More than 12 videos on an iDVD project?

I have a bunch of short videos in the 20MB range. Wanted to put them on the same DVD, chose one of the simpler themes, thinking it would allow more graphic space on the screen for titles.
Proceeded to click the + and add movies, shrunk the font and moved them around.
The app began complaining around video 11, allowed me to 'temporarily override' the complaint, then absolutely refused to allow me to add video 13.
I know these don't total anywhere near 4GB nor is the aggregate time near 2 hours.
So.. is there any way to continue adding videos - past 12 - to an iWeb project for burning?
thx

The limitation is iDVD's 'themes' design, not the size of the movies in GB. In fact, the limitation for iDVD menu/submenu content itself is the TIME LENGTH of all the content, not the actual GB size. iDVD will compress the data to fit its 4.7 GB single-layer limitation (8.5 dual layer). The actual limitation is 120 minutes for single-layer DVDs (twice that for dual-layer).
You cannot have more than 12 'buttons' on iDVD's main menu. However, you could accomplish what you want in several ways:
1. Place 10 of your videos on the main menu and then select 'Add Submenu' to create a button that would allow navigation to a submenu where you could place the remaining 10 videos
2. Don't place any of the videos on the main menu, but add two submenus and put 10 videos on each one.
3. Other variations of the above pattern: Have 4 submenus with 5 videos on each one, etc......

  • Sharing More than One Movie with iDVD????

Okay.. I would like to know if there is another way to burn MORE than one movie an iDVD project. It seems that sending the movie straight to iDVD creates it's own project, and when you try to send another movie, it creates a completely different project. I know I can send a movie to Media browser but the quality of the movie is much better when I share it via the command in iMovie 09 (Shrare->iDVD). I've noticed that the file type is different when you send it to iDVD than when you put it in Media Browser as well.
Currently this is what I do.. Share it to iDVD.. Then I save that iDVD project to my desktop. I close iDVD, and start sharing my second movie. I then Control-Click on the first iDVD project and choose "Show Package Contents". I then dig into the trenches of that file to find the movie file. I then drag it to the desktop and delete the first iDVD project. When the new iDVD project gets made, I simply drag the file on my desktop into the iDVD project I want it in and then it works. This seems like a so un-apple way to do this though. I think iMovie definetly needs and update here. It's great if you ony want to burn a 1 movie to iDVD, but what if you want to do more. There should be a way to select multiple movies to send to iDVD or the option of adding a new imported movie to the current project in iDVD.
Am I missing something or is there another way to do this? Is there a good export option in QuickTime? DV doesn't work because the quality I get is horrible. Somehow the shared to iDVD movie is the best quality and it's a QuickTime file via h.264. Is that my best export option? Sharing with the Media browser creates a mv4 file that's much smaller in size, even at the largest setting. The frames are more jumpier when iDVD finishes with it than the h.264 file.
Any better suggestions? Also, where do I go to make suggestions for Apple. I can't find it anymore on this website.

Q:Also, where do I go to make suggestions for Apple.
A: Launch iDvd and then scroll down to Provide iDvd Feeback.

  • Has anyone used more than one event for one project?

    Hi,
I have an opinion about Final Cut Pro X that hasn't changed since my first few days with it.  I waited to see if I would get used to it.  But, after a fair amount of time, I still am not comfortable with 'Events' and 'Projects'.  The separation of the media and projects creates more problems than solutions with my workflow.
The purpose of it was to add flexibility for both the professionals and consumers using it, but my first impressions are still the same.  The new Event and Project system adds complexity to organization and archiving.  I wouldn't write this if it wasn't enough of a hindrance for me, that I encounter constantly.  I think the new Final Cut Pro X is incredible, but this issue is definitely important to me.
Has anyone out there used more than 1 Event for 1 Project?  Some of us create more than 1 Project for an Event, to make different version of a video, or for brainstorming, or to make a part 1 and part 2 of a video, but I've never had more than 1 Event for 1 Project.  I don't need to use the media from multiple Events for the same Project.  And I've never used it for a reason.  I don't think someone will want to use their Hawaii vacation footage for a Denver vacation project, and a Florida vacation project.  I think we should bring back the connection between Events and Projects in a meaningful way.
This is a throw back to the older days, but that's not always a bad thing.  Let us keep our projects, or timelines, in the Events folder.  Make an area above the JPG section, and PNG section, and MOV section, and call it the Projects section.  Then we can easily find our Projects and add a new Project every time we need it, and organize our files quickly - without having to keep track of more windows. Final Cut Pro X is all about being more simplified than other video programs, and I think this goes right along with that idea.
    Thanks,
    - David

