The goal would be to be charged only for usage as developers use PB on a VM. No more installing and more importantly farting about with licensing.
In my opinion and without prejudice, licensing has always been difficult; until now when it appears all but impossible...

New sap user creation

Hi All SAP experts,
My company has implemented 2 Systems SAP Landscape with one development and one production server which are running on R/3 Enterprise 4.7 (Kernel Release 6.20) with Microsoft SQL 2000 as database server.
I have the following questions regarding new sap user creation by using user copy function.
1.When I request to create new SAP User by using user copy function ,should I just create the user acct in DEV and transport it to PROD System? If yes, how could I do that?
2.When I request to create new SAP User by using user copy function, can I just create it on PROD System only? If yes, what is the impact?
3.When using User copy function to create new user acct, should I select all parts (like adress ,defaults,reference user, user groups.....) of the existing user to be cloned to new user acct?

Hi Leon,
Answer to your questions in their respective order:
1. You can create user in DEV and then make remote client copy to PRD system using scc9 t-code. Here you can choose user accounts and authorizations for the copy. ( Rem: Data will be overwritten in target system when copied).
You can also use client export/import(scc8/scc7)
But, When you do the client import from the exported files using STMS,you will have to select only one of the transport requests and then STMS automatically selects the other requests for you.
Then it will show you the different transport requests that you have created during your export, the client copy profile and the target system and client. The customizing and application data is deleted in the target client before copying for all profiles except SAP_USER. This is technically unavoidable (and hence the data will be overwritten).
So if you can afford overwritting of user data in target client , you can go with the above procedure.
2. Using user copy in su01, you can copy one user to another user only in that client and is confined to that system only. So yes, If you want 2 or more users to have same authorizations, profiles ,etc etc.. you can choose this in PROD system.
3. It depends.. If you want user to be in same group, then you can choose user groups. If you want them to have same authorizations , you can choose roles and profiles... If you want them to have same company address and others,... you can select address.. and so on.

Generate a new SAP mode maximized and active working with Excel or Word

Hello!
We have an event that it generates a new SAP mode in the desktop. This mode is generated ok (maximized and active) if the user is working in other SAP mode in this moment.
But this mode is generated minimized if the user is working with a Word or Excel Microsoft document in this moment.
We need to generate this new mode: ACTIVE and MAXIMIZED when the user is working wiht any non SAP tool in that moment. Is this possible??
We have checked the following functions module with failed results:
NAVIGATION_EXECUTE_OBJECT
ECATT_START_GUI_REMOTE
TH_CREATE_MODE

Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? (I'm having trouble determining from your "More system information" whether it's enabled or disabled.) Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If you restart Firefox, is the issue resolved?

I am using up to now Windows XP Home Edition. After some problems during installation I have read again the "recommendations" for using the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 ABAP Trial Version SP12. Furthermore I searched here in SDN for solutions which might be available regarding the problem I have.
The important fact is that this software is released only for the following operating systems:
Operating System: Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2) or Windows Server 2003.
(having a NTFS file structure etc.)
No other release is done (taking into account Windows Vista).
I have done an update to Microsoft Professional Edition but I have still some installation problems.

Up to now I have no idea why after installation of Windows XP Professional I have still the same problem.
The problem is exactly what is described in Sap Netweaver 2004 ABAP trial version com.sap.installshield.maxdb.maxdb...
But I have the feeling that my Windows XP Professional Installation was not correct (because there are some other problems around too)
So my recommendation to the description for downloading would be to highlight more this important recommendation of use of the ABAP trial version

How about "installment-plan" SAP Educaton in the newer SAP technologies ?

OK - so SAP wants more customers doing the new SAP advanced technologies.
If that's the case, SAP should want more folks out there who are qualified in these advanced technologies - BI, XI, WebD, etc.
So, why not offer SAP Education on the installment plan with a 5% interest-on-balance fee?

Your idea is probably correct, just it should not be SAP offering the loans. Instead SAP could partner with one or many of its banking customers to offer such type of "tuition assistance". SAP and the banking customer could decide how to compensate each other for the service.
This assume that SAP would want to try to market its courses to a larger audience. I will say one offering that definitely would get more exposure is making the full training catalog of course available through the virtual training offering. I'm still waiting for the CRM marketing class to be offered in such fashion.
The only drawback is that the classes still cost the almost the same regardless of delivery method.

Transfer GL Accounts to a new SAP System

I need to transfer G/L accounts to a new SAP system.
I am trying to use Data Transfer Workbench. I need to know do we create it in the Company Code from where I have to move the GL master data or in the target system.
One more question, after Extract GL Master Data file is generated-the next step is to create the spreadsheet file. I am not able to find where we do it.
All help is appreciated.

I am using the tcode SXDA. The next step as explained in the SAP R/3 documentation is Processing a file with spreadsheets. It done as follows:
Import the file using a spreadsheet program and set the columns to the data format Text.
Edit the file using the spreadsheet. You can enter your data manually or copy it from another spreadsheet file.
When you have finished editing the file, save it with the extension "txt".
But I am not able to figure out how to do that. If anyone knows, please explain little bit in more detail like how can I import the file using a spreadsheet program.

Are you talking about Web template bookmark or QueryDesigner bookmark?
If yes then in both the cases its is stored in your client machine as a browser favourite.This has nothing to do with HANA or BW system.So you can transfer browser favourite file from one system to other.
If you are talking about in anyother context please be precise and more elaborate .

