Motion 3 Came to A Grinding Hult

It seems that since i loaded FCPS2 Motion sofware is not fast at all. I had no problems before but it seems like my system gone slow. HELP I have the X8-- XT Card it worked fine until I load the ne software>

Yes. I did this too and things improved. However before I did this it was aweful. This is a very common problem and I would recommend everybody operate a fresh install on an new OS.
Even after improving performance, it still seems a bit slower. This could be that I'm using the Kona Output driver v4 for output to the plasma TV which seems to hurt performance. I ended up having to turn off the live parameter change updating feature of the output module because of the performance hit.
I have gotten the best performance with Outputing off. I think there is a problem with the way the footage gets mirrored over to the Kona card.

  • NI Motion - Cam Grinding Machine

We have designed a CAM GRINDING MACHINE with NI MOTION controller 7344, which controls 3 servo motor for each axis. In that 2 interpolated axis are X and C (1.Grinding wheel forward/ Reverse movement and 2. Head stock Revolution). Grinding can be done by giving Speed data and profile data as velocity and displacement to the X and C axis through the controller.
In that X axis carries the grinding wheel of diameter of 300mm. The design data of the cam is Lift in mm for 0 to 359 degrees. Lift given is displacement of the Flat follower.
We have to get the profile within the tolerance allowable. But we unable to get profile because the Lift data is being given to the controller is the displacement of the Flat Follower and we are giving the same lift data to the X axis (which carries the grinding wheel).
All I want to know is how to convert the lift data in to the data for the X axis considering the 300mm wheel diameter and also the wheel diameter will be reduced due to the dressing (up to few microns to 1mm). Will the dressing also affect the Cam profile? Please help me to convert the data.

  • Motion camera behaviors not saving or exporting correctly

I love this program.  For $50 it is amazing.
    But, I am having issues.
I have a pretty processor heavy project with two replicators running video and a camera doing zooms, sweeps, etc.
I can set up the project exactly how I want it, Save, Close. When I open it back up tomorrow I have issues with Camera behaviors not completing their cycle. They were flawless when I exited the program and now when I open back up its as if they are missing some of their data and just stop mid-behavior.
Example: when using a "Framing" behavior it will start its zoom out but not finish it.
    Seperate issue.
When I export the project as H.264 or ProRes 422 (or any export), Motion is not performing the behaviors as it did previously.
I can RAM preview the project and everything looks just fine on playback.  Then I export--when QuickTime opens it and I play it back to check it--the video make it somewhere in the middle and a camera behavior doesn't complete its zoom out.  How can the export be different if the RAM preview is fine and I change nothing????
Motion crashes all the time too which is super frustrating.  Man it is such a great piece of software though.....

Anyone encounter & resolve this issue?
Framing behaviors align perfectly on their targets during playback and RAM renders in the canvas, but are consistently misaligned in any "Share" renders. I've tried it with "Export..." and various "Apple Devices..." settings. Incidentally, those do seem to work up until there are a few Framing behaviors on the same camera, (none of them overlap--  if / when they do conflict, the canvas preview is appropriately affected.) I can't work out which action causes the failure, but it will eventually happen in the canvas, too, if I work on the project long enough! Then the only recourse seems to be deleting the Framing behavior. Simply resetting its parameters does NOT correct the weird alignment. Subsequent targets are not framed correctly.

  • Slow motion camera software for iSight?

    Hi there!
I was wondering if there is any software out there that would allow me to record things using my isight camera in slow motion? 100 frames per second would be nice but more would be awesome! This would be really handy as I'm an animator and I'd like to analyze my movements better. If this is not possible, does anyone know of the cheapest digital cameras or camcorders that have features like this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Simon

I'm pretty sure the internal iSight cameras can't physically do any more that 30fps, and even that's only in ideal conditions. Any cameras I've seen that can do true high speed/slowmo recording are in the $1000+ bracket, but I haven't looked in a while.

Have taken a burst of video motion with sound using my Canon digital camera and want to send it via email so it can be opened and enjoyed
Tried bringing it into iMovie where I chose compression for email
Then I chose compression for Quick time BUT when going back to Entourage where I try to attach the file it says I need to buy Stuffit software first.

Use YouSendIt to send all huge files through email.
If the other party has high speed internet service & AIM use either AIM or iChat to send the file.

  • Importing camera data into motion.

    Hi,
Does anyone no if it's possible to import 3d camera data from either realviz, boujou or maya into Motions' camera.
    Cheers

    Howdy,
The folks at The Pixel Farm have made a Motion export module for PFHoe/PFTrack that will write out cameras or entire scenes. As for Boujou/Maya/etc: Motion's project format is all XML, so you could write a script that converts from those other formats into Motion camera data.
I've been debating writing a Maya->Motion converter, as every tracking app supports Maya, so it could be used as an interchange format. I just didn't know how many people would really have use for it.

