Most secure method of adding windows for my limited purposes?

I only need windows on this particular computer, a Macbook 13 inch 2.1 Ghz with 2 GB RAM ("111.47 GB hard disk space capacity") to run Internet Explorer in those instances where my Mac browsers (Safari, Firefox, Opera thus far) will not work on some part of a website (for instance, try ordering something on equifax.com - a major site that's not fully mac compatible). I have the latest update of Leopard. I bought the computer in the past three weeks and have run software update regularly.
I did not want to put windows on this computer when I originally bought it. Now it appears from the failure of Mac browsers to work in some situations, I have to put windows on. I'm not even sure I can find XP although I had it on my old HP desktop I'm getting rid of. I might be forced to buy Vista and I don't have probably enough space for it to run well, do I? Do I need to upgrade to 4 gb RAM? Expensive.
Anyway, for security purposes, I want to be very cautious in how I use windows. I found keyloggers and periodically had files show up on my old windows computer in AVG, Ad-Aware, Spybot and other programs that worried me (most recently "Omniquad" kept showing up even after I deleted it and AVG free has no notes on what this means).
Is the least vulnerable way as far as internet viruses to run windows on my Mac to just install it in BootCamp assistant and reboot when I need it? Or theoretically is there any more vulnerability if I use VMware Fusion or Parallels with it? Do I first set it up in Bootcamp assistant (what partition size?) before I worry about choosing Vmware Fusion or Parallels? Or do I need to install one of those before I install windows?
What was it someone was saying in a different thread about needing to edit one's "virtual machine" -- see below:
+"One other tip, I would recommend editing the virtual machine before activation of windows to use emulate the same MAC address for your virtual ethernet card in parallels as for your real network card. This seems to convince WIN XP at lease that it is the same machine whether you boot it through boot camp or through Parallels. Otherwise, activation quickly becomes a pain."+
(Where would my virtual machine be?)
And also, do I need to do some special reconfiguration with my router manufacturer (Linksys) after adding windows through bootcamp and/or Parallels/Vmware in order for the the windows side to connect to the internet as my Mac is doing?
Also: should I get Windows XP Professional or Vista in this situation with the small Macbook and limited needs? I hope XP will still be used years from now.
P.S. I wish it weren't so hard to find out how to do all this. It makes me not want to go through this again with another computer and I actually need another.

VMWare Fusion and Parallels create Virtual Machines. When you are running Windows inside the Mac os
you are running a Windows Virtual Machine. A Virtual Machine accesses the physical machine differently than a Boot Camp installation, since it is going through Fusion or Parallels, which is why set-up is trickier. See this wiki article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_machine
XP Pro was originally aimed at businesses and power users. It can access 2 physical processors (in contrast to two cores on one processor), so it benchmarks faster on my Mac Pro which has 2 dual core processors. It also has some advanced networking features. I use both XP and XP Pro at home and don't notice much difference in day to day use. You did buy the superior version of XP, and since it is aimed at businesses, Microsoft will continue to provide security updates for it long after they stop providing them for XP. So you will get some value from buying it.
Its great that you are checking the AV Comparative site for yourself and not just relying on my opinion. The version of Avira they are using in the tests however is the Premium version, not the free version. If you notice on the AV Comparatives site, there are 2 types of tests, on demand and proactive. One reason I prefer paid versions of anti-virus software is that only they provide proactive protection. On demand protection relies on signature files that the AV company provides your copy of the program - when you update an AV program you are updating the signature files. Signature files allow the program to recognize any known virus. They will not catch something new - this is why when a new virus arrives it spreads so quickly - no one has a signature file for it so their AV program doesn't recognize it as a threat. Then your AV program gets a signature file update and you can scan and find the virus. Proactive protection works differently. It looks for certain features in a file that are common to virus files. If the file fits this profile, the program will block it even though it doesn't have a signature file for that particular virus yet. So while everyone else gets the virus maybe you don't (if you notice, the success rate for proactive protection is much lower than on demand). Yet some programs, like NOD32 and (usually) Kaspersky do proactive much better than other programs (don't know why Kaspersky slipped so much this time). I prefer NOD32 because it not only rates advanced plus in both on demand and proactive but also update signature files very quickly, uses few system resources so it doesn't slow you down, and works quietly behind the scenes
(Kaspersky can bug you to death sometimes).

