Motherboard Debug LED

I have just installed a new Gaming 7 motherboard. Initially when I booted into windows it very conveniently showed the temperature of the CPU - but now all it says is AA - how can I get the temp to display again. I have not changed anything system wise - just updated to a more recent version of MSI Command Centre.
Ah - solved it. It seems that turning on fast boot turns off the temp display on the LED

Hello all.
I urgently need some advice.
I recently bought a msi z97 gaming 5 motherboard and I had it installed into my rig. Everything was working fine. I decided to do some cable management in my case today and afterwards wanted to switch my pc on to find it dead. I switched off the power and made sure that I discharged all electrostatic power.
The psu delivers power to the board as all the case fans spin, the light trail lights up an my fan controller works.
My peripherals (key board, mouse) don't light, as well as my monitor. There is ia also no boot beeps.
The debug led displays a code 00 which is not in the manual. I already tried removing the cmos batery and also cleared the cmos with the cmos jumper en still nothing.
I even removed both my ram modules and still no boot beeps.
If there is someone out there please help...

i got the same issue by chance few days ago 00 error but with dual bios chip board.
and able to fix it,
i narrow it down that somehow the bios chip selection wasn't switched ..
even after power off, and flip the switch i meet 00 error and no LED on bios chip has light
switching to the secondary bios chip worked fine,
then when i flip the bios chip while the system was booted, switching was successfully,
and at next power off and power up was booting with the other bios chip fine and no longer 00 error
however for your board, i see board has 1 bios chip only
im not sure if would have bios chip led indicator or not..

think i can see the led indicator side by side to JBAT1
so your board probably also should have bios chip led indicator

i don't see this LED to light... it should be near to 00 debug code
so probably bios chip doesn't kick in for some reason...
and i don't know how this can be fixed since your board don't have dual bios chips..
looks like something become damaged when you tried to re-arrange your cables..
else don't have idea what else you can try, except to rma the board

I have a problem my board did not post , did not start and i have the DEBUG LED CODE # 67 displayed.

When I put the power on, the power supply activated fans and drives spin, all the LEDs on the motherboard light up but nothing appears on the screen.
No video signal at all and the computer stop and restrart every 15 seconds. When these reset occurs there is no beep on the speaker , nothing at all, no flashing screen either, nothing.
The DEBUG LED display a sequence of flashing numbers 19 - 60 - 19- 60 - 67 and stop showing still the number # 67 for about ten seconds and then he reset again.
I carefully followed the instruction manual for the installation, I installed the memory modules in slots 1 3 5 7, i put my video card in slot PCI-E2. all the power wire are connected correctly 1 x 24 pins ATX, 2 x 8 pins ATX, 1 X 6 pins , all the wire from the front panel are correctly connected to the m-connector in JFP1 & 2.
Did i forget something, I don’t know what the debug led code # 67 exactly mean and what i have to do to fix-it
Someone has an idea what is wrong or have any suggestion to solve this issue.

I followed some advice to remove the memory modules and this is actually caused by the use of memory but you will see I still have a curious bug.
I referred to the instructions manual to the letter for the choice of DIMM SLOT to put the memory module in single, double, triple and quad channels.
If I install 1 memory module in the DIMM SLOT 1 to operate in single channel, everything is normal and the motherboard POST normally and show the SETUP SCREEN.
If I install 2 memory modules in DIMM SLOT 1 & 3 to run in dual channel, everything is normal and the motherboard POST normally and show the SETUP SCREEN.
If I install three memory modules in DIMM SLOT 1 - 3 - 5 to run in triple channel, everything is normal and the motherboard POST normally and show the SETUP SCREEN.
As soon as I install four DIMMs modules mémoiredans SLOT 1 - 3 - 5 - 7 to run in quad channel, the motherboard freezes and does NOT POST and show code 67 on the debug led and has reset itself every 20 seconds.
I tried all my RAM modules alternately in both single channel and everything works normally.
I did the same thing in rotation for both dual and triple channel and everything is still normal with all fourth memory modules individually.
As soon as I put a fourth memory module it freezes and displays the code 67 or L9 dependent side as you look.
So my bug is my motherboard MSI Big Bang Xpower II do not want to work in quad channel.
Do you have any idea where I should look for, is a setting in the BIOS , I have flashed the bios to the latest version V1.5
I included the screenshot of the BIOS to see if you can notice something wrong.

P-55 GD80 no post Mobo Debug LED reads FF

Hey guys,
I just got all my parts from newegg yesterday and i was set up my system. However I am getting the following error when trying to boot my system.
The on board mobo Debug led panel display reads FF and does not go past this point. I've connected both speakers and monitor but i don't get any audible beeps or any messages on screen.
I've looked up the error and it and some people suggested that this is a common problem and i may have to simply RMA the mobo. But before i do that i would like to try everything i can to get this to work.
This is what i have done so far:
Taken mobo out of computer and placed on a non-conductive surface and tried to boot, no go still Debug panel reads FF
Tried running with ram in different slots, no go.
Tried running with no video card, no go.
tried running with just 1 ram stick no go.
the only thing i was not able to reseat was the processor, i am unable to get my heat sink off the motherboard. I have a stock i5 750 heatsink/fan combo and the push tabs to install it the mechanism that Intel is using appears to be the same as Satan uses to lock the gates of hell lol my fingers are sore from tying to remove it.
Also, another thing i read on line that many people suggested was that i should "push down on the bios chip" this apparently solved the problem for a few people. Alas, i have been unable to identify exactly where the bios chip is.
If anyone can tell me where this chip is and an easier way to remove the heatsink or any other tips on trying to resolve the issue at home, I'd really appreciate it.

