More Strange Happenings

Question

I have used Logic for over two years now. I have grown
very used to it, even the sometimes quirky behavior.
Lately I have been very suprised to see something
happening that baffles me. I have been working on
my keyboard recording midi and qudio when all of
a sudden the audio object stops working. After usually
about 5 minutes of checking the usual subjects, I would
go into the audio layer to find that my multi instrument
has been rewired to a different audio object. This is with
the protect cables and positioning enabled. I have had this
happen three times now. Tonight when I went to delete
the bad cable, a row of connectors appeared on the
multi probably at least 30 going down. I did not look
to see how far down they went, was not in a good mood.
Also I have had my the midi signal ignored by Logic. I
know the signal is good since I can see it on the transport
and I have a monitor in the clicks and ports. Both tell
me I have a good signal but when I try to record midi
nothing gets recorded. This has happened a couple of
times now. Very frustrating. The only thing I can do is
record audio or call it a night.
Anybody else seen anything like this. I would like to
think there is a way to stop it, though I kind of doubt it.

Well IS,
I tried it and unfortunately it did not work. I
even took out the whole layer like you did, still
am getting no midi recorded. The audio object
problem is solved for now. I started to think
logically (as much as this is possible) and thought
to check the Audio and Midi setup. I notice that
my keyboard had changed. It has 8 internal ports
that each have 16 channes. When I set this up it
was hilarious. As you add the ports and channels,
the thing gets longer and longer. The setup program
feels the need to show every port and channel
available. So I had this object with 128 channels
must have been a couple of feet long. Well,
when I checked, it now only had 4 ports and
2 channels on each port. Thinking this could
be a corrupt object I tried without success to
delete it. It would not highlight the delete
object while it was on. I turned it off, deleted
it and created a new one. When I turned the
keyboard back on, the corrupt object would
appear and I was back to square one. I was
so irritated I threw the whole app in the trash.
Thats right, I threw the Audio Midi setup in
the trash and emptied it. While I was at it
I deleted some of the digidesign stuff, since I
was no longer using their equipment. Well
OSX did not like that. Trying to reboot, I got
the circle with the line through it. Now I am
really irked. I did a reinstall of 10.4, reinstalled
ProAppRuntime ( I new it would come
in handy). Then back to Audio Midi setup only to
find that when I turned the keyboard on, that
corrupt object reappeard as if to say some taunting
remark. Since I never do anything halfway, it seems
that Logic cant find RMX now, So I guess I shot
myself in both feet. Well this has been good therapy
for me (the writing, not the troubleshooting), I am
guessing a reinstall of Logic is my next step, anyone
have any other suggestions?
I think I will have that drink now!