  • What is the most secure password transfer method for POP3 supported by Thunderbird?

I will receive eMail from a POP3-Server that support encrypted transfer of passwords with the SASL-Methods "SCRAM-SHA-1" and "SCRAM-SHA-256" (successful tested with the command line tool 'mpop') but Thunderbird say that the Server does not support encrypted transfer of Passwords. I think in real Thunderbird does not support the strong Methods offered by the POP3-Server.
What is the most secure method for Password transfer on POP3 that is supported by Thunderbird?

I do not see SASL listed, do you?

  • Recommend security method for CB21AG clients

I am looking for recommendations of the strongest/most secure encryption and authenication method to use to secure clients that are using CB21AG client adapters and ADU software.
EAP-TLS is not an option as we currently do not have PKI in place. EAP-FAST is preferred, but not supported yet with curent client software. What's the next best method?

The problem with LEAP (besides the vulnerability with passwords) is that it requires Cisco's version of TKIP and MIC to be secure. The CB21 doesn't appear to support them. If it doesn't I would strongly recommend against "raw" WEP (which is what you are left with when you turn off Cisco's TKIP and MIC). Use WPA PEAP.

  • I would like to run the most secure version of firefox on my computer, but my computer does not meet the system requirements for the latest version

i would like to run the most secure version of firefox on my computer, but my computer does not meet the system requirements for the latest version. is there a way i can have the security of firefox 8 and still be able to run it on my old computer. i currently an running firefox 3.6. it is a bit slow, but it is functional.

Currently Firefox 3.6.24 is as secure as Firefox 8.0.1 is. Firefox 3.6.x will continue to get security updates until next spring, although the exact date hasn't yet been determined.
Which of the system requirements are you lacking? <br />
Processor wise you're stuck with what you got, but RAM can be upgraded. WinXP is still supported in all versions of Firefox and will be continued to be supported until Windows drops support for WinXP sometime in 2014.

iFrame i suppose to save time and work more efficiently in lue of quality but I don't seem to find I way to import the movies faster than in other formats.
On a second note, inporting in iMovie from DV (tape) cameras dramaticly reduced the image quality. Do we still have the same issue when importing an iFrame movie?

