Most SharePoint DBs are not supported with AlwaysOn for Disaster Recover?

Hi ...
I'm in the middle of testing and assessing DR site for our SharePoint MSQQL instance. I found a lot of talking about ALwaysOn. I try to figure it out. It is nice and easy, combine DR and HA in single
solution- Wow.
After proceeding with some research I shocked when found only content and secure databases are supported in Async mode for DR site. We have Fail-over cluster (old fashion with shared storage) , what
the beneftis that will give me AlwaysOn in my case from building a DR point of view.
We are running hyper-v and SQL 2012

Thanks Sean for your explaining the answer.  Actually I have many options, but the important thing as you said these things you wouldn’t play with. I need something is stable and strong without any complications.
My options are
User either AlwaysOn failover cluster OR  Old windows cluster for HA with log shipping for DR.
For me this is supported and somehow acceptable.
User either AlwaysOn failover cluster – Old windows cluster for HA along with AlwaysOn for DR as Async replica. Still not supported from Microsoft.
We have already windows failover cluster with shared storage and I can go directly with log shipping for DR. However, still log shipping is not supported as DR for SharePoint but I’m going to make it as new instance and direct SharePoint farms to the DR
site.  This procedure tested as moving database SharePoint instance to new server. It is worked well and straight forward.
Again,  I cannot use AlwaysOn for SharePoint as DR while it is not supported (Contents and Secure is supported however as HA is fully supported).

The problem is resolved for vendor relication after applying the below notes 1313972 and 1372175.
ECC sandbox seems to be in 701 release. When the backend system ECC is in release 701, vendor replication fails with the error message that 'Backend system release 701 not supported'. We need to apply notes 1313972 and 1372175 to fix this issue. I have applied them in Sandbox and the issue is resolved now.

  • "there was a problem connecting to the server. URLS with the type 'file' are not supported"

i have a new macbook pro 13" and every 6 minutes or so it pops up a window that says "there was a problem connecting to the server. URLS with the type 'file' are not supported". it never seems to cause any problems but is supremely annoying. how can i make this come to an end?

I tried someone's solution of taking another external disc and plugging it in, then when it showed up and time machine asked if I wanted to use it or that someone might be trying to trick me, I chose not use it.  Then I  shut down my computer, plugged in the original Lacie, and rebooted the computer and all seems to work fine now-- the Lacie appears on my desktop and all seeems to be in working order. Who knows why or anything else,- as weird as it gets- but for now things seemed fixed--- maybe others can try this too-- it worked for me so far.

Posting "Check the 'More like this'" area and not simply providing the answer is a great way to make these groups worthless.
You're ignoring context.  On the old Apple Discussion Groups I never posted replies like that, instead giving people relatively detailed answers.  The new Apple Support Communities made things worse by introducing certain inefficiencies.  Then came Lion.  The flood of messages that came with Lion required a painful choice for any of the people who had been helping here: (1) Give quality responses to a few questions and ignore the rest.  (2) When applicable, give a brief answer such as the one that you found objectionable.  (3) Give up all the other normal activities of life and spend full time trying to answer questions here.
People who needed help with Lion problems seemed to have trouble discovering existing message threads that described how to solve their problems.  I never posted the suggestion of "Check the 'More like this' area" without verifying that the help that the poster needed could be found there.  Even doing that, what I posted saved me time that I could use to help someone else.
The people helping here are all volunteers.  None of them is being paid for the time they spend here.  They all have a life outside of Apple Support Communities.  It's arrogant of you to demand that people helping here spend more time than they already do.

  • Cluster in a box with Guest LDOMs : SCSI-3 reservations are not supported

    Hello,
I recently installed the Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.1 in  two simple Guest LDOMs (OVM for SPARC 3.1) with  one T5140 server and  SE 7110 as a shared storage. The some  SE 7110 whole LUNs mapped as VDS devices to both LDOMs. After initial installation of Oracle Solaris Cluster 4.1 I observed issues with quorum device -  both nodes cannot get SCSI3 (default) persistent reservation keys information at same time - only one node can be able to scrub. After switching cluster's global fencing option to "nofencing" (with "software" quorum implementation) both nodes can access quorum device successfully. So I can conclude that SCSI3 PGRs are not supported in this cases.
Unfortunately I didn't find any official and nonofficial documents info regarding this limitation. Could you please confirm or decline my suggestion.
    Thanks.

I am answering on my question by itself
Planning the Oracle Solaris OS - Oracle Solaris Cluster Software Installation Guide
Fencing – Do not export a storage LUN to more than one guest domain on the same physical machine unless you also disable fencing for that device. Otherwise, if two different guest domains on the same machine both are visible to a device, the device will be fenced whenever one of the guest domains halts. The fencing of the device will panic any other guest domain that subsequently tries to access the device.

I have a brand new MacBook Pro, and at no time am I actually having trouble connecting to the server, but this message continues to pop-up several times a day at random intervals. Is there something I'm doing wrong? Or is my computer just having a glitch? Other than that, and a mildly sticking caps lock button, it's working perfectly.
    Thank you!

Alright it didn't solve it. Any other suggestions?
I haven't suggested a solution yet. I want to know whether you still get the messages while Time Machine is disabled. Do you? If so, try any or all of the solutions proposed in this thread:

  • BBPGETVD - error:backend systems with release 700 are not supported

    Hi,
When I am trying to replicate vendor data from EEC to crm 4.0 via BBPGETVD.
I get the error message"backend systems with release 700 are not supported"
Is anyone have Idea what is wrong? and how can fix it?
    Thanks,
    Rachel

    Yossi,
I believe that standard transaction does not work with ECC 6.0.  The standard response would be to upgrade your CRM system to 5.0 so that you can download vendors from ECC 6.0.
Bascially the vendor replication programs in CRM below 5.0 aren't really that reliable for delta downloads(one error will cause an entire load to fail).  So you probably at best should copy the SAP standards to generate custom load programs as a starting point.
It is not too difficult and overcomes some of the restrictions that SAP puts in place(i.e. you can only use one number range for vendors downloaded, etc.).  This is definitely one of the weak points of CRM 4.0 that was fixed in CRM 5.0.
If you have more questions on this let me know.
    Take care,
    Stephen
