Most recently played?

if I pause a podcast and come back to it later, sometimes I have to drill down to find the particular one I was listening to again. is there a way that ipod can identify the most recently played podcast, so I can find it easily?

Hi Robert,
I don't think that there is a way of doing this.

  • Most recently played dependent on whole song being played?

I have a filter to show the last 100 song of which I have "played", but I find all the time that songs do not show up. Now, computers do not make mistakes and I put it down to the understanding of the word "played" of which I believe means having been played through to the end and (even for a few silent seconds) not having been skipped to the next song.
    Can anybody confirm this?

    Thanks.
Any other combo of filters to achieve lists that show partially played songs?

  • ITunes can only 'see' a small fraction of my music (recently played)

I opened iTunes today and it only sees about a dozen songs (i think they're the most recently played).  The music is still on my computer (new iMac/current iTunes version) but it doesn't 'see' it.  This is not the common 'explanation point' issue.
Any thoughts?  Related to the big 'bug' at Apple today?

This sounds like what I need, unfortunately, when I click on file, consolidate files isn't an option...

  • Playlists songs not the same in iTunes-iPod Touch (most often played)

I have created some smart playlists based on "most often played" or "most recently played", and the thing is than on iTunes, the playlists' content is correct but when I open the playlist on the iPod Touch, the songs that show up are not the ones supposed to. I tried changing the "most" recently played to "least" recently played, and it worked for the iPod Touch in the way that know I can have the MOST RECENTLY PLAYED songs but actually I'm using the "least recently played" criteria so in iTunes is all the other way around, it really shows the LEAST RECENTLY PLAYED!! What can I do to fix this??? Thank you very much.

There is a 3rd option (besides disabling live updates, or sorting things in reverse): construct a similar 'smart' playlist without using the 'select by' rule. So, for example, if you usually pick the '50 most recently played', create a list of 'played within the past 5 days'. Or instead of the '50 least recently played', try 'last played more than 3 months ago'.
These alternative playlists won't be limited to a fixed size, but they can accomplish similar goals, and they avoid the bug.
Whether this solution is better (or worse) than reverse-sorted playlists depends on your preferences. For me, this works reasonably well (and the lists appear the same in iTunes and on the Touch).

  • Recently Played playlist keeps organizing by artist name

Please help!? I'd really really appreciate it. I'll keep it simple.
I have a playlist called "Recently Played" (Last played in the last week). I have it set to Live Updating, so that it can update when I'm out and about with my iPhone. I set it to Limit 500 songs, and sort by Most Recently Played. I want the songs to appear in the order I last played them.
However when a song is finished playing, I go back to the "Recently Played" playlist and instead of being at the top, being the most recent track played, it's all organized A-Z by artist.
What am I doing wrong? Or is that just how it works???

I set it to Limit 500 songs, and sort by Most Recently Played.
You don't sort by *Most Recently Played*.
That is simply how the playlist is selected.
    Select the playlist.
Go to View -> View optons.
    Tick *Last Played*.
Then click on the *Last Played* column header so the arrow at the right is pointing down. This will put the most recently played at top.

  • Recently Played Playlist Problem

    Hello Guy,
I don't know if anyone can help me but I can't figure out what is wrong with my iPod and iTunes. Basically, I've played songs in my ipod after i sync it with iTunes I do not see songs in the playlist. Another words, for some reason, iTunes do not get updated from iPod.
I was wondering what could be the problem, because Playlist is organized in following way:
    Last Played: is After: 01/01/2005
Limit to 160GB: most recently played
    Live Update
It worked before for about 6 month now and it also worked 2 days after lastest update to iTunes and iPod, however songs do not get updated, can anyone help me with a tip.
    Thank you guys

All I'm asking for is help getting my iTunes to do what it did previously. This problem started sometime over the summer. I really need help with this, and I'd rather not have to go to a Genius Bar, especially because I'm on a timetable with this record.

Why do I want it the way it was? Because that was an accurate record, this is not.
Yes it is. It lists the most recently played tracks. If you listen to one song ten times, it will not list it ten times.
How is it accurate that if I listen to Welcome to the Jungle on Monday, Crystal Ship on Tuesday, Layla on Wednesday, Superstition on Friday, and Welcome to the Jungle on Saturday, it only lists Welcome to the Jungle once, as having been played Saturday? That's not accurate at all.
I could listen to an album of 11 songs sixty times and it will only show 11 entries in the Recently Played list.
Maybe. If it's set up to show only 11 songs, then yes.
It will show the songs based on the rules of the *Recently Played* playlist.
Select *Recently played* and right click - Edit playlist.
Mine is set up to show all song played in the last two weeks.
Mine is set up to show all songs in the last 18 months. I have listened to an album of 11 songs several times, in various orders (some songs 14 times, some 26 times) and there are only 11 items in my Recently Played list. I even made another Recently Played list to see if it was a glitch with the smart playlist, but it does the same thing. I tried making a list of "last played" to a limit of 700 songs; same result. I could listen to Shambala in August, then listen to 300 other songs, and listen to Shambala again in October, and iTunes will remove the August-dated play of Shambala and put it down as played in October, with no record of my having played it in August.