  • [XI 3.1] BEST PRACTICE method of Oracle connection for RPTs on Linux

    Business Objects XI (3.1) - SP3.
Running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux OS.
7,000+ Crystal Reports 2008 *.rpt objects ONLY (No Universe / No WebI).
All reports connecting to Oracle 10g databases.
    ==================
In the past, all of this infrastructure was running on Windows Server OS and providing the database access via a Named ODBC connection (eg. "APP_DATA".)
This made it easy to manage as all the Report Developers had a standard System DSN called "APP_DATA" which was the same as the System DSN name on all of our DEV, TEST/UAT, and PROD servers for Business Objects.
When we wanted to move/promote a *.rpt file from DEV to PROD we did not have to change any "Database Connection" info as it was all taken care of by pointing the System DSN called "APP_DATA" a a different physical Oracle server at the ODBC level.
Now, that hardware is moving from Windows OS to Red Hat Linux and we are trying to determine the Best Practices (and Pros/Cons) of using one of the three methods below to access the Oracle database for our *.rpts....
    1.) Oracle Native connection
    2.) ODBC connection
    3.) JDBC connection
Here's what we have determined so far -
1a.) Oracle Native connection should be the most efficient method of passing SQL-query to the DB with the fewest issues and best speed [PRO]
1b.) Oracle Native connection may not be supported on Linux - http://www.forumtopics.com/busobj/viewtopic.php?t=118770&view=previous&sid=9cca754b468fc67888ab2553c0fbe448 [CON]
1c.) Using Oracle Native would require special-handling on the *.rpts at either the source-file or the CMC level to change them from DEV -> TEST -> PROD connection. This would result in a lot more Developer / Admin overhead than they are currently used to. [CON]
2a.) A 3rd-Party Linux ODBC option may be available from EasySoft - http://www.easysoft.com/products/data_access/odbc_oracle_driver/index.html - which would allow us to use a similar Developer / Admin overhead to what we are used to. [PRO]
2b.) Adding a 3rd-Party Vendor into the mix may lead to support issues is we have problems with results or speeds of our queries. [CON]
3a.) JDBC appears to be the "defacto standard" when running Oracle SQL queries from Linux. [PRO]
3b.) There may be issues with results or speeds of our queries when using JDBC. [CON]
3c.) Using JDBC requires the explicit-IP of the Oracle server to be defined for each connection. This would require special-handling on the *.rpts at either the source-file (and NOT the CMC level) to change them from DEV -> TEST -> PROD connection. This would result in a lot more Developer / Admin overhead than they are currently used to. [CON]
    ==================
We would appreciate some advice from anyone who has been down this road before.
    What were your Best Practices?
What can you add to the Pros and Cons listed above?
How do we find the "sweet spot" between quality/performance/speed of reports and easy-overhead for the Admins and Developers?
As always, thanks in advance for your comments.

    Hi,
I just saw this article and I would like to add some infos.
First you can quite easely reproduce the same way of working with the odbc entries by playing with the oracle name resolution on the server. By changing some files (sqlnet, tnsnames.ora,..) you can define a different oracle server for a specific name that will be the same accross all environments.
Database name will be resolved differently regarding to the environment and therefore will access a different database.
Second option is the possibility to change the connection in .rpt files by an automated way like the schedule manager. This tool is a additional web application to deploy that can change the connection settings of rpt reports on thousands of reports in a few clicks. you can find it here :
    http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/80af7965-8bdf-2b10-fa94-bb21833f3db8
The last option is to do it with a small sdk script, for this purpose, a few lines of codes can change all the reports in a row.
After some implementations on linux to oracle database I would prefer also the native connection. ODBC and JDBC are deprecated ways to connect to database. You can use DATADIRECT connectors that are quite good but for volumes you will see the difference.

  • Problems with Solaris 10 Secure Desktop server and Windows XP Client

Solaris 10 Secure Desktop server - Windows XP Client - I've tried to open the Solaris Machine's desktop using the browser based http://MysolarisServerName/sdg and the windows native client
    http://MySolarisServerName/tarantella.
I log in ok to the Solaris Server.
I can open a VT420 session with the solaris machine, and this works OK, but whenever I try anything else e.g. smc, or full screen desktop it doesn't. I get various error messages e.g. can't open display, and Session Failed - X Session timeout.
I've also installed Cgywin X Server on the Win XP machine to see if this makes a difference, but it doesn't.
    Any clues anyone?

Being able to run the VT420 session, but not any X-Window sessions is the clue; it's an X-specific problem. Most likely, ssh isn't configured correctly, see: http://docs.sun.com/source/819-4309-10/en-us/base/indepth/ssh.html
Pasting in the (most) relevant bit:
    Adding support for X applications
To support X applications through OpenSSH, enable X11 forwarding in the OpenSSH configuration file. On each Secure Global Desktop host:
    1. Edit the sshd_config file and include the following:
    X11Forwarding yes
    2. Edit the ssh_config file and include the following:
    ForwardAgent yes
    ForwardX11 yes
    3. Restart the SSH daemon.
    Using SSH and X authorization
If SSH connections fail, when X authorization is enabled, you may have to run the SSH daemon in ipv4-only mode because Secure Global Desktop may not support the xsecurity extension used on your server. You enable ipv4-only mode by editing your system SSH configuration file. For example:
    * On SUSE Linux, edit the /etc/sysconfig/ssh file and add a SSHD_OPTS="-4" line.
    * On Red Hat Enterprise Linux, edit the /etc/sysconfig/sshd file and add a OPTIONS="-4" line.
Note If the SSH configuration file does not exist on your system, you can create it.
You must restart the SSH daemon after making this change.

