Motion 3 EXPOSE feature

We have recently upgraded to Motion 3 and I have been using the Motioin 3 Apple Pro Training Series torial. Lesson 5 discusses Motion's expose feature. Pressing X activates this feature, however, I can not activate expose by pressing X or Shift X. Is there an internal setting I am overlooking.

Did you change/customize the keyboard layout either to the Final Cut Pro or your own set, as brought up on pg. 10? If you changed it to the Final Cut Pro set, then there is no designated keyboard command for Expose. You'd need to remap a key to that command under menu: Motion>Commands>Customize...

Slow expose features after attaching a external display

I've noticed that on my macbook if I attach a second screen (in my case a Samsung HDTV running 1360x768) all OS X expose features are really slow.
CPU is running only at 10% or so (constant minimum of 6).
Is that normal or should i start looking for a program that is slowing things down (quite newby for this so where to start).
Always doing something like copy files or so etc. i noticed that does slow stuff down... but question remains because when i detach and still am copying files it's not slow).

How to create apple quick key to lock screen in 10.6.8 WITHOUT using screen saver or expose feature.

I frequently use my mac in an office that many of my co-workers have access to. I'd like to know of a quick way to lock my screen without putting it in sleep mode or using the screen saver/expose feature. I have the Lock Screen icon in my menu bar but i'd like to know how I can assign a quick key to quickly activate the "Lock Screen" function.
Any suggestions?

I'm not sure which phones have the slow motion video feature but does the 5c or is it just the 5s?

Live! Cam Voice Shuts Down When Using Motion Detection Feature

I'm running XP Media Center 2002.
I just installed Live! Cam Voice. Started using it and is was fine out of the box. I updated the drivers and i also decided to update the drivers for my SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS.
The problem only seemed to occur when using the Motion Detection. Shortly after using it, I'd get a Microsoft error prompting the WebCam Center to shut down.
First I uninstalled the software and reinstalled it using the original drivers on the supplied disk. I still had the problem. So i rolled back the drivers on my sound card. That seems to have fixed the problem... Thought you'd want to know.
To be clear the Cam driver I'm using is .0.8.206. I believe this is the one that came w/ the install disk. Hope this helps anyone else who's experienced similar problems.....

I have the same problem. I only get 6-7 fps max. I've never seen anything above 0 fps which is a disgrace. My computer is and Athlon64 X2 4800 with 2GB RAM so it's nothing to do with spec. This behaviour was the same in driver version .0.8 as well as the latest one... .0.02 or something.
Also, since the last driver update, the whitebalance and focus when on automatic is dreadful. I'm not impressed.

Motion 3 feature?

Does anyone know if Motion 3 allows for EPS importing or if it still requires the creation of a PDF. Everything else about version 3 looks very cool.

No, those AI files don't work with particles the way that you want. But they work as image masks, and also as shape source for replicators.
Like I said before, Motion 2.0 grabs only the PDF information off the AI CS2 file, but what I want, is to import all layers as separate layers/objects in my Motion project, just like layered Photoshop files.
I also hope Apple added this, otherwise all this 3D thing doesn't make me so excited It's really a basic and absolutely essential thing, and a lack of this really kills the workflow, since this is a motion GRAPHICS application...

True 3D support - all layers exist in true 3D space, the ability to import lightwave & 3DMax files.
OpenGL Realtime shader for viewing these 3D objects.
Virtual cameras - with DOF and various size lenses
Basic Motion tracking.
G5 1.8 Mac OS X (10.4.4)

Any games used with the motion sensor feature on the new ipod nano?

Are there any games, such as the one shown in the comercial where the feature of moving around the ipod is being used. (i think the game was a racing game of some sort) thanks.
(p.s a title for a game would be appreciated)

There is only one page of games for click wheel iPods and I only found one racing game.

When is the new motion tracking feature available

I saw on the NAB notes that Motion tracking and feathered masks would come soon to Premiere Pro CC. Does anyone know when this will be?

10.6.4 update -- expose no longer works

Since the 10.6.4 update, the expose feature no longer works on my MBP. Activating expose causes the screen to dim as usual, but none of my windows move or resize. Strangely enough, the application specific expose still works (click and hold on an application icon in the dock). Anyone else having this problem or know of a way to "reset" expose?

First, let's get a better sense of where the problem is. Open you Applications folder. Then, go to the Utilities folder found inside. Double-click on the Expose application.
Is the problem the same?
If so, my guess would be that the problem is somewhere in the update. An easy fix would be to download and install the 10.6.4 update again. It can be downloaded from Apple here. This should re-install the update and fix your problem.

1 OSX Lion Mission Control vs Snow Leopard Expose can't we combine the two (by leaving older Expose options inside) and get Apple back to leaping forward again?

