Moshi Accessories Compatibility with new Macbook Pro with Retina Display

Will the Moshi Palmguard, Clearguard and iVisor Pro work on the new Macbook Pro with Retina Display?

When you contacted Moshi & asked them, what did they say?

  • If I buy a new MacBook Pro w/ Retina Display is OSX Mavericks Preinstalled? Or we should pay separately for the OSX Mavericks.

I was planning to buy a Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display. I was kinda confused if the MacBook Pro has OSX Mavericks pre-installed or we should buy it separately? Pls. Reply ASAP... We will buy it this Christmas Season 2013... Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The latest MacBook Pro is only compatible with OS X Mavericks, so it comes with OS X Mavericks. The problem comes with older MacBooks Pro, because they may come with Mountain Lion or OS X Mavericks.
As OS X Mavericks is already installed, you do not need to do anything to get it. Also, OS X Mavericks is free of charge

  • Will bootcamp work well with new MacBook Pro 15-Retina?

Am I going to have any serious limitations if I bootcamp the new MacBook Pro 2012 with Retina display?
How will Windows 7 (or 8) look on the Retina display?
Will the bootcamp installation provide Nvidia drivers for dedicated graphics chip?
    Any other limitations?

I just loaded win7 via bootcamp on the macbook pro retina and after you install the bootcamp drivers, you can actually scale all the way up to 2880x1800.  Text is obviously smaller but if you set the text scaling to 150% it is readable - still on the small side.   Everything seems to work after you install the bootcamp drivers. There is a nvidia control panel that you can access to adjust settings as well.  Like within OS X, you can drive the retina display plus 2 external monitors and have all 3 displays functioning.  There are 2 things that are a bit quirky - 1) the backlit keyboard always turns back on for me after I reboot even though I turn it off before rebooting and 2) it gets toasty - I installed core temp and with all 3 screens going, and just running Windows Update and browsing the web, cpu temps got up to 195F.  Lowering the screen resolution and unplugging the external monitors seem to bring this down to 145 or so so it seems it's related to the nvidia gpu pushing the extra pixels to the various displays.  It definitely runs much cooler under OS X.

  • Can you install Windows 8.1 Pro using Parallels on a new MacBook Pro without retina display?

I am starting a graduate school program and I would like to purchase a MacBook Pro. The options for the non-retina display fit my needs best, but it sounds like the resolution requirements for Windows 8.1 Pro do not match the MacBook Pro without retina. I need Windows to run a statistics program (SAS) and ArcGIS for mapping. Any thoughts or experience installing Windows 8.1 Pro on MBP without retina?

The native res on my 13-inch non-Retina is 1280x800. You might check with Parallels support or their forums to see if this is a problem.
If you go with the non-Retina 13-inch, I'd recommend getting 8GB RAM (standard is 4GB) because Win emulators need a fair bit of memory.

  • Brand new MacBook Pro w/Retina Display, PSE11 looks like a mess, bad resolution, pixelated fonts and pictures, is there a fix for this?  This is a major, major issue for me as I use PSE all...the...time!  Thx.

Just purchased a brand new MBP, and all programs look awesome on it except the one software program where crisp display is required - PSE11.  I really need to know my options, is this a fix in the near future?  Is PSE12 retina display friendly?  Any other options?  Thank you.

I am not a Mac user, but your problem is the same with other HDPI high resolution displays.
See that discussion on the feedback forum:

Nobody can tell if future versions will solve the problem, but don't expect a fix for PSE12.

I completely disagree about the 'crisp display' requirement.  Photo editing on computers has its own requirements which do take into account the practical resolution of the display, its size and viewing distance and the fact that you have to work alternatively on the whole image or the pixel level. Working comfortably without straining your eyesight means a lot of things including display size and viewing distance (good : 24 to 27" at 80 - 100 cm) with optimal resolution : 1920 x 1200; good colour fidelity and absence of reflections.
If you compare side by side HDPi vs more standard displays, you won't see the difference in a normal editing session, only if you look closely for a long time at a still image.
Standard displays are crisp enough, don't be fooled by the marketing trick of the higher figures. Even 1920 x 1200 resolution is more than enough for a 15" display. Spend the price difference on a good and comfortable. external display. Make use of the shortcuts to quickly zoom and pan in your images.

Yes you can shutdown as many times per day as you like
Yes you can use it plugged in even if the battery shows 100%, as per Apple guide on batteries here: http://www.apple.com/batteries/notebooks.html
They recommend you use the battery and allow it to drain to below 40% of capacity atleast once a month to in their words 'keep the juices flowing' and for longterm storage where you won't be using the device, they recommend you unplug it and let it drain to about 50% before shutting it down and not using it for a long period of time ie: 6 months

  • Brand new Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display Froze?

