Most albums missing album art on iPod Touch after updating to iOS 7

Hi there,
I updated my 5th-gen iPod Touch to iOS 7 yesterday.
As the activation servers were overloaded for most of the afternoon, the update failed for me and my iPod touch ended up wiped and in recovery mode.
I installed a blank iOS 7 and then restored my settings from the previous day's iCloud backup.
I then reuploaded all my music from iTunes to the iPod.
Most of the album art is missing from the iPod and it's making me very sad. All the album art is visible in iTunes, so this is rather confusing. There seems to be no consistency to it, between albums I bought on iTunes or albums I bought elsewhere and ripped to MP3 and added to my iTunes library, or albums for which I got the art directly from iTunes or by adding it myself.
I'm using a PC with Windows 8 and the latest version of iTunes, if this matters.
Any ideas?

That happens sometimes
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Unsync all music and resync
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • I restarted my iPod Touch while updating to iOS 5.1, now it's frozen.

This morning I began to update my iPod Touch 4th gen to iOS 5.1. As I was walking out the door, I realized it hadn't finished updating yet, but I needed to get to school. So I restarted the iPod by holding the home button and sleep button for a few seconds, thinking it would just go back to how it was before I started updating so I could update later when I had wifi. This restarted it, and the normal Apple logo screenappeared, but now it is completely frozen with gray and blue lines across the screen. Is there anything I can do to save my iPod?

You likely corrupted the iPod by interrupting the update process.  Try connecting to iTunes and restoring it there. If iTunes does not recognize the device, try connecting it in recovery mode using the instructions in this Apple support document.

  • Can't add songs to iPod Touch after updating to v2.0

I just updated my iPod Touch to v2.0 and now I cannot load any songs onto it. When I drag songs or playlists over the Touch in the iTunes Devices list they just bounce off. Everything else seems to be acting properly. Contacts, Photos, etc. sync/update just fine.
I had this problem before after updating to Leopard. I can't find the thread I used then. It walked you through a process of deleting some file in the User>>Library folder before reinstalling iTunes. Unfortunately I don't remember which file(s) need to be tossed.
Anybody know the sequence or have a link to the earlier thread?
    Thanks...
    John

    An update...
Having nothing left to lose, I trashed iTunes and reinstalled it. Now I can at least sync Playlists. I'm not sure why I can't drag songs onto the iPod touch.
Still waiting for help on that one...

  • 3rd gen iPod touch after update to iOS5

When playing music on my iPod touch, if you rotate to cover flow ,music stops and the screen goes blank then back to home screen.
Also slide bar for power off doesn't always work as fluidly as before update.
My iPod touch worked perfectly before update to iOS5.
I have the latest iTunes software on my iMac.
Anyone else have this problem ? How can I fix it ?
Have tried reloading update and that hasn't helped.
    Please help.

If your WiFi is greyed out try the steps here to see if they will fix it: iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim

  • Can't access all of music on ipod touch after update.

When plugged in to computer, i can see all the files (3000 ) in iTunes. only 108 available to play directly through iPod w/o computer... What gives? just updated to iOs6.
    thanks in advance.

i am having a similar problem with my iPod touch 4g.
    (i have windows7 64-bit)
when i plug my pod into my computer a warning sign pops up and reads:
"iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPod. Go to the summary tab in iPod preferences and click restore to restore this iPod to factory settings"
I've already followed this direction twice and it works the first time i plug it in after the restoration. But after the second time the same message (above) appears. i do not understand what is going wrong.
any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
    (im getting sad lol)
    p.s
after the warning message pops up. it doesn't show any information except for the version and the serial number and tells me that its "up to date".

    Please help...

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • Help! Cannot transfer music back on Ipod touch after update

Ok, I was doing an update on my ipod. Everything was going wonderful.
I transferred all music to my computer. I had alot of music that i purchased on the actual device. After the update I tried
putting back all music. The music that I purchased off the device would not transfer back over. That is alot of music.
HELP! The only music that will go back on is the ones that were on the computer or purchased on the computer, not the device

Yes. Everything was purchased on the same itunes on account just on the actualy Ipod device.

  • My iPod touch, after updating, doesn't allow purchased applets to start!

I double click on the downloaded free and purchased applets and they do not start.. they 'blink' momenterely then.. nothing. The default applets work perfectly, only, again, the downladed ones, .. girlfriend's furious after insisting on updating the OS..

If it doesn't work, there is obviously no way you can get on to the iPod to fix it.
There is but one hope: Does your iPod show up on the Devices menu in iTunes?
If no, then too bad. You need a new one, but Apple will discount/replace it for you.

  • I can't sync my iPod touch 4 after updating to ios 5

I can't sync my iPod touch after updating to ios 5.
    Why?
The problem is it keeps backing up for long time and I did nothing. Help me!!

Some more information, please.  What happens when you attempt to sync?  Any messages?  Etc., etc., etc.

