  • Topics marked with correct answer icon?

I recently opened ASC on my old 10/4/11 G3/400 running the older Firefox 3.6 (soon to meet its EOL.) I hardly ever do this since the new format uses close to 100% CPU and is incredibly slow on that computer. I was surprised to see that at least one topic, one I started and answered myself, had a "correct answer" icon; maybe it was a little check mark, similar to the way the old format used to show "Solved."
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3480570?tstart=0
I've never seen this icon next to any topic with my newer Firefox, on the newer Mac (maybe not even when I was still using 3.6.) I simply assumed this feature had been removed with the latest incarnation of Discussions. I think now I should be seeing this. It would be helpful to know if a question has been solved, and wonder why I'm not seeing it or if others are.

I always see a white checkmark in a green circle when an answer has been solved (marked correct by the questioner).  It shows up in the list of discussions, in the "more like this" box, and I think on my view page where "my stuff" is listed.  I think it has always been there in ASC.  And I have been using Firefox since the new ASC format came in.   I agree it is very helpful to know if a question has been solved.  It has helped me find solutions or answers when I have a question so that I don't have to repost it.  Or is that now what you are asking about?

  • Is it me? Or couldn't the "More Like This" links be improved?

I already sent feedback to Apple on this.
But I have noticed that links in the "More Like This" section isn't that useful as they are not completely and always related to the subject at hand. Don't you think it can be indexed a little better?
I know it might be pointless even writing this, but I was wondering if it was just me or if anyone else has been running into this problem.

I was responding to this from the  OP
"SIM=Failure/Invalid SIM" huh? That's what shows up. Messed up programming.
and explaining why that was in the more like this box.  Not all searches in any database turn up what we would like but it is a It is a valid hit for his question.
As I wrote I was not defending the search here in fact one of my first posts way back when was asking about the lack of decent search. What  I was told then and what I tell posters now is to use Google and restrict the search to ASC. You'll get much better results.

  • I have inadvertently infringe copyright on facebook and they have subsequently barred me from uploading any more videos. The question I need answered is ( and not able to find the answer on any of you help pages).....  Do the following have free copyright

I have inadvertently infringe copyright on facebook and they have subsequently barred me from uploading any more videos.
The question I need answered is ( and not able to find the answer on any of you help pages).....
Do the following have free copyright to publish on facebook and U Tube?
    1.Garage band sounds?
2.Slide show...Sample music and Theme music?
3.iMovie...iMovie sounds and iLife sounds ie.Medal Ceremony and Memorial etc?
I note one can publish to shared net places directly from iMovie so one assumes these are copyright free for non-profit making and non-comercial use.
It is impossible to contact apple direct. No email address. We put our selves at risk without this knowledge and like applemac, facebook will not communicate direct. Will applemac please take responsibility for copyright/the above that they are all too willing to sell to us but not support us with that knowledge.
I have Mac OS X Snow Leopard version 10.6.2 (2009 bought in 2010)

Thank you Klaus1.The large font, I copied and pasted from my mail box.I'm visually impaired...not to a huge degree but it helps to use the large font.I believe you are right about the copyright on the imac stuff but if facebook decide otherwise, you have to reply electronically to their challenge. If you can't provide a reference directly from the copyright owner then they remove the video.I believe this is a programmed response and no human is involved which now makes it impossible for me to get my video uploading restored. They detect added soundtrack automatically and then challenge. There are many others in the same boat and facebook will not communicate. They have various discussion sites on which I have left messages including Mark Zuckerbergs own facebook but I don't think anyone from facebook ever reads them.I intend to start a second facebook which I can use purely to get my videos uploaded as a lot of my friends enjoy them BUT don't want fall foul of their programming again. If only iMac would put something on the net to this effect.I think it is so unfair that with modern technology it is impossible to contact these large conglomerates personally and receive an email response.I tried emailing [email protected] but I got a failure notice. If you have any ideas on how to get verification from apple direct, I would be very grateful.Thank You.

  • More Like This no more?

For a while now, the "More Like This" section doesn't seem to be very helpul. Many posts (most for new questions) don't have any suggestions at all. This is especially strange as when you input the question in the search field, plenty of related discussions are found.
For the minority that has suggestions listed, they don't seem to be very appropriate. Almost as if just a single word was picked from the question and that's what the suggestions were based on.
The More Like This list used to be very useful in referring people to the right area and oft-discussed topics. What happened? Did Apple change the search logarithm that doesn't work, or are they in the process of transitioning to something better ,and this is just a temporary condition?

I answered a post a few minutes ago illustrating exactly why 'more like this' will be a facility we shall miss.   And on another section I noticed a 'more like this' that was totally out of sync with the subject matter.
There's no rhyme or reason to it and hopefully someone higher up will take notice.
One other benefit is that he who posts a question will then be presented with many pertinent and alternate viewpoints that can resolve the problem even when his original post has not been responded to.

  • Why doesn't the "more like this" section offer suggestions anymore in the netflix app?

In the netflix app there is an area labeled "More like this" and it usually show suggestions of other movies.  After the last ATV update, it just shows "More like this..." but it doesn't show any movie suggestions.  When I spoke with netflix, they said the problem was with Apple since they design the netflix app.

