  • This is probably the most stupid question ever but..

how do i log out of the apple site on the computer? lolz. i am using the school computer and i dont want to leave and then have my account used.

What "Apple site" are you referring to? If you are referring to the iTunes Store, go to the Store menu in iTunes and choose "Sign Out".
If that's not what you mean, please explain further.
This wouldn't seem to be related to an iPod touch, BTW.

  • Important Questions to ask when developing in Workflow

    Hello All,
      I have two questions.
I am not a Workflow developer, but I've been asked to find out information about creating a Workflow process.
Here is what <b>I</b> need to know: What are important questions to ask the end-user when creating a workflow. What needs to be taken into consideration?
Here is an example of the kind of thing we need to do:
Send an email on a weekly basis to different Project Managers a Summary of Project Charges = (maybe CN41?)
Each Project Manager will have different requirements, so  I guess one question will be: "What info do you want from this report?". What else do I need to know?
My second question is this: I should be able to output this as an Excel, correct? How much can I customize this? I haven't done much SAP -> Excel work. Only when I go to System -> List -> Save -> Local File ->Spreadsheet.
    Thanks for the help.
    Don Fields

    Hello Don!
WF is quite a complex topic and someone could write a book to answer your questions - actually there is already a good book available -> check: Practical Workflow for SAP
    http://www.sap-press.com/product.cfm?account=&product=H950
Looking at your example their might not even be a need for a workflow but rather a job that runs periodically to send the required information via email to project managers.
Workflow is mostly used if user actions are required e.g. confirm, approve, reject a request or notifications need to be sent to someone after an event or user action occured.
Check this link for getting more information on how to download data to excel:

  • Very beginner POI and import question

I am reasearching/playing around with the Jakarta POI. My boss would like to load word docs/xls into the database in binary form - he then wants to display them Read Only to the end users. He suggested that I look into using the POI.
I've been reasearching the forums here and google but I havent found a great example implementing this. Everything I have found is way way over my head. Could someone point me to a very simple example of doing this? Or give me a very basic skeleton of what I would need to do to just open a word doc - I am trying to use this time to teach myself how to use/read the API(poi) - if that makes any sense...
Secondly - while I was reading on POI I ran across this: import java.io.*; // don't ever do this...done to save space I know it says it is to save space but is that because it imports all the classes under IO? I know its a stupid question but I have seen it in other examples and use it in other jsp's... I just copied and pasted so I didnt really know why or what I was doing...
    Source of comment: http://www.onjava.com/pub/a/onjava/2003/01/22/poi.html - Appendix 1/ Example 1

Also wanted to add that my boss would like to store
the file as binary into database, extract the file
from database, change it back to native format in a
temporary directory and then use the POI to present it
    as read only??
Is there any easier way? This still just seems like a
straight forward process being made harder then it
is...I thought i just told you how to do all of that?! You can only really store documents and files etc. as binary in a database column, unless the file is plain text (which these are not) and even then you would lose all of the formatting. So, don't worry about the binary aspect of it, as you will prob be storing the file as a BLOB anyway. You don't have to change the file back to its native format either, as if you have stored a file as binary, and you know the name (most importantly the extension), then when you write the binary to a file of that name, it IS in the original format. You can write a java webDAV client easily with the tools and libraries available in such packages as Jakarta Slide. In the past this API has been... lets just say, hard to grasp... due to documentation problems, delayed features etc. However, the traffic around the project seems to have increased dramatically since I last used it properly. Plus, you can extend this store to manage any kind of document or file.
Oh and by the way, I would suggest you try to do this on the web... basically because IE (as prob with other browsers) can view MS office docs in the browser window itself. Very helpful thing that!
Is this helping you or not?

  • What is most important - processor speed, RAM or flash storage?

My son is in the 9th grade and I'm about to buy a Macbook Air for him.  I have a limited amount of money to spend, and I'd like to get the best value for my dollar.  He will primarily use it in school, for homework, surfing the web, social media, watching videos (not making) and downloading music.  He ocasionally downloads movies, but not often at all.  The most important factor for him is speed.  He is an impatient downloader and web surfer, so the quicker the better for him.  Given this profile, does he need the i7 processor, or will the i5 suffice?  4 GB or RAM, or do I need to bump up to 8GB?  Can I get by with 128 GB of Flash storage, or will that slow the system down too much and I need to go with 256GB?  I'm just not in a position to spend $1800 on a computer.  Also, when he graduates from high school, then buying an upgraded machine is definitely an option, I'm just trying to get him through high school with the needs he has now.
    Thanks!

