Most menus missing from Australian AppleTV

Saturday night, time to watch a movie, turn to the Apple TV and…nothing. The only menu choices are Computer and Settings.
After resetting a number of times, searching online, etc, I tried changing the location for the iTunes Store.
Change to the US, all the menu items return. Brazil, menu items as expected. Canada, same. New Zealand, looking good.
Australia again, just Computers and Settings.
Seems like it's a problems with the Australian iTunes store. Question is, how do we get any feedback from Apple about this problem?

Me too!
I am in California and while the Apple TV passes the network tests, I am only seeing Computers and Settings icons.
I've tried
1) reseting power (remove power cable)
2) soft restart (from Settings menu)
3) changing from Ethernet to Wifi and back again
Its acting flaky - I just saw the full set of icons appear for 2 seconds, then disappear again!
Is there an iTunes issue today - would that cause this?

  • File + Edit menus missing from PSE9 trial version

I installed the trial version of PSE9 and am having a fundamental problem with the Organizer. Various functions require me to access File or Edit menus which, according to the Help file, should be at the top of the screen but they are nowhere to be found.
For example, I want to Move files offline to a CD or DVD. To do that - according to the Help facility - I have to start by clicking on File - Move, but nowhere can I find this "File".
Does anyone here know whether these menus are missing from the trial version of the Organizer ? Or are they hidden somewhere ?

    Thanks very much.
When forwarding this to the product management you might mention that this problem was encountered on a Window 7 Ultimate 64-bit system. I mention this because I have discovered the the "Ultimate" and 64-bit versions sometimes behave significantly differently from the other versions of Windows 7. In particular, some of my recently-purchased software has been unable to deal with the 64-bits, possibly because parts of them were written 10 years ago albeit purchased recently.

  • Podcast Missing from New AppleTV...

Anyone else notice that that section is missing from the GUI of the new appleTV? are they really getting rid of Podcasts? I'd be sorry to see that go as i'm an avid user of Podcasts.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was concerned about this, I would say 50% of my usage of my current Apple TV is video podcasts. Interestingly, reviews never talk much about this but I find you have pretty good on demand content via podcasts.

  • Most icons missing from control/functions palette

I've seen the following on several (at least three, AFAIR) different installations of LV8.5 or 8.5.1 on different machines. I'm surprised not to find something that inconvenient not yet reported on the discussion forums or the knowledge base.
If in Tools/Options/Control/functions palette I choose "Icons" for format, which I like best, I end up with a control palette showing only 4 buttons, namely Express, User controls, Select a control... and Vision, and a lot of blank space. Similarly, the Controls palette shows only Express, Favorites, Select a vi... and User libraries. If I use format:tree or format:text, I see the same four items as well. The tagging of "load palettes" doesn't seem to have any effect on this.
Instead, all the functions and controls I expect to see, are on the system and show up in submenus only if I choose format: category. However, and this might be the key point, the category menu is shown initially as "abridged", with a >> mark at bottom. As I right-click pop it open, only the said four items are shown, a click on the continuation mark opens up all. I couldn't find, though, any obvious Options setting related to this behavior.
    I've checked this resource,
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/46E1672AB48C917D86256AFE00075436
but none of the suggestions seems to apply. I have not tried to reinstall LV, first for the time it takes, second because having seen the problem on many installations I doubt that all of them could have gone bad in the same way (while LV apparently works sanely). In particular, Tools/Advanced/Edit palettes shows again all buttons I would expect to see.
    What should I do?
    Thanks, Enrico

Uff, I found myself. Please ignore the request.
However, I find that it was not at all trivial. Searching the help for "abridged", I've found that:
"By default, LabVIEW installs with an abridged palette view, unless you are upgrading and were using the Advanced palette view in a previous version of LabVIEW. You can use the View button to display or hide palette categories."
(upgrading was the case on the systems in question). Following links for "Change Visible Categories Dialog Box" I learned that
"On a pinned palette, click the View button on the palette toolbar and select Change Visible Categories from the shortcut menu to display the Change Visible Categories dialog box. This dialog box lists all categories on the Controls or Functions palette"
That is, one has to pin the palette first, then press view, then etc. etc. It was not immediate to me.