ERROR: The new SAP tools in /usr/sap/DEV/EHPI/abap/exe cannot connect

Hi All.
I am attempting to upgrade my ECC 6.0 EPH3 system to EPH4.(System 'i' V6R1M1) I am hitting an error on phase PREP_INIT/CHECKPROF_INI which states 'ERROR: The new SAP tools in /usr/sap/DEV/EHPI/abap/exe cannot connect to your database.' The log file /usr/sap/DEV/EHPI/abap/log/DBCONNCHK.LOG contains more details about the failure.
At this point I see the processes has created to additional kernel libraries: SAPDEV70UP and SAPDEV70U2
I am logged on as DEVOFR per the documentation. DEVOFR is the owner of all objects in /usr/sap/DEV/EPHI.
Here is the error from DBCONNCHK.LOG :

a new SAP NW AS ABAP 7.01 SP03 version with the Standard SAPINST installer (note: the "trial version" is beta!) and optimzed single user memory consumption (~2GB pagefile) is available for testing purposes.
NOTE: The installation step "LOAD DATABASE" may take up to 8h depending on your harddisk (1h on a fast disk). Next release will install faster.
Recommended: Use Download Manager

I have installed the Microsoft loopback adaptor, and I still got asked for a DNS entry. However I've unchecked it and continued...
After now several attempts at installing and uninstalling and trying again, I got this on the last attempt - this was after starting a new installation and choosing the 'copy to a new folder' option rather than continuing with the former installation... Show more than 5 SAP Roles in UI

Dear SAP Community,
our IDM Demo System works fine.
We impelmented a couple of web tasks.
Now the customer wants to see more than 5 SAP Roles in the UI when he requests new Roles for an User.
The URL generated by the IDM is:

Does anybody knows where to configure this?

thanks for your posting.
I´ve changed the value form 5 to 10 after cahnging the identity store schema attribute MX_PRIVILEGE_TYPE
into multi value. If i check the settings after that, the setting "10" is set now.
In my Web Task in the presentantion setting (task specific) i find the value set to "5" like before.
I´ve waited a time checked again ....but the value is set to "5" like before.
After rebooting my Java Stack and IDM there has nothing changed.
The global setting MX_PRIVILEGE_TYPE is 10 in a row.....the web task setting is 5.....
Can anybody tell me how to fix this?

Is E65 more stable than a MICROSOFT phone?

When I bought my phone I wanted a phone with more funcinalities than a convetional one (email, Internet, 3G, GPS software, etc) so I had two possibilites:
1.- Buy a phone based on Microsoft OS (such HTC, Imate, etc)
2.- Buy a Nokia phone based in SYMBIAN.
I decided to go to a NOKIA because I thougt that it was going to be more stable than the Microsoft BUT now I can see that it is not true.
My first E65 has the keypad with the light broken. I changed it and got a new one. Now it´s reboot a couple of times a day (somedays up to 4 times). Sometimes it reboot without reason (the phone over the table) and other times it makes when I´m in a call. In NOKIA service they told me to disconet the 3g, but it doesn´t help to solve the problem.
Other times, the Explorer close alone when I´m in internet (I heared that the phone gets without memore and has to close the program, Stupid!!!).
My friends with MICROSOFT have some problems, but they are less than the NOKIA and NEVER has the phone hung during a call!!!.
I hope the problem to be solved by a firmware version but we have to wait NOKIA to decide that the phone has problems.....

Which firmwar version do you have?. I have the 1.0633.18.01. RM-208. Perhaps the problem is a firmware version.
My phone reboot automacally and it makes a lot of times during a call. That is very frustating. I´ve heared in other forums and in this forum that those stability problems are common in this phone.
There could be 3 reason for the problem:
1.- Firmware problem: Very easy to solve by Nokia. I believe that it is the cause of the problem (too many posts with stability problem to a hard problem)
2.- Hardware bug of this model: That is imposible to solve. The doubt is that there are people that don´t have any problem (as you).
3.- Hardware problem in this unit: If it is the cause I have to send it to NOKIA and be without my bussines phone for 20 days. That´s mean no blackberry mail, no contact (I have almost 1000 and there isn´t any tradicional phone or SIM that support that amount...)
In the past I had a Imate SP3 with windows and didn´t had any problem with it (some times it makes strange but never interrumped me a call).
So everybody can see that I´m "very happy" with this phone...
PLEASE, NOKIA, PUBLISH NEW FIRMWARE FOR THE PHONE THAT SOLVE PROBLEMS.

Invasive Bamboo has just updated Block Breaker and Block Breaker Lite for the Pre and Pixi. Both versions have all new challenges and updated levels. The free version now includes ten levels to try!
New Features
Internationalized - The program now supports German, Spanish, and French translations.
Half-Size Bricks - Some levels now feature half-width bricks. This allowed us to make many of the levels more interesting and introduce some new challenges the previous version didn't allow us to have. [B]Moving Bricks[/B] - Animated bricks are now featured in many of the levels.
Micro/Mega Ball - This new power-up grows or shrinks the ball for extra challenges.
Death - A new rare instant death power-up has been introduced. You'll see it more when the bosses are introduced next update.
Star Field Background - The background screen now has a new animated star field scene.
Updated Levels - Every level was reviewed multiple times and many were replaced with new challenges.
Updated Collision - The code that handled the collision between the ball and bricks has been updated and fixes some of the problems of the previous version.
Updated Tilt Control - Tilt has been updated to give a cleaner and smoother experience when using tilt instead of a finger.
Lag - Now that version 1.4.1 of WebOS has been released, Palm has finally given us a way to remove the lag that was noticeable in some of the previous versions.
