it so difficult to work with them. My company needs digital signatures and i'd never use adobe. Adobe support is the worst in the IT industry imo and apparently their software developers cant determine that Pro is and UPGRADE from standard.
if anyone understands a work around i'd be interested in hearing but i can't say i've ever had an efficient experience with adobe and i wish i could find an alternative for adobe acrobat pro.

First you are attempting to install Acrobat Pro XI over Acrobat Standard XI and it's throwing an error that you have a more capable product.  While not the most elegant or even correct message IMHO what it means is that you can't install the same version of Pro over Standard. If they were different versions (ie. Acrobat Pro XI over Acrobat Standard X ) then it would work.   There are good reasons for this installation error, but let us try to get you to the place where you can actually get the work that you need to get done accomplished.
You can use a virtual machine like VMWare, VirtualPC, Parallels, or Oracle VirtualBox to host another Windows instance and load Adobe Acrobat Pro on that vm.  These are really the best way to keep things on the same machine and have both as separate usable installations.  In all cases, you provide the Windows installation media. The price of the VM software varies from free to some reasonable prices.   Your choice though.
VMWare is a purchased product Windows and Mac:  http://www.vmware.com
Parallels is a purchased product for Mac only:  http://www.parallels.com
VirtualPC is downloadable from Microsoft at no cost:  http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3702
Oracle VirtualBox is downloadable from Oracle at no cost: https://www.virtualbox.org
And one more thing... you need to contact Adobe Customer service because you should be using the full Acrobat XI installer with a full blown installer Serial Numberand not the upgrade installer with an upgrade serial number.

  • When trying to install Adobe Standard XI, it says, "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Steup will now terminate."  I have a Pro trial installed but did not seed so much functionality so I purchased standard.

uninstall any acrobat and reader versions, if you have win os clean (Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs) and then install acrobat std.

  • Attempting to reinstall Acrobat Pro ver 8. Error: a more functional product installed"

My computer crashed a few months ago which required reinstalling all software. Acrobat Pro was not showing up on my programs menu yesterday so I assumed I had not reinstalled it. I attempted the installation and received error: "Setup has detected that you already have a more functional product installed. Setup will now terminate."
Assuming that it was installed, with updates, I decided to uninstall it. It is not listed as an installed program in Control Panel / Programs and Features; however, there is an Acrobat 8.0 folder in Program Files/Adobe. After this didn't work, I uninstalled Adobe Reader 9.0 but it made no difference.
The following are installed: Adobe AIR, Adobe Captivate 4, Adobe Creative Suite 4 Production Premium, Adobe Creative Suite 4 Web Standard, and Adobe Reader 9.1 (which I reinstalled today).
I called tech support, but since it is not the current version, have to pay for support. Can anyone help with this problem?
    Thanks!

You are not supposed to have Reader and Acrobat Pro installed on the same computer. Additionally, your CS 4 Production Premium should have come with Acrobat Pro 9! If that is installed, you should not try to install 8. See if you can fix the installation of CS 4 Production Premium installation to get it to install Acrobat Pro 9. If that is not possible, I'd advise deactivating your Adobe Software, running the CS 4 Cleansscript  and then try re-installing fram scratch.

  • Update to Adobe Acrobat failed because it said I had a more functional product installed.

I have no idea what more functional product I have installed. Also, when I clicked on my plugin Adobe Acrobat to update, the update said Adobe Reader. Are they the same?

Thanks. I removed Adobe Reader, then clicked on the Update Now box for Adobe Acrobat in my Firefox plug-ins. This time the installation worked, but after closing my browser and opening it again, in my plug-ins list it still says to Update Now. Adobe Reader X (10.1.4) is now in my programs list so I don't know why.

  • I cannot install Adobe X Pro.  It states that I already have a more functional product installed.

I only have Adobe Reader XI and Adobe Flash Player loaded on my laptop.  Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    JD

    Hi jtide,
Please check if you are trying to install Acrobat X Pro or Reader X.
If it's Acrobat, then try uninstalling Reader 11 and install Acrobat. After Acrobat is installed, Install Reader 11.
Acrobat X Pro with Reader 11 can be installed on the same computer.
Check the version interoperability list : http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/problems-installing-removing-acrobat-reader.html#main_Ve rsion_interoperability

  • Cannot Install Acrobat 9 Pro Extended - More Functional Product Available

I am trying to install Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on my new PC. I get an error that a more functional product is avilable on my PC and the install closes. I installed Framemaker 10 before attempting Acrobat 9 Pro Extended. I notice a folder in my files that is Acrobat 10 (but there is no icon or program option in the menus). Is this the problem? Do I need to uninstall Framemaker, then install Acrobat 9, and then reinstall Framemaker? Any help is appreciated.

