Motion 1 Crashes on Intel Core

hi There
When i run Motion V1 on my new Intel 1.83GHz Core duo, it loads to the motion screens before it quits. Any help?
cheers scott

Welcome to the discussions, Scotty.
Sorry - AFAIK, there is nothing you can do. Motion 1 and 2 are incompatible with the new Intel Macs which require 2.1 (which is only available as part of FCS 5.1)

  • Corel painter 9.5 crashes on intel (core duo)

does anyone know how to make painter 9.5 run on a intel core duo?
i seem not to be the only one who can't make it run. i've searched here through the forums and apparently it's wacom drivers fault that causes painter to crash on the intel core duo platform...
if that was the case wouldn't wacom updated their drivers long time ago? i'm sure such an issue would've been huge for corel, enough to contact wacom and adress it so that they update their drivers or something.
i tried to install older wacom drivers but painter 9.5 is still not opening up.
painter 9.5 is out since february and this issue must have happened since the intel (core duo) introduction. i just can't believe these two companies would not care about it.
    so anyone have an idea?
    any suggestions gratefully apperciated...

This is a quote from a board I can't mention its name because it is a rumor board, but it may actually answer your question:
There's a warning with IX.5 to clear out the preferences (hold down shift while launching) on the first post-update run. You may want to see if that clears the tablet crash thing.
So you may want to remove the program, run the installer, and run the update, and hold the shift key during the first run.

It used to be in there (id 226635 is the last one with it); should I clean it up a bit and put it back with a bit more of a disclaimer?

It looks like a GPU issue.  Make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar for a FREE evaluation.  Bring a copy of the crash report with you.

Open Console in Utilities & see if there are any clues or repeating messages when this happens.

  • Every time I try to play the video ads for iOS 7, the system crashes and I get a "Safari website quit unexpectedly" message.  I have an iMac 23", 3.06 Intel Core 2 duo.

I have an iMac 23", 3.06 Intel Core 2 duo.  Whenever I try to play YouTube videos, the system crashes and I get a "Safari quit unexpectedly" message.
I know there are Apple vs YouTube issues, but the same thing happens when I try to play video ads from the Apple site.
The computer is 4 yrs old- this problem started a couple of months ago.  No major changes, just updated as available.
    Any suggestions....?

I don't have any Safari extensions that I know of.  I didn't install any anti-virus.
This is on the error message when it comes up.  I went to the WebProcess application in Time Machine and tried to restore it to one year ago, but it didn't fix the problem.  As I recall, this began about the time Apple and YouTube parted ways- whether that is coincidence or not...

Thanks for taking the time to look at this.  I really appreciate the effort.  I'm a amatuer at this, I'm afraid.

    Hi there,

It mostly happens when i go to open any internet browser but has also happened when i'm previewing files using the space bar fuction and also a seemingly random time in Photoshop.
I've verified and repaired permissions through disk utlities and made sure the operating systen is up-to-date.
Below is the last report I recieved after opening chrome and encountering a crash.
Can anyone offer any advice as to how i can stop this plesae? I've tried to desypher what all the below might mean but it is at this stage i become a techincal novice!

    Thank you for your time.

Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pros - the bad NVIDIA GPU
If you're having frequent kernel panics with your 15" mid-2010, or intermittent screen problems, the problem is, more than likely, the faulty NVIDIA GPU found in a number of those machines.
Here's just a sample of a kernel panic log that points to the faulty NVIDIA card:
Kernel Extensions in backtrace (with dependencies):
             com.apple.GeForce(6.4.0)@0x82ac4000->0x82b7afff
                dependency: com.apple.NVDAResman(6.4.0)@0x834a0000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IONDRVSupport(2.2.1)@0x82fd3000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOPCIFamily(2.6.5)@0x7a802000
                dependency: com.apple.iokit.IOGraphicsFamily(2.2.1)@0x8301b000
             com.apple.nvidia.nv50hal(6.4.0)@0x83c05000->0x84019fff

Here's the "official" Apple take on the issue - but the very real kernel panics need not be preceded by 'Intermittent black screen or loss of video'... in fact, you might not experience any video problems at all. Although video problems can certainly be a portent of things to come…
So what can you do? Print out a copy of your kernel panic and a copy of the Knowledge Base article and take them, along with your machine, to your local Apple Store or an Apple Authorized Service Provider. They should be more than willing to install a new logic board at no cost. I have no idea why this faulty GPU is making the headline here on the MacBook Pro forum so often now - could it be because Mountain Lion is just bringing the issue to a head more readily? I don't know - I only know that we're seeing more and more of these kernel panics of late.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

This morning, I made a new "customer" and downloaded the "trial version" of CC2014 photoshop. This resulted a working CC2014. I hope Adobe can fix my "real" account which does not work at this time.
    Anyone else tried this?
    Ken

I don't think everyone with a Mac is having basic problems with Photoshop 2014.1.
What exact versions do you have in each case?  Is your updated version 2014.1, while the "new customer" version is 2014.0?  Choose Help - System Info to see.
Sounds like, given your specific system, you may want to try a full clean and reinstall, or maybe a downgrade to 2014.0 until 2014.1.1 or 2014.2 comes out.  I think the older versions are available through the Creative Cloud application.

  • [SOLVED] Kernel 4.0 and up crashes using intel gfx on Core-M Broadwell

Fortunately I was able to resolve this after 2 months of frustration, but I thought I would post the problem and solution for others.
After the update to kernel 4.0 (and at least until 4.0.5) my Intel Core-M Broadwell processor (in a Lenovo Yoga Pro 3) would crash a few seconds after launching of any graphical environment, either Wayland or X. The errors as shown in journalctl point to a kernel crash in the intel graphics module:

After chatting with a person in #intel-gfx on freenode IRC I was told this is a side effect from the enabling of a new command structure for kernel 4 and higher.
To fix you need to add the following to your kernel line in grub|rEFInd|gummiboot:
    i915.enable_execlists=0
The developer suggested they will disable this option in future kernels, but I don't have a bug to track this with so it will be trial and error moving forward.

  • Why does FCPX keep crashing when running on MacBook Pro10.7.5, 2.66GHz Intel Core i7, 8gb 1067 Mhz DDR3

I am running Final Cut 10.0.7 on a MacBook Pro  10.7.5, wiht 2.66GHz Intel Core i7, 8GB 1067 MHz DDR3.  It locks up and crashes a couple of times a day. My system exceeds what Apple says I have to have to run this program.  Why is it crashing?  What do you need to run it so it DOESN'T crash.  I've heard you actually need 16GB of ram.  Is that true?

Your MBP specs are higher than mine. I'm running FCPX 10.0.8 (ran 10.0.7 for a long while), 2.4 GHz i7 with 8 GB RAM and don't have the crashes you're describing. There've been reports here of problems with some 3rd party plugins. Could that be what's causing your issues?

  • Quark 6.5 crashes when opening existing files on iMac Intel Core Duo

I just switched from a G4 titanium laptop to an Intel iMac and Quark works fine except when I try to open a file that I created on the laptop (same Quark 6.5). It crashes. I talked to Quark and they said that I need to open the files on a PC and resave (I don't have a PC or a friend with a PC and Quark not that I'd send them all my files even if I did). I've tried resaving and renaming files with no luck. I tried reinstalling both the operating system and Quark (both 6 and 6.5) with no luck. Has anybody else had this problem and found a work around? I want to sell my laptop but I can't until I know I can access the hundreds of client files I have there.
iMac Intel Core Duo   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Sorry I have no real experience with this, just a thought. Did you use migration assistant to move the old files over from your G4 to your Intel? And did you then perform a "Repair Disk Permissions" upon the entire hard drive from within Disk Utility's "First Aid" panel? (located at Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility)
If the file move still is causing you a problem afterwards, you could try and work around it by moving the files in a different way. As a test, create a small file on the G4 and then email it to yourself from the G4. Receive that message into the Intel and see if the Intel can then open the file from inside Mail. This might avoid any "bias" created during the move from old to new Mac.

  • MBP 15" intel core 2 duo keeps crashing with distorted screen

Why does my macbook pro 15" intel core 2 duo keep on freezing or crashing with a distorted screen?
It doesn't seem to give any pattern when it randomly crashes. According to the hardware test, there's no problem.
But after doing the full hardware test everything seems ok again for  a few days then crashes again with a distorted screen. Has anyone else out there experienced this as well? Help please!

Like i said in the first post, i already did the SMC reset. This is very strange because sometimes the macbook can stay up with no problems for a very long time, like 24 horas staright and nothing happens. Than i put two 720p videos that have a 30 minutes duration and nothing happen also. The fans worked like **** but it keep together. So i don't know. Does the graphic card have a so random behaviour like that? I can't find the scenario that triggers that black bars and freeze it happens from time to time.
Can somebody help me? At least to find out what triggers tha behaviour.

  • Imac Intel Core Duo 20' For Motion Graphics?

    Hi everyone,
Just seeing what people thought about the Imac Intel Cores for motion graphics based work. Basically I need to run the Adobe suite (After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator and Final Cut Pro.) Also, down the track I will be wanting to put 3D Studio Max via boot Camp.
How many of you are using this machine for motion graphics? And, is it as fast and productive as you would like etc?
    Cheers,
    James

Depends on how intensive you plan on getting with the iMac. For the most part, it should run pretty well. When the Adobe products become universal they should fly. I currently run all the same software plus Maya on my iMac G5 2.1 GHZ w/o a problem, so they should run just as well on the intel (more so when all apps become universal). I actually plan on selling the G5 and picking up the intel version so I can run boot camp and 3D Max as as well.
