More songs on ipod than in iTunes library?

I'm sure this has been answered before but having searched the forum I cannot find an answer.
Is there an easy way of establishing the extra tracks?

I always kept my entire library on my iPod but recently swapped computers. I still don't understand why the iPod should have more tracks though!?!
Can anyone explain?

Cannot download songs to ipod from my itunes library

I am new to this! After purchasing my shiny new ipod nano 4 days ago I successfully installed itunes and ipod on my windows XP. I purchased 26 songs and successfully updated ipod. Last night I purchased 10 more songs, updated and attempted to back up the library on a CD. Here is where I really screwed up...I did not disconnect ipod from my computer. I was told I was not authorized to burn a CD. I then went to a program on the computer that was already present (I think it is called realplay) and attempted to transfer my files in to that library and burn a CD with that program. Well, this seemed to occur but still I could not burn a CD. I think this did somthing to my itunes library. Why? Well, the computer completely froze. After about 45 minutes of attempting to restart my computer etc, I shut down the computer completely and then disconnected ipod. I rebooted and the computer was running fine but all of my music was erased from ipod. However, my itunes library seems intact. I attempted to update the ipod again starting over and nothing will transfer to ipod. I did the "R"s and it still not updating.
I thought perhaps the "other" program was blocking the process so I want back and follwed directions to have "realplayer" recognize ipod and transfer songs from there...no go.
I don't know if I have changed the file formats and ipod doesn't recognize them or if everything is corrupted. As you can probably tell I am fairly computer illiterate...all I want to do is work out to my playlist.
Any ideas about what is going on?

I have more songs on my Ipod then I do in my ITunes Library. If I plug my Ipod into my computer to sync, will the ITunes get updated with the additional songs on my Ipod? Or will the additional songs on my Ipod get removed since they are not in my Library in ITunes? Please help. Thanks.

TS1717 itunes continually crashes when I try to add a song to ipod playlist from itunes library.

Since I've updated to itunes 10 recently, itunes crashes everytime I try to add a song from my library into an ipod playlist. This has never happened before and seems to be related to the recent update. Please advise.

How to have more songs on iPod than on laptop?

My iBook has 27GB, my iPod 40GB. I want to keep basically all music on the iPod and as little as possible on the laptop. E.g., import my CD's into Itunes, dump into iPod, and delete from iTunes thereafter. How can I do this?
I selected "manually manage music" in the summary tab for the iPod, but that just made it crash, and when I deleted files from Itunes, it still deleted them from the iPod. How does one, in fact, manually manage music on this thing? Oh, it's a white ipod 40GB, bout 2 years old.

Manually manage is want you want. Sync selected playlist mode might work also.

When I upgrade my iPod, it doesn't take into account all the changes I've made in my library, eg I've changed the artist name for a podcast and the file now appears under both the old and the new name. So my iTunes library and my iPod library don't coincide exactly and I have more tracks on my iPod than on iTunes... What should I do??

Auto update should fix this.
I auto update which is why I can't figure out why I don't end up with 2 identical libraries...

iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod, iPad, or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
With your iPod connected, at the iTunes menu bar go to File and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPod.
If you had Sync Music selected under the Music tab for your iPod sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading a song from the iTunes store direct with your iPod, the song would be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPod with iTunes after doing so.

You would have to let itunes rip the songs from the cd's, or you would have to copy the music from the computer which ripped cd's.
iTunes does not support transferring music from the ipod unless it was purchased from the store.

How to manage more than one iTunes library?

I want to transfer some media from my lap to an ext drive to create more space. I want one iTunes library on the ext drive for some media and keep the main library on my laptop. I created a new iTunes library on my external drive and added one artist's folder from the Music Folder to it. Now when I eject the external drive I am unable to open the iTunes on my laptop because the "folder containing the iTunes library cannot be found". What do I do to open my home iTunes back on my laptop? Is managing two iTunes libraries the best way to keep your media on the external drive? If so, what do I do?

In this case, you might need to create a manager structure based on Roles and create a role for each identified manager and put in it those users whom they manage. OIM only allows for a single manager per user on the user form. There is no default functioanlity to allow for this type of manager structure though, so if you see any checkboxes that limit based on manager, it will not work for this. Also any email notifications that are configured to go to the manager will also not work. You would have to use the APIs to see what role the current user is a member of, and then maybe you can add a custom field to your roles to limit what is returned like "Is Manager Role" and if true, return only those.
Just a few ideas to get you headed in the right direction.