  • Photos missing from menu on AppleTV

9 out of ten times when any AppleTV (x2 gen2, x1 gen3 in house) is navigated from AppleTV Main to Computers (green) > Photos item is missing from list.  Not greyed out or dimmed but gone.  Then of course at some random day when I least expect it the Photos item will be listed.
All other items are there Music, Movies, TV Shows, Home vides, Podcasts, iTunes U and nothing (most often) where Photos should be ...   The iCloud Photos seem to function however always disappointedly slow.
iMac OS, TV's updates, iOS, etc all current & up-to-date, AirPort Time Capsule is wired to all TV's, iMac, wireless to all iOS.  Speeds to all devices have been checked and range from 65 to 450 Mb/s, speed to the outside world averages 52MB down & 16MB up - so this should not hinder progress.
I have not been able to determine if it's the order of powering up each item (iMac, TV, ...) OR if the last time used it should be shut down in certain order OR stand on one foot, wait for a full moon?   Sadly it works one day and then the next it does not, I cannot determine the circumstances when it does or does not.
I have tried to reboot TV one at a time OR ensuring Time Machine is idle etc but to no avail to force or simply allow the photos to appear.  With limited success rebooting Everything at once seems to do the trick but not 100% of the time.
I check and recheck processes running and nothing out of the ordinary raises a brow.
    Thoughts, advise or wisdom?

There was a glimmer of hope today, shortly after I wrote above (about 1 ½ hours) the photos appeared.
    Went out for dinner.
Came back and started everything back up as I normally do - Nothing.  Checked and unchecked and rechecked settings, stood on one foot - Nothing.
Frankly it all started to a limited degree just before Mavericks era and has continued.   During this time I have become complacent with photos not working on any TV (before Yosemite perhaps monthly) however since several iPads came into our possession these have been my goto for images.  The preferred method is of course several photo streams shared and not shared which work with acceptable results.  Shared photo streams work to a certain level on any TV but certainly not quickly.
May I also add screen savers on TV's & iMac will default to National Geographic often and impossible to predict intervals - I'm beginning to Hate National Geographic.  On my iMac I found the folder of images and replaced it with a single image warning me Yosemite has failed once again.  I see this image weekly.
I can be reasonable confident the issues are not TV related nor internal network related, the root problem is OS X and the apps iPhoto and now Photos.  Serving up content on all devices is instantaneous with a sustained data rate well above normal, except for images and only images.
To address your ponderation of external storage, no, I have heard of horror stories using external drives for photos.   Music, Video, TV... are all on external drives (7TB) & backed up to another set of drives.  Time capsule is happy looking after images and documents.   My thoughts on the iCloud image storage was speaking aloud of perhaps a notion OS X might feel better or work better that I'm not aware, perhaps as well sparking a thought that photo library iCloud storage has a benefit.  I will let Apple know of my situation and prepare myself to reinstall everything which I would like to avoid, I would have thought Photos might be fundamentally new but it appears it is using some remnant of iPhoto.

  • STUFF MISSING FROM ITUNES IS STILL ON APPLETV

After upgrading to iTunes 7.6, many of my QT trailers are missing from iTunes ("The movie xxx could not be used because the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"), but they are all still present and playable on my AppleTV!
How can the AppleTV continue to sync to something that isn't there?

The itunes window can in some ways be regarded as a list of alias's, providing you don't delete the alias (the entry in itunes), if I tunes can't find the original it will not delete the synced copy on the tv.
Not sure why the alias's are broken, could be because you've deleted the originals, moved the originals, chosen another location for your library in your prefs or simply because itunes thinks you have done one of these things.
If you haven't deleted them and need help relocating them just post back.

  • Text missing from menus and icons

Can anyone help? All the text is missing from my Mac Mini! Every menu in every application and on every icon: there is simply no text. My computer is completely unusable!

    Hi.
Try booting into Safe Mode, by holding the Shift key at startup (right after the chime, and until the gray screen with the spinning gear). It will clear the system fonts cache, and run the fsck command (repair the boot volume).
    Good Luck.

  • I am trying to install the newest version of Itunes and it fails with the message "Program cannot start MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling program to fix this program.I have tried reinstalling several times but get same results

I am trying to install the newest version of Itunes and each time I repeatedly get the message "Program cannot start MSVCR80.dll is missing from your computer Try reinstalling to fix this problem". I have tried reinstalling several times and I get the same message . Any ideas? I am most appreciative. I am using Windows 7.

