More Simpletech EHD Problems!
So, I posted about 4 months ago or so regarding my mac not reading my external hard drive.
I tried repairing the disk through disk utility, and this is what it said:

This is frightening, especially since my entire music and picture libraries are stored on this drive.

It sounds like your EHD has errors that are more serious then Disk Utility can repair.
I personally don't know of any tools to repair FAT files systems which your error message indicate you are using. My suggestion would be backup up as much of the files that have not been corrupted yet. Then reformat to HFS+ and restore what files you are able to salvage.

Do white new iPad's have more light bleed problems?
I have exchanged 3 white 64GB wifi only new iPad's and will be exchanging for my 4th one today. are there more light bleed problems with white iPad's? I don't know how many times i will have to exchange until I get a good one. can someone show me of a white ipad that has no defects what so ever.
I just want to mention that if the DSL light isn't on, it is definitely the phone line, however it is not always the provider's fault. Remember they are responsible for the line from the pole to the house, but not the inside wiring. If your phone line is unplugged from the jack, the DSL light will not be on. To be sure that it is SBC's fault, go and test the connection at the d-marc box outside the house.
Take your laptop, your modem and a phone line and plug it in out there. If you don't get the DSL light, it is definitely their problem. If you do outside, but not in the house, and you call them out, you will get charged for the service call.
Also the built in ethernet cards, more commonly referred to as airport cards, are not really delicate per se, but the wire for the antennae connection is most definitely. Only if you removed yours which you would have to if you wanted to add RAM, would you have any reason to be concerned about possibly damaging it. SBC telephone tech support is always showing off their lack of knowledge. -
I just recently upgraded to Snow Leopard and everything has been running fine. I have a SimpleTech EHD that I have been using for a year now, with 2 partitions, one for Time Machine and another for storage.
As of right now, my MacBook Pro only reads the Backup (Time Machine) partition and not the storage, which contains my entire iTunes library, among other important things. This is strange to me, especially since it worked fine right after the upgrade.
The only issue I had after upgrading was that Spotlight was indexing my Storage partition for many many hours. I left it to do its job and when I returned to find it finished, the Storage partition disappeared.
I already tried Verifying and Repairing the disk, with an error both times:

More DVD Audio Problems! Help!
This is the same problem as mentioned before in "dvd audio compatibility". I'm getting a lot of customers coming back with the same problem, and they're all using coax to connect their televisions to their dvd players. Problem is, not everyone has RCA jacks available to them. How should I be encoding these videos in Encore 2.0 to avoid this problem? By default they're all going into Dolby digital 2.0. For the past 2 years, I've used Encore 1, and never had this problem.
What should I be doing in Encore 2?

It sounds to me as if there is something much more fundamentally wrong here. ALL your customers should be perfectly okay using CoAxial outputs from their DVD players. It is only DVD-Audio (a completely different format) that has this issue with needing RCA type jacks.
DVD-Video should be perfectly okay outputting via CoAxial cables to a suitable Dolby Digital Decoder.
These people who are missing audio - are they attempting to decode the Dolby Digital stream internally in their players? My guess (and thisis a guess without detailed info) is that they have simply not got their systems set up correctly. Sadly, this is all too common as most end users will never go into the setup pages and will just leave everything at factory defaults (which are rarely ideal)
When we are talking about CoAx connections, are we talking CoAxial Digital Audio connections here, or CoAx TV (RF type) connections? There is a huge difference. -
Hello again. I have another problem with my macbook pro, in addition to the previous one that nobody was able to help me with.
I have gotten to the point where I turn on my mac, go to my main user, and there would only be a blue screen without any icons or my background loading. I have reset in single user mode and tried a few things, and mainly all I can accomplish is getting the log in screen to come up so that I can get to another user. I just logged into another user, and it turns out that my computer is now reading 75 GB of free space. So, if I have done steps 5-8 on this site: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=106464, does that mean that not only is my harddrive entirely deletyed, but I cannot get the computer to still work?
I can't believe how unreliable this computer has been. I should not be dealing with this, and yet I am having more trouble with this Mac than any windows computer I have owned. I would like to mention that I have little 3rd party software, adn have no hacks.Have you taken it in for repair? Perhaps that is what you need to do especially if it's still in warranty. I think this is your best course of action because it's apparent from your post that you don't really know what you are doing as far as "fixing" it is concerned.

I have tried renaming the feed and simplifying the feed address all to no avail. I must have tried more than 150 times since last Friday!
I see from this forum that I'm not the only one having problems. I've submitted feeds before with no problems, so does anyone know how I can get support for this as it's driving me nuts!