  • Motion 4: zooming in with all layers

I'm creating an opening sequence in Motion 4 and I can see a problem coming.
First the white circle draws itself. Then the center photo fades in. Then, one after another, the town names and dots appear in alphabetical order.
The final effect should be a zoom into the center dot, where I'll fade in from black a photo of video's topic, a library.
The dome photo is plenty big...what's on screen for most of the sequence is only about 20 percent of full size. But I can see that I'm going to need to enlarge everything, or have the Motion camera move in on everything, so the dome doesn't simply grow beyond the bounds of the white circle and town names. That's about 10 layers in all.
What would be the best way to do this? Thanks.

This istell excellent advice, absolutely killer.
    David Bogie Chq-1 wrote:
Yes. but I might suggest you build this as a set of layers, each a bit closer to or further from the camera--maybe even mask the dome image so there are two copies, an inner and outer circle at different z-depths--and do the camera move as a push in to the dome image. The parallax shift as the camera moves might give you a very interesting effect.

Why your layers won't move into groups is a bit difficult to diagnose from where I'm sitting.
Cameras are what Motion is all about these days. However, just placing a camera in the scene is not going to magicaly make this move work for you. You will need to learn how to use cameras. But, if it's a simple move you've got in mind, the easiest place to start is the camera behaviors.

  • Motion tracking to create paralax in 3D environments

I'm going to be shooting footage on green-screen and I have looked at the Motion tutorial DVD which shows how to motion track where you would overlay an image onto the source footage (it's the one with the sat nav screen in the car). What I want to do is take a person shot on green-screen and composite them into a 3D environment but lock the environment to markers on the green screen so that it moves with the markers hence creating the illusion that the person is in the 3D space. Does Motion have that capability? Also, any tips for removing the markers (since they won't be green) would be appreciated as well.
    Thanks in advance.
    T x

    Howdy,
Sliding the ground plane around until it stays put is a bit too trial-and-error for me, so I usually pick a feature that is on the ground (a green point, i.e. has a high confidence value) and stick the plane to that. To do this, move the mouse over the desired feature, press the spacebar and select "Move Origin to Feature" in the menu that appears. This will snap the ground plane's origin to that feature, which makes positioning stuff in Motion a lot easier.
As for the export, I think there is a bug, of sorts. If you choose to export a Motion project, it creates a project with the footage and camera already in place. The ground plane is lined up with Motion's ground grid and the camera starts off in whatever relative position (X=100, Y=55, Z=-60). If you export a Motion camera file, the camera has the same relative movement, but it's starting position is (0,0,0), which means that the imaginary ground plane for the shot and the ground grid in Motion aren't aligned, and you're back to the trial-and-error when positioning objects.
So here's what I recommend: use the Motion project export. If you already have a project and just want the camera, copy the camera out of the exported project and paste it into your already-existing project, which will keep all the camera values A-OK.
Another thing that is critical: the project settings must be identical. PFHoe bases the tracking values on the resolution, frame-rate and aspect ratio of the footage. So if you track a shot that PFHoe thinks runs at 24fps with a square aspect ratio and and you bring that camera into a 30fps project with DV (non-square) aspect ratio, things won't line up, time-wise or spatially.
As some encouragement, here's a screencap of a simple track used in Motion.

  • Creative Live Motion - Vista - no pan and tilt softwa

Everything seems to work. The driver installed perfectly and the webcam center also. Did anyone find or download pan and tilt software for this webcam for vista thanks much

Have found another used Creative Live Motion cam. I guess the one I have has got some malfunction.
Trying to replace some part of my new one from the donor old camera. Will post the result with pictures.
For all the people experiencing extremely slow frame rate, a non-documented and not known fix is simple. Just disable the Auto Exposure checkbox in the camera settings first tab and see the smooth results. Manually adjust the exposure to a reasobable value according to camera placement and enjoy.
Say thanks if your problem is solved.

  • Iphone 6 slo -mo camera defective

When taking video with the iPhone 6 in the slo-mo mode at 240 fps i get a pink haze on the left side of the screen. The video on playback is also very jumpy and glitchy ( like your filming a strobe light). when you change it to 120 fps it works fine. I took my phone to the Apple store and they replaced the camera in my phone. Back to filming on the volleyball court, camera still doing the same thing. Another trip back to the Apple store yielded a new phone. Another volleyball game, same problem and now a new problem, When I go to camera mode the screen freezes on a blurry screen and won't let you do anything but close out the app. you can't change camera modes or anything. I am so dissapointed in the iPhone 6. I never had this problem with my 5s. This has got to be a firmware or hardware problem that I hope Apple fixes soon. I have been filming volleyball games with my iPhone for years and have never had this problem. by the way I mount my phone on a tripod when filming. Anyone else having these problems.

II'm using the slow motion camera without any proble, no freeze or issues.

