More songs on computer than ipod

I just synched my ipod classic with itunes, and although the new songs came over, there are more on my computer than on my ipod. Everything I have done so far is from my personal CD library, all legal. I have 5077 songs on the ipod but 5108 in itunes on the computer.
How can I determine what is missing on the ipod?

Hey there,
Have you made sure all the songs are checked in iTunes? To make sure they are, press Ctrl and then click on one of the boxes next to the songs. This might and probably remove them all, so just repeat the process to have them all checked.
After that, resync your iPod to iTunes. While it it syncing make sure to check if any errors coming up about certain songs not being able to copy over. If there are more than one, it will provide the entire list. Just click the plus mark in the bottom corner of the dialog box that came up. Hope this helps. Let me know.

  • HT204406 more songs in icloud than on my mac

    I do have 50 more songs in icloud than on my mac. How can I find out which one?

    This might mean that there are songs that you purchases and downloaded from iTunes, then deleted from your Mac.
    Try this:
    View --> Show Music Not On This Computer
    Look for songs that are grayed out - those are songs that you purchased via iTunes but subsequently deleted from your computer.
    Good luck!

  • TS1363 when I plug in my IPOD into my computer to add more songs, my computer, nor itunes recognizes the IPOD.

    i can know longer see my IPOD connected to my computer.  My IPOD is functioning fine... even can play on my docking system.  Trying to add more songs.

    try a different usb port, or try the wall charger, change ipod usb wire, turn ipod on to see if the low battery screen pops up by holding onto the switch above the ipod. try that stuff

    You really should read the manual .....
    Sync with iTunes.
    Connect the iPod to the computer with the cable and launch iTunes.
    Click on the iPod name on the left side under devices.
    Click on the Music Tab on the right.
    Click on all of the albums or playlists that you want to sync - or the entire library if you like.
    Click on the Sync Music Heading.
    Click on Apply in the lower right corner of iTunes

    Maybe I did it wrong, but I tried that, and nothing changed. I bought the songs on iTunes, not through my iPod...but thank you anyway. I also tried the "manage music manually" setting on my iPod and nothing changed either. What should I see when I try that?

  • More songs on phone than computer

    Hello,
    I have about 500 songs on my iPhone that aren't on my computer.  If I activate iTunes Match, will this allow me to upload the extra songs from my phone to the Cloud so I can listen to them on my other devices?  Or will iTunes match replace the content on my phone with the songs stored from my computer only?  I don't want to lose these songs!
    Thank you.

    iTunes Match does not scan the music library on an iOS device. Those songs will be removed from the device when iTM is enabled.

    Hello Matt,
    It sounds like you are trying to transfer music from your iPod to your computer.  I found an article with information on transferring media from your iPod to your computer:

  • Transfer songs from computer to iPod

    Hey,
    I know alot of users like myself have lost their music files from their computer but still have them on their iPod. Unfortuantly, alot of these questions have not been answered because it is impossible to transfer songs to iPod to computer with iTunes only. But, that does not mean it is absolutly impossible to recover the data. There is a software out called Pod Rescue, that can help with this problem.
    Just sharing the luck!

  • Deleting songs and syncing with ipod.

    There was too much music in my library to fit on my ipod. Deleted several songs down to 1590.  When syncing it says 1997 songs. Why is it showing more songs to download than what I have in library?

    If your iPod was set to manually sync you could do that by ripping to the old computer and then dragging those tracks onto the iPod with the other stuff on the iPod left alone. Problem is, to set to manual, you have to plug it into your non-working computer. You could take all the stuff off the iPod, put it on the old computer, then let the old computer resync the iPod to its library.

    It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
    If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

  • I have more songs than I can put on Ipod.  How can I un-click all songs in an album without doing each singly, to reduce space? Thanks

    I have more songs than I can put on Ipod. Will unclick some songs but one at a time is taking forever. How can I un-click all songs in an album without doing each singly, to reduce space needed on iPod? Thanks

    Why not try syncing a smart playlist that updates automatically every time you sync your iPod?
    Try something like this:
    1. Pull down File > New Smart Playlist;
    2. Playlist IS Music; click the plus button;
    3. Last Played IS NOT in the last 90 days;
    4. Select the option to Limit to xxx items selected by Random and click OK.
    Name the playlist that is created something distinctive then sync you iPod with that. It will automatically update based on the last played dates of a tune and you'll always have fresh content on your iPod. Modify the playlist as needed to make it give you the results you want.
    Regards,
    Michael