    Hi 49balf,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend removing and reinstalling iTunes using these steps:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
You can find the article with these steps and more information here:

  • Now I'm just ****** off - original photos missing from iPhoto

    Ok.
So I had this problem the other day after upgrading to iPhoto 6 (see here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=406534&tstart=0)
That seemed to get solved from the information provided.
OK, great. So today, I'm flipping through some albums, and I discover, much to my chagrin, that some photos (all of which appear to be from 2000/2001) have thumbnails, but no longer have the photos attached.
And before you say, "hey, do you have the apple support framework 1.4?" why yes, I've already checked.
And before you say, "hey, did you try rotating/exporting/dragging the photos to your desktop?" Why yes, I've already tried.
As a matter of fact, when I try to go into the iphoto library file structure itself, and open some of these older photos (after searching around for them because ever since the upgrade, I appear to have about 800 different files in my iphoto folder), I get a message that the image either doesn't exist or is corrupt.
Speaking of the file structure, This is a list of what I get now when I open the pictures folder in finder:
    2000 (folder)
    2001 (folder)
    2002 (folder)
    2003 (folder)
    2004 (folder)
    2005 (folder)
    AlbumData.xml
    bdayfun.jpg
    Data (folder)
    Dir.data
    iPhoto.ipspot
    iPhotoLock.data
    iPod Photo Cache (folder)
    Library.cache
    Library.data
    Library.iPhoto
    Library6.iPhoto
Modified (folder - NOTE: THIS DOES HAVE AN INTERNAL FOLDER FOR 2006, BUT NONE FOR 2000 0R 2001)
Original (folder - same as "Modified")
    Thumb32Segment.data
    Thumb64Segment.data
    ThumbJPGSegment.data
All of the photos (so far) that appear to not open are from 2001 and earlier. They are also photos that were taken with an old digital camera, and have file names such as "3 - 141" rather than the more current file naming conventions (but I didn't name these photos - iPhoto did, based on the original roll imports.
I'm finding it extremely frustrating that iPhoto wasn't upgraded in a way that took into account how previous versions of iPhoto itself worked!.
Nevermind that I've submitted multiple bug reports about the fact that iPhoto continues to crash every time I try to empty the trash folder, and have heard not a peep out of Apple.
    iMac G5; PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi Samantha,
I know it must be frustrating. there is some info in the iPhoto Help files for missing photos:
"What to do about a missing photo
When you import or edit photos in iPhoto, they are saved in the iPhoto Library folder, located in the Pictures folder on your computer.
If you move, delete, or otherwise change a photo in the iPhoto Library folder, and then open the iPhoto application and try to edit or use that photo, iPhoto may not be able to find it. You will see the missing photo indicator instead (shown below).
To find or replace a missing photo:
If you have the original photo file, either on a CD or on your computer, just import it again into iPhoto. For more information, see Related Topics below.
If you don't have the original photo, or you are trying to find an edited version, try one of the following options.
Click your computer's Trash icon (not iPhoto Trash) and see if the photo is still in there.
    Do a search.
To search within the iPhoto Library folder, open your Pictures folder and then open your iPhoto Library folder. From there, click Command-F, choose Images from the Any pop-up menu, and enter a search term.
To search all your files and folders, in the Finder, choose File > Find and enter a search term.
IMPORTANT: When you find the photo file, don't drag it directly into the iPhoto Libary folder. Save it to your desktop, then import it back into iPhoto from there.
If you don't know the file name, try going back to the original iPhoto Library folder and look at the other images. If one is missing in a numerical order, it may be the photo you're looking for and you can search for it. If that doesn't work, try searching on the date you think you moved the file, or the date you last edited it."
As far as your file structure, those loose year folders (if empty) can be deleted or dragged to the trash.
If the Year folders have photos in them that are missing from your library, drag them to the desktop and import the photos into iPhoto.
Here is how the library should look and what the folders contain.
iPhoto 6 Library folder in the Finder
As you can see the structure is now related to rolls. Rolls are created for each folder you import and each import session from a camera.
It is very easy to change the names of film rolls within iPhoto to make them easier to find images within. Open the info panel in iPhoto by clicking on the "i" icon. Once it is opened, click on the roll title in the viewing window.
Click on the word "title" in the info pane and type in your new title. I like to use a date and text format such as 12/25/05 Christmas at Mom's, 1/05/06 my birthday, etc. Once the roll names are changed within iPhoto, they are also changed within the Finder, making it easy to locate an image.
When importing from a camera, make sure you name the roll with a date and text before the import.
As far as the trash is concerned, move most of the photos back into the library and delete a few at a time, then empty iPhoto's trash.
Some people have found success on making sure the trash folder is highlighted then go to iPhoto>empty trash.