  • Why won't my album artwork sync to my iPod Touch but it shows up on iTunes?

Why won't my album artwork sync to my iPod Touch but it shows up on iTunes?

Ok I had this problem, and for me at least what happened was that not all the album artwork was attached to all songs on the album.  So if you right click one of the albums you are having an issue with, the click artwork tab, and go through each song on the album, if it is missing from any of them it will not sync properly to any device.  Find the songs that have the artwork, and then right click to copy it, then go to songs without it, and right click in the blank box and paste it in there.  Then once finished with any issues you are having sync iPod, this should fix the problem.  It worked for me, and it was unbelievably frustrating to know I have the artwork, but it wasn't showing up anywhere on the iPod.  Hopefully this fixes the issue for you, like it did for me!

  • "medical id" is missing from my health app on my iPod touch 5th gen running iOS 8

Along the bottom of the health app on my iPod touch 5th gen running iOS 8 I am missing the "medical id" that should be the 4th icon on the lower right of the screen

You can't seriously believe users would be *that* idiotic, even on a sue-happy country like the US… And while Apple could get sued, it's not like Apple Legal would lose a case like that; for someone to die in the first place *because of the iPod Touch*, first-responders (be them regular bystanders or medical professionals) would have to be stupid enough to believe they could use it to make calls and not try doing that using instead, duh, a regular phone that they would likely be carrying with them anyway, and for Apple to be in the least bit accountable, the interface would have to misdirect them and make them believe they could in the first place.
Except it doesn't. It never did. The iOS interface, on the iPod Touch, has no references whatsoever to calling functions, be they regular or emergency-related. If you tap a phone number detected by smart filters, you can't dial it (I believe you're offered the option to save it on the Address Book, though), and on the lock screen, there is no “Emergency Call” function (nor would there be such a function on the Health ID page, either). So… I fail to see your point.
And you can't seriously believe Apple would risk, on purpose, a lawsuit by the family of someone who, having both an iPhone *and* an iPod Touch (not very likely, I know, but please bear with me) dies because s/he is carrying only the iPod Touch and unwittingly (but understandably) expects *all* Health and the potentially *life-saving* Health ID info to sync across devices via iCloud.
Nope, this is an oversight by Apple devs, and a massive one at that.
P.S.: A massive legal/functional disclaimer, such as “Warning: This device cannot connect to the cellular network. For emergency calls please use an appropriate device” or something along those lines would pretty much exempt them from any legal responsibility, while still enabling a life-saving feature.

  • How do I recover lost  or missing music on my ipod touch

How do I recover lost or missing music on my Ipod touch? Restoreing it did not work.

    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • IPod Touch 4g upgraded to iOS 5; now 80% of music won't play (even in iTunes)

I saw a lot of related questions, but not this issue:  after updating to iOS 5 on my Touch 4g, 64GB.  most of the music simply won't play.  No error messages, the albums and songs still show, but when pushing play, nothing happens.  The capacity bar on the bottom of iTunes shows the data is still there, but for some
reason, most of the music is affected.  Anyone else experience this?  It's the same whether it's just playing on the device or when I plug it into iTunes and try to play it:  won't budge when I push the "Play" button.  How can I "unlock" my music?  (and no, I chose not to get the 'iCloud' thing when updating the iTunes version to 10.5 or whatever the latest one is; I figured I could add iCloud later when I learned more about it).  I also use Manual instead of Sync.

Altered from original solution from Emily P:
Okay, mine now works here is what I did.
plug in the iPhone, iPad etc
in iTunes select the phone or iPad
Under Summary uncheck "Sync with this....."
Under "Music" uncheck the "Sync Music"
    Sync
Let it remove all the songs, dont worry it will come back no problems.
Once that is all done all the music on the phone or ipad should be gone.
Now check them both back on, sync, and everything should copy back onto it.
    Working now !!!!!

  • My iPod touch 3G stuck with iOS 4.2.1 is it possible to upgrade it?

    I have iPod touch 3G 8GB with iOS 4.2.1..can i upgrade it?
because everytime i check for update..the iTunes says its up-to-date..
i use this ipod mostly for music but now i wanna play games with it too and most of the games required iOS 4.3 or later..
    please help..
    thx..

I suspect you have a 2G iPod. Those can only go to iOS 4.2.1.
    Identifying iPod models
    iPod touch (3rd generation)
iPod touch (3rd generation) features a 3.5-inch (diagonal) widescreen multi-touch display and 32 GB or 64 GB flash drive. You can browse the web with Safari and watch YouTube videos with Wi-Fi. You can also search, preview, and buy songs from the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store on iPod touch.
The iPod touch (3rd generation) can be distinguished from iPod touch (2nd generation) by looking at the back of the device. In the text below the engraving, look for the model number. iPod touch (2nd generation) is model A1288, and iPod touch (3rd generation) is model A1318.
A real 3G can go to iOS 5.1.1 and that requires iTunes version 10.5 or later on the computer.