Hi, yes, understood that they are different things. However, if I'm to
rely on the link provided on the first reply then does it follow that 9
Pro is also not supported on Mountain Lion? I have a MACbook here on OSX
Mountain Lion, and as I've also mentioned on my first post, I was able to
install 9 Pro and update it as well.
It really is just odd that Lion is singled out here. I also checked this
and there is no mention of problems with updating 9 Pro:
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/known-issues-mac-os-10.html
Sorry, but just trying to really find a workaround for this issue right
now. We though of using X Pro instead but, again, if I rely on the system
    requirements on this link -
    http://www.adobe.com/sea/products/acrobatpro/tech-specs.html - the OSX
version our user has is still not supported.
    Mac OS
    Intel processor
    Mac OS X v10.5.8 or v10.6.4
    512MB of RAM (1GB recommended)
    1.2GB of available hard-disk space
    1024x768 screen resolution
    DVD-ROM drive
    Safari 4 for Mac OS X v10.5.8; Safari 4 or 5.0.x for Mac OS X v10.6.4
    Thanks.

  • Problem installing Acrobat 9: "more functional product is already installed"

When trying to install Acrobat 9, a message says that a more functional product is already installed.
I believed this issue was due to the Adobe Acrobat 11 PDF creation utility which was installed with FrameMaker 12. I therefore deinstalled FrameMaker 12, because I believed that the Adobe Acrobat 11 PDF creation utility would be removed as well. However, the issue persists.
Currently, only Adobe Reader XI, FrameMaker 10, and the ExtendScript Toolkit are installed.
I'd be grateful for any help how to solve this.

    Problem solved!
After I ran the Acrobat Cleaner tool, the Adobe PDF Creation Add-On XI was now displayed in the Control Panel > Programs and Features list. (No idea why it wasn't available there in the first place.) So in the end I could remove this utility and install Acrobat 9 without issues.
Thanks again to Bill who put me on the right path. :-)

  • Acrobat 9 fails to install: 'more functional product'

I tried to install Acrobat 9 but was told I have 'a more functional product' so the install quit. I do not have Acrobat installed, but Reader 11 is installed. Is the installer confusing the two?

Of course now I have a red badge on the App Store that is asking me to update the Epson driver.  I wonder if that will blow out the TWAIN driver.  It's epson14333.dmg.
No.  Your TWAIN drivers are separate than the Image Capture Device drivers that would be installed by the printer driver update.
Also, no way of getting rid of the badge notification in system preferences.  App store is not listed.
There is no law that you must update software just because it is available.  There is no way to get rid of the red badge, but you don't have to do the upgrade.

  • Acrobat Pro XI will not install.  Error says: Setup has determined you have a more functional product.

I have Standard XI installed and Pro will not install.  Says Setup has determined you have more functional product.  Setup will now terminate.

It may be that it is seeing the version number and not the product itself. All I can suggest is for you to deactivate and uninstall Std, then install Pro.

YOu need to be clear about the products you are using, so we can help you. In particular there is no trial of Adobe Reader, it is free and keeps running. Sounds like you are using some versions of Acrobat - which?
YOu must properly uninstall the trial, don't just delete files or you may get a mess impossible to recover.

  • Acrobat 9 pro more functional program error

    Hi all
I have a feeling this is a reaccuring post and i am amazed that adobe wont release the patch or the information to fix it.
Countless hours by installers and techs must be spent on this trying to work around this issue.
If there is some genius Acrobat speciallist that can help I would be very grateful.
I have deleted everything on my system with a pro uninstaller and registry cleaner plus manual checks the has acrobat references.
The stupid program still stops and exits with the same annoying error ....ie it has found a more functional program and will exit ......"what the F*** is a more functional program" who at adobe thought of this genius bit of programming ....wow......
Anyway thats me done ..... I even tried Adobe telephone support but they are in some little island country somewhere and have noooooo idea.
