Most appropriate audio filter?

Hi once again all,
You've been superb with advice thus far, so I thought I'd give my first port of call another try..!
I've just uploaded a sample clip to YouTube, purely to give you an idea of the raw audio which my external condenser microphone is picking up on my camcorder.
The high-pitched noise/squeal/not sure how to describe it is often worse than this, and I wondered if you had any suggestions on what filter to use in FCE4 to recduce it as far as humanly possible?! I know it's inevitable to an extent, but the clearer i can get, the better.
I'm using FCE 4.0.1 and importing from a Sanyo HD1A camcorder then converting all clips using Mpeg Streamclip to Quicktime with Apple DV-PAL compression. The audio appears as stereo pairs.
Any suggestions would be useful. Thus far have tried with a 3-band equaliser to reduce the high frequency to around 8000 with -15 gain, but that doesn't reduce it sufficiently.
Cheers, Sahir

Hi(Bonjour)!
I just compied your movie from youtube and I've applied an parametric equalizer filter with the 6900-(tried 8000 too) hz set to -20 db with Q set to 3 and the tinny wistle vanish.
The 3 band equalizer works too. Try a -20 dB for an hight band set to 8000 hz.

  • Best audio filter for heavy wind noise ?

    Hello everyone
I'd like to know what is the most used audio filter in order to recuce a heavy wind noise without affecting the voices of a conversation in my movie ?
    Thanks

I don't know what people use, but I've always been told that the best way to get good audio is to get it right the first time. Since I'm no sound guy, I struggle to get anything to sound good.
Export your offending Audio to .aiff and pull it into SoundTrack. Go to your Effects on the middle left of your screen and pick SoundTrack Pro>Channel EQ. Drag this into the area under your Effects bin. Then start playing your sound while adjusting the Advanced Dialog.
You can tweak different frequencies and try to pull out the wind. However, wind often is around the same range as voices, so it's going to cause some distortion.
Beyond this, if the wind was really bad it will have caused "popping" that will have mutilated any talking at that moment.
Can you do any looping/re-record the voices? That may be your best bet.
I'm hoping some sound guy comes here and sets me straight and helps you out. Perhaps check the SoundTrack forums....
I'm sorry I'm not more help.

  • Audio Filter missing:  Internal Volume Stereo - corrupt project?

    Hi,
I am getting this error when I open my project. In addition, no media will play in the project either in the sequence window or the source window.
It all appears and will scrub (with no audio), but will not play.
I dug around a bit and I found that there is a known bug with audio from XML's and that is what I am using (convinced my client to migrate from FCP to Premiere - please don't tell me I made a mistake).
Everything worked brilliantly for a week, including the addition of audio filters, and then all of a sudden - bang. No more.
I have painstakingly deleted every audio filter and I am still getting this error. I have also tried a re-install.
Another oddity is that when I try to quit Premiere, it will not quit all the way without a force quit!
I'm running CC 2014 on a brand new mac pro.
    Desperate,
    dw

    Steve and Bill,
I follow your advice, but it did not solve the problem. It is true  that  problems began when I used ZOOM recorder at 98kHz/24 bit in my current project (I already changed ZOOM mode to 48kHz/16 bit), but could this be just a coincidence?
In the meantime I checked the rest of my 16 projects (.prel), which were fine before. To my surprise I found that although all of them were made using EXACTLY the same method, some of them are still OK, but most I can not Playback. The messages appearing are of three types:
    1. "Audio Filter missing: Internal Balance".
    2. "Audio Filter missing: Internal Volume Stereo".
    3. "This type of file is not supported or required codec is not installed".
In one case, when I opened a project the first time, the message was "This type of file is not supported or required codec is not installed", but when I opened it second time it said " Audio Filter missing:Internal Volume Stereo". It seems to be random.
Some projects can be opened, but when I try to Playback  there is no sound.
I am completly lost. Please help.

  • Which audio filter to remove low rumbling sound

Can someone tell me which audio filter is most effective in removing air conditioning rumbling sound from video? I searched older posts but can't find the answer, and I'm not experienced in audio filters. Thanks in advance!

I recommend using the noise reduction tools in SoundTrack Pro. Or, if you want to stay in FCP, use an EQ filter and/or a high pass filter.

  • What Audio filter to use

I just transferred some VHS tapes into FCP and what to adjust the audio. Most of the men voices seem to deep/"basey" (can't think of a better word). I guess I'm looking for a audio filter that would adust the base or treble? Thanks for your help. Loran
    G5 dual 2.5   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   FCP 5.1.2

Hello, thanks for the suggestion. I looked at it and there are at least 25 to 30 sliders. Which ones would you use to make low pitch voices into higher ones.
    Thanks

  • What kind of audio filter would i use.

i need an audio filter that will bring out a distant clapping noise thats you cant even hear during playback. i have raised the dB as high as possible. is there a way to get it heard at all?

Just be aware, that if the audio is very slight and you raise the level .. you will also raise the levels of any surrounding room noise, etc ... so you will get a lot of hiss and maybe even echo. You can also double up the clip to increase the volume but I doubt you would be left with anything useful

  • What monitors are currently most appropriate for print jobs?