So I am a web/software developer and I am having major beef with OSX Lion's Mission Control. While I think Mission Control and Application Windows are interesting additions to the multi-tasking nature and scheme of the OS, removing the older Expose Spaces and All Windows is a huge mistake. Couldn't Apple have just left all of the old stuff in? Then the system would be complete. As pretty as Mission Control and Application Windows is, the older Snow Leopard Spaces and Expose moved much faster and tamed all of my apps in a very efficient way.
Here is why Mission Control is not as fast as Spaces and Expose:....
1. With Spaces all of the desktops and their connected monitors were consolidated to one monitor in which you can easily see everything going on from a birds eye view. You cloud easily drag open windows between them freely and even swap spaces. This was huge because you could see everything. You could even activate All Windows over Spaces and see everything..Mission Control will group everything but you can't move programs across desktops unless it's the main desktop to the little desktop. Nor can you move windows across monitors. This is frustrating. Also the desktop are split to their respective monitor so I no longer have a birds-eye key-map access.
2. All Windows is so necessary and slick. Mission Control or Application Windows can't quite keep up. If I have a cluttered desktop and hit all windows, I can get any window at any time no matter how buried it is. Application Windows is useful but only applies to the focused application…but what if it's buried? I have to activate mission control first, select one of the windows from the program group, then activate Application Windows to get to that window. Also if there are many windows open for an application, Mission Control cannot replace All Windows because they stack and you can't quite tell which of the windows you want is accessible in that stack.
The bottom line is, put both of them together! Keep the old functionality as an option, because truth be told, the old way of doing things is still considerably faster under heavy work loads. I would use the Snow Leopard expose features more often. There is still room for Application Windows and Mission Control, but even after re-training myself I feel I'm moving at 70% of the multitasking speed that I used to move at before using Snow Leopard Expose. I mean this legitimately, I develop using multiple OS's along with video chat and instead of being a leap forward, Lion is a step backward and that just isn't like apple, everything Apple has done has been leaps and bounds forward. Let's leap forward and not only have all the sweet new features that Lion offers, but combine with the productive features that really moved and maybe just integrate into Lion's style. Bottle that and you have something sweeter than Yoohoo.

I completely agree with airbnboy. I used to be able to quick organised different windows within the same app to different spaces (now "desktops" for no apparent reason). This worked very smoothly in expose/spaces. I'd use one gesture to get to spaces, then another for expose, and I'd have all my windows in all spaces visible.
Now, I can't even see all of my windows in specific to one desktop! The best I can do is double scroll to see *some parts* of the windows on a desktop. So now, selecting a window for a specifc app is huge pain.
Worse than this, on moving windows from a desktop to another in, Mission Control will change the ordering of the stacks (per app, not the windows in the stacks). Umm, what is the possible benefit there?
So, now there is no use of spatial memory - e.g. Window X for App Y was in the top left of all my windows in the top left space, and I want to move it now. It's no longer possible to see all app windows in a specific "desktop", and much more effort is required to move windows around.
Great, well done Apple. Can we please, please have Expose and Spaces back as an option? Or at the very least, some way to view all windows for a specifc app on a specific desktop - and by "view", I mean see the whole window, not just a tiny indicator of the window, or a slightly expanded stack that may not give enough context.
The only reason I "upgraded" to Lion was to get XCode 4.2.

Problem with motion tracking

I have Premiere Elements 12 64 bit on a windows 8 machine. I am trying to use the motion tracking feature. I am able to select an object to track and the resulting yellow rectangle follows the object as it moves through the scene. The problem I have occurs when I try to attach a graphic to the item being tracked; the graphic will not anchor itself to the yellow rectangle when dragged onto it, the rectangle does not turn blue. It appears the graphic is added as a static layer and does not follow the object. I have tried it using various video formats with the same result.

I am still not sure if it is the lack of contrast that is not giving you the best results. I tried to use a model with a light gray object to be tracked against a light blue background. Or, if it is those speech bubbles in contrast to other graphic types that are creating problems.
But, it is more than that. You did not see that yellow/orange box turn blue when you approached it with the speech bubble.
I found essentially one on one tracking when I used other than speech bubbles. But, whether speech bubbles or not, my yellow/orange box turned blue with the approach of the speech bubble or other graphic.
Here is what I would like you to try
a. Repeat what you did, but do not use the speech bubble. Use one of the other graphics under Graphics, maybe the carrot.
b. Repeat what you did , but use as source an object with more contrast against its background.
The main thing we have to work on is getting the yellow/orange to blue change as an indicator of what is supposed to be happening. Also, just back tracking to correct is not enough. If a try does not work, start with newly imported files to avoid any unexpected variables until we work out the situation.

Slow-motion videos do not play as edited (fps) on Mac

Hi all,
I just received my iPhone 6 yesterday, and have been playing with the slow-motion video feature. I moved a few over to my computer using Image Capture, and they played fine in their slow-motion, 240 fps. However, the problem is that it doesn't play the video as it was edited on my iPhone (parts of it sped up, and parts of it slowed down). It plays the whole video in slow-motion, which can be a little annoying watching an entire video.

In Firefox, click Tools>Add-ons. Make sure the Shockwave Flash plugin is enabled and "Always activated".
If that fails, see: How to perform a "clean install" of Flash Player in Mac OS X in the Adobe Forums. That will clear out the pluigins and allow a fresh install with the new plugin.

Does anyone know how far WVC80N camera can detect motions?

As what I've known, motion detection feature on the camera actually varies not only as to any movements captured but also with the sufficient source of light. There's no exact distance as to how far it will be able to detect a certain motion however I suggest you try it from where the camera is situated, moving farther from it little by little so to give you an estimated range in your network.

Probably Stupid question, but - how to remove motion tracking from a clip?

I've been playing around with the motion tracking feature, and think I may have come up with a way to make it work to highlight my now infamous "football"
However, I need to delete the motion tracking effect (s) that I've added to the clip so that I can start fresh. I cannot for the life of me figure out how to delete it!
This may be a very elemental question - and I apologize, but I cannot find the answer. I just cannot delete the original yellow tracking boxes -

To remove the Motion Tracking, just delete the graphic you attached to it. There's no need to remove the Tracking Object itself.
Although you can if you'd like. Just click to select the clip and then click on the Motion Tracking tool. Then right-click on the blue or yellow squares and select Delete.