I have set my client up with Reinvented Software's Feeder application to generate the feed and it validates and works fine when I subscribe to it manually.
I notice many of you are trying to submit new podcasts as well; I wonder if that has anything to do with this? -
Alright, This is great, how many more problems could this computer possibly have?
My CD Rom drive is messed up now. About a week ago, it decided it didn't want to burn a CD with more then 6 songs on it via iTunes. I called Apple Care, we deleted Caches, Pref files, Archive Install, and maybe something else. Problem was temporary solved. I tried to burn a CD again today, it fit the requirements and everything. It gives me (somethign along the lines of) this error:
"The Burning failed because the write speed is too fast for the disc drive or the media, try lowering the speed"
I have. I've gone down to 2x, and up to 16x or whatever it says, and Maximum Possible. In this past week I've wasted about 15 or so CD's. They are Memorex 52x CD-R's. I've been using them forever, and up until now I've never had a problem. I've even tried burning on some Target brand cd's and got the same result.
I can do a "drag and drop" burn on the desktop, but that doesn't really help me because I want an audio CD.
I was just able to burn a 6 song CD, but not a 15 song CD.
Someone help me, I'm about to shove a screwdriver through this computer.Hi there,
I have used Memorex brand only once, it burned 'successfully' but would not pplay on a CD player, however, it did play on a PC with iTunes... so I stopped using Memorex and switched to TDK's and haven't been disappointed...

Booting up recently everything looked fine for the first few seconds, but as the login window was about to show up, I only got a few colored pixels outlining the Apple logo, and sometimes a large white box where the cursor should be.
At the same time, Running BootCamp my Vista started experiencing a problem with the Nvidia display driver, where the screen freezes and then Vista raports that the system has successfully recovered from a driver problem.
Neither Apples own hardware diagnostic tests at startup, nor Disk Utility when I run the 24" in TDM, reports anything wrong. I did not install any new software or hardware prior to the problems started.You'll need to tell us more about the setup and function, but it sounds like you need to download and use the standalone installer.

Besides the missing color profiles in Adobe InDesign CS3, I found another problem:
Printed a file from InDesign CS3 that printed just fine before Snow Leopard. Now, There is a 6 point by 6 inch white horizontal rule right in the middle of the page that should not be there.

In addition to the problems with my new computer, when I plug my iPod into my old computer, it will not let me access the songs I have downloaded recently, saying that the machine is not authorized even though that was the machine that I used to download them. How can I correct this?

Last night when I attempted to solve this I got this at the end of the startup process

On x86 based computers, floopy disks generated by setup for non CD installations are not suitable for installing from CD

then a 2nd screen with a red progress meter appears saying that the computer will reboot in 15 seconds then it reboots with the same message going in an infinite loop.

also I think one of the reasons why I'm having this problem is that not only are the two optical drives are are on the Primary Master & Slave channel
but the BIOS indicates that there are 3 more Master\Slave channels as well and the HD's are on the 3rd one
again I truly appreciate this forum trying to be the Tech support that I'm not getting with the builder.
I'm truly sorry about this as well but at least I'm learning in the same way that I did with the other computers I've had since 1994.

More Airport Express Problems - its those flashing lights
I bought mine earlier in the year & eventually got it to work with my itunes. I had a problem today and ending up loading the latest firmware and then resetting. Now I'm back to square one. Flashing yellow lights - hard resets - error messages. Having gone through the set up I get the error message
"Airport utility was unable to find your apple device after restarting. The settings for this apple wireless device have been successfully updated, but there was a problem re-joining to wireless network or finding the apple wireless device. You may need to select your network in Manage Network Connections and try again"
I'm no PC wizz and I can't recall now how I fixed it the first time - probably more luck than judgement but I'm mega frustrated today. Anyone know their way round this? Does FICO Score matter more than Credit Problems?
As some of you may know I've been looking to trade-in my six month old Hyundai Accent. My pulled score (FICO Experian Auto 8) is now 649. It will go back up once new credit card balances are reported, right now it's 96%, it will be down to 8-9% by the middle of the month. I still have one charge-off ($434), one open collection ($407) and a repo (that isn't true but whatever) from 2009. I also have some school loan lates from 2009; but nobody has mentioned that being a problem. One dealer in particular believed that the repo was serious despite it being almost seven years ago and had me write a note to the underwriter explaining what happen. I didn't even have to do this when I bought the Hyundai, I find this bizarre and possibly racial motivated. I based that on some recent articles and also on Honda's recent fine of $25 Million for predatory lending practices on women and minorities. Whenever I am face to face with a dealer negotiations start at MSRP. One dealer in-fact begged me to come to his store and he would sell to me way under invoice. When I got there, he claimed to have a problem with his system and could only pull TU which is my second highest score at 589. He demaned I pay MSRP for the car and to put $3,000 down as he couldn't push it through Ford he would have to use CPS or something. This is on the back of when I bought the Hyundai I was initally told I would be approved by Hyundai but then was told I was approved only by Gateway One, when it turns out Hyundai would have accepted the deal if I could verify some information as I've had problems with my TU (listed as deceased). I was hoping to take advantage of Hyundai's 90 days no payment (yes I know you still pay interest...) which would have allowed me to start my emergency fund for one thing. I am almost out of this hole, my repo drops off in July 2016 and I will try to get it to come off sooner sometime after the first of the year. I could also offer First Premier PFD but I heard that it won't be accepted. Midland says it won't PFD when it has for some people. So basically I am at where I am at. My score will continue to improve as I keep utilization down and keep paying on-time. Will having a 670 Fico (660 Fico Auto 8) matter more in credit decisions than old negative information? Experian will get there first, I don't know whats holding back TU and EQ, there's less information on there, especially EQ but lower scores.