  • Most albums missing album art on iPod Touch after updating to iOS 7

    Hi there,
I updated my 5th-gen iPod Touch to iOS 7 yesterday.
As the activation servers were overloaded for most of the afternoon, the update failed for me and my iPod touch ended up wiped and in recovery mode.
I installed a blank iOS 7 and then restored my settings from the previous day's iCloud backup.
I then reuploaded all my music from iTunes to the iPod.
Most of the album art is missing from the iPod and it's making me very sad. All the album art is visible in iTunes, so this is rather confusing. There seems to be no consistency to it, between albums I bought on iTunes or albums I bought elsewhere and ripped to MP3 and added to my iTunes library, or albums for which I got the art directly from iTunes or by adding it myself.
I'm using a PC with Windows 8 and the latest version of iTunes, if this matters.
    Any ideas?

    That happens sometimes
    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync all music and resync
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.

  • Airplay Icon missing from iTunes 11.0.2.26 (PC) and Genius Sidebar

After upgrading to iTunes 11.0.2.26 my Airplay icon is missing. I've tried the simple fix that reportedly works where you switch to mini player, see the Airplay icon and then it stays when you switch to normal mode.
Firstly the icon does appear but it is grayed out and only pops up a volume control. It does not detect, display, or allow you to select output devices, Second, it is still missing from the normal size window.
This has been tried with and without restarting iTunes as well as reinstalling iTunes. I'd go for a downgrade but then it fails to work with the new iPads at all. I discovered that with my first iPad mini where it required an iTunes upgrade.
    Genious Sidebar
I figured Id just downgrade to 10.6.3 to get the genius sidebar back afterwards. WRONG, it will not synch or do anything without the newer versions of the iTunes software. Genius sidebar was the best thing about the software and they kept taking it away, brought it back for a few versions, then took it away again. It was and remains my favorite way to shop for new music. The remaining so called genius functions are just plain lame.
Airplay Icon Missing from Itunes on PC
I can hit my Airplay devices such as Apple TV and Zeppelin Air with iPads, iPods, and iPhones. Just not from the PC Console where is previously enjoyed it the most. So I know the devices are fine. They are all on the same physical wired and wireless network. Even when I put the Zeppelin on the wired LAN there is no Airplay icon in iTunes on the PC.

  • Why is the "Send to iDVD" command missing from the share menu in iPhoto 9.4.3 when trying to send a slideshow to iDVD?

How come the "Send to iDVD" command is missing from the share menu? In iPhoto I used to be able to send my slideshows to iDVD simply my clicking on the slideshow, selecting the "Share" menu at the top and going to "Send to iDVD". Now in iPhoto 9.4.3 that option is missing.
Further i am also using iDVD 7.1.2 and running OSX version 10.8.3.
    Thanks!

Export the slideshow via the Export button at the bottom of the slideshow window with Size = Medium or Large.
Open iDVD, choose a theme and drag the exported movie file to the menu window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Sound missing from half of One Step DVD

I have tried a couple times to make a one step DVD directly from my mini DV tape camera. I've done this plenty before and do not know why, but this time the sound is missing from the last half of the DVD. It is on the tape, but not the DVD.

    Hi
    My list on this.
    *No audio on DVD disc.*
    Most common origin.
    1 Imported audio from iTunes.
    • In iTunes copy out as an audio-CD .aiff
    • Use this in Your movie project
2 Strange audio formats like .mp3, .avi etc.
    • Change them to .aiff. Use an audio editor like Audacity (free)
3 Main audio is set to off in System Preferences - Does this by it self - Don’t know why
    Cheque Audio-Out resp. Audio-In
    4. Ed Hanna
Had the same problem; some Googling around gave me a kludgy, but effective fix
Downgrade Perian from recent versions back to version 1.0.
That worked for me, and so far I haven't encountered any deficiencies—except it takes more advanced versions of Perian to enable QuickTime to handle subtitles in .srt format—that I have noticed.
    Before burning the DVD.
    • Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
    • Double click on the .img file
    • Test it with Apple DVD-player
If it’s OK then make Your DVD.
Burn at x1 speed.... (or x4)
    • In iDVD 08 - or - 09
    • Burn from DiskImage with Apple Disk Util tool
    • OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it