The larger SSD are up to 400MBs faster due to SSD densities.
however any macbook needs an external HD for large media storage and necessary data redundancy / backups.
128GB is plenty for most everyone,  you need an external HD regardless,  NO SSD is big enough to be used as a mass storage device.
    see here:
Solid State Drive usage premise, or the “more space / upgrade SSD” question
There have been questions posed and positions taken by many people who are trying to use their Macbook Air or Pro’s solid state drive (SSD) as a mass media storage device, for either pictures, videos, massive music collections or all three combined; but this should not be the working premise of a ‘limited’ SSD and its use.
In which, it’s the case of those users with either 128GB, 256GB, or even 512GB of internal SSD space, that have or are running “out of space”, that questions are raised. The immediate premise of some users can sometimes be “(how to / if) upgrading my SSD” when in fact in nearly all instances another approach is the logical and sensible one that needs to be looked into and exercised.
Any Macbook containing a SSD should be idealized as a ‘working platform’ notebook containing all your applications, documents, and weekly or bi-weekly necessary files. All collections of media files such as pictures, music, and videos, unless directly needed should be kept off the notebook and on an external hard drive or likewise. While the ‘working platform’ premise is also the case with larger internal conventional hard drives of 1TB+, its implementation isn't as critical except in terms of data protection.
Realistically, you should at most coordinate roughly 20 to 25% of your total SSD space to all audio-video personal use media (picture / music / video collections), leaving the remaining amount on an external HD.
Nobody should consider any notebook a data storage device at any time under any circumstance, rather a data creation, sending, and manipulation device; and in the case of a SSD, this is more important for purposes of having sufficient working space on the SSD and reducing SSD ‘bloat’ in which cases someone is wrongly attempting to use the SSD space as a large media storage nexus.
The rare exception to the collective usage and premise of SSD use in which a much larger SSD is truly needed are for those in video and photography professions that require both the extremely fast speeds of the SSD and the onboard storage for large and or many video and photography files. However this also falls under the premise of a ‘working platform’ for such peoples rather than the intent of many who are using the SSD as passive and static data storage for media files very infrequently needed or accessed.
All on-notebook data collections should be logically approached as to necessity, and evaluated as to whether it is active or passive data that likely doesn’t need to be on the notebook, allocations of space-percentages to as-needed work and use, apportioning space for your entertainment media, and questioning whether it should it be on the notebook for more than short-term consumption.
Considerations should be made in the mind of any user in differentiating the necessary system data (System hub) comprising the Mac OSX, applications, necessary documents that both must and should be on your internal SSD, and that of the users personal data (Data hub) comprising created files, pictures, music, videos, PDF files, data created or being created and otherwise, that likely unless being used soon or often should be parked on an external hard drive for consumption, or temporarily loading onto the internal SSD.
You both can and should purchase whichever SSD size you need or see fit, but even in the case of the largest of SSD, unless use-considerations are made, and SSD spaces are allocated as should be the case indicated above, one can easily and immediately run into this quandary of “needing more internal SSD space”, in which instance a different approach in usage must then be implemented.
However it is almost always the case, that such large media files are wanted to be stored internally rather than actually needed, in which case the external HD is both prudent as well as necessary. Additionally costs per MB are infinitely less on an external HD than an internal SSD in any consideration of data expansion needs.
    A Professional Example
In the case of a Macbook Air or Macbook Pro Retina with ‘limited’ storage on the SSD, this distinction becomes more important in that in an ever rapidly increasing file-size world, you keep vital large media files, pics, video, PDF collections, music off your SSD and archived on external storage, for sake of the necessary room for your system to have free space to operate, store future applications and general workspace.
You should also never be put in the position of considering “deleting things” on your Macbook SSD in order to ‘make space’. This is especially what your external HD is for.
Professionals who create and import very large amounts of data have almost no change in the available space on their notebooks internal SSD because they are constantly archiving data to arrays of external or networked HD.
Or in the case of the consumer this means you keep folders for large imported or created data and you ritually offload and archive this data for safekeeping, not only to safeguard the data in case your Macbook has a SSD crash, or gets stolen, but importantly in keeping the ‘breathing room’ open for your notebook to operate, expand, create files, add applications, for your APPS to create temp files, and for general operation.
Slim USB3 1TB external hard drive
    External Hard Drives
External hard drives are both extremely cheap and regardless of the size of your internal SSD (or even internal hard drive if the case), you need an external hard drive with your SSD equipped Macbook for several reasons:
    1. Data backup and protection.
    2. Redundancy for important data.
    3. Necessitated ideal space for large media files for collections of pictures, videos, and music etc.
While ever changing in price, typical portable 2.5” external hard drives in USB3 run roughly $65 for 1TB or $120 for 2TB small portable USB3 hard drives. Such drives range in thickness between 5mm and 15mm, with recent improvements in storage of 500GB drives in 5mm profiles.
There is almost no premise in which a small 12mm thick 1 Terabyte USB hard drive cannot be taken along with any Macbook as an external large storage extension inside any Macbook carry case or pouch. Typically such external HD profiles are not much bigger than a deck of cards.
External hard drives are a foregone necessity for purchase with any Macbook for at the very least Time Machine backups, data redundancies, and ideally for large media storage.

