Restoring to the iCloud backup of your old iPad will restore you data and settings as well as your apps. Restoring to an iCloud backup has to be done in the initial setup process, which involves erasing your iPad. If you have any data on your iPad now that is not in the backup that you want to save you'll need to do that first. Then go to Settings>General>Reset and tap Erase All Content and Settings. You will then go through the setup screens as you did when the iPad was new. When given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup (see image below). Be sure you are connected to wifi and your charger as this will take some time to finish.

Can my apps with documents and info be transferred to new iPad if not cloud based?

Looking to purchase a new ipad for myself and want to bring ALL my current apps (no biggy) and documents on my current ipad over to the new one. Apps such as Quickoffice, Docscan, and Docusign Ink with multiple files need to be migrated to the new one. Is this possible without it being or residing in the cloud and how could I perform this? Can this be done in the Apple store when purchasing the new unit? I then want to restore the old ipad so I could set it up for my son.

I suggest doing this using iTunes on your computer. (But frankly, I cannot speak to whether iTunes would store all your third party documents, etc.) See the following reference document for what iTunes stores:

Get info pane doesn't show appropriate "more info" info

Hello. There's a problem on my "get info" pane, where normally there should be a "more info" column showing some information about "image size", "author", etc.
But recently, for example, an image file's "more info" column doesn't show its dimension and other info, only showing "title" and "last opened". And other things are simply gone.
Another example is MP3 files, normally there should be showing more metadata like "bitrate", "artist", "duration", etc. But now, it just shows the "title" and "last opened".
This really bugs me because I normally used to look at some info about these things sometimes when I need to check it out when doing some picture works. So basically the main problem is "more info" doesn't show information that I needed and which it should be there, but somehow there's a problem on Mac OS X that makes it failed to show them all out.
If anyone could tell me a way to fix it, I am very appreciated!! Thank you!!

Generally when the "More Info" section is nearly empty it is because the file in question has not been indexed by Spotlight. As to WHY it hasn't, that is a whole 'nother question, which you may be able to answer. Perhaps you have it stored somewhere that is excluded in the Spotlight Privacy pane, or on a drive where Spotlight is disabled, or in a folder where you don't have proper permissions... and so on.

Show inspector more info not working

I recently upgraded to Lion and I notice that when I use the "Show Inspector" to view information on multiple files with one Info window is not working properly. In Snow Leopard as I clicked on different image files the "More Info" section would show image sizes. Now in Lion it doesn't show anything but a line "-". As I click on different images it doesn't show anything in the "More Info" section. Can any body help me with this? Has this function changed some how in Lion?

I'll answer my own question then :-p
It seems that when you change the library view options to sort manually then you no longer get the information popup (which makes sense). Changing back to date or album view brought back the info.

Should I buy an iPad 2 or new iPad?

This will be my first iPad purchase and I'm torn between the two. I'll mostly be using it for browsing the Internet, watching shows from netflix or hulu & some games. I'm thinking that 16GB would be enough since I don't plan on putting much music or movies on the iPad, but after reading some reviews, it sounds like I may need more since Apps will be taking up more room to accommodate the new iPad's display. Now I'm torn between the new iPad vs. iPad2 and 16GB vs. 32GB. Another question I have is, does the iCloud store some music, downloads etc to clear up more space on the iPad? I'm also thinking if I buy the iPad2, I may get a refurbished one, has anyone had any problems with those? Who knew this decision could be so hard! Any input would be appreciated

You want to restore from the backup. Do not set up as new. You can read the article that Tom posted above, but it really is pretty simple.
Transfer any purchases from the old iPad into iTunes, backup the old iPad in iTunes and them sync one more time.
Connect the new iPad and when prompted during activation, restore from the backup that you just created and then sync with iTunes.
The new iPad should be identical to the old iPad, but you will have to enter some passwords again on the new device.

If I am understanding you correctly, you are unable to sign in on your device with your apple id?
If correct and you are getting a message password incorrect, appleid.apple.com reset your password is what you want.
You can chose either Email Authentication which sends you an email with a password reset link or Answer the security questions that you set up when creating the apple id.
If still having trouble then contact Apple Account Security.
However I am unable to understand what you stated about add new ipad etc

Transferring apps to new iPad?

Does anyone know if you can transfer your apps to the new iPad 2 from your iPad 1? They are downloaded on my computer so I don't see why not, but making sure before I buy the new iPad.

Make sure you have a current backup of your 1st gen iPad in iTunes. When you get your new iPad, do a Restore to the new iPad and most info installs to the new iPad. You may have to sync a few apps. Mine was pretty seamless in the process and my contacts copied over just fine (I didn't have any notes, so I can't speak to that).
The only thing - if I recall correctly - that does not transfer over is your passwords; you will have to enter them again - which makes sense for security reasons.

If the System Profiler application isn't in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder, the More Info button will be dimmed. Look for this application elsewhere on your hard disk; if it isn't on the hard disk, use Pacifist to extract it from your Mac OS X installation disks and then run the combo updater for your version of Mac OS X.

"more info" in Get Info showing "--" instead of actual infos for newer videos and images

I've just noticed that when I click on "Get Info" on my newer pictures and videos, the "more info" section is now showing "--" instead of the dimensions of the images and videos. However when I go to my older files, the info is showing. Also if I search any of the newer files (those with the missing info) in Spotlight, it doesn't show up. I've done some research and some people suggest reindexing Spotlight, but that never worked for me. In fact, even if I exclude a folder in my Privacy list, it's still showing as a result when I search them. I'm sure this is a problem with Spotlight as it stores the dimensions info, but since reindexing it is not a solution, can it be solved in some other way?

It takes time on newer things, but might have to be opened first or something.
If you want, you can clear the caches with OnyX (#12) and that would rebuild and repair the entire sub-system.

HT2589 My new ipad air will not download apps or ask for my itunes account info when I do try to download or purchase an app.

Just added the new ipad air to my itunes account. When I go to purchase or download apps it will not ask for my itunes account info, a grey box appears on my main screen with "waiting" under it and in the "app store" it will show the app that i chose with a constant spinning circle. Any ideas?

The iCloud account has nothing to do with downloading apps over wireless, but if you do not have an iCloud account you can delete that account information if you want to do so. Do you have other use of WiFi with the iPad? It is connecting and working correctly for email and such?
You could try going to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and then re-select the WiFi network and enter the password again...then do a reboot by holding both the power and home buttons until the apple logo appears, ignore the red slider if that appears.
All of that may clear problems of a minor nature.

Photostream in the cloud only keeps photos from the last 30 days (subject to a 1,000 photo limit). When photostream syncs the photos to your device they will stay there until deleted, which means you may well have more photos in your photostream album on your device than there are in photostream in the cloud.
The consequence of this is that if you turn photostream off and on again on your device (or enable it for the first time), it will only be populated with photos from the last 30 days, which may not be all the photos that were previously in the photostream album on that device.