  • Camera Sensor Error Post Production Fix

I have a number of shots which include a sensor error.
A large number of shots from this shoot were dropped due to a slow motion camera error associated with its Current Session
    Reference (CSR).
This basically creates a different slightly darker top to bottom on each frame.
The different in tone occurs exactly half way across each frame
Could anybody suggest a post production fix?
Maybe even involving third party plug ins?
I need a fix which would analysis each frame and unify the tone of each full frame.
Even a suggestion to a forum / site which I could possibility find some help on this issue, would be a huge help as I have 200 plus shots
    which need to be fixed.
Please find attached an example screenshot
    Thanks

Thanks for your suggestion Mylenium. I have tried Re:Match but unfortunately it hasn't fixed the error.  Would you have any other suggestions, that you think would be worth trying?

  • Are there any recovery tools for optical media?

I've had a couple of DVD's  turned in to coasters recently and I was hoping that Linux could come to my rescue with some awesome 'raw-read' / recovery tools for optical media?
I burnt the discs in Windows 7 using InfraRecorder on a brand new Plextor drive (a 'PX-891SA') and these are my first attempts to burn discs with it so I'm a bit worried it could be a hardware fault!
I started off trying to back up some files to clear some space on my hard-drive, burning them to a dual-layer dvd, but the software kept failing to even start the burn process -- that was until I realised that I needed to run the program "as Administrator" (in Windows). It did then manage to burn the disc (I was using "Session-at-Once" mode) however when it came to the end of the burn process / the start of the 'verify data' phase it threw an error saying the write process had failed! Windows couldn't access the disc / data and (I think) still thought the disk was empty. So I restarted the burning application and used a function to just 'close' the whole disc. This seemed to work because Windows was then able to recognise the disc and read the data, although accessing the disc was slow and sounded 'stutter' ish.
I then tried to write a single layer dvd to finish off the last couple of gig I had to back up, but again the software completed the burn phase only to report a 'fail' error right at the end (I'm assuming) before finalising the disc. Although this time I'd tried to create a multi-session disc by using the '2XXA' (or something) 'Multi-Session' iso9660 format. The result was that Windows couldn't read the disc and still thought it was empty, even after trying a forced 'close disc' operation! -- Linux however could read the disc and see that the data had in fact been burnt to the disc (although I've not yet tried copying it in Linux!).
Finally I needed to burn a load of archives to a couple of discs (totaling ~9GiB) -- starting with a dual-layer dvd first everything seemed to be working fine, the burn process started okay and the write buffer was full etc., until at what I assume was the layer change-over it all came to a grinding halt and threw another 'write operation failed' error, only this time I can't even mount the disk in Linux....see 'dmesg | tail' output below:
    [ 5758.353005] ISO 9660 Extensions: Microsoft Joliet Level 3
[ 5758.353015] ISOFS: Interleaved files not (yet) supported.

[ 5758.353037] isofs_fill_super: root inode is not a directory. Corrupted media?
Does anyone have any thought or suggestions that might help?
    - Is it likely to be a hardware fault? (I bought a Plextor because I thought they were one of the best!)
Maybe even if I could just close the session all would not be lost?

@chris_l -- yeah I was worried that might be the case, still I'm not sure if that explains why it keeps failing the burn process part way through?
I've tried this and that in Linux but without much luck. I'm still quite a noob with a lot of Linux things and this is the first time I'm trying anything to do with optical disks/drives etc. so I'm learning as I go...
The disk that failed in Windows but was 'readable' in Linux did just pass a run through ddrescue -- i.e. it created an output file okay and did not report any errors in the process.
However when I mounted the resulting image and tried to copy the files across the first folder reported an "input/ouput error" (just using gui copy+paste in Thunar file manager)
...the other folders did copy okay though!
It seems as though it's the lead-in / lead-out and disc finalizing process that are the main fail points with the burn operation. I don't know if InfraRecorder is any good or likely to be the problem? Anyway the drive cam with Nero (inc. Linux version) so might give either or both of these a go too, if they don't work either then at least I wont be short of something to rest a mug o' tea on
@ chris_l (again) -- the Plextor drives do have a "Vari-Rec" feature which allows a user to 'tweak' the laser power / output level so I might try this too.
@alphaniner -- thanks I've not seen this package before, I'm guessing it's a bit like cdparanoia but for dvds?!
    Thanks for the help!
(pre-post) UPDATE >>> I've just mounted my Windows partition  in Linux so I'll have a crack at burning the files using cdrtools before I resort to throwing the dvd drive out of the window and chasing it around the yard with a lump hammer

  • Apps / Game Center / Iphone 6 Plus wont sync

I received my new iPhone yesterday , I synced my "old" iPhone 4s to iTunes , then proceeded to transfer the data to my new iPhone 6 plus. Game Center transferred fine , however when I open a game app , it's starts me, as if I just downloaded the app for the first time.
How do I get my apps to acknowledge game center, and take me back to the games where I left off on my old phone ?
The only thing I like about the iPhone 6 plus so far, is ,  it's easier to read text , and the slow motion camera.
The Bad : lot's of apps still don't function properly and / or don't work on the iPhone 6 Plus

I solved this through a suggestion for another question.  I leave my iMac on all the time and generally put it in sleep mode at nights.  I restarted my computer and that seemed to solve the problem.  No idea what caused the hangup but a reboot seemed to solve it.