I would also like to know why the suggestions are missing.  It seems to work when you select movies outside netflix.

  • ITunes Radio-Play more like this

IS it possible to select 'play more like this' or 'never play again' with the volume controller, without asking Siri?

I know this isn't right but you can ask her to do that if you want to.

  • More like this?  Bwhahaha.

The "More Like This" on the right side need to be fine-tuned to only give useful posts. At the very least, posts that are recent and have solved answers should start the list.
    I keep seeing this post
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/8334632#8334632
which is from 2008, is unsolved, and has no replies. It really shouldn't be at the top of the "More Like This" list for questions regarding moving itunes libraries.

Notice that 3 out of the 5 items in the More Like This widget lead to topics in the Lounge which are not viewable by the vast majority of members.
And, I see the same 5 links whether I'm logged in or not (which, I'm pretty sure, means that everyone sees them).
When I am not logged in and click on those Lounge-bound links, I hit two login pages and one redirect loop error page. Who knows what logged in L1-5 members see when they try those links? Three redirect loop error pages? They certainly never get to see the Lounge topics....
Beyond this, I've actually been surprised at how relevant most of the items in the More Like This widget have been.

  • Where can I find all the songs under Play More Like This?

I accidentally made another station that I already had, I was listening and found a song that I liked. I listed it under Play More Like This, after I noticed I had recreated the same station I deleted the newer station. As I looked for the song this morning, I could not find it under my play history and of course I could not view the Play More Like This on iTunes from computer under the station it was played hence it was deleted. If there is any help for this, it would be greatly appreciated.

When you upload files to MDS using the ant script it overrides the existing files with the same name.
If you want to remove resources from MDS using ant you can use the the removeSharedData target in the ant-sca-deploy,xml ant file.

  • HT5848 Cannot tap "play more like this" or "never play this again"!

On my iPhone 5 in the iTunes Radio page when I tap on the star I cannot tap the options to "play more like this" or to "never play this again". Is anyone else having this problem/can someone help me out? Thanks!!

I have this same problem; however, I've always ONLY been able to "play more like this" on the PRESET stations; otherwise, how could you have any 'new music' to select that you may want to hear more songs like the one you just heard and 'play more like this."  If you could only choose your OWN music to "play more like this," it doesn't make sense why you would choose your own music?
So, I've been able to choose  "play more like this," ONLY on the preset stations, but sometimes they are grayed out and I cannot select that option.

  • HT1911 I am not answering the security question with the answer APL wants.  What do I do?

I am not answering the security question with the answers APL wants.  What do I need to do to get past the security questions to reset my password?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Hold Power and Home buttons for 10 seconds until your iPad restarts, and you will be able to use it again. After doing this, open Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup, and make a manual backup

  • Why doesn't my iTunes Radio give me the option to customize stations using "play more like this" and "never play this" in the star menu?

Why doesn't my iTunes Radio give me the option to customize stations using "play more like this" and "never play this" in the star menu?

You can only "play more like this" on your custom stations. The pre-programmed ones cannot be altered, at least to my understanding

  • HT5848 Max more like this on iTunes Radio?

Is there a max number of "play more like this" options you can add? I have about 50 and now the station won't play.

Same problem, although my list wasn't even 50 long.  Like about 30, and the station stopped playing.  I could back some out, but I don't even know how many is necessary.  And just deleting and retrying is 1) tedious, and 2) not guaranteed to work.  iTunes was all messed up and wouldn't play ANY station properly when it first happened.
Not even restarting iTunes helped.  I had to REBOOT, for cryin' out loud!  But that still only permitted my other stations to work.
Removing one artist at a time might also require restarting iTunes, or even rebooting, just to test the limit.
Not cool, Apple.  I'm not wasting my time doing that.
If there is a limit, the "+" button should grey out or even disappear when you get to the limit...

  • Able to advance past question with wrong answer

The following applies to a multiple choice question in Captivate 3.0.1 Build 589. You are able to advance through a question even if you have selected the wrong answer by doing the following:
Answer a question incorrectly. A box saying "Try Again" pops up.
Press the previous button on the Captivate navigation bar to go to the previous slide.
Press the next button on the Captivate navigation bar to advance to the question slide. The incorrect answer is still selected.
Press the next button on the Captivate navigation bar while the incorrect answer is still selected.
Captivate advances, even though you have not answered the question correctly.
This is a major issue for me for two reasons. A) It allows learners to advance without demonstrating that they learned what we are trying to teach them, and B) It actually misinforms learners by letting them advance with the wrong answer selected, so they may actually believe that what they answered is correct.
Does anyone else have this problem? Anyone have any ideas how I can fix it?
Thanks very much for your help,
    Marc

    Marc,
Do you know what wrong answer options you have selected? If you do not want the user to advance when they select a wrong answer, you can make sure they do not. On the question slides of interest, go to Edit Question. Select Options. Under "If wrong answer" section, select Infinite attempts. Now the user will not be able to advance until he/she gets the answer correct. The only side note on this is the user will get the Incorrect Answer message only one time. After that there are no response message until the correct answer is chosen. Hope this helps.