My original fear was that FCPX was just going to be iMovie Pro... It so is not!
People use the interface in different ways. I think that's what most of us like about it, it's flexibiity to accommodate different types of workflows.  For me, I use the Events browser mostly like I'd be using the Finder. All the imported clips I use are referenced by the hard disks on which they reside. I know where to find them in the Event Browser and I know where to find them in the Finder.  I use a lot of stock footage and therefore *reuse* a lot of stock footage from project to project. I'm not going to re-import duplicates into different events because I don't find that the least bit convenient and I do find it a terrible waste of precious HD real estate.
    But that's me.
Some people like to load up everything they're going to use in a single project in a single event... I get that. You can command click your way through a bunch of clips, type E and everything is automatically arranged on your storyline in the order you selected the clips. That is *awesome*!! Instant storyline (/timeline.) Furthermore, for those that need to share projects, it's easier to bundle up the events and projects if they're all together (albeit in two different folders) on one disk (— at least they are always at the top level of the drive and easy to find.)
Keeping your Events media in a different location (satellite drives) and keeping your current project on your *fastest* drive is probably the fastest way to edit (particularly if your satellite drives are Firewire or Thunderbolt [peer-to-peer interfaces don't hog system resources].) There is little cross interference in disk accesses that way. So essentially, you can keep FCPX dealing with original clip data that doesn't need to be quite as fast, reading and writing to slower drives on your system, while letting it plow through the heavy work on your fastest access drive (usually your internal HD.)
By no means is FCPX "more simplified". It has a huge amount of power. It has all the best parts of Color, Soundtrack Pro and Motion built in. It allows you to explore *ideas* in real time rather than having to plan for them a week in advance [layout, round-tripping plans to Color, STP and/or Motion for titling or effects.]  You can grab and move around elements anywhere on your "palette" with simple mouse moves and an occasional key press. The list goes on. Bottom line, it doesn't matter how you organize your events or your projects. It's all about the finished product. And for me, I can turn that around in about 1/5th the time (not claiming it's great — but I think better results in 20% of the time, on average, than it would have taken in Studio.) [Not a professional video editor -- I'm a graphic designer, and I develop Motion graphics for FCPX to make all "you guys" look better.]

  • How do I add more than one quiz to a project?

In Captivate 7 help it mentions you should be sure to name your quizzes because it will help you keep track of them when you have more than one in the same project. However, I cannot find any information on how to add a second quiz to the same project.

    Welcome to the forum,
Could you tell where this is mentioned in the Help? I believe due to SCORM standards only one quiz per file is possible. Only thing that changed since Captivate 6 is the possibility to add a Pretest. The result of a pretest can be used to take decisions like branching, but is not meant as a real quiz.
What will be reported, what is stored in the quizzing system variables is always for the totality of the file. You could track results of some questions and show them in the file. Have a look at:

  • More than one slideshow in iDVD?

I have just finished creating a slideshow & imported it to iDVD as my new project. However, now I want to make another one. I want to know if it is possible for me to add another slideshow to the same iDVD project or I have to make it as a separate one? If able to add to the same project, how would I do that? I'd really appreciate it if someone can help me. Thanks!
macbook pro   Mac OS X (10.4.9)

Yes, you can add several more. In your open iDVD project, click on the little + near the lower left side of the window. Then choose Add Movie. You can locate your movie in a Finder window and drag it to the new movie button that is created in the menu. Or select Add Slideshow to build the slideshow entirely within iDVD. An iDVD slideshow has no Ken Burns effect, but gives good quality of the photos and is very easy to create. You can have as many movies as you have menu buttons available for them, as long as the total length of the iDVD project stays within the 2 hour maximum.

  • Can I use a DRM-Protected Music video in my IDVD project.