  • New security group then added into either built in administrator or domain admin group

I am having windows 2012 R2 DC so i need to create administrator group please let me know if we create new security group then added into either built in administrator or domain admin group it will work? i have tried but not working any other alternative
    methods to get admin access

Controlling local group membership could be done by GPOs:
Using Group Policy Restricted Groups: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/wiki/contents/articles/20402.active-directory-group-policy-restricted-groups.aspx
Using a startup script that adds a domain group as member of a local group: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb490706.aspx
If you have manually added a domain security group to local Administrators group of a computer and you still see that the members are not admins then you can do the following:
Logoff and logon again and see if that helps
If you are using a universal group then you be having a problem with the membership. More details here: http://www.windowsdevcenter.com/pub/a/windows/2004/06/15/fsmo.html. You can try converting the group to a global one for testing.
Adding a user to Domain Admins group will make you, by default, a local administrator on domain-joined Windows Systems. This is because, domain admins are, by default, members of local Administrators group. However, you should make the membership of Domain
Admins group very limited and only for users who do global domain administration.

Burn this image file (.iso) to a USB drive or DVD-R:
    USB drive:
Get a blank USB drive with 8 GB+ capacity
Format this drive to Fat32 (Windows and Mac shared format), this will erase the drive!:
    Finder > Applications > Utitilies > Disk Utility > Partition > 1 > Fat32
Extract the image file to the drive exposing its files:
Finder > Applications > Utilites > Boot Camp Assistant
Click both "Create a Win 7 or later version install disk" and "Download the latest windows support software from Apple" and advance
Locate your image (iso) file, example: /Users/Christoper/Downloads/X17-58997.iso.download/X17-58997.iso
Destination disk is your USB flash drive that was formatted to fat32, if it does not appear it may be in the wrong format
Click continue, this process takes a long time (30 mins - 1.5 hour estimated), it may appear that it is freezing because progress bar stops at times, do not stop it, let it keep running.  If you are unsure it is still going, open finder > click the drive > get info, and look at the size of the files.  Then close finder wait a few seconds, get info again and see that file size is slightly larger.  The final file size was 4+ GB for me
    or DVD-R:
I have not used a DVD-R but this is how I expect it to work:
    Insert black DVD-R
Finder > Applications > Utitilies > Disk Utility > Burn
Locate your image (iso) file, example: /Users/Christoper/Downloads/X17-58997.iso.download/X17-58997.iso
    Partition HD for WIndows 7:
Finder > Applications > Utilites > Boot Camp Assistant
Choose the 3rd option Install Windows 7
It will ask you to select a size of your Harddrive space for Windows OS, this will eat up some of the free space on your Mac HD.  How much space is enough for a Windows OS?  Depends on how many programs you plan to install on it.  If you are just using for surfing web and running MS Office, probably 30-40 GB is enough, and this is what I did.  Remember this space will be used up from your existing HD and not usable when you are in Mac OS.  This process takes about 10 mins I think
    Install Win 7 OS:
With USB drive in port or DVD in drive, restart laptop.
It will bring up the Win 7 installer on boot up
Select the OS type that you have a registered key for
It will ask you to find a HD to use for Win 7 OS:
Select the HD you just created, if you try to continue it will complain that HD is wrong format (because MAC formatted it to a MAC compatible HD, we will fix this)
Select the HD, there is a button to the right for "advanced" I believe is the text of it.  It will allow you to reformat the drive, choose NTFS which it requires.  Then proceed
Proceed to setup Win with your preferences
Type product key from your OS purchase or an existing one that you are moving from another machine
    Select Default Boot Drive:
By default it selects Windows as your default OS to boot at power up, most people want Mac OSX to be the default, so this can be changed:
Finder > System Preferences > Startup Disk > select Mac
Enjoy having Windows on your Mac!

