More phones on one Itunes account?

Can I add more than one individual Iphone on one Itunes account? I need to set up my wife's New phone, and I don't see how to set up an individual account for her phone on my account.

1) authorize iTunes on the new machine for your iTunes store account(s)
2) connect your device and right-click or control-click it in the iTunes Source list, then choose transfer purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
3) sync the device
iTunes will wipe the iPhone but, since you transferred your purchases in the previous step, your content will be in your library and you can re-populate the iPhone with it.

Can you back up two phones on one itunes account?

I have just purchased an iPhone5s and want to transfer all of my information from my iPhone4s onto it. I was told that this could be done by first backing up my phone using itunes. Sounded simple.
Now i am having great difficulties!
My wife nacked up her phone earlier this year. Every time i go to back up my phone (turning on itunes and then plugging my phone in via usb) it comes up with two options - set up as a new iphone OR restore from my wife's phone.
I am really unsure what to do here. I fear losing all the data on my phone.
Is it possible for the one itunes account to back-up two phones?

Select setup as "New", the next screen should prompt you to rename your phone. Just name it what you already have it named. After that, you should be able to sync/backup and all of your data & settings will still be exactly as you've already set them up on your phone. That message is more threatening than what really happens.

Yes, use separate iCloud accounts. You can still share the same ID for purchases though, or use Family Share for purchases.

Separating two phones on one iTunes account

My wife and I have iPhone 4s. During the back up, we have encountered a problem with cross mingling our contacts, apps, etc.
Ideally, I would like to create a separate iTunes account for her so our phone info doesn't get merged.
If I create an account for her, would I be able to keep things separate?
Both phones have been activated on my account. Would this be a problem?

As apps can only be used with the account they were bought with, the easiest way to keep your data separate would be creating a new user on your computer, log in, set up your iTunes account.
Disable autosync in iTunes/settings/devices and connect the phone. Set up at least one contact and event on the computer, to be able to merge contacts after the phone got erased during the first sync, due to the new iTunes library.
Right click on the phone in the device list and choose "transfer purchases" to copy apps and other media to the new iTunes library.
After that choose "backup" instead to back up manually.

Yes. I would clarify your statement about the "shared" iTunes Library though. If you want each iOS device to have its own music library, you should create separate user accounts for them. Read:

You'll need to create an Apple ID for each device. Use the new Apple ID for FaceTime, iMessage and iCloud on the device. Use the original Apple ID for Settings>iTunes & App Store.

iTunes Match is not sharable across Apple IDs. The best way to get the music on her iPad is to leave hers signed into her Apple ID on the iTunes Store and sync via USB.