Hi guys! from some days I have a problem with the motherboard. I bought new in November 2013. now the PC crashes giving me black screen during game sessions, during work session and sometimes even when IBM in the bios and the PC do not responding to commands. memtest does not detect problems with the ram. the video card works at very low temperatures being liquid cooled, as the CPU. I can not check the code on the debug panel because I realized just now that one of them was soldered upsidedown :( it pass all the benchmark, from 3dmark to ibt, unigine valley and heaven
what should I do??

Maybe someone knows what is the cause, with the display "debug LED" is "AD" (as the system begins to load)

Z87M Gaming - Turn Off Debug LED?

Hello there. This is my first MSI board and I primarily got this for the Red & Black theme I am going for. I noticed the LED Debug output before I bought the board but just assumed that I would be able to turn this feature off. I am on the latest BIOS and I have combed through that thing so many times but I am not seeing the option to turn this feature off? I'd hate to return the board because of it but more importantly I don't feel I can bring myself to put tape over it.
Thoughts?

You can;t turn the debug led off. This is because it is important messager towards the user in case something fails.

Debug led codes 31 to 42

hello since i did bios update other day. iam getting debug led codes from 31 to 42 and some in between. tried switching back to second bios because ithought it was the original bios but both bioses have flashed. i have checked cpu and lga1155 pins no bent pins. does anybody know what could be causing this thanks :undecided

I have just bought x79a gd65 military class board but when i render any file on it my debug led panel shows temperature above 51, is this harmful for my board ...with normal msi bios setting i haven't done any oc on my board ....my processor is Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz, 3201 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s) bios ,Memory (RAM) 16.0 GB SMBIOS Version 2.7

You could look in the BIOS for a setting to disable mainboard LED control, but it may not disable that feature. Worth a try though.

So CPU temp readout doesn't seem to work under UEFI mode?... I thought UEFI was meant to improve BIOS/OS communication?.. The debug LED seems to think it's still waiting for the OS to boot.. ("AD - "Ready to boot") Is this a limitation? Glitch? Is anything being done to correct this? Is it just my board?

Not all UEFI/BIOS versions report CPU temp in the DeBug LED. Report the findings to MSI Tecnical, as they are the only ones that can resolve it if they can duplicate what you describe.

MSI z77a-GD65 debug led 15

Just replaced my mobo and cpu, pulled everything together and when I started it up, nothing on the screen and it starts up and shuts down over and over. It's showing a code 22,15, and 55 on the debug led.
I've put in a i5 2500k with a cooler master Hyper 212 evo, a nvidia gtx 670 , 2 x 4 gb sticks of kingston hyper x 1600mhz ddr3, a plextor m3 128 gb ssd and a corsair hx 650w psu.
I've tried clearing the cmos, and tried using 1 stick of ram with no luck at all.
edit: Now it's not showing error 15, it's just 22 then 55.

990FXA-GD80 problem debug LED shows 19 and 36

i've had this setup for over a year with no problems until last night when it stop working
i start the computer and all fans and light go on and my screen is just blank nothing no boot up
so i open the chassi and starts it up again and the debug LED shows 19 and 36
i googled abit on 19 and 36 and some peaple say its the CPU that isn't supportet but i've had this setup for over a year working
other says its the the ram so i pick out each ram and try one for one and i cleared CMOS
still nothing just goes to 19 and then 36 and then stop there forever

The 1090T works just fine on this board... I also have a 1090T and it worked fine on it.
You say you have been using this setup for around a year.. so what changed? Did you do a bios update.. are all your settings correct? Possibly try one memory stick and set 'auto' for a test.
The test on your friends PC will answer if your cpu is ok...

Help! Z77A-GD65 mobo won't post - Debug LED says dE - no beeps

I'm not sure where to start. I came home to find my computer off. Turning it back on results in all the lights and fans coming back on. No post and no beeps. Screens are just blank.
The 8 blue CPU phase LED lights above the CPU are all on. Nothing unusual there.
The Debug LED lights show "dE" which isn't documented at all in the manual. Does anyone know what this error code means?
Z77A GD65 mobo with corei7 3770 - SSD - 4x4GB Corsair RAM - No GPU. Otherwise nothing special.
Where's a good place to start? Reset the CMOS/BIOS? Swap out memory sticks?

Power off, battery removed, CMOS clear may be worth trying. Yes, test each stick individually in the DIMM2 slot.
Added: Might want to hold off swapping BIOS chips until some more investigation is completed. Don't want to take the chance of possibly corrupting the backup BIOS chip at this point.

Doing my first build in quite a few years so somewhat of a Noob. I'm using an MSI Gaming 7 and an Intel 4970k. I'm using 2x4GB Crucial 1833 SDRAM.
After hooking CPU and MB, and cooler (Evo 212) I decided to see if things boot before installing a dedicated GPU, drives, etc.
Unfortunately, I don't get to boot, and instead I get stuck in an early post: I go past 99->33-> then I eventually get stuck around 41-43 with the numbers occasionally shifting back. According to the manual, this is "early memory initialization error". I've tried using a single RAM in each of the slot, and then also tried the other one instead. No luck, always the same point.
Not sure what to do at this point, and whether there's a way to check if the MB or the CPU or both are hosed.
Also, I'm wondering why the MSI LED is not on. Should it be on up to the boot? What is its purpose?

I'm using a Corsair CS650m.
