  • How to get the motherboard serial number?

    Hi
i am writting an application which will encrypt the motherboards serialnumber and other info to do an activation of my application.
inevitably locking my program to a specific PC.
Does anyone know how i can get the motherboards serial number?
I tried the wmi but get so many errors like missing prototype and not declared.
I dont know when to start using the Windows Management Instrumentation with regards to Lab windows/CVI.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks

    Help share your knowlegde

I made up a small example that shows how to use WMI in CVI.
Unfortunately, I tested it on two systems (Win XP and Win7) and the serial number that can be retrieved in System Enclosure (that should be the S/N assigned by the PC producer) is always blank.
I will try to locate additional infos on this matter, in the meanwhile you may want to experiment with the example and search for other available infos (like for example OS or disk s/n) to create your own security system.
The example can be found here.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

    Hi,
The Motherboard part number starts with 11......
If you download the Hardware Maintenance Manual from the Lenovo Support site, all the part numbers are there, as well as removal instructions.

  • Dv7-3188cl no longer recovering using recovery DVDs

I have a dv7-3188cl which I have owned for a few years now.  I started my usual yearly cleanup of my computer; aka reformat and reload of the OS.  I inserted the recovery media into my drive and started the process of reloading the OS.  I received no errors during the second stage of copy files but when I got to the loading of files stage, the process consistently stops at 12% and would stay there for 24+ hours.  There are no significant scratches on the disks, nothing that can't be buffed out with a scratch repair system.  I have used and loaded game disks with more scratches.
What could be causing my system to do this?  I don't think it is the harware as I successfully installed Ubuntu on my system.

    Hi Enforcer83,
I understand that when you are running your recovery from the disks it will not load pass 12% on your HP Pavilion dv7-3188cl Entertainment Notebook PC.
I suggest following the steps in this document for Troubleshooting HP System Recovery Problems (Windows 7).
I hope this helps, please let me know how it goes.
Good luck and have a great day!

  • What is the motherboard part number for DV3-2232TX (VZ462PA)?

My DV3-2232TX is not booting - and only flashing the Scroll and Caps Lock lights 4 times in a cycle.
From searching, this means the graphics card is broken, but it also seems it's built into the motherboard on this model.
It's out of warranty so I would rather just try and repair it myself with a replacement part, as I suspect any HP repairer will charge like a wounded bull for the service.
I can't, however, find the correct part number to order it!

    Hello,
    Part number 614-0305-A
    Hope this helps.

  • Whats the motherboard model number for hp pavilion notebook i3 15-n037cl

  • MSI motherboard model number location?

Hi...........I have a simple question.  I bought, from a private party, a recently built computer with a Pentium 4 2.53 GHZ processsor, running Windows XP Pro.  It has an MSI motherboard in it.  The builder doesn't know the exact model number of the mobo.
The builder forgot to install a driver for the SM Bus Controller.   I need to download the driver for it, but before I can do that, I need the mobo model number.  I've taken the side cover off and have looked for a model number.  I don't see anything that looks like a model number.
In addition to the SM Bus Controller driver, I also want to download the instruction manual and anything else concerning this board.
Almost in the very middle of the board is "MSI" in large white letters.  This is right above the agp slot for the video card.  I don't see any numbers close to it that would be what I'm looking for.
It's not the most recent socket.  Would this possibly be socket 478?  I'm just not sure.  There is a chip labeled MSI Core Cell.
There is also a small white upc code with a number on it, which I assume could be the serial number.  It's a 10 digit number with a letter for the second digit.  I wonder if there is somewhere in the MSI site that cross references serial numbers with model numbers?
I check Windows system information to see what it would tell me.
    This is what it showed:
    System Manufacturer:                Micro-Star Inc.
    System model:                          MS-6728
    System type:                            x86 based PC
    Processor:                                x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 7 Genuine Intel ~2533 Mhz
I've done some searches on the MSI site for MS 6728 but have had no results.
I can't think of anything else that might help identify this board.  With the information I've provided, can anyone give me a clue where to look for the model of the board?
    Thanks for your assistance.

Thanks to all that replied to my post.  I had a sudden realization that I could Google the number MS 6728, which is a MSI part number, not the model number.  Unfortunately, I had this epiphany after I posted.  I was able to find a picture of the board.  It's actually a 865 PE Neo 2 Platinum.
    Thanks for the google hint!
About the only place I didn't look was between the PCI slots, which is what the provided link indicated.  I looked, and there it was!
    Thanks again.

  • G500: Motherboard model number

I wanted to know the model number of my motherboard, but it is showing as INVALID.
I typed the following command in the command prompt,
    "wmic baseboard get product,manufacturer"
    and it says
    Manufacturer   Product
    LENOVO           INVALID
I wanted to know is there some problem with the motherboard, or do I need to flash the BIOS or something like that (although i am not experiencing any kind of problem right now)
My Laptop is G500 model , with WIN8 64bit (and it is still under warranty)

  • Motherboard serial number

    Hello,
I have a Pavillion dv6 and I would like to know the serial number of the origianl motherboard.
the notebook does not switch on anymore,
I brought it to repair twice and they told me who have changed the motherboard,
but after a few days the problem is back.
I think that they didn't change anything but I need evidence.
    Thanks in advance

ok so when i first use my laptop it seems like everythings fine, than all of a sudden it gets extremely slow. i cant do anything. if i leave it alone for like an hour it usually goes back to normal. but i dont understand whats making it slow down in the first place. i ran multiple anti virurus scans and found nothing, aswell as malware scans. just cant figure out what this could be. thanks in advance

Right click on Computer and select properties. Now select advanced system settings. Now select the settings button under performance. Now select the Change button under Virtual memory.Highligh the C drive and then Select Custom size.look below and use the number that you see to the right of Recommended.Put that number in as the minimum and maximum values for the custom sized swap file. Now select the Set button and then select OK.You can select OK on the other open windows to close them.Your PC will restart and will be noticeably quicker. You have just tweaked your swap file size and virtual memory settings.  This is a duplicate of some information I gave to another member. Cut n'paste!Best regards,

  • Dv7-3188cl speaker pop

There is a pop noise when the computer boots up and it shuts down.  The pop sounds as if it is coming from the speaker area above the keypad.  I purchased the computer from Sam's Club. I returned it and the replacement one also has the pop.  I am not positive if it is coming from the heard drive.  HP had me flash the bios but that didn't do anything.  Their answer is to send it in for repair.
I like the machine and would love to keep it if I knew it was a harmless pop.  Does anybody have any insight?  I found something on internet that said the sound could be coming from one of the 2 harddrives in the machine.

Updated the Bios on reccomendation of HP email support - updated to version F.1B (sp48570.exe  04/23/2010) - this has effectively solved the POPPING issue (along with audio driver update above)

    Hi,
It's the first Intel generation chipset and a Corsair Force plus a Corsair Force GT worked for me well. However, the Samsung is a brand new drive and I can't guarantee it will work on your laptop. Perhaps it may work:

    Hi,
Your laptop supports up to 1TB 2x 500GB of 7200/5400rpm. I suggest to use a solid state drive as a fast system drive and a 500GB or 750GB (believe it will work) drive as a data storage in the secondary bay. I would also prefer a WD drive but don't use a hdd at all (SSD is the future!!).

  • FN function keys not working on dv7-3188cl

I recently formatted my laptop to windows 7 ultimate and since then can not get my function keys to work.
I've reinstalled drivers that I thought might work and nothing.
When I could no longer adjust my brightness is when I noticed that my function keys were not working. Is there any other way to adjust the brightness on my laptop besides the function keys? If so I have not figured it out.