Why use Boot Camp: Sometimes you need to run a windows only program.  Boot Camp lets you do that with the speed and smoothness of a full windows OS.
How is it different from Mac Virtual Machine: A VM allows you to run another OS simultaneously while you are running OSX, while in a window similar to any other application.  A VM is not as fast, smooth, and may have limited screensize/view.
Is it possible to have a VM and Boot Camp: Yes, and I do this because sometimes I want to use a VM quickly without shutting down, sometimes I want the advantages of Boot Camp
How do I get Windows in VM: how-to here:

  • Windows for mac? worth it?

Hi, not too clued up on adding stuff to my mac, as im not too techy.
Is adding windows to mac worth it, for running certain programs and games etc etc?
If so, what is the cheapest and most effective way of doing this?
or is it best to keep my mac and buy a separate pc?

Do you already have boot camp?
If not you may need to upgrade to Leopard its no longer available separately
If you don't want to upgrade then you will need parallels deskop or WMware fusion to boot in to windows.
Then you will need a copy of XP2 to install (try ebay)

If we are using addPartialTarget method, should the managed bean be in session scope? I've set it is in request scope. It works fine with 1 user. • Invoke a method when Close Window is clicked

    Can someone please help.
    Thanks in advance.

Is it possible to change the settings so that when the red 'close' button is clicked, the application will hide instead of closing?
Applications don't "close," windows do. If you are just closing windows but not quitting applications that opened them, it is no wonder that there are hundreds of apps in the Dock.
A few apps like System Preferences have only one window, so they automatically quit when you close that one window. Most apps do not do this: even after all their windows are closed, they remain running & thus show up in the Dock, in Activity Monitor, & so on. They each require a little (or sometimes more than a little) real memory reserved for their use to remain running -- this subtracts from what is available to do useful tasks, & will slow down your Mac when it results in too much virtual memory use.
Thus, it is a good idea to quit applications you don't have an immediate need for, especially if they don't require long startup times. If you want easy access to select applications, create a folder & fill it with aliases to those apps, then drag that folder to the right side of the Dock, where it will create a stack. When opened, the stack will allow one click launching of those apps.

  • [svn] 4138: * Added support for SWC reuse.