Just wait until it's gone, it will change the game, Current interest rate is 18.65% I've made all the payments on-time, of course I am under water. but.... Because my plates/fees and sales tax were not rolled into the loan like it typically is, I owe less than most people do in a similar situation. If I get fair market value for the car, it owe just over $3,000 of negative balance. Nobody asked for income verification accept on the credit app I did online; I didn't submit pay stubs or anything else. I know there are tiers to lending, reportedly I was Tier 4 asking for $30,000+. Whenever I asked what sort of downpayment they wanted, one dealer said about $6,000; DING, DING, DING, DING! Further investigation the same dealer said about $26,000 OTD. So now we're in his life or death struggle -
I want highest trade value and the lowest price. Most dealers just won't walk the plank for that; maybe if I catch a few at the end of the month as they aren't meeting sales targets, it's possible they'll take that lost but most of the time.... I got a letter from Ford Credit late last week, they denied me but didn't say why. This was interesting, so I called Ford Credit today and they are going to send me a letter stating why. The lady on the phone said usually these types of denials are conditional, IE the deal needs to be constructed a certain way, down or less money/less car, etc. This further cements that Ford feels most comfortable at $26,000.
Any more than that I have to start putting down money. I am trying to avoid that for various reasons. I know Ford pulls EX which happens to me my highest score, it peaked at 657 (Auto 8 654) at the start of his mess which is a bit complicated. Above I mentioned I wasn't charged taxes or license fees up front. I paid those later, in fact I spent the last month paying those ($1878) including a smog test. So while most of you pay over time. I paid mine up front.... The byproduct of that was constantly using my credit cards, they are all maxed out now. I will spend the rest of August paying those down to 8-9% not a big deal. My current LTV is 89%.... I have checked LTV at various times, its under 100%. My payment is about 22% of income and I can easily afford it even with the elevated interest rate. I don't mind rolling the negative I have other things I wanna do with my cash. I've done the math, I can get what I want and still have roughly the same payment. WIth all the incentives I can get, even the optional ones, it's knocking another $2,500 off the price and that's if I don't take Ford financing. if I do, that's an additional $750 for $3250 When my credit cards update and depending on what that Ford Credit letter says will determine what and when I try this again. I can really use the 90 day payment delay they are offering right now.
My EX Score should hit 660-670 with ease with the balances below 9% Waiting until it's gone (Repo) won't make much difference, no changes for the 2016 except Sync 3 and Google Auto. The updates come for the '15 model year (suspension tweaks, electric power steering tweaks and minor sheet metal changes with new tail lights). I also won't spend much more than what's being bandied about now. -
Yet another, more difficult palindrome problem

I also have a Palindrome problem! For this problem, we are given a string and we have to print out all the possible palindromes of all the subsets of this string, in order.
For example, given "ab", the set of subsets would be {a, ab, b, ba} and we'd have to print out:
a
aa
aba
abba
b
baab
bab
bb
Each substring has 2 palindromes (i.e. abc has palindromes abcba and abccba).
I know we can easily generate all the substrings and all the palindromes and then just sort it. However, for a string of 8 characters, we're required to print out all the palindromes in 3.2 seconds! (If the 8 characters are unique, that's over 200,000 lines!).
Any ideas on how to go about this? Is there an elegant recursive solution for this? Would using an ArrayList slow down my program? Is there a faster way to print things?

it from 13 seconds to 7 seconds, but it's still too
slow (i need it to be faster than 3.2 seconds).

I have to be a bit stupid, but I don't understand the rules. You say:
