Most satisfying indestructible shock-absorbing tank armor for iphone 3G

I need the best (best=highly satisfying) case in terms of protection for the iphone 3G I ordered. I know there are a lot of posts on this subject but I have very specific preferences and don't want to spend hours reading tons of posts on every channel out there. I like to first ask you friends out there whom I trust and have experience.
Just imagine that I am a Marine going into battle, what kind of case would I want.
_What I need in a case:_
Hard protection for the iPhone overall
Hard protection for the screen (perhaps most importantly from all the stories I have heard)
Shock-absorbing rubber-like protection for if (God forbid) I drop it
Seamless protection to protect the iPhone including its ports and whatnot from the elements (dust, moisture, kids sticky fingers)
_What would also be nice:_
Near as possible waterproofing
Access to using the screen
Access to other functions, buttons, ports, etc. For instance, I would like to charge/sync without taking it out of the case
Won't scratch or damage the iPhone while being worn
Won't require me to take out a loan
_What I don't care about:_
Belt clip. Where I live, you don't want to be walking around with an expensive piece of technology hanging around on your person. You are asking for special attention.
Looks, style, sweetness, yeah I know the iPhone is sexy but I'm more pragmatic and need protection for this very expensive and, let's face it, fragile machine. It's small and will be going everywhere. Looks don't matter much when you're a dead and useless hunk of nothin'. Also, I don't care if it looks unprofessional or stupid, where I work you look as professional as you write (please don't take this post as an example of my best work), not by the jacket your phone wears.
Bulkiness. I don't care how big the case makes it as long as it can still go in my pocket.
I appreciate any of your recommendations whether they are from personal experience or something you have researched yourself. If you do have experience with a case that was meant to be high on protection, then please share your story. For instance, I know the Otterbox Defender is well-established, or how about those Ivyskins, but has any of them lived up to their names?

Yes, you are right. I get really paranoid with a new device. I try to keep all my electronics pristine for as long as possible. I had my macbook pro for well over a year and still baby it (and it still looks great thanks to a moshi codex case combined with a Tom Bihn brain cell).
I have ordered the zagg invisible shield and the defender. I am going to try to see if it will fit in the defender with just the front on, since I am most nervous about the screen (and if I decide, I can revert to just the shield).
I surfed the auctions on ebay to see if I could get a cheap iPhone and it just led me through the graveyard of broken screens and water damaged corpses. It scarred me, I think. I saw a post of a guy who broke his screen the first day he got his iPhone. Depressing.
I know the feeling will go away but for the first couple of months, having maximum outrageous protection will help me relax and enjoy having the device. Otherwise, I'm it will just be a worry-wart that I'll keep in the box, afraid of exposing it to the real world.

  • A shock-absorbing c

are there any cases available for the NOMAD Jukebox Zen Xtra 60GB made out of a shock-absorbing material like rubber or something? because the leather case won't help much if it's dropped...

Rubber wouldn't help that much either. Just stick your micro inside a pillow, DONE. Rubber and leather would do about the same, the thicker the case, the better it will absorb the shock. I would say, go with leather, looks better and if somehow a flame hits or something leather will protect it. Leather ofc is a lot more durable then rubber.Message Edited by FinkyDink on 04-25-2005 06:37 AM

  • Otter Box Armor Case for iPhone 5

I know this is Apple Forums, but if anybody needs a  pouch with belt clip for Otterbox Armor Case for iPhone 5, consider a pouch with belt clip designed for Galaxy S3. I got this "third party" like Amazon, it is REIKO brand pouch with belt clip. My iPhone 5 with Armor case fits snug in this pouch, if somebody found something better, good for you!

Since it is not listed as an available case for the 5s, I would think not.:

For some reason, I have had misgivings about partioning my internal HD.. not sure why.. sort of feels like I'm creating my own computer sybil ;-)  Truthfully, it seems weird to split it.. I don't think I can articulate it really.. but are there complications that can come with doing this?
It's a common way to run multiple OSs, if there's room.  I've had two on my internal HD for a couple of years.  Plus a small partition for a copy of my Snow Leopard Install disc.  Just be sure to leave at least 10% to 15% free on each partition.
Running Lion on a partition of the disk that also contains your backups is not a good idea; if that drive fails, you risk losing both copies of your stuff!
OSX will also run somewhat more slowly, because access to an external is slower.  That probably won't be very significant, though.
Also, would the decision be effected by how long I want to maintain the SL section?  I am assuming once I sort out what to replace Quicken with, I won't want to keep the SL section.  So would it be easy enough to 'clear out the SL data, and open the partition?
Review #3 in Formatting, Partitioning, Verifying, and Repairing Disks.
All things considered, your best bet may be to  "clone" your SL partition to the second one, then (once you're sure everything is cool), erase the original (top) SL partition.  You can use the Restore tab of Disk Utility for that (#7 in the same link), or a "cloning" app such as CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper.  Then install Lion on the top partition.
When you're done with SL, just delete it's partition and expand the Lion partition down into the vacated space.

  • What is a good case for iPhone 5? both stylish and protective.

I want a new case for my iphone 5 i want something thats both good looking and can protect my Phone. especialy shock absorbing.
my phone fell like 7 times including 1 hard fall ever since Google app is messed up ( letters override eachother) so yeah.
a transparent 1 is also cool, My iPhone is Sexy.

    Hey, Michael
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
My suggestion is you do have a look on the websites accesories section and find something that suits you, from what you are saying you need a stylish yet strong case. So any good plastic based one will do, you can choose the style and color then. Or you can actually visit the store and have a feel. I have several, when im at work i keep the stylish yet strong ones, but when i am in the field or sports i have a pretty strong one, a little chunky too.
I hope this helps you. Let me know if it does. If not feel free to give me a shout. Best of luck.

  • Anyone ordered/reviewed this full cover glass protector for iPhone 6?

    Here you go: http://www.spigen.com/brands/apple/iphone/iphone-6-and-6-plus/iphone-6/iphone-6- screen-protector-full-cover-glass-4-7.html
Spigen just released their latest screen protector for iPhone 6 which is a full cover version.
I have been using their glass protector (not a full cover version), it's very nice but ever since then I've been looking for a glass screen protector that doesn't leave a gap around the edges of the screen.
But i'm worried that this glass protector will have the same problem like others had - "still some space between the curved screen and the protector".
So I hoping anyone who ordered/reviewed this glass protector could shed some light.
    Thank you.

    Hello spinworkz,
I have bought this screen protector shortly after the release.
Once received I was very excited to use it with my Spigen slim armor case, as all the other full screen protectors are not compatible with this case.
Installation was fairly easy. You have to align it properly on the screen otherwise the cases will push against the screen protector. After installation I got very very disappointed with the quality. There is some space around all edges to make sure it is case compatible with most Spigen cases. On the instructions it writes that the screen protector is designed to use with their cases and that if you don't use their cases the screen protector might collect dust.
Well the dust collection is a major problem even with the slim armor!
It has big gaps between the screen protector and my slim armor and after one day use, all around the edges it's full of dust! The screen protector "lays" down on the flat part of the screen and is NOT going over the rounded edges, therefore it leaves a gap between the rounded edges and the screen protector in which the dust is collected.
After 1 day I dropped my phone from my bed table and guess what?!  The screen protector just cracked from the bottom edge where it doesn't have a solid bond over the rounded edges. I emailed Spigen and they supplied me with a new one which I still have laying here in the box as I decided to go for the ZAGG Invisibleshield HDX,   it's a poor design and I would NOT recommend spending your money on this piece of .........
    Hope this helps...

  • Pocket Quicken for iPhone

    Hi all,
I really really want to get an iPhone, but I'm shocked that there is no application that syncs with Quicken! The iPhone is years old now, and it seems to me that this would be a highly desirable app. In fact, next to the phone and the calendar, Pocket Quicken is the App I use the most on my Treo.
    Anyway, my questions are these...
    1) does anyone know of any iPhone Finance application that will SYNCHRONIZE with my copy of Quicken? I am not interested in Quicken Online, and, being a Canadian with Canadian bank accounts, I'm not sure that I could use it anyway.
    2) does anyone know if there are plans for Landware or Intuit or Apple to release such an app? I've tried emailing them, but the answers I get are vague.
    3) are there any savvy programmers there who know how to author apps for iPhone? If so, how much would it cost to create a custom app.
So frustrated with this. I want an iPhone, but I can't justify the cost until I can do this one simple thing!
    Cheers,
    Joel

    Hi guys,
Take a look at PocketMoney that does sync in a manual way with Quicken using "SyncDocs" a free desktop app. It imports/exports the QIF file so that both Quicken and PM are up to date. They just launched a version with budgets, so the app is pretty complete now. It's the best replacement you'll find for PocketQuicken on the Apps Store. I used PQ for more than 4 years on PalmOS, but Landware seems not to like the iPhoneOS, in any case these people (Catamount) have step up the plate, and made a pretty good replacement.
    http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=283494170&mt=8
It has all the features that PQ had in version 2.5, except for a more flexible reconcile feature, but their forum the petition has been made, feel free to pitch in
    http://catamount.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=506
Here's their website so you may check out more details about PocketMoney
    http://www.pocketmoney.com
I've been using it for a couple of months now... so far so good

  • Jabber for iPhone 6 - version 10.5 on iOS 8

    Hello All,
Just wondering if anyone has the same issue as me. I had an iPhone 4S and use the current version of Jabber for iPhone with all services on it until yesterday when I got my iPhone 6. On the iPhone 6, however, I cannot get the client to register to CUCM. All other services including voicemail, and IM & presence work just fine - I just cannot make phone calls.
THe error I get is "Failed to Get Device Configuration".
Our organization is running CUCM 8.6, CUP 8.6, and Unity Connection 8.6 (upgrading soon :P)
Just as an FYI, I am using an iPad 3 with Jabber 10.5 and can register just fine. Previous to getting an iPhone 6 it also, worked just fine.

I am currently running jabber 10.5.0.189050 with iphone 4s ios 8.0.2  I have seen very little issue with this so far.  My backend cisco servers are at the latest 10.5 code (CUCM, UNITY, Presence, etc) along with latest version of expressway.  If you say you are not supporting this then what is currently supported as I have a large sales team that we are planning to deploy this to soon, mostly running iphone 5's and a mix of ios 7 and 8.  New employees coming in on iphone 6 and ios 8.0.2  If you can't tell me here then where to we find up to date accurate information.
             thank you ,  jeff magnuson

  • How do I get my Fluid Grid Layout page to resizes from portrait to landscape for iPhones?

Starting in portrait on my iPhone 4, the fluid grid layout page does not resize when I turn to landscape.  After I refresh / resize to fit the page on landscape and then turn the iPhone to portrait, the page resizes just fine.  Everything seems to be working just fine on the desktop, ignoring IE.  Could it be my media query tags?
If anyone knows a solution, it would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

  • Just started getting intermittent error on my 3G:This accessory is not optimized for iPhone..." but nothing is connected or plugged in to it or anything?

Was just checking my iPhone and when I pressed the home button to wake it up the message "no sim installed" was on the screen,  obviously it was so I restarted the phone, that cleared it but then I started intermittently getting a popup message "this accessory is not optimized for iPhone...(don't remember the rest), did a hard reset and still happening once in a while, there isn't anything plugged into or connected to my phone at all though, would appreciate any help or advice please

The most common reason for message "this accessory is not optimized for iPhone" with nothing plugged in, is dust, debris etc. in the iPhone dock port. Clean the dock port with a clean dry toothbrush. If the message returns again, clean the dock port again very carefully using some isopropyll alcohol, especially the pins which are on top of the dock mid rib.
