More than half of itunes library is no longer accessible
I use my itunes library everyday. Today, all was well, tonight however, more than half of my library has an ! next to the songs and says the file cannot be found. I can't find the songs on my computer, help!
I am having the same problem on my PC. I have copied music files from the mac that is on my network and I have also imported some music from a DVD that was burned. I cannot tell which music isn't playing, but when I click on some of them, an exclamation point comes up and a message flashes on that says that ITunes cannot find the file. It is located in My Music so I don't know why this is happenning. Please help. I am very frustrated with ITunes for Windows...there is no problem with my fiance's Mac, but on my computer this is happenning weekly (I usually erase the files and re-transfer the files and that lasts about a week or so). Ive always loved Itunes, Ive always thought it was the easiest way to build a library, either music, or movies, ebooks or what have you. Now this new "Icloud" comes into the picture and tells me more than half of my digital movies cant be played because my pc isnt HD compatible, I watched every movie i have in my Itunes library before, therfore I am so frustrated, no one seems to have any answers for me, I think most would feel out of hundreds of dollars of digital movies and feel the same way.....I dont buy movies from Itunes but every movie I've ever bought off the shelves at stores that has digital download on it is put in my itunes library. The funniest part of all of it is...Next to all the movies says "Purchased" so obviously they are legit and mine.
I am having a similar problem with iTunes 11 on a Windows 7 box. I was able to rent and play HD movies befor "upgrading" to iTunes 11, however now when I try and rent a movie in HD I get the error: "This cannot be played in HD on this computer. You must rent and watch the HD version on an HD-compatible device. Or, you can rent the SD version and watch it on this computer."
Guess i'll be renting movies from XBox from now on. -

After updating to itunes 11.1 I've lost more than half my music (1,500) songs. To the right of the song there is the the cloud with the arrow pointing down, indicating I can download the songs from the cloud, however when I click on it,nothing happens.SOS!
Further, tracks that I've uploaded from older CDs are gone. Just as an FYI.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the *Previous iTunes Libraries* folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename *iTunes Library* as *iTunes Library (Empty)* and then rename the restored file as *iTunes Library*. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.

I have a 16GB San Disc that when more than half full and trying to transfer the images to the iPhoto library I get the message "communication error". How can I update my computers software to be SDHC compatable? I can buy a card reader but thought an update to the software would fix this problem.

I am not familiar with Flickr, but found their support page at <Flickr Support>. You may get better help there than here. I get the impression that the App is somewhat buggy.

I recently got a brand new MacBook Pro for my birthday (about 4 months ago). Pop ups have been showing up saying that my disk is almost full. I checked to see what was taking up the storage and it just said "other." This "other" stuff is taking up more than half of the space on my Mac. Does someone know how to fix this?
For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation—not the mythical 10%, 15%, or any other percentage. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.

You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside a photo or iTunes library will corrupt the library. Changes to such a library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Ignore any other messages that appear in the Terminal window.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal. -
I seem to have lost all my original playlists and more than half my songs. How do I get them back, where did I go wrong?
If I was to press "restore" does this wipe everything off my library? I always thought that you could never loose songs? That they were always stored somewhere
in there. Please help,If those tabs aren't in History > Recently Closed Tabs or Windows then they are probably lost.
You can try to search them in the History if you haven't bookmarked them.
Using the "Show my windows and tabs from last time" setting is a more reliable way to restore session data.

You can view the purchase history on your account via a computer's iTunes : if you log into your account via the Store > View Account menu option you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it, click on that and you should then see a list of your purchases.

TS1702 why can't i update the app more than 50mb from itune but can throught wifi?
I tried to update Apps more than 50mb through itune, but found the Apps which are needed to be update are mark "Downloaded" in iTune store. Of course if the Apps mark "Downloaded" are not able to do anything with it. On the other hand, I can simply use wifi to update the Apps, more than 50mb, throught my iphone instead of iTune. Is there any problem with iTune or something wrong with my phone?

backed up t my imac, told it to restore software, thought i would get my apps back. where are they? phone says facebook still there, but i don't know where as there is no icon! can't find the "search" command place either. i miss my instagram.i downloaded the file iPhone4,1_7.1.2_11D257_Restore and saved it on desktop..then opened itunes. Pressed Shift button (using windows) and clicked update button, selected the file from desktop and updated.

When I import a cd with more than one artist itunes shows each artist's song separately and won't group the album as a whole - this is incredibly frustrating something that Windows media player doesn't do. Does anyone have a simple cure for this annoyance?

Suddenly, time machine is very slow. Used to take up a minute and now more than half an hour. Does anybody know how this can happen? Indexing the back-up disk is off, but Timde Machine keeps on indexing!

I am designing CR for Clinical Laboratory.
I have multiple page footers in Crystal Report. Those are suppressed and Suppress Blank section is also checked.These page footers are conditionally (When TestId= X) un suppressed in my report. (For Example when Test Id=18 Suppress is false for Page Footer1 and similarly for other page footers.)
It is working fine. But report have blank space (more than half ) in bottom of page.
please help me.When I suppressed it unconditionally. It works fine. But I need them suppress conditionally.

My MacBook Air shuts down when its more than half way charged and won't turn on unless I plug it in to the adapter? Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
If you really do have a Mid 2013 Mac Air model then it is still in warranty, as the standard Apple warranty is one year from date of purchase. So take it into an Apple store and have it diagnosed and fixed under the warranty. There is some type of hardware problem that only Apple can fix.

The "other" portion of the usage on my iPhone 4 takes up more than half of my space. I have no music, now no apps, dangit and I have no email, calendar and even my contacts are gone since I reset and "restored" my iPhone, still "other" is more than half full. I can't fit what I want on my phone. Help
Other is usually around 1 GB...
A ' Large Other ' usually indicates Corrupt Data...
First Try a Restore from Backup... But... if the Large Other Persists, that is an Indicator of Corrupt Data in the Backup... Then a Restore as New is the way to go...

Guys, I found another user and what he said to do worked!!! I have copied the information below:
This was 1 of the things that happend to me too, the other one was that at the bottom of the itunes page were it says all the memory info, it marked that I had over 3gb of other memory wich I didn't.
Anyways what I did was to unmark the calendar, contacts etc. ( so that they wont sync with the computer ), pressed apply, then I marked all of them again, apply again and for last I pressed Sync wich is at the bottom right coner by the apply botton.
I'm not sure that had anything to do with it but it worked, my music appeard both of my itunes playlists and the ones I bought in itunes. Also the other memory dissapeard and it's all good.
I'm not sure this will help you but thats my 5 cents, if the problem continues its better to call customer service and ask for a technician.
