Most useful SAP courses in Oracle area from SAP or other providers

Hi!
I am certified SAP Basis consultant (SAP NetWeaver´04 - SAP Web AS for ORACLE).
Now I have the possibility to extend my knowledge and to visit one or two SAP courses.
I already attended on ADM505, ADM506.
What are the other most useful Oracle courses/certification that you could recommend?
Thank you very much!

    Hi,
depends if you want to go in direction technical or development consultant.
But as you are already SAP Basis consultant you maybe want to go for technical consultant:
    TBIT50

  • Patches 7446163 y 6851110 in order to use Oracle Text from UCM

Hello, we have Oracle Enterprise Edition 11.2.0.1 on AIX 6.1.0.0 (64 bits). The client want to use Oracle Text from Universal Content Management, he told me about install the patches 7446163 y 6851110 in order to enable Oracle Text from UCM. I reviewed in Metalink but the readme said that those patches are for Oracle 11.1.0.7. That version (11.2.0.1) include already those patches or those are necessary for we can use the funcionality of Oracle Text from Universal Content Management? I reviewed the components installed on database and the Oracle Text is installed and active.
    Thanks for your help.
    Sincerely,
    Ruben Nieto
    DBA

    Hi
Oracle DB usually would be installed with Oracle Text enabled (the db side) . To use the features for this we need to have OracleText component enabled on UCM which as you mentioned is already installed and enabled on the ucm server .
If both the above conditions are already met then you would not need to install any further patches.
Let me know if it is fine on db and ucm .
Verify that Oracle Text is enabled on db by executing the following query :
    select comp_name, status from dba_registry;
It should return the the following result : Oracle Text VALID
To verify if the component for UCM is installed then you would need to check Administration - Configuration for <instance name> - Enabled Components
    Thanks

  • Webi 4.0 using SAP BW old security model (old authorization concept in BW)

    Hi experts,
we are facing a problem with a new customer, using SAP BO 4.0 - Webintellingence on top of a SAP BW 7.0 EHP1.
The customer is still running the old security concept in BW. The hint to upgrade SAP BW to the new reporting authorization will be done, but not within the next half year.
Could that be a major problem to run this combination (BO 4.0 (Webi) and the old security concept) particularily on hierarchie authorization.
Thanks in advance for a quick answer.
    Thomas

    (1) BEx queries already in use by the business users are from the BWP and those same queries may or may not exist in BWD or BWT as some business users create BEx queries directly in the BWP.
1). As I told you earlier, design is purely  based on Requirement and Process also needs to be followed.
Bex can be created directly in the production, but if query goes wrong or fetches wrong data, don't you think business people will get frustrated. If you or team can explain the process, then Yes you can directly work on Production (just my view)
    (2) Even if those queries do exist in entire BW landscape, including BWD, BWT, and BWP, only BWP has the data that business user can count on. BWD has no data and BWT has only sample data where as BWP has actual and complete data.
Running the query is BWD or BWT is just for testing, example incase of BOBJ upgrade, you need to do in 577 and test before prod rite.
3). I can create reports in 577 in connection with BWD to maintain consistency in the schema for both the environments. Upon approval and migration to 578 I know that I can change the underlying connection from BWD to BWP and that would work just fine, however, according to the business users, the auditors would not like the idea in light of SOX compliance and may not approve the methodology.
You have answer in your question (SOX) and Business also like to follow the process (atleast in the companies, I have seen)
    Just my view...

  • How do I get back the tab feature that has my most used webpages because when I open a new tab now, the page is blank. thanks. Annette craker

After an update a few weeks ago, the tab feature that used to come up with boxes with my most used pages e.g. Facebook, Ebay, and many others just isn't there anymore. I can't find how to get this feature back. Please help.

Do you have the Test Pilot Addon? Test pilot was expirimenting with new tab pages recently, to determine which new tab page should make it into a later version of firefox (probably 9 or 10). I believe the study is over now, so they have removed the new tab page.
To get a similar feature search http://addons.mozilla.org for '''new tab page''' or '''Speed dial''' extensions.

  • Tables are not coming to oracle model from sqlserver 2000 while using OMWB

    Try the following
    || This script sets the "dbo" to have the "sa" login.
    || NOTE: Server settings for the SQL Server instance must be set to
    ||"Allow modifications to be made directly to the system catalogs".
    || This is found under Server Setttings tab for server properties.
    UPDATE sysusers
SET sid = (SELECT sid FROM master..sysxlogins WHERE name = 'sa')
    WHERE name = 'dbo'

  • What are the advantages of Using SAP ?

what are the advantages of SAP when compared to other technologies?
what are the basic advantages of SAP

