More songs on iPhone

I have an iPhone 5 and there are more songs on my iPhone than in iTunes.  These are not purchases so I cannot transfer purchases.  How can I get the songs on my iPhone into the iTunes library?

Thank you for your reply.  However this link does not answer my question.
At one time I load many CD's into my iTunes library and then onto my iPhone. For some reason now the CD's that are on my iPhone are no longer in iTunes.
I have a new Shuffle and would like it to have the same content as my iPhone.
Regards
Lisa

I have an iphone 4s ios 7.0.2. Before updating to the latest ios i had songs in my iphone. after updating also it was there, but when i wanted to put more songs through itunes in my iphone , i synced with itunes first with my iphone. Then i pressed sync all songs and then itunes said that all songs had been synced. But in my iphone it showed me that there is no songs at all and i have to download it from itunes store. The songs which i had also went from my iphone. I dont know what happened. I updated my itunes to the latest one 11.1.1. But still no change . Can anyone tell me what is the problem. What to do?

    Hello babichanjacob
Change how it syncs by enabling Manually manage music and videos, then you can drag and drop the music that you want on your iPhone. Revert it back to test to see if that resolves the issue.

  • More songs in my iPhone music list compared to my iTunes music list?

On my iPhone 6 running IOS 8.1.3, I currently have 1624 songs.  After syncing with iTunes on my Macbook Pro running Yosemite 10.10.2, the count at the bottom of my total song list is 1613 (a delta of a 11 songs).
I do not have any duplicate songs after running "Show duplicate items" in iTunes.  I know I have 2 podcasts and 1 music video but I don't think this is included in the song list.  Although, the number of albums seem to match up just fine both having 1016 in total.
I appreciate any tips on how to figure out the difference or what could be causing why I have 11 more songs in my music list on my iPhone.

This is a common occurrence.  I had about 2 songs difference about 2 years ago, rectified it, and the cause was something like a free song or two I had downloaded onto the iPhone.
If it bothers you, here is the process to rectify:
In iTunes on your Mac, sync your iPhone.  Then while the iPhone is plugged in, go to the iPhone's Music tab in iTunes and uncheck "Sync Music".  Then click "Apply" in the lower right.
This will clear your iPhone of all previously synced music.  It should leave behind the extra 11 songs.
Do what you like with these songs.  Then recheck "Sync Music" and click "Apply", which will restore the 1613 songs to your iPhone.

How to delete multiple songs from iPhone 5S without losing form iTunes? The unchek function has not worked. Why?

Sorry I had to reply through your profile Gail from Maine, my PC has java issues. In any event, when I delete them directly from my device everything is perfect and cool. However, in the rare instance I want to add new music that I actually buy in stores (I know, quite the unique and old-fashioned idea...but hey Im an audiophile) once I upload the tunes, everytime I sync my library it re-adds everything that I spent hours deleting. In a perfect world, I thought I could maintain a massive iTunes Library, and add or delete (remove) songs from my iPhone to save both memory or keep my iPhone selections more current/apt to my musical "tastes" at that time. I know about the whole playlist thing, but thought there might be an easier way. ie - checking/un-checking the little box next to the song name, and then doing a sync. Again, everytime I do this however, whether everything is checked or un-checked it adds the entire library! So frustrating. Any suggestions. Thank you graiously in advance for your help.

  • How to set a song for iphone as a ringtone

how can i set an mp3 song for iphone 4s or iphone 5 as a ringtone?

Ringtone can be max. 35 seconds long.
    DIY using computer iTunes:
    1. Select a title (.mp3 or .m4a) in your iTunes Library
    2. Do File > Get Info on selected title (Windows do Edit > Get Info)
    3. In the dialog choose Options tab
    4. Set Start Time and End Time (no more than 35 secs otherwise won't work)
    5. Close dialog.
    6. Now control click the title (right click) and choose Create AAC Version
Note: If you don't have Create AAC version, switch in menu File > Preferences...(Windows do Edit > Preferences...) > General > Import Settings... > Import Using: AAC Encoder.
    7. When it is done, drag the newly create title to the desktop.
    8. Delete the newly create title in iTunes. <-- This step is important
    9. Rename the title on your desktop from ringtone.m4a to ringtone.m4r
    10. Drag and drop it into iTunes
    Now you have a ringtone.
Make sure it is selected in iTunes > Tones for syncing with your new iPhone.