  • Laptop editing with Premiere Pro CS4: what are the most important specs

Laptop Editing: What are the MOST important specs?
Hello everybody, I have been a long time lurker, but I decided to join in and share my voice.
I've been editing, for a while now, various projects of various lenghts shot on my HV20, on an IMac using Adobe Premiere Pro. Actually, I bought the CS4 Extended Production Suite last year  thinking that it made sense to be able to edit, do the coloring and effects+ sound all within the same suite.
AND, it came with OnLocation, wich is, I think, a fantastic tool. I really want to be able to record and monitor my future shoots using OnLocation. I've seen how useful monitors and scopes are on set, and the idea of being able to shoot in HD and actually checking the focus on something larger than a few inches is very appealling!
So a laptop is in my future. Now, what are the most important specs?
    I could buy 1) a barely used Macbook pro early 08- 17" HD led display ,4g Ram ddr2 ,nvidia 8600M GT 512 VRAM ,800Mhz BUS, 200G 7200HD
and have enough money left to buy an Apple Display 30" refurb
    OR 2) a new Macbook pro 17, 4 g Ram ddr3, 512 VRAm, 4g Ram ddr3, double procsessors 9400M+9600M GT 512 VRAM, 1066 BUS, 500G 7200HD
and wait for a second display!
Plus, of course, a portable External Scratch Drive on the Express Card. Now, if that fast drive is handling the footage, could'nt I settle for a 5400HD in the laptop,, they seem much less prone to problems-clicking noise, heat-than the 7200, especially in the new unibody model. Is 800 versus 1066 BUS a terrible trade-off? In terms of secondary displays , I've heard less than lukewarm things about the new Apple 24 LED (glossy is no-no for me).
My intentions are to make documentaries and short fictions as well. I make a living as an actor so I don't need to be performing as a director/editor business wise!
I do want to explore that side of the craft, in a professional and enjoyable way though. I know that, in addition to the laptop, I will get a MacPro in a few years.
Thanks a lot for the inputs!

Successful video editing (as compared to tear your hair out video editing) requires at least two hard drives... one for all software and one for all data... some people use 3 drives, with data on one and scratch files on the 3rd drive
I'm not sure about software, but everything I've ever read in this forum says 5400 is NOT fast enough for the data drive
If you want to edit video... you have to buy the hardware that works

  • I have lost track of the number of websites that do not work properly on the iPad without Adobe Flash player which is unsupported. I cannot use retail sites, billing sites and most important of all job application sites. All are missing tabs, links, info

I have lost track of the number of websites which do not work properly on my iPad. They include retail sites, billing sites and most important of all job application sites. They all seem to require Adobe Flash Player which cannot be downloaded onto an iPad. Skyfire does not solve the problem. They all load without vital parts of the site such as tabs, links and correct formatting. Any suggestions?

Most such brower/service combinations have a difficult time working with Flash-based apps and often fail completely. Flash videos are usually the most successful content these browers can handle. You can try the others apps - Puffin, iSwifter, etc - but you may find that none of them work, in which case you will not be able to use your iPad with these sites other than by using one of the various remote control solutions to take over a computer running the full Flash Player.
IMHO, any developer that built a Flash application for a billing or job application site was an idiot, but I know that's out of the control of anyone but the relevant company.
    Regards.