Revision: 4138<br />Author:   [email protected]<br />Date:     2008-11-19 08:15:59 -0800 (Wed, 19 Nov 2008)<br /><br />Log Message:<br />-----------<br />* Added support for SWC reuse.  This isn't just reusing the bytes to<br />  lower I/O, which we were already doing.  This means not reparsing<br />  the bytes unless they become out of data.  The trick with making<br />  this work is validating each of the SWC based cached<br />  CompilationUnits at the beginning of each compilation.  When a SWC<br />  based CompilationUnit becomes obsolete or is removed from the<br />  library path, all the CompilationUnit's, which depended on it, are<br />  forced to be recompiled.<br /><br />  Note: bugs with the SWC reuse logic often show up as errors claiming<br />  that type foo is not an instance of type foo.  This most likely<br />  means that foo was reloaded, but something that depended on foo<br />  wasn't reloaded.  Please file bugs for any errors like this and give<br />  me a heads up.<br /><br />  Flex Builder has logic to take advantage of this change in the case<br />  of application compilations, but it will need to be updated to take<br />  advantage of SWC reuse in the case of library compilations.  The<br />  biggest benefit of this change will be seen when all the libraries<br />  and applications in a workspace share a SwcCache.<br /><br />  Updates to the performance testsuite to enable it to take advantage<br />  of these changes will follow.<br /><br />tests Passed: checkintests, performance testsuite, fcsh unit tests<br /><br />Needs QA: YES<br /><br />Needs DOC: NO<br /><br />API Change: Yes - a few changes to the OEM compiler API<br /><br />Reviewer: Pete and Darrell<br /><br />Code-level description of changes:<br /> <br />  modules/asc/src/java/macromedia/asc/util/ContextStatics.java<br /><br />    Added clearUserDefined(), which allows Flex to use one<br />    ContextStatics instance when compiling multiple libraries and<br />    applications.  If we didn't clear out the userDefined Map,<br />    definitions from one compilation could potentially spill over into<br />    others where they might not be defined or might be defined<br />    differently.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/tools/oem/Application.java<br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/tools/oem/Library.java<br /><br />    Renamed instance variable "configuration" to "oemConfiguration".<br /><br />    Renamed method param "OEMConfiguration c" to "OEMConfiguration<br />    localOEMConfiguration".<br /><br />    Renamed local variable "OEMConfiguration c" to "OEMConfiguration<br />    tempOEMConfiguration".<br /><br />    Removed a bunch of duplicate code from recompile().<br /><br />    Added support for reporting the start and end of a "full" compile.<br />    Before full compiles were reported as "inactive".<br /><br />    Added support for using LibraryCache's new perCompileData<br />    variable.<br /><br />    Modified Library.link() to use a SwcDynamicArchive instead of a<br />    SwcWriteOnlyArchive when the file name is known.  This allows us<br />    to reuse the compilation units in the archive for subsequent<br />    compilations.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/tools/oem/LibraryCache.java<br /><br />    Added contextStatics variable and accessors.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/tools/oem/internal/OEMReport.java<br /><br />    Updated to leverage CompilationUnit.hasAssets() and to reflect<br />    change in type of CompilationUnit's inheritance, namespaces,<br />    types, and expressions.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/tools/oem/internal/OEMUtil.java<br /><br />    Modified areSwcFileChecksumsEqual() to ignore timestamp changes<br />    with catalog.xml and library.swf.  When we are reusing cached<br />    SWC's, the catalog.xml and library.swf are updated each time we<br />    save the SwcDynamicArchive, but we don't want to reload the SWC<br />    from disk, because all the compilation units represented by<br />    catalog.xml should be cached.  If any of the cached<br />    CompilationUnit's becomes out of data,<br />    CompilerAPI.validateCompilationUnits() will handle removing the<br />    cached CompilationUnit, which will cause it to be reloaded from<br />    disk.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/swc/SwcCache.java<br /><br />    Renamed "swcs" to "swcLRUCache" to reduce confusion with other<br />    variables named "swcs".<br /><br />    Added tracking of removed and updated cached Swc's.<br /><br />    Removed cleanExtraData().<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/swc/SwcArchive.java<br /><br />    Added generics to getFiles().<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/swc/SwcGroup.java<br /><br />    Added tracking of obsoleted scripts.<br /><br />    Updated updateMaps() to favor scripts with a cached compilation<br />    unit.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/swc/SwcScript.java<br /><br />    Replaced misc with compilationUnit.<br /><br />    Added toString() to aid with debugging.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/swc/SwcDirectoryArchive.java<br /><br />    Added generics to getFiles().<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/swc/SwcPathResolver.java<br /><br />    Updated resolve() to prevent resolving foo.swc$bar.css to<br />    blah.swc$bar.css, which was causing the framework.swc<br />    defaults.css's timestamp to be compared with the charting<br />    defaults.css timestamp.  Grrr.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/swc/Swc.java<br /><br modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/asdoc/ClassTable.java<br /><br />    Increased use of generics.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/CompilationUnit.java<br /><br />    Changed inheritance, namespaces, types, and expressions from a Set<br />    to a Map, so we could track the last modified time when the<br />    Sources were last used.  This allows us to track if they changed.<br /><br />    Made assets lazily created.<br /><br />    Removed "misc" context attribute usage.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/CompilerSwcContext.java<br /><br Significantly refactored validateCompilationUnits().  It now<br />    validates sources from the CompilerSwcContext and in the case of<br />    library compilations, it validates the included classes.  It also<br />    builds up a backwards dependency map, so we can remove all the<br />    dependencies when a source is removed.  This made the<br />    DependencyGraph usage unnecessary.  The DependencyGraph usage also<br />    happened to be flawed, because it really should have been looping<br />    each time a potential "type" or "expression" source was removed<br />    until no new sources were removed.  I actually tried implementing<br />    this and it was incredibly slow.<br /><br />    Added dependentFileModified() helper method.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/as3/reflect/NodeMagic.java<br /><br />    Removed out of date comment.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/as3/InheritanceEvaluator.java<br /><br />    Replaced use of MultiNameSet with HashSet<Name>.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/as3/binding/DataBindingExtension.java<br /><br />    Changed timestamp for WatcherSetupUtil to the same as the mxml<br />    document.  Now that we validate sources in the ResourceContainer,<br />    any changes of Bindable metadata in dependent sources will cause a<br />    recompile.  The use of System.currentTimeMillis() was a hack.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/css/StyleModule.vm<br /><br />    Removed unused import.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/SourcePath.java<br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/io/LocalFile.java<br /><br />    No change in functionality.<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/FileSpec.java<br /><br />    Added use of CompilationUnit.hasAssets().<br /><br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/util/QName.java<br />  modules/compiler/src/java/flex2/compiler/util/MultiName.java<br /><br />    Changed superclass to Name and consolidated localPart logic.<br /><br /> • About to move from Windows to Mac. Considering purchasing retina display MBP 15" with dual boot system as I need some of my programs. How is the display in windows for photoshop?