  • 'Extra' songs on iPhone

Synching my iPhone 5 with my iTunes today I noticed that I was starting to run out of memory. I wondered why so I checked each item in the memory status bar and it was telling me I had far more songs than I remembered. I double checked this against what the phone was telling me and there were 150 more songs (and 3.58GB more memory usage) than there should be. I unchecked all my music; albums, artists, playlists etc, so when I look in Music on the phone there is absolutely nothing there, but the memory status bar in iTunes when I plug it into my Mac tells me there is 150 songs on the phone. The 2 pictures below show the current situation:
So the question is, what's going on here and how do I get rid of these 'extra' songs and free up the space they're using?

There is corrupted data on your phone.  You need to restore in iTunes and resync your music.  The corrupted data may be getting into the backup, and you may have to restore as new,

can more than 1 iphone sync with itunes?

    This isn't a problem, but a question.
    1. Can you sync your iphone with remote to more than one itunes library (such as itunes on 2 different computers)?
Yes you can sync with more than one iTunes Library. I just did it today with the library on my Mac and PC
    if so then...
    2. Does the itunes have to be maximized for the remote function to work, or can it be minimized on the task bar at the bottom?
On my mac I can play the songs with iTunes minimized.
The reason why, is I want to sync my iphone with my mother's computer at her house, and put some sound effects on her library. Then I want to turn her itunes on and minimize it and wait until she starts working on her pc and then I can play some practical jokes on her making her computer make weird noises (sound effects on itunes).
Any answers would be appreciated by me (but not my mother).
Thanks, and happy pranking to you all

  • Songs on iPhone 4s are all grey, how do I remove them?

    Hello there, yyc2.
First, make sure the feature is covered in your country:
Apple - iOS 8 Feature Availability
    http://www.apple.com/ios/feature-availability/#maps-turn-by-turn-navigation
If you are located in a region that has the feature available then the following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps when not seeing expected functionality in iOS:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3281
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected,  restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on),  reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, contact Apple.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,

  • Itunes Match Makes Deleting Songs from iPhone impossible

I'm so frustrated by iTunes Match, and would love to know if anyone can tell me if I'm doing something wrong.
The issue I'm having is that I can't delete songs which have been downloaded onto my phone from my phone with my phone.  Whether the itunes Match service is disabled, or enabled and the "show all music" option is disabled, the music app does not respond to swiping to delete albums, artists or songs.  I've tried every configuration of settings I can think of.
Does anyone have a way to fix this?  I've done many hard reboots and come up with nothing.  I can of course delete by using my home computer, but I'm paying for a service that should allow me to download from the cloud and delete what I've downloaded while away from my desktop.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks

    Hi Kevinpnb,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
Sorry to hear of your frustration with Music Match on your iPhone.  You should be able to delete the music from your iPhone by following the steps in this article:
iTunes Match on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5637
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
You can delete a song or album from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch at any time. Don't worry; it'll still be in the cloud.
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.
Also, this information can be found on page 64 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone.  Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1867
If the issue still persists, try backing up your iPhone to iCloud, and then restore it:
iCloud: Restore your iOS device from iCloud
    https://support.apple.com/kb/ph12521
I hope this information helps ....

  • On second computer, ITunes doesn't show songs on IPhone

Having dowloaded ITunes on new Vista pc, when hooking up IPhone, ITunes recognizes my acct and the memory taken up by music but doesn't show any of the several hundred songs on IPhone
    HELP!

Before reformatting your computer's hard drive or reinstalling Windows - this is important because you will probably be reinstalling Windows again in the not too distant future, you can back up your entire iTunes library - it is in a single iTunes named folder. This will include playlists, playcount, etc.
Have you reauthorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes?
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content from an iPod or iPhone that was purchased from the iTunes store, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased from the iTunes store only. After you have reauthorized your computer with your iTunes account with iTunes, with your iPhone connected and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.
If any 3rd party apps do not transfer to your iTunes library, you can re-download purchased apps and you won't be charged again as long as you use the same iTunes account that was used to purchase the app originally.
An iPod supports disk mode, so the iPhone not supporting disk mode has nothing to do with DRM. Security and "whatnot" is important. As a Windows user with constant virus, adware, and spyware concerns, you should welcome a company that takes security seriously and does something about it. I guess after suffering with Windows for so long getting used to constant security concerns and "whatnot", I guess Apple shouldn't be so concerned about security making Windows users feel more at home giving you the ability to use the device any way you want and the same for hackers and script kiddies? Sorry, but you can stick with Windows and Windows Mobile for that.

  • How do you stop downloading itunes match songs to iphone 5

How do you stop downloading itunes match songs to iphone 5?
Cell data is turned off but it is still downloading.

When you initially enable iTunes Match on any iDevice it is wise to let it operate for a good period docked or with good WiFi.
Best route to stop it if essential is to switch off iTunes Match.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion.  Use your backup copy to put everything back.
