More time to answer the phone

How do I get my Droid to give me more than about 15 seconds to scramble to answer the phone?  Where is the setting and can I make it as long as, say, 1 or 2 minutes?

There is no setting for this. I think I have seen a way to change the frequency that your phone polls the towers but I don't remember how and it involves accessing hidden menus an therefore cannot be discussed in this forum.

    It takes an enormous amount of patience and time to get through to a qualified person.
    My Samsung S5 was locked out and needed a factory reset. Including attempts to achieve this locally, it took over an hour before my problem was even addressed.
    You may be interested in my journey to a very good technical support person.
    First I called the local sales person who had given me his personal business card with the friendly advice to call me with any questions. No answer at about 8:30 am when the business was open. His voice mailbox was full.
    Then I called the local store where I had purchased the phone. The person who answered the phone had learned all the proper stock phrases, but was not familiar with the issue, stated that there were no customers in the store, and I should go there in about an hour when there would be more staff. He suggested dialing *411 from my phone (which was locked). Then he gave me a number to call Verizon, which he had to look up, and it took a minute or so. The number was (removed). That is an internal number for employees and contractors and requires a code to access, obviously not designed for customers' use. He finally cut me off by stating that there were a number of customers in line waiting for his attention!
    After researching all my papers I found 800-922-0204 on my bill. The automated message suggested a hold time of 5 minutes, it took 20 minutes for a Customer Service Representative to pick up, and then I was referred to technical assistance. The hold time was announced to take 5 minutes, after 12 minutes I finally was connected.
    Fortunately I had my computer set up for Skype on a loudspeaker, and was able to do some other paperwork while waiting.
    Persistence was rewarded by having the good fortune to be connected to a very experienced, qualified and patient technical support staff with the name of Thomas (removed). He solved my problem, answered my questions during the process of resetting the phone, and gave an example of courteous and kind customer service that I had never experienced before when dealing with any major internet company.

    Got myself in a terrible situation here: after installing and removing 'Switch Off' program my e61's internal timer stops when the phone is off. I mean, if I switch it off at 23.00 and switch it back on at 08.00, the time will still be 23.00. That's a total disaster I have here and I tried to reset the phone and uninstall everything but nothing happened- still the same problem. Any ideas?

    It sounds like you are listening to iTunes Radio and it stops shortly after you start listening. I recommend starting by signing out of your iTunes account in Settings > iTunes & App Stores. Then close all the running apps on the device:
    iOS: Force an app to close

    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it.
    When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue by signing back in to your account, and testing again:
    iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

    I bought a new IPad on Mrarch 29 in Atlanta, the following week when In Jacksonville, Florida owner to the St. Thomas store ther and request an exchange, the battery was never charged at 100%, and it was not lasting more than 6 hours. They exchanged the IPad . Last Friday I traveled back to Europe, and the iPad was lost, or stolen. I'm not sure if it was taken from my carry over or it dropped from the exterior pocket, that I found open. I do not have the serial number of the one that was given to me in Florida. I did try calling the store, but When requesting to talk to an specialist, no body answers the phone. what can I do to find the serial number?

        I apologize for the problems you've since the update codemeisterbob. The developer intends for the update to enhace the phone's function. Let's make sure settings are correct. From your phone screen access the Phone app, the from the Dialer Tab, select the Menu icon. Then, select Settings, check for the answer settings to make sure you get the option you want.

    In Kitkat you have to click and drag to the right when you see the "pulsing" dotted circle.  Then a green (or red) dot will show up. Drag to the green dot and release. 
    I had the same problem the first two phone calls, until I figured it out.  Would be nice if they had warned us beforehand.

    It sounds like you are unable to make or recieve phone calls because the screen goes black. I would start by quitting all the running apps on the device:
    iOS: Force an app to close
    Double-click the Home button.
    Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
    Swipe the app up to close it. 
    When you have done that restart the device and test the issue again:
    iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    If that does not resolve the issue, I would use the troubleshooting in the following article, named:

  • Internet cuts off everytime I answer the phone

    Everytime I answer the phone, my Internet cuts off.  When I hang up the phone, the Internet comes back and I can connect.  I did not have this problem until we had the TV's connected to Fios.

    You don't say so but I am guessing you are using a 2.4 GHz cordless home phone and a wireless connection from your router for your PC(s). If so, usually the easiest fix is to log into the router and change the channel that the router is using for wireless for your PC. I think by default the router is set to automatically pick the channel to use; just change the setting to use one of these channels: 1, 6, or 11. Depending on the activity in your area you may have to try all of those to find the one that works best. For me, I found that channel 1 works best with my cordless phone and my neighbor's wireless internet, but your experience may be different.

  • Need a simpler way to answer the phone!

    The iPhone 4s requires 1 of 2 things to answer a phone call, depedning on whether the phone is locked or not.  If the phone is unlocked, I'm presented with a couple of buttons to accept or reject the call.  If the phone is locked, I'm required to swipe a slider on the display to answer the call.
    There are a couple of problems with these UI behaviors.  First, if one has gloves or mittens on, the touch screen doesn't work and one has to take off one's gloves to use the display and answer a call.  The second problems is that in many cases, swiping a slider requires two hands - one to hold the phone and one to swipe the slider.  If the phone isn't locked, the situation is a bit better, since pressing a button on the display can be done one-handed, more easily than moving the slider.  I could set auto-lock to "never" so the slider doesn't come show up, but this also keeps the display on and runs down the battery rather rapidly.  So ideally, I need:
    1.  A way to use the Home button to answer calls.  Our iPhones live in Otter Boxes and it takes intent to actually press this button.  It's not easy to do it by accident.
    -- OR --
    2   A way to auto-dim the display after a set period of time without auto-locking the unit.  This would be a 2nd best solution, since I'd much rather just push the Home button to answer calls.
    Maybe there are some apps that can help with this.  Any solutions will be appreciated.

    I'm not sure why you expect a touch screen phone to work like a basic flip phone. If that sort of feature is important to you, touch screen phones are not the device for you. It sounds as if you failed to consider what features were important to you and then properly research your phone purchase. While it's possible Apple may add other buttons to the phone in the future, there is no indication that current phones will ever be answerable any other way (the same is true of every Android phone I've used as well, by the way). So, you can either decide that the many other features that an iPhone has that your old LG didn't are worth this small inconvenience or you can return/sell the iPhone and go back to a phone with buttons.