  • MEGA180 Important Questions

I have my MEGA180 on order but I already have some important questions:
    1) This unit provides dual vga outputs. If I install my own AGP 8x card, will the VGA2 output still work? I read in the manual that installing an AGP card will disable VGA1 (default) but it doesn't say anything about the 2nd VGA output connector. I require 2 outputs since I will be connecting to an LCD and my HDTV monitor (using a VGA to Component Video Transcoder)
    2) Will there be performance hits by using the two vga outputs at the same time?
    3) The on-board video card doesn't have any video memory. It will use your existing DDR memory. I will have 512Meg Dual Channel Memory. What kind of performance I can expect from the built-in video card (NVidia NForce Crush18) compared to other AGP cards on the market?
    Thanks for your help!
    Sly

Though I can not provide you with answers specific to the Mega 180, I can give you some more info.
    1) No. As soon as you install an AGP card, the onboard video will be fully disabled from within the BIOS. This is an nForce2 chipset setting. So make sure to get an AGP card with 2xVGA (as most cards have nowadays).
    2) No or not much. Using an nForce2 MoBo myself I haven't encountered performance loss using both VGA outputs.
    3) There's no way to compare the onboard video to an AGP card. AGP cards will have a far out better perfomance then the onboard video. But compared to other onboard video solutions around, like Xtreme Graphics, the nForce solution is far better and has far better performance.
It all depends on what you will be doing with the MegaPC. If you're a gamer, get an AGP card. If you want to use it as an HTPC, keep with the onboard nForce2 solution. There's no need for extra here since the nForce2 chipset is great. Onboard sound from this chipset is also great. Try it out before spending $ on an AGP card you don't need.
    Hope this helped a bit.

  • E-Recruiting important questions

I'm implementing the E-Recruiting and I have two important questions for this Project:
1 - The business want to capture mobility (willingness to relocate / travel) at the time of position application. Is there a standard field for store this information?
2 - Recruitment would like to be informed about a critical process, in others words, the requisition doesnu2019t compete with other priorities. How can I handle this situation?
    Thanks in advance!!!
    Sivani

    Hi Sivani,
Questionnaire answers are stored in IT5141.  They are visible to the Recruiters when viewing the Candidates and can be used in rankings.  You can also decide for which positions this questionnaire would be required and which not.
Do not see a standard field to create a priority when creating a Requisition.  We added many fields, such as "eligibility for employee referral", so it can be added.  However, letting managers set the priorities could be a problem with each manager thinking his/her opening is most important.

  • Most Important Recommended System Components

My current computer system is a Q9300 2.5Ghz Quad Core, ATI Radeon HD  2600 XT graphics card w/ 256Mb, running WinXP 32 bit with 4Gb RAM. I  use Photoshop CS5, Lightroom 3, and IDImager  -- typically I have a lot  of windows and applications open at once. The machine often slows to a  crawl, and at times the video refresh is abysmally slow. Frequently I  have to reboot.
I would think the CPU and GPU I have  would be adequate but they don't seem to be. Perhaps I need more video  memory, a faster CPU or GPU, or perhaps upgrading to Win7 64 and adding  memory is most important.
    So, here are the questions:
Which component(s) are most important for PS CS5 and LR3 (as well as  some video editing)? That is,which component upgrades are likely to  help the most? The least?
Which GPU have you found works adequately with CS5?
What should I look for in a GPU? Do CS5 or LR3 use dual cores or multithreads?
What systems or components (graphics card, amount of RAM, etc.) have  you found works well? I don't want to spend unnecessary money, but I  get awfully tired of waiting on the computer and on the graphics.
    Thanks.

  • Seasons Greetings. How do I keep firefox 4 from disallowing my most important sites?

    Question
Seasons Greetings. How do I keep firefox 4 from disallowing my most important sites? All the garbage, it lets sail right in, but my bank accounts and library accounts are not allowed. Why is this? I have looked in the help section and tried the permissions manager, but when I type about:permissions in the location bar, I receive the following error, "The URL is not valid and cannot be located." Thanks for any useful information.

Thanks for responding. Sorry I wasn't very precise. When attempting to navigate to one of these sites, a message at the top of the screen appears, "Firefox prevented this page from automatically redirecting to another page." Then there is a dialog box which says, "Allow." Once I 'allow' it, the page I'm trying to open does so. This only occurs with certain pages, and usually pages that I need open without any computer interference. I hope this clarifies things. Again, thanks for taking your time to respond.

  • Premiere has the most enoying error ever in history

Hello people, I'm working at a project that involves a lot of Premiere and after I've progressed with it, it gives me the most killer error ever. How can I solve this? I can't recover my work, so everytime I have to start over from some point it auto-saved. Please help me with this!
I'll be waiting for your suggestions.
    Thanks!

So... this isn't actually any help, but I would have to say the most annoying error message ever is FCP's "General Error". Which would then be followed by your system crashing. Has to set a record for least informative error ever, and it used to come up fairly often.
I'd follow Steven's advice, and import either you project or sequence into a new project.
