More Slide Show Options

The Slideshow feature needs two additional options for it to be useful:
(1) It would be nice if the slide show feature had an option to export the images in the format I set up for the show. That way I could then import them into any other display program with details like shooting information, etc.
(2) Have a "Presentation" feature where I can step through the images in a slide show instead of having them advance at a fixed interval. It would be really nice if I could still set the fade time between the images to give it a "professional" touch.

Requested very often.

Slideshow is available in the Photos app on iOS 7 for phones (for info this is the Using iPad forum). Open a photo in the Photos app, then tap the 'share' icon botton left (the square with the upward pointing arrow), then tap Next top right, and on the popup tap Slideshow and the slideshow should start from the picture that you selected

PSE8 for Mac. Where is the slide show option in the Mac version?

I just watched an Adobe TV video on how to do a slide show in PSE8, but when I go to my CREATE tab, the only slide show option is "PDF Slide Show" and when I click it, it bounces me back to Adobe Bridge and gives me a very limited set of Playback options and then produces a PDF document and not a slide show. Where is the Create Slide Show in the Mac version of PSE8?

The not-so-satisfactory answer is that, that's all there is: the pdf slideshow file is output from Bridge and plays (in my case) with Adobe Acrobat. That is, Adobe Reader will also open the pdf and play / progress at whatever time interval is selected with the Bridge pdf maker controls.
I agree: that you have to start by selecting the pdf creation in Pse 8 -which then bounces you to Bridge - is quite unintuitive. I'm just supposing that, since Bridge is literally the "bridge" to this process, it made sense to follow this logic when creating the Pse / Bridge software.

Slide Show option in Pages?

I'm a high school teacher who currently uses AppleWorks because it has the slide show feature which is most helpful and easier for me than converting everything to Keynote.
Is there an option in Pages similar to the slide show feature in AppleWorks? If not, is there a third party app out there?

What exactly is it that you need your program to do.
I know there may be a learning curve attached with reverting to keynote, but unless there is a specific need for remaining modern, you can still use Appleworks to do your slideshows.
If it is a more pressing concern to update your collection, post in the Keynote and Appleworks forums to ask if there is an easier way to convert things to Keynote.
Someone may have a solution that does not involve another program.

Slide show options in elements 13

Having used Elements 13 for some weeks I am generally satisfied with it. I run the 64 bit version, and it seems a bit quicker than the former version. I have around 40 000 pictures in my catalog. But the slide show has no other options than choosing among 5 ready-made versions. I do not like the panning and zooming and overlapping, it would be better if I could control these features myself. Is it possible to override all these features ant take control myself?

No, at least for now there is nothing but the templates. You'll have to use something else if you don't want to use those.

Lost slide show option

I upgraded to a new SSD by cloning the existing HD using the app that came with the SSD. Now my desktop background slideshow has disappeared. The option for slideshow has become gray. There was a warning on the cloning app to close all open files. I did
not turn off the slide show so that must have been the source of the problem. Is there a way to recover the desktop background slideshow feature?

This is a very common occurrence using such 3rd party "cloning" utilities and it is virtually impossible to pinpoint what happened to cause you to lose your slide show.
Microsoft cannot tell what happened because you used a 3rd party utility and the publisher of that utility has sole responsibility for support of it.
I see this type of complaint quite often with all the 3rd party utilities claiming to clone from and HDD to an SSD.
The best solution is to use Windows Easy Transfer on your old HDD, do a clean install of Windows 7 on the SSD, and then use the Windows Easy Transfer to import your data from your old HDD.

IMac won't let me make any more slide shows in iPhoto. I have 35. Is there a limit?

I have been making slide shows on my iMac for years and all of a sudden when I go through the procedure, the newly named show doesn't show up in the list of slide shows. I can still make albums, but not slide shows. What's the deal? I have made 35 slide shows. Is there a limit?

Did you resolve this? Would reinstalling iPhoto correct the problem? If I try to reinstall would I lose all my photos etc.

Slide Show option in Elements 11

Slide show options

I have about 30,000 images that I'd like to place into a slide show, either in System Preferences, or if applicapable, iPhoto. I have tried to set up in System Preferences, but there is repetition and it seems like the slide show starts all over after going into active content, then back into screen saver mode. What I am looking for is an app that will display a RANDOM show, everytime it goes into screen saver mode, and will rotate throughout this massive collection. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Better slide show options iWeb 08 ?

In iWeb 06 I used to manipulate the slideshow assets folder to use slideshows that were better (in my opinion) than the standard iWeb option. Can someone point me in the direction to do this in iWeb 08?
I really do not like how small the slideshow images are (even if I click the "full screen" option) in iWeb 08... it makes the whole slideshow full screen but the images are still relatively tiny in the middle of the screen. On a 23" monitor this is not a big deal but on a laptop or similar the images are way too small.
I like all the other aspects of the iWeb 08 slideshow but wish the photos would render in full screen or at least larger than the current version...

iweb photos page and slideshow is javascript/AJAX driven, so no longer can you manipulate Slideshow_assets folder.
But that does not mean it is impossible, but you need to know javascript, DOM, iweb generated code and slideshow code (they are all different).

the above are all javascript/AJAX, I intentionally left the 'Play Slideshow' so you can see it's iweb2 photos page and am working on Couloir slideshow (yup, Couloir)
Note: easy with those slideshows, they need time to process... because they take two pass to process, first iweb javascript, second my javascript. So wait a bit for thing to settle.

