Is it possible for my computer to have more than 1 itunes because my sister has hers with a whole crap load of songs. I want my own so I can have it orginized and to have my songs.

You don't need two copies of iTunes, just two Windows login accounts. Log in to your account, start iTunes, and it will have a completely different library than she has in her account. Songs you add will show up in your library (and not in hers) and vice versa. You can connect an iPod to yours, she can have a different iPod with hers, etc. and the two accounts won't even know about each other.

You get the ability to stream your iTunes content, (music, videos, etc.) to your TV without the need for your computer to be physically located within a cables length from the TV itself. That's the AppleTV's big draw right now however, with the introduction of the YouTube streaming feature it shows that there is potential to access anything else on the web right from your TV in the future.

ITunes 8.1 Can't Seem to do More Than One Thing at a Time

I upgraded to 8.1 and now, rather than a "faster" iTunes experience as was advertised on Apple's website, iTunes can't seem to do more than one thing at a time without locking up the application completely. For instance, when trying to download podcasts if I choose to hit more than one "Get" button at a time iTunes will freeze up until the first podcast has completely downloaded. During this time I cannot access any other screen in iTunes at all.
This freezing of iTunes also occurred while I was trying to sync my iPhone 3G. I received the Calendar sync error that a few other people have mentioned on the forum and wanted to turn off Calendar sync (since I don't use it and don't understand why iTunes turned it on by default, apparently, after the upgrade) but I had to wait for my iPhone 3G to completely sync before I could gain access to any of the tabs in the iPhone sync window.
So, basically it seems like the new version of iTunes (8.1) really doesn't like to be bothered while it is trying to copy data from one place to another.
Any ideas?

I'm using Vista Ultimate 64-bit and iTunes 8.1 installed OK, but required a restart of the entire OS after upgrading. It takes forever to launch, clicking on certain items (like applications) causes itunes to freeze for about 15-30 seconds before it continues (this is actually something that's been there since the introduction of the app store), I've had to switch my library view to LIST and avoid any sort of album art. Using album art to view my library causes iTunes to be extremely, obnoxiously unresponsive.
The best part - plugging in my iPhone to sync it... iTunes simply sits there dumbly - doesn't even recognize that I've plugged my iPhone in. So now I can't even sync. QUALITY product, quality. So the app I'm FORCED to use to manage my phone doesn't even work after upgrading. Outstanding.
I'm terrified of uninstalling and reinstalling... the last time I did that with iTunes it jacked my library up... it "lost" all of my music... basically it disassociated all of the music (even the stuff purchased through the itunes store) with the index file so I had to re-import EVERY song and delete the duplicate entry.
I searched a ton of forums looking for any clues as to how I could improve performance... All I run into is apple fan boys flaming any and all forums to the point of PC *****, no Apple *****, and so forth. Extremely unhelpful.
The fact is this - if I wasn't forced to use iTunes to manage my non-jailbroken iPhone 3G, then I'd dump it completely. It is a horrible app. Why punish the customers that haven't gone the route of "jail breaking" their iPhones?
One individual on one of the forums suggested that blue screens, and all the other random errors, including slow performance were due to a lack of RAM. I have 4GB of RAM on my machine I can run a virtual Fedora core 9 machine and a virtual WinXP machine on my Vista x64 box and still not have any performance issues with those two virtuals in the background sucking up system resources, yet with nothing open and less than 50% of my 4GB of RAM in use iTunes performance is abysmal. I have not run into any other application on my Vista machine that performs as badly as iTunes.
And Apple is touting a "64-bit" version of iTunes - it isn't. The applications the 64-bit installer installs are all 32-bit.
So, I'm searching as the two of you are for an answer to horrible performance of iTunes.
Even exiting out of iTunes takes a day and a half... "saving itunes library".... And my "library" isn't that big.

Go to Settings/icloud. The Apple ID at the top of the screen is the only one you need to be concerned about. That one MUST be a working ID, and you must know the password for it, or you will be unable to use the phone if it ever crashes, you want to update it, or you want to sell it.

