Qustion: Is the iPhone a real PDA... as good as say a Trio?
Now that the iPhone has 16GB can this device be used as a real PDA?
I'm looking for a bottom line answer / solution...
NO, the iPhone is NOT a full-featured PDA phone.
The biggest lack is a resident To-Do list which is something most Treo and WM users regularly use; and the inability to sync any notes or memos or documents from your iPhone to your desktop -- the other major PDA feature that makes it a no-go for most business users.
That being said, I have always used top of the line PDA WM smartphones, and I have managed to find workaround for almost all of the problems with the exception of document and spreadsheet use. But that is where my instant-on macbook pro comes in anyway.
Typical PDA features that are also on the iPHone:
Calendar
Contacts
Internet
e-Mail
Basic Typical PDA features that are sorely lacking on iPHone
Tasks/To-Do list that is sync-able
Sync-able Memos
Document reading/writing
Spreadsheet reading/writing
Advanced PDA features missing on iPhone
Media streaming
No flash on internet sets

Looking for a bottom line answer / solutionI'd say that it certainly will become an excellent PDA. Note that I say, "will become" because it currently falls short in a few areas, specifically in its applications (like no ToDo manager or a Notes application that syncs.) Many hope that the forthcoming Software Development Kit (SDK) will resolve this as well as providing new applications.
On the plus side, the IPT is a "real" computer running BSD UNIX, so the potential for applications is huge. And WiFi, once you get it working, is absolutely stellar. Safari is simply amazing because it is a true browser. I've tried LOTS of PalmOS browsers, and frankly, they all suck in comparison.
And don't get caught up by the 32GB hype. It really all depends on how much you want to store. If your media library (music, videos, photos) is large, then obviously you will need to buy accordingly, but applications and application data space realistically should be quite small in comparison. Compare it tp current PalmOS devices have memory measured in MB, not GB: Z22=32MB, E2=32MB, TX=128MB, Treo=128MB, Centro=64MB. The iPod Touch starts at 8GB. Now granted, the OS is much larger by comparison, and media files take up lots of space, but still, based on my experience from playing with a jailbroken IPT, we are talking about applications that literally take up from a few KB to a couple MB.
Just understand that what you buy now does have limitations, but you are also buying potential. It's a gamble in that we really don't know where development will go. But I firmly believe that if this takes off, it could blow the doors off of all current PalmOS PDA offerings.
I'm currently using it as my PDA of choice, and am patiently awaiting what the SDK has to offer. -
I performed an iOS 7 software update on my iPhone yesterday, and now the phone is not working at all. The iPhone screen shows to connect to iTunes to restore. I've have done this, and still the iPhone is not working. What going on?
I have no idea what may have caused your MacBook to stop working, but from your description it kind of sounds like it may have started before you ran Software Update and installed the new Apps. Just the general slow feeling and bugginess is what tips me off. You said that you weren't sure if you had closed all open windows, that doesn't matter if the computer restarts itself. It automatically closes all other open applications when restarting.
As to your data being retrievable, if when you take it in they do a fresh install of the OS, then no, it will not be unless you want to pay several thousand dollars to a software retrieval company.
I am glad to hear that you have taken into the Apple Store to get it fixed, and that you have all of your purchased music backed up to your iPod. You should be able to just transfer it all back to iTunes once you get your computer back should it be necessary.
As a side note, the proper place for this topic would probably in the MacBook forums, not iTunes since there is no evidence that iTunes started the issue. -

Sometimes the text fields automatically get locked. please check whether the fields are locked, if so unlock the text fields.

all the pictures in my document all of the sudden disappear and I got a message saying images were deleted. A box is left in place of each picture.
I did it. By relocated all the songs. Then did my usual sync. Now , all the songs were synced to my Iphone now.:)

I clicked the button to sync with my ipod touch, because i thought it would give me all my picture and notes, which it did, but it also took away facetime and all the other software that the iphone 4s comes with. I also lost all my contacts. I dont care if i end up losing my pictures and notes, i just want my iphone back to the way it was when i bought it. I'm restoring it now, but it says its going to take 6 hours..I dont know if this is right or not.. help?
It can't do that by itself. You had to click through several prompts telling it to restore it from a backup of an old phone for that to happen.
If the phone was not backed up to iCloud before this happened, or to another computer, then the data is gone. There is no way to recover it. -
Based on all of the rumors, some people apparently have the iPhone 4. If so, give me some details. How's the battery life on it and the scoop on everything? Pics please?
Iphone, i know they need to ship it to your accounts address so if thats ur home ur ok. But overall with how much drama this phone is making i think trying to call cust service for change of shippin add will cause more trouble than its worth.

Unlocking the iPhone has absolutely nothing to do with resetting the device and erasing all content. If you want your device unlocked from your carrier, you must contact the carrier to see if that carrier unlocks devices, and what you must do to qualify.

Just got the iPad 3 which is our first and we were messing around with FaceTime between this and our iPhone 4s. The problem was we can FaceTime the mobile but we kept getting a message flag that the iPad wasn't available.
After much deliberation and googling we have managed to get the iPad to at least ring when we FaceTime it from the iPhone but the new problem is it rings for half a second giving no one a chane to answer.
Can anyone suggest anything else?
So far we have checked in setting that all sounds are enabled, put slide switch to mute then flicked the mute button up and down on the side of the iPad above the volume and also changed the DNS numbers on both mobile devices to ensure they sync but I am still having the same problem.

When will Itunes store reopen?
It seems to be closed right now due to some announcement of the Iphone 5 and all and redesign. Is it going to open back up for purchasing tomorrow or anytime soon?If you're seeing a blank iTunes Store, see this support article:

If that does't help, try resetting Winsock. This has solved the problem for some people, at least.
1) Click on your start menu.
2) Go to accessories
3) Run the Command Prompt application. For those with Vista or Windows 7, right click on Comman Prompt and choose "run as administrator".
4) Once it opens, type in the following command...
netsh winsock reset
5) hit Enter and it should say something like Winsock reset successful.
6) Reboot your computer and try the iTunes Store again.