SAP's R/3, introduced in 1992, is the most used ERP system in the world.
The R/3 software package is designed to allow businesses to effectively and efficiently operate a variety of business processes within a single integrated information system.
The software is customizable using SAP's proprietary programming language, ABAP/4. R/3 is scalable and highly suited for many types and sizes of organizations and runs on six different platforms.
SAPu2019s R/3 has been designed to be the best ERP system in the four areas of human resources, financial, supply chain management, and marketing. R/3 is also an international product, and meets the local fiscal, language, and tax requirements of most countries.
SAPu2019s R/3 is very versatile, as it will operate on six different platforms, including the recently added Microsoft NT.
The R/3 package includes several very attractive features like it has a three-tier client/server system. Providing three tiers offers scalability and easier adaptation to the specific needs of large companies and fast-growing companies.
SAPu2019s R/3 is available in 14 different languages (German, English, Spanish, etc.) and also incorporates multiple currency features that provide essential information processing capabilities for multinational corporations.
R/3u2019s modules are organized by the functional areas of financial, human resources, supply chain management, and marketing. While information is entered separately for each specific module, the modules are fully-integrated and provide real-time applications. This means that data entered into one module is immediately and automatically updated and reflected in all oft the functional areas.
R/3 is composed of a single, virtual file structure with no subsystems.
In addition, SAP has released u201CMySAP.comu201D which is software that provides for data interaction and processing connections with the Web.
Financial and managerial accounting tools in SAP R/3 are contained in the financial accounting (FI) and the controlling (CO) modules. The General Ledger function in the FI module provides a comprehensive record of all information needed for external financial reporting. The accounting data is complete and accurate because the SAP system fully integrates all business transactions that were entered from all the operational areas of a company. In addition to the FI and CO modules, the SAP system includes the Investment Management (IM), Sales and Distribution (SD), Materials Management (MM), and Human Resources (HR) modules.
Management accounting tools in SAP R/3 are cost center accounting, internal orders, product costing, and activity based costing, profitability analysis and profit center accounting.
SAP R/3u2019s accounting features are modeled on German approaches to accounting, and thus they are well-organized and very efficient in processing accounting information and providing accounting statements and financial reports.
As stated previously, R/3 offers multiple currency features and a three-tier system that is capable of meeting very high demands from the accounting system for either transaction processing or financial reporting.
SAP was the first to implement integrated treasury capabilities. This attractive feature allows a corporate treasury department to function as an in-house bank by automating the control of cash flow, investment trades, and portfolio management.
R/3 provides check writing capability in its Accounts Receivable component which very few other programs offer.
Additionally, there is equal access to all data in the system. This means that personnel can access financial data directly from a computer screen rather than physically meet with the treasurer, controller, or some other similar person. In other words, R/3 offers real-time, immediately updated reporting.
R/3 also provides for a "single data entry point" where the data entered from any location is instantly sent to all other appropriate modules in the ERP system.
The accounts payable component of SAP R/3 contains four types of transaction blocks namely:
    ● The audit block● The receiving block● The vendor block● A manual block
These blocks make it much less likely that improper payments will occur.
SAP R/3 is organized with the concept that a business operates as a series of processes, which means that the company implementing R/3 may have to change and reorganize itself to properly fit with R/3 and use it effectively.

  • Regarding Native SQL to access Oracle Data from SAP

    Dear Gurus,
This query is regarding Native SQL.
Our database is Oracle and the client's database is also Oracle.
To access the data directly from the client's database(Oracle), can I use Native SQL commands?
Is there any disadvantage to use Native SQL?
If Native SQL can be used, can any one send me the code to access the data from Oracle?
    Points will be rewarded.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Neeraj K.

The problem is always data integrity. Doing things this way you are bypassing any business logic. So for example if you are connecting to a SAP Oracle database. SAP will not support your SAP system as you are doing direct updates to the database. I would suppose that this would be the same for any other product using the Oracle database. If you are only reading data from the database then it should be fine. I would however always using API's to access/update data.

  • Using SAP in Finance Courses

I am interested in finding out if anyone is currently using SAP in Finance Courses on campus.  If not, is anyone interested in collaborating on developoing some senarios with me?  We are trying to introduce SAP in ALL courses, and I have not found any applicable material in this area.
I am open to ideas, and concepts for collaboration during this summer.

    Hi Wendy
Check out the material in the UA Library categorized under Business Intelligence.  In particular, Crystal Reports and Xcelsius are used extensively for strategic planning and financial analysis as well as in financial and management reporting in today's companies.
Students studying finance will not only benefit highly from gaining expertise in these products, the academic value to them is quite high.  Quantitative-oriented students are motivated learning BI by the disciplined approach to structuring information and use of models to find trends and patterns.   Visualization of the output of the models fits finance and consulting because it allows value drivers and decision impacts to be identified clearer and quicker.
Of course, sections of the management accounting course can also be used in courses oriented towards budgeting and financial planning.
I think other professors will have further suggestions.