More slide show problems

I can't get Go Live's SlideShow to work properly! I have followed the directions described on the recent post (which seemed to work for that person) but the function will not work for me. Is there any advice on settings in the inspector or something elsewhere that would allow this to work?
I am attempting this after having trouble with consistency of play in the images in quicktime movie application.

The article referenced just suggests ordering the images in the select
folder as 001, 002 and so on--so that is what I did. It did not work
There isn't any reason why it shouldn't. I wrote the article :-) The filenames of the images can quite happily be a numeric sequence, as suggested. The slideshow isn't working on the article site, but that's because the GoLive script library has lost the necessary functions. I haven't been maintaining the site for quite a while. I guess I need to take a look at it as some bits of it are now broken 8-)
When I changed the names of the images to an alphanumerical sequence, it worked fine!
There is probably a further factor involved -- perhaps the *name* of the image object as opposed to the filenames of the images themselves.
It does sometimes, however, still seem to pace itself at random speeds.

Slide show from QT file- skips!

I know Im in iDVD6, but want to know if someone experienced the same problem, or if my problem is corrected in idvd6.
I exported a slide show in iP4 with about 600 photos in a QT file. I then put the that file into iDVD 4. But when I play the DVD in a commmercial DVD player, the photos "skip" between every transition/photos.
iP4, when exporting to QT, has its own default disolve transition between each slide, so there's no way to change that. I have in the past exported slide show to QT and imported to iDVD and played without any problem.
Anyone has experienced this problem and has a solution??
The slide show inidvd 6, may not be restricted to 99 photos anymore, but does it repeat the same song over an over? Cuz 600 photos sometimes require 5-6 songs..not to bore the audience!
an Apple store Genius told me it had to do with the way the file was exported in QT. Tried other format, but to no avail...

I've used for 2-3 yrs a variation of what you suggested.
I exported a QT file #1 with a sequence of say 120 pics with one song, then trimmed the end so it ends with music. Then exported another sequence of photo as QT file #2, with another song.... etc
Then with QT pro, I joined all the different QT files #1, #2, etc (which had already their own songs imbedded into), used the copy and paste, then did a save as "self contained" file et voila I have an entire QT file slide show with more than 99 pics with multiple songs. It plays great onto the computer, but on a DVD and player...it skips!
The reason I like using ip4, is because the newer version of iP5 and 6, export to QT creating a much bigger file size (short of saying humongous) One of the reason, is because when using KB effect, it create a 30 frames per second just like IMovie does, hence making the file reallly big. The old iPhoto 4, exports only one jpg per photo, and reference to the first frame to display the subsequent frame, untill the next photo. So say for example, 2 sec in iPhoto5, would require 60 different separate frames/photos (of the same pic slightly different from one another- to create the KB effect). But in iP4, QT uses the photo once, and for frame 2 to 60 (2sec) , it only references to the first frame..... therefore keeping the file size small...... this way you can put more Slide show on a DVD.
Anyway I've sidetracked a little....

Slide show won't run

I run the latest release of IPhoto 9 (from iLife 2011) on an i5 IMac running the latest update of OS 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Suddenly, Slide Show will not run from the IPhoto browser.
When I click the slide show start arrow, the screen dips to black for one second and then returns to where I was in the browser. No slide show options screen; absolutely no slide show under any circumstances except random screen saver.
Is there a patch for this bug ? If not, would deleting and reinstalling any named file(s) solve this annoying software failure?

It comes to something when I have to answer my own question! However I have to admit I did have a little help from an earlier question which was thrown up by a search I did! It seems that when a PDF show is emailed and the recipient is asked whether the show should be opened in full screen or not; the answer should be 'yes' in order for the show to start automatically.
If the recipient answers 'no' the show stays stuck on the first slide. Hope this help anyone else who may have the same problem.

Photoshop Elements 10 Slide Show Audio

In creating a slide show (in the Create Slide Show option out of the Organizer), after I add a mp3 audio clip for background music, I would like to adjust the volume as I do narration over the top of it. The volume slider in the audio properties tab has no effect except for previewing the clip within the tab. The volume during playback within the slide show remains constant. What exactly does the volume slider do?

I realize that you said not the Premiere version.
However, I have not been able to lower the volume of the music during Narration using the Create Slide Show option of the Organizer (which is the create slide show that was previously in Photoshop Elements).
1 -- FYI - Premiere Elements does have an Audio Mixer that can be used as an easy method to adjust the volume of the music during the time periods which you choose (for example, during the narration). So that is what I have used.
2 -- Otherwise I think that you may need to use an audio editor to create your soundtrack volume adjustments and then add this "volume adjusted audio" to the Create Slide Show process. Audacity is a free audio editor for which I have seen recommendations but I have no personal experience with it.
3 -- What will be the final output format for this slide show ? What software will you use to create that final output ? Perhaps the answers to these questions will identify another alternative for your audio.

what version of iPhoto are you using?
what system version are you running?
what happens when you try to create a new slideshow? Any messages?
what fixes have you tried?
where is your library located?
did you apply any updates or upgrades just prior to the problem occurring?
are you running a "managed" or "referenced" library?
what type of Mac?
how much free space on your boot drive?