After installing iOS5 on iTunes and iPhone, everything went almost smoothly, except activation, which i finally fixed it.
The issues i am now experiencing are for the most after iOS5 and iTunes 10.5
No direct connection to Wifi Spot at HOME, ( i don't have a Carrier contract) I have to be really 2 metres near the router to connect, but not with iPad which i didn't update to OS5 yet, My Library problem is everyday i have to upload all my music from my computer, from nearly 2000 songs to really 12945 now!!! most of them duplicates, duplicates!!! Back in 2002/3 first i bought the second generation of iPod, i never saw a duplicate song or file, but now it is different.It becomes sort of a challenge to open your iTunes on your Laptop, and you figure out that your Library is Empty, you have to look for Folders, and no Purchased icon under iTunes Store, No Music Videos either!!!

I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. See this thread for background.
What brand of PC do you have? Sony VIAO is notoriuous for having some software which corrupts the iTunes library.
If you are routinely generating more and more duplicates in your library then you are adding media in the wrong way. Simply scanning the entire media folder over & over again is a likely cause of problems, particularly if this is a different folder from the one currently set as the iTunes Media folder. Use a tool like iTunes Folder Watch which can scan your media folders, add new files and remove missing ones.

iTunes Match is not sharable across Apple IDs. The best way to get the music on her iPad is to leave hers signed into her Apple ID on the iTunes Store and sync via USB.

He would have to use a separate ID for iMessage in order to do this. You can still share the same ID for iTunes; it doesn't have to be the same as the ID used for iMessage. To do this, have him go to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive, tap the ID, sign out, then sign back in with a different ID.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for just such an occasion. Use your backup copy to put everything back.
If you have failed to bakup, then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod: File>Transfer Purchases

You don't set iTunes to manual, you set the iPod. If you want to connect and use an iPod on more than one computer or with more than one library you need to change the update preference in the iPod Summary tab to "Manually manage music and videos" and click Apply. The content of iTunes and the iPod are not syncronised in this mode so the two can be different. You can directly access the content of the iPod and play it through iTunes and you can drag and drop whatever you want to the iPod from either library:

Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod

There are a few different ways to use multiple iPods with one computer. However if the iPods are also being used with multiple computers then you'll be using the manual method regardless and not any form of auto-sync. Multiple users on a single computer/synching device to more than one iTunes

Sorry if this has been asked before -- seems like it would be a common question. Our family has three iTunes users, and we each run off our own laptop, but there's a lot of overlap in the library and it's a huge waste of disk space. I'd like to achieve two things:
1. Have a single copy of a music file even if it's in all three libraries
2. Avoid having to go into three separate iTunes accounts to add new music to each one -- I just want to add it once and have it available to all three users
So can I do this: have a new iTunes account on the central desk computer, and have that iTunes hold all our music. Everybody maintains their own playlists on that one central iTunes. If we sync our iPhones/iPods to that computer, we just sync music, and we pick up our playlists. If we sync to our laptops, we sync podcasts and so on and don't sync music because there won't be music on those laptops. Will that work? Or can I not sync my iPhone to more than one iTunes?

For #2, itunes doesn't have the capability to monitor folders for new content. You'll need to get something like the free program 'itunes folder watch'.

More than on ITunes on one computer

My wife and I recently bought seperate Classics for ourselves. She has a little bit different taste in musice as I and thus I was wondering that if I setup different login profiles, can we have seperate ITunes installed under each profile, each with our repective music and other?

To set up a 2nd library on your computer you need to exit iTunes if it is open, then click on the start button. Select 'all programs', move the curser to iTunes, then you will get the choice of 'about iTunes' or 'iTunes'. Whilst holding the 'shift' key down, select 'iTunes'. You should then receive the option to 'create' or 'choose' a library. (sometimes I find it will open the already existing library, if so repeat these steps, it will work within a couple of trys.) Once you have created more than one library, clicking on the iTunes shortcut on your desk top will open the most recently used library, just go through the above process and select the 'choose library' option. For ease of selection, I recommend that when you create your library, to name the folder with your own name. This will save you from accidently opening another library. Hope this helps, good luck.

My wife and I currently have a laptop each, and so I have my itunes account through my macbook and my wife has hers through her macbook.
We are looking at getting a Mac Mini, as my wife's macbook is on it's last legs, and we would like to have both itunes accounts on the new Mac to sync our phones/ipod/ipad with. Is this possible? I don't wish to pay for the music my wife buys, and she has no interest in paying for Apps i use etc. Would it be possible to run 2 itunes accounts through 1 itunes on 1 mac?

An iPod touch cannot be synched to more than one computer at a time. You can have content from more than one iTunes Store account, but that content either has to be collected onto a single computer for synching to the iPod, or downloaded directly from the iTunes Store.