Can I download a DRM protected music video to a IDVD project and burn a DVD. The music video is not showing up in the media window in IDVD. Only ITunes Plus songs and videos, make it to the media window. I can't drag the video directly off ITunes. They say, I can burn a up to seven copy's of the DMR protected video/music, but how.. Thanks for any help.

Didn't work, Window came up saying "Could not be converted because protected files cannot be converted to other formats. I was able to burn it to a DVD, it came up as a MPEG 4 file. Then I first went to the ITunes tool bar Preference>Advanced>importing>importing using>Aiff Encoder. Then tool bar again File> import. Music video imported another copy to ITunes library. Right mouse clicked second copy> convert selection to Aiff. Then "Could not convert" window came up.

  • Adding more than one movie to iDVD - possible or not?

I assumed that you would be able to drop more than one imovie into a iDVD project and that it would add them as different menu items but it won't do it. Am I trying to do what is not possible? Any help is appreciated cheers!

    Hi Cheeba
You got a very good link from Sue but it is fairly easy to describe.
    A. Make Your movies in iMovie. (You can make them in one session but
it is easier to make each as an individual project)
    B. Close iMovie
    C. Locate Your moviprojects. Folders for iMovie 1-4 and an icon for v.5
(if icon: Ctrl-click on it and select show package)
in this there is a folder Share movie and in this a folder DVD. Here You
will find a QT.mov file with Your project name. Take this and drop it into
an open iDVD theme window (just inside the edge of this window).
    repeat for the other movies.
OK that's all there is to it. You can try dropping the project folder/icon
instead of open it - it is supposed to work.
    Yours Bengt W

  • More than one song in iDVD iLife '09?

this may be a very simple problem, but I cant figure out/know if it's possible to have more than one song play in my slideshow in iDVD in iLife '09. I have one song playing, but want a different one after the first ends. Can anyone help?

Create a playlist in iTunes in the order that you want the songs to play then click on the music icon in iDVD click on the playlist and drag into the music area. Also, recently a number of MAC users have experienced a couple of second audio drop in the third song after burning the slideshow on a DVD. Please post if you have the same outcome.

  • Purpose of assigning more than one budget to a project

    Dear Members,
In Oracle Projects Costing module, system allows us to assign more than one budget to a particular project.
Can any one please tell me what is the real time requirement and the purpose of this functionality.
    Many thanks in advance.
    Best Regards.

    Hi
Different budget types may be related to different managerial processes.
    Examples -
For contract project you may setup a budget type to represent the amounts presented and approved by the customer, and set another budget type for internal management, may be with more granular budget entry method.
Companies may set the initial budget of the project, and not allow to update that. The use another type to represent more recent update of the project forecast. Then compare the forecast to original budget.
There could be separate budgets to control parts of the project costs. Like using a budget only for controlling external expenses. On that you enter budget amount only for materials, outside processing and sub-contracting expenditure types.

  • Import video from an idvd project DVD.

Is there a way to import video from a finished iDVD project on DVD back onto my G4? It was originally created in iMovie and I want to get it eventually into my iPhone. The DVD is the only copy, it wasn't backed up on mini DV.

Try MPEG Streamclip (www.squared5.com). Open the DVD in Finder and drag .vob files from the VIDEO_TS folder into Streamclip's window.

  • More than video chat?

  • How can i choose more than one transition using idvd. please help..

Hi my name is Luis and I took pictures and wanted to make a slideshow but when i want to choose more than one transition it wont let me. It will only let me choose just one. I would like it so the photo transition was random not just one. Please Help me if someone knows.. Thank You Very Much

Syncing and backing up in iTunes can be accomplished with multiple devices. They identify the devices based on the phone number, phone name, etc. The only way you would have an issue is if you were using different calendar contacts on the computer. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1495

  • How can I make more than 9 chapters in IDVD? None of the themes will let me..

I am making a dvd of our home movies for each year. I have divided the movies up by month and am trying to make a simple dvd using one of the themes and have one chapter for each month. For example I made an imovie of all the january videos and saved it as an mp4 file. I drag that into the dvd menu screen for the theme I picked on IDVD and name that chapter "January" Everything works great until I have the first 9 months and it won't let me drag any more movies over to make the last 3 chapters for the last 3 months. I haven't been able to find a theme even going back to the oldest ones that allows 12 chapters.. can anyone help me on this one?

I suggest you repost your question in the iDVD section.