Hi, I'm a free lance graphic designer for 20 years already and have always used Aperture Grid CRT Trinitron monitors as the most accurate for creating color jobs for print. I bought my last set of monitors Sony's Multiscan G420 in 2001. While they are still pretty accurate, they are aging and I'm thinking of buying new monitors. At that time - 2001, when I purchased my monitors there were a few other technologies like Shadow mask and LCD which were not good at all for creating graphic design color jobs for print.
I'm not sure if they still sell Aperture Grid CRT monitors anymore and would like to find out what monitors/monitor technology is currently most appropriate for print jobs?
I will greatly appreciate your tips.

I'd go with a Sony, Samsung, or Sharp LCD and use it as a monitor, then professionally calibrate it.
Viola, you have quality, resolution, saturation, accuracy, dependability, all in one

  • Premiere Audio Filter Issues

So I've finished my project, applied audio filters (Denoiser) to get rid of the hissing sound. Worked flawlessly. Sounds great in my project, but once exported the hissing returns at the begining of each new audio clip. The sound gets perfect again after a second or two but reverts to the pre-filter sound each time a new clip comes in.
So is there a fade in-out for the audio filter? I can't find one (and why would one want one). Doesn't matter how I export, to any file type, always the same, brief original audio which gently fades back to the perfect-filtered audio.
Again, sounds perfect all the way through in my project, but not after rendering. Any ideas?

This is a known issue with certain audio filters in PP.  The recommended solution is to process those audio files in Audition instead.
And do file a bug report.

  • What's the best audio filter and settings to eliminate echo?

I shot an interview in a hallway. What's the best audio filter and settings to reduce/eliminate echo?

There isn't one. You will be trying to remove the same frequencies as those you want to keep.
Reshoot it, strategically position some heavy drapes and use close miking such as a lav and reliable monitoring quality headphones.

  • Audio Filter missing . . .

I have experienced a number of crashes (iMac OS 10.75) in my Premiere Pro project + the warning "Audio Filter missing: Internal Volume Mono"  How do I resolve this?  It seems to be a 'project' problem.
    Thanks for your help.

I wish I could supply some help; I am having the same problem (newest version of Premiere Pro CC, just reinstalled in hopes of solving this problem, on a Macbook Pro i7 running 10.8.4 with 16GB RAM. It is rendering my project unusable. Help anyone?

  • Audio Filter missing:  Internal Volume Mono

All of a sudden this error message started popping up
Audio Filter missing:  4:1635083896 1278365011 1802721110  Audio Filter missing:  Internal Volume Mono
Also now my timeline is not working, some tracks are missing volume envelopes and when I scroll up and down it's all messed up and I can't do anything.
    What's happening?
I tried re-installing the latest update CC 2014.1 but no go...
    Help!!

OH man, Im also having loads of other audio issues with this update. Clicks, pops, audio often mutes on it's own. No audio comes through and there's screeching huge noise...ng
Really disappointed with this! Im paying good money for the CC and today alone Ive spent 4 hours trying to figure out these massive issues.
Im using multiband compressor and EQ and the instant I add those to the timeline the troubles begin.

  • What is the most appropriate way to do reversal and reconcile the reversed

    Dear All,
I am facing a problem to reconcile reversal transaction. The scenario as below:
Date 28.04.2008 Company A issue billing to Customer XYZ amount 3,000 MYR
Date 30.04.2008 Company A want to reverse the above transaction.
    Questions:
1.Where is the most appropriate menu path to do the reversal?
    2. If the reversal needs to be done via menu path: Financial module à Reversal Transaction, then how to reconcile both items to ensure system will read as cleared items?
3.The purpose of Question no.2 due to have same result upon executing customer ageing report regardless using Journal Posting tab or
    using Sales Document tab.
Thank you in advance for your kindly reply.

For the function you mentioned :reverse transaction
    under the Financial module
you could refer to note:1004113 for more detailed information
To update a journal entry such that it will auto-reverse at a later date follow the steps below:
    1.  Go to Financials -> Journal Entry.
    2.  Open the journal entry that needs to be reversed.
    3.  Place a tick in the box 'Reverse' and a new field for the reversal
         date will be displayed.
    4.  Enter the date when this journal enrty is to be reversed and click
         on 'Update'.
For the customer aging report ,there is one case that could explain the difference between 'by journal posting' and 'by sales document':
In case an Invoice has been partially cleared by an Incoming
Payment, the transactions created by these documents will be displayed
as fully open when you run the report using Due Date by Journal Post.
However, if you run the report using Due Date by Sales Doc., the Invoice
will be displayed with its open amount only.
A common occurrence is that exchange rate differences and/or conversion differences were posted without the user having specified to reverse them at a particular date.
Could you explain more about your case?
    Best Regards
    Helen Sun

  • *** Audio filter to boost low volume?

I have a clip that was recorded at too low of a volume. I would like to now augment this in post. Is there an audio filter that I could apply in FCP that would increase the speaking parts and at the same time reduce the hiss?
    Thanks in advance!

The Dynamic Processor filter can increase volume, but sometimes it's quicker and easier to just duplicate the track [Shift Option drag]. For reducing the hiss I'd recommend the noise reduction process in SoundTrack Pro or applying an EQ filter and reduce the frequencies of the hiss.

  • Audio Filter NORMALIZE AUDIO

I have edited on all sorts of NE systems, and have found the Normalize audio filter in all. Does FCP have this feature, or is there any way to normalize (keep all audio levels within the same range.?)
    Please let me Know!!!!
    Thanks

I believe that is in Soundtrack but not infront of my system at the moment.
