More than 5 base stations...?

I could use some advicce in setting up what has become a rather complex airport network...
Due to the floorplan of our apartment, it's extremely thick (1 meter, stone) walls, the limited location of available sockets and cables (DSL and ethernet) and other various user needs, we need 7 base stations to make our wireless network fit our needs and desires. We need 5 AEBS (n-type, square) plus 2 Airport Express Base Stations for music.
One AEBS will be wired via ethernet to another AEBS (to extend the reach to a far corner).
Ideally, the network should look something like this...
AEBS - 1 (main) --> wireless iMac user
|
wds
|
AEBS - 2 (to extend reach to 3 & 4)
| |
wds wds
| |
AEBS-3 & AEBS-4 --> (wireless MacBook user and USB printer)
| |
ethernet wds
cable |
| AirPort Express 1-->(iTunes with Apple HiFi)
|
AEBS 5 --> Apple TV, MacBook User
|
wds
|
Airport Express 2 --> iTunes to stereo
questions:
How can I set this up?
or specifically:
Do I set up 1 Main station and 6 Remotes (there seems to be a limit of 4 remotes?)
Do I set up AEBS 2 & 3 as Relay Stations or do Relay stations need to be wired to the main via ethernet (i.e., not wireless)?
What is the difference between "Participate in a Network" and "Extend a Network" when do I use one over the other?
any help appreciated, thanks... I agree this may be a job for a paid consultant, but I live overseas where there are none available, otherwise I would be willing to pay for some help...
kind regards,

Duane,
sorry my scematic got messed up by the formatting...
I'll try it a different way...
--> means wds
~~~ means ethernet cable
* means user (iMac, MacBook, Apple TV)
.... means ignore (no tab allowed)
AEBS 1 (*)--> AEBS 2} --> AEBS 3 ~~~ AEBS 5 (*) --> Airport Express-iTunes
.................................}--> AEBS 4 (*)--> Airport Express-iTunes
does this help explain? yes, I know I'll loose some speed, but haven't many choices here in Italy
The reason I think there is a limit of four remotes off of a main base station is that after entering 4 remotes on the WDS page, the add goes grey and won't let more remotes be added...
thank you...
  • Problem: More than one VPN user at a time - Airport Extreme Base Station
    Hey Folks,
    Myself and my girlfriend both have work laptop PCs. It appears that the AEBS only allows one VPN user at a time. When a new user is logging in, it will kick out the other user.
    Is there a setting on the AEBS that will allow more than one VPN user? Is it a firewall setting?
    Thanks for your help.
    It may the the firmware. 7.3.1. does seem as friendly to some VPNs as 7.2.1. where we had no problem running two VPNs. You could consider switching back to 7.2.1.
    If your network configuration is:
    Cable modem > (Ethernet cable) > [WAN] AEBS > (wireless) > Macs, then
    AirPort Extreme Base Station Setup (AEBS) w/High-Speed Cable Modem
    Modem/Router Power ReCycling
    - Power-off the Cable modem, AEBS, & computer(s). (If possible, leave the modem off overnight.)
    - Power-on the Cable modem; Wait at least 30 minutes.
    - Power-on the AEBS; Wait at least 5 minutes.
    - Power-on the computer(s)
    Perform a "hard" reset of the AEBS.
    - (ref: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107451)
    Setup the AEBS
    With the network components powered down, set up the AEBS, using the AirPort Admin Utility, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the LAN port of the AEBS, and then, try these settings:
    AirPort tab
    - Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - AirPort Network Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
    - Create a closed network (unchecked)
    - Wireless Security: Not enabled
    - Channel: Automatic
    - Mode: 802.11b/g Compatible
    Internet tab
    - Connect Using: Ethernet
    - Configure: Using DHCP
    - WAN Ethernet Port: Automatic
    Network tab
    - Distribute IP addresses (checked)
    - Share a single IP address (using DHCP & NAT) (enabled)
    Once you verified that you can get Internet access for all of your computers, you should secure your wireless network. To do so, I suggest that you make these changes:
    AirPort tab (optional)
    - Create a closed network (checked)
    Change Wireless Security
    - Wireless Security: WPA Personal
    Base Station Options - WAN Ethernet Port
    - Enable SNMP Access (unchecked)
    - Enable Remote Configuration (unchecked)
    - Enable Remote Printer Access (unchecked)
    Wireless Options
    - Transmitter Power: 10%
    Access Control tab (optional)
    - + <add the computer(s) that will access this wireless network>
  • More than 1 PC talking to Airport Base?
    I am confounded! I just installed an older Airport Extreme Base Station. We can only get one PC at a time to hook up with the base station. How do I get more than 1 to connect? We have three notebooks (PC) and a desktop PC that will have a wireless PCI card (Sonnet Aria Extreme). I just talked to my wife (I am at work) and she says now none of the laptops will connect. We reset the base station to factory defaults, still no go.
    I need detailed settings or directions to detailed instructions. The Help program that is available through the Airport Config Utility and the manual for the base station are no help.
    TIA,
    Pete
    A regular USB hub (USB 2.0) will work. Try and get one that is powered by its own adapter. That will drive the printer and the drive. I'm not sure whether you can scan though. (I'm guessing you can't)
  • HT1998 How can I administer a Gen 1 Airport Express from Airport Utility 6.3.2 (OS 10.9). I can see the base station but get the message: "This version of AirPort Utility doesn't support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more inform
    How can I administer a Gen1 Airport Express from, my MacPro (OS 10.9, Airport Utility 6.3.2). I can see the Express in the WiFi window but from the Airport Utility I get the following message: " This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information." Of course there's nothing of value on the support page. Any clues anyone?