I got the 2.6 GHz MBP Retina Display not even 3 days ago and it just froze a little while ago.  I had one browser window open (on a wiki) and the software updater was downloading additional GarageBand instruments and loops when my screen just suddenly froze; command+option+esc didn't do anything, the track pad wasn't responsive, and none of the other buttons appeared to be doing anything, either, so I eventually just held the power button until the computer shut off.  I turned it back on after a few seconds and it booted up just fine and no error messages popped up, and my browser window restored itself.
A couple of other possibly notable details are that I had just finished installing the latest system software update for MBP or Lion (I can't remember which) not even half an hour earlier, and I also had it plugged in to help the download.
The computer seems to be working just fine now, but I'm still worried because I haven't experienced a mac freeze since that boat anchor model of a G3...  Is this something that I should take my computer to the store for?  >_<
    And I appreciate any feedback!

Thank you all, I appreciate the feedback!  While I haven't had any of those other problems, I'll definitely keep an eye out for any other suspicious behavior.  Just to be safe, I'll call my store tomorrow and ask them if they think it's safer to replace it or not.
I think I'm just extra nervous because I'm going through grad school and cannot afford to buy a new one. >_<
    But thank you all again!

  • I'm running Windows7 on parallels desktop on my new MacBook Pro 13" retina display and I am getting a blue screen with error "bad pool banner". Any help in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.

Can anyone help to resolve the "bad pool banner" issue please?

Did you try the Parallels site, since it is Parallels you are having troubles with?

  • Extract data off a broken MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2012?

    Hi,,,
I had a problem with my MacBook Pro 15" Retina Display Mid 2012  - display and something ending with logic being broken = black screen. Since is was over £1000 to fix it, i decided to buy a new Macbook pro with Retina Display 16gb ram, 512gb.
Now, what is the best way to retrieve the data out off the old macbook pro SSD? If I open the computer and take it off, how do i connect it to my new mac? is there a cable to connect to the SSD, as i searched and can't find. Really need to transfer all my files that is inside the old mac to the new one.
Thank you in advance for the help

Remove the SSD from the old MBP and put it in an external USB enclosure. Connect to your new MBP and transfer your files. You can find a good enclosure at OWC.

  • Keep Macbook Pro w/Retina Display?

So I recently went out and purchased (not even a week ago) a Mid Tier, Mid 2014
Macbook Pro with retina Display 13' because of my previous Macbook Pro 13, mid 2012
base model had reached the end of its life cycle.
Or so I thought. I mustered up the courage and took it in to the local Apple Store to get it
check out since it had display issues,  and they ran their test said it was fixable,
so I took the leap and had it repaired.A few days later it turns out they repaired a the logic board,
plus the HDD, and the display at no extra cost. So old machine is back to working condition
Now that I have the old machine back in my possession, I'm not sure if they new
Macbook Pro w/retina display was worth the buy since they old one is fixed.
So would it be wise to keep the older one, and return the newer one.
Or just keep the new one and sell the other one since problems could always arrive after
    the 90 warranty period?

I would keep the Retina display model and sell the older one.

  • Can "Sims 3" and its' expansions pack be played on the Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display?

I am thinking about purcashing the new Macbook Pro w/ Retina Display. I would like to know if  "Sims 3" and its' expansions packs are playable on this mac with the assistance of an Apple USB Superdrive.

Yes, The Sims 3 and all its expansions are perfectly playable on the MacBook Pro with Retina display (though I don't recommend installing it using Remote Disc as it will take a couple of hours at best to completely install everything).
Playing it at 2880 x 1800 makes everything look great... except for the incredibly small UI elements. The game looks slightly fuzzy at 1440 x 900, which is to be expected given how Apple handles scaling with the Retina display. If you can't live with the fuzziness, you'll have to find a happy medium between 1440 x 900 and 2880 x 1800. And hey, if you decide you can play it at 2880 x 1800, more power to you!

  • HT1338 When trying to update getting (error surle error domain error-1100). It started yesterday, any help would be great. I have Mountain Lion 10.8.1 on a new macbook pro with retina display.

When trying to update getting (error surle error domain error-1100). It started yesterday, any help would be great. I have Mountain Lion 10.8.1 on a new macbook pro with retina display.

There are many people suffering from this problem right now (including me). It appears to be a server issue. Just wait and try checking for updates again tomorrow.
Some things I have heard indicate that this may be a regional problem, though what parts of the world are affected I don't know yet. A few people have been helped by deleting the following preference file (paste the path into the Go -> Go to Folder window in the Finder to locate it), though most have not:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.SoftwareUpdate.plist
Note that if you are trying to download iTunes 10.7, that can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1576
Also, note that there is no reason to be anxious to get it, as the only thing added in iTunes 10.7 is compatibility with iOS 6, which will not be available until the 19th, and the new iPhone, which will not be available until later as well. The new iTunes that was announced is iTunes 11, which is also not yet available.