Has anyone got any thoughts or have you yourself purchased the MBP with Retina display and added the dual boot system with windows?
I desperately need to update my gear and want a MBP.
I'm a full time photographer at my local paper and freelance photographer - use computers A LOT, and only use windows. I've experienced mac and know I prefer it, the way it runs pleases me a whole lot more and for the amount i'm processing/working I need something that will keep up.
With 12 years of photoshop gear loaded up for all my photo processing etc, I'm wanting to add Windows and have use of both. Windows would run photoshop that I had already purchased some time ago - question is, how will it run?  what will the display be like running Windows on Mac with the retina display?
I use CS4 at the moment and can't afford to upgrade to CS6 just yet, plus i'd waste a lot of what I already have by starting again on Mac. I'd use Mac for everything else, need the use of Windows for portions of what I do.
About to head to Canada and want to get set up for the road. Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks heaps!

There are some drawbacks, running Windows 7 (only) on a Mac via Bootcamp yields less than stellar results, especially with the Retina display.
And of your traveling, the Mac's high power needs (especially the Retina display) and lack of removable battery are going to be a serious issue. The Retina display is glossy, not ideal for viewing on the road and in varied environments.
CS4 won't run on the OS X version that comes with a Mac, so your looking at purchasing CS6.
Support for Windows is more widespread than for Mac's, also if you ever need to redownload OS X to fix a issue, requires a fast reliable Internet connection of the broadband kind.
If your running Windows on your Mac, you can expect to be on your own and not get support as easily as if you were running it on a regular PC.
If you can't afford to keep up with CS upgrades, then you shouldn't be considering a Mac because there are more paid upgrades on that than on Windows 7, it's like a annual nightmare.
IMMO your still better off on a decent,  1920 x 1080 res, matte screen, removable battery (with extras), Win 7 Pro i7 machine (Pro+ runs XP programs) which will stay like it is and get security updates until 2020.
OS X changes every year and if you don't upgrade, + all your third party software, then about 3 years later your left behind for updates.
Also you will have to buy Win 7 to run on your Mac, the OEM disks won't work.
If your trying to budget, then a Mac is certainly not for you.