    Apple has dropped support in Mavericks (10.9) of the AirPort Express and AirPort Extreme models that were discontinued more than six years ago.
    You can still administer the older AirPort models if you have a Mac running Leopard, Snow Leopard, or a PC.
  • Extreme Base Station faster up than down...Why???
    Hello all!
    I'm brand new here, so please forgive my ignorance. I just replaced a MIMO router ( CompUSA brand) with the Airport Extreme Base Station. Speed tests reveal that my downstream speed to average 2Mbps, while upstream is nearly 8Mbps...what am I doing wrong? Isn't it supposed to be the opposite, with down being much faster than up?
    Any help will be greatly appreciated...thanks in advance
    backlineguy
    I can answer my own post!...how's that!...Full throttle throughput was attained by first restarting the cable modem with the Airport Extreme Base station (AEBS) powered off. Depress the reset button on the AEBS and hold for 10-15 seconds WHILE powering it up. Voila. Incredibly, the downstream is flowing at more than 28Mbps!...and upstream 7Mbps...that's the kind of speed I was looking for! Hope this helps anyone with the same issue!.
  • ORA-01776: cannot modify more than one base table through a join view
    I have created EO based on a database view than consists of two tables, and only one is updateable.
    When I try to update a row using EO, I got a following message: "ORA-01776-cannot modify more than one base table through a join view"
    In Forms, this issue is resolved by setting "Query Only" property of non-updateable items to "True".
    Is it possible to do something like that in ADF BC?
    Thanks
    Thanks for answer.
    When I set "updateable" property to "Never", that attribute is protected from any change.
    I'm sorry for incomplete usecase.
    I have set up a list of value on that attribute, because it is a lookup field for another table and I need to get an ID from that table.
    Basically, I need that attribute to be updateble for BC, but not for database.
  • Cannot modify more than one base table through a join view
    hi guys, my current problem is that i have a datablock based on a view, now all the fields bar 1 are updateable, but this one field that is obtained through a join is displayed, the user can enter data in this field which then pupulates other fields which are required, but this specific field should not be updated. Is there an option to state this as i keep getting the error:
    cannot modify more than one base table through a join view
    Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
    the user can enter data in this field which then pupulates other fields So, using the value of "this field" you then query the rest of the fields? Can you show us the code you use to populate the rest of the fields?
    but this specific field should not be updatedHave you tried setting the "Query Only" property of the field to "Yes" and the other DML properties (Ins, Upd, Del) to No?
    Also, what is your Forms version?
    Thanks,
    Craig B-)
  • Clearing amount is more than tax base in Invoice
    Hi Friends,
    I am facing one issue at the time of Clearing through t.code F-54. I have made payment 10000/- and deduct TDS 1% on Base amount 5000/-. We have booked vendor invoice with same amount 10000/- and deduct TDS 1% on base amount 50000/-. Now we are doing clearing F-54 and simulate the document then it is showing error message " Clearing Amount is more than tax base in Invoice" Message no Message no. 8I000.
    Please give your valuable suggestion on it.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Pankaj
    Hi Pankaj,
    There is problem while clearing throgh F-54 is just because of imbalce between the Down payment and the invoice amount.
    In down Payment for deduction of tds calculation  base is 5,000 and in invoice the calculation base is 50,000.
    F-54 is to clear the vendor invoice with same amount.
    Please check .
    Hope this will help you,
    Thanks,
    I am trying to hook up my Airport Express to my current network and AirPort Extreme but keep getting the same error message: "This version of AirPort Utility doesn’t support this base station. Go to AirPort Service and Support for more information." Any thoughts?
    This sounds as if you have an older AirPort Express that is no longer supported by the newer Mavericks operating system.
    To check and see if  that might be the case, locate the model number on the side of the AirPort Express. It will start with an "A" followed by four numbers. Hard to see in the faint print.....so you may need reading glasses or a magnifying class to see the model number clearly.
    Model numbers A1084 and A1088 of the AirPort Express are no longer supported by AirPort Utility in Mavericks.
    You will need to use a Mac running Leopard, Snow Leopard, or a PC to be able to administer the older AirPort Express.
  • HT1175 how do you set the airport time capsule as the primary base station rather than as a network client?
    how do you set the airport time capsule as the primary base station rather than as a network client?
    The Time Capsule needs to connect to a simple modem......not a modem/router or gateway type of device that is often furnished by Internet Service Providers.
    So, the first logical question here would be......
    What is the make and model number of the device that you call your "modem"?
  • Can I extend a network with an AirPort Extreme Base Station Rather than with an Express?
    Topic title pretty well sums up the question.
    I have a TimeCapsule Base Station with two Expresses for extending the network through the house.
    We're doing a 3 room addition, and there is not a convenient place to put an Express in a wall outlet in the middle room of the addition, but there's a perfect place to put an Extreme on top of a piece of furniture.
    So, can the Extreme act as an "extender" only, in lieu of using an Express?
    Hiya.
    You can absolutely extend a network with an Extreme. I've got a 5th gen. Extreme extending a network created with a 3rd gen. Time Capsule. On the Extreme, you'll have the option to allow (or not) WiFi clients. I recommend having all units updated to the current firmware (7.6.1 as of this writing). Note that extending doesn't work in daisy-chain fashion, meaning that your Expresses or Extremes will each connect to and extend from the TC. As such, you'll want the TC to be in as central a location as possible to offer the best coverage.