  • Recently Played Playlist Deleted

So, I accidentally deleted my Recently Played Playlist on iTunes... is there anyway I can recover it without deleting iTunes and reinstalling it? I looked all over the help and support sections of iTunes and the website and couldn't find anything.
    Hp laptop   Windows XP

In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist
    Recently Played:
Uncheck the "Match the following rule" box
Then check "Limit to">"25">"Songs">selected by "Most recently played" make the "limit to" to suit yourself.

  • Multiple Plays not individually represented in Recently Played

I am having a problem with my Recently Played playlist. It overwrites if I listen to a song more than once. If I listen to a song, it puts it on there, but then if I listen to it again, it removes it from the list and places it at the top again. For instance, if I listen to an album that starts with a song called "Baby," it will show my Recently Played list as 1. Baby 2. Doll. . . etc, but if at the end of the album, I listen to Baby again, it will take it off the top of the list and put it on the bottom again. I could listen to an album of 11 songs sixty times and it will only show 11 entries in the Recently Played list. I don't want this. I want how it used to be, that if I listened to Baby twice in a session it would be at the top and the bottom of the list (or wherever it fell). If I listened to an album 20 times it would list all the songs 20 times, so I'd have 200+ entries in my Recently Played playlist. How can I do this?
I've tried going back to previous iTunes versions (I'm using 9.1.1, and have tried going back through the 9 versions and even to 7). I've tried adjusting my Recently Played preferences. Nothing works. I can't figure it out.
Why do I want it the way it was? Because that was an accurate record, this is not. Plus at the moment I'm trying to choose an order for an album and I want to have a record of each way I've listened to song placement.
    Thanks in advance!

  • Missing purchases, playlists, recently played, recently added, etc

After opening iTunes today, all of my new purchases(last 3 or 4 months)are gone. The icons for recently added, recently played, playlists, and everything else in the lower section are gone. I tried a few of the suggestions like looking in the recycle bin, and searching my computer for the files didn't do anything. I also re installed iTunes to no avail...

The default playlists are just Smart Playlists and you can recreate them. In iTunes go to File>New Smart Playlist

What is happening in the most recent keynote when I click on a slide and it pulses (larger-smaller)  Two of my slides have disappeared in the navigator although if I play through them they are there and the slides have their orignal number--there are just white spaces where the slide should be and I can only get to the slide by clicking through from the prior slide.  How do I get the sldies back into the navigator so I can see them.  Oddly, they are show up just find on the light table.

Try removing any transitions or builds on these slides, or delete the slides then recreate them as fresh slides.

  • Checking "Most Recent Unplayed" in iPod Podcast tab syncs played ones too

    Hi all:
When I select "Sync 3 most recent unplayed episodes" under the podcast tab in iTunes, i get more than just the 3 most recent unplayed podcasts...I get a bunch of played ones too. Here's how it looks on my iPod:
    1. The "Podcasts" menu shows ONLY the 3 most recent unplayed episodes of the podcasts I'd selected;
    2. If I select the "Music" menu, then "Artists," then look for a podcast (for example, "ABC NEWS"), not only will the 3 unplayed episodes show up, but anywhere between 1-8 extra episodes also show up;
    3. When I turn off podcast syncing in iTunes, none of the podcasts show up anyplace.
    4. When I check the "Only sync checked items," those podcasts that used to show up uninvited no longer do if I uncheck them.
As you can imagine, this takes up a whole lot of extra room. Is anyone else having this issue? Has anyone figured out how to fix it. I'd prefer not to have to manually sync my podcasts if that's the only solution.
    Thanks!
    Dell   Windows XP

I have a similar issue. I had previously checked to sync three most recent unplayed, but kept running out of room. So I turned off music sync. A few weeks later, same problem. Running out of room when I didn't think I should. So I, yesterday, changed to one most recent unplayed. However, when I sync, the status bar in iTunes shows it syncing podcasts I've already heard. aargh!
If I, within iTunes, check which podcasts are actually on the thing (iPod Nano, 2GB, one generation old) it lists seven podcasts, five hours, for 1.17 GB. What the heck? Only unplayed episodes show up, but I watched the status bar "sync" at least 20 played episodes.
So I disconnected it. Sure enough, only seven episodes are on there. Doing the math, there should only be about 200MB of space used by that five hours.
Is it putting "ghost" files on my iPod?

  • No play/audio after most recent upgrade

I upgraded to the most recent itunes a couple days ago, and ever since iTunes will only play videos, but very choppy and without audio. Songs will not play at all, and in general itunes is moving very sluggishly. This problem has affected all audio on my computer, as no programs produce sound. Connecting to headphones or speakers also does not change anything. Help!

    (A) Reset iPad
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
Note: Data will not be affected.

  • I used to be able to print a mosaic cover from the print tab but after downloading the most recent (10.2.2) version I cannot. Though it seems to be showing the mosaic cover in print set-up it prints a play list only. Can someone respond with help

I used to be able to print a mosaic CD cover from the print tab after purchasing music but after downloading the most recent (10.2.2) version I cannot. Though it seems to be showing the mosaic cover in the print set-up it prints a play list only. Can someone respond with help in fixing this? I've tried several times with different down-loaded music but no success.

The recent releases of iTunes have brought a bunch of bugs into the printing of CD covers.
Some people report that directing the iTunes print output to PDF, and then printing to paper from the PDF, solved their problem.  Others have reported that it did not help.  Worth a try.
